Cannot delete photo where no Original File is available

I would like to delete some photos, I have discovered that the ones I am unable to delete do not have an original file associated with them, how can I delete these from within iPhoto
I know I can go to the iphoto file and delete that but then I'm just left with a blank screen or exclamation mark and I want to get rid of it permanently

Well you have two options:
1. Reconnect the photo with iPhoto or
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
However, remember that this process will leave behind all such files.

What did you use to download it with? iPad? iPhone? Computer?
If it's an iPad/iPhone, play it using the videos app.
If on the computer, look on the left side of iTunes in the library under movies.

  • Cannot delete photo's in Iphoto-09with Snow Leopard

Cannot delete photos from library in IPhoto 09. Whats happen is that the spinning thing starts and never stop. Then I must "force stop" the computer with on/off button. Any experienced the same thing?
I drag the photo from library - pictures to bin. Same happen when do short command.

I drag the photo from library - pictures to bin.
Which Bin? In the iPhoto Window? Or the main trash?
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.

  • Cannot delete photos from  iphone 5 downloaded from pc.  Tried all solutions using Itunes and it doesn't delete them from iphone

Cannot delete photos from iphone 5 downloaded from pc.  Tried the ITunes solution and it does not delete the photos.  Try a second time and Sync doesn't even start

I see the photos tab and "My Pictures" folder shows.  Sync is unselected.  It asks if I want to delete the photos when I click on sync and I said yes but it didn't work.  It does seem that some photos are removed based on available storage left (decreases).  If I select individual folders, subfolders of "My Pictures" then hit Sync deselected Sync doesn't even start.

  • Error: this song cannot be played because the original file cannot be found

I recently purchased a new computer and restored my music to the new computer. Although all of my songs are being displayed in the itunes library only half will play. When I try to play the remaining songs I get a message that says "this song cannot be played because the original file cannot be found". I'm at a loss and need help because all of the songs are in the same folder.

    Hi
I've pretty much got exactly the same problem. We've just replaced our old computer with a laptop and I've transferred my iTunes library over but I can't open almost all of my songs as "the original file couldn't be found." I've tried the "locate" prompt but that gives me so many different options, all to no avail. However, I have added a few new CDs since transferring the library to the laptop and they open up without any problems.
Can anyone help? I've got to go through all of this again soon as my daughters both have ipods as well!

  • TS3274 cannot delete photos

I cannot delete photos in my ipad, at least the ones that show up in the photo application.  The ones in the camera application I can delete.

Chances are the photos that you think you cannot delete were copied to the iPad by syncing with iTunes on your computer. To delete those photos do another sync with your computer but before clicking on Sync or Apply, deselect the albums you no longer want on the iPad.

  • Quality of photos on burned DVD no where near original files

The quality of the photos in a slideshow I burned to DVD using iDVD 6.0 are NO WHERE near the quality of the un-edited original files. It's so bad I wouldn't even give the DVD to someone.
What gives? I chose "High Quality" encoding in iDVD.
I was expecting the photos to be burned as-is and to be viewable at the full, high level resolution.
    Am I missing a setting?
    Thanks!

What gives? I chose "High Quality" encoding in iDVD.
Use Best Performance instead. (Provided Playback is under 60 mins.) This will help slightly.
But overall you must keep in mind that DVD's are considered low resoltion devices. Often the still image quality is less than one third of a megapixel. And there's only so much you can do with this until we see Blue Ray Burners widely used on most macs.
Also, in the meantime you may want to check out a few 3rd party apps that specialize in slideshow production:

  • I would be grateful if someone could direct me to the where I can find the solution to the problem of most of my music not being available to listen too and the message ''your music cannot be found as the original file could not be found''

I have lost acess to most of my music in my itunes on my computer. I have a modern newish computer with windows 7 software and the latest version 11 Apple itunes software. Now all I get is amessage stating '' music cannot be found as original file cannot be found.'' I do not understand what I have to do to track down were the music is now filed as I understand that it somehow has been ''moved'' [how does this happen???] and itunes cannot find it.
Thanks, I suspect this is a common problem but quite disturbing after many years of using itunes.

    Hi, spurrdoc.
Thank you for the question.  The error that you are receiving usually indicates that the file or files are either missing completely from the computer or that the files are in a location that iTunes is set to read.  This is easily correctable if the media is on the computer.  The article below will help you locate your media.

I have also included an article walks you through moving your iTunes media or directing iTunes to the media folder once located.

  • I'm finding Ios7 exceeding frustrating having to spend hours reinstalling and looking for last data. For example I cannot delete photos I have synced, applications are missing. Where can I get clear instructions to fix the mess?

Where can I get clear instructions to clean up a mess that Ios7 has made of my data and info on my iPad. I can't delete photos, apps are missing, it's crazy and so frustrating. I have spent hours on this.

How did the photos get onto your iPad ? If they were synced from a computer then they can't be deleted directly in the iPad's Photos app - instead they are deleted by not including them in your next photo sync from your computer's iTunes.
For your apps, as long as they are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPad, and via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. If you had backed up to your computer's iTunes before starting the update then you could redownload them to your computer's iTunes and then retry restoring to your backup and see if that copies the apps and their content back (the actual apps aren't included in a backup, just their content/settings, so for a restore to work fully you need to have the relevant apps in the Apps part of your library).

  • I have over 2000 tunes in my ITunes library but I cannot use them because their original files cannot be found. What can I do to correct this ?

I have over 2000 tunes in my ITunes library but I cannot use most of them because their "Original files" cannot be found. What can I do to correct this ?

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
