Cannot detach from template

I built a template in DW CS3, (by building a new page, and
saving as a template) and created a bunch of new pages. I want to
detach one of the pages from the template. The command is there in
the menu, but it doesn't seem to work. The grayed out code is still
there, and the yellow template label in the design window is too.
Am I doing something wrong, is something broken, or do I not
understand what should happen when I detach from template?
Thanks,
Tommyb

So I asked for a link to such a page and you gave me a link
to some other
page? So, please give me a link to a page that you cannot
detach from the
template, then.

I can't believe it. A Word document doesn't have a doctype.
Can you send
me one of these Word documents (forums at
great-web-sights.com)?

  • THE DETACH FROM TEMPLATE FUNCTION IN DREAMWEAVER CC DOES NOT SEEM TO BE FUNCTIONAL Can you please explain.

    The detach from template function in Dreamweaver CC does not seem to be functional
    Can some explain.

    Hi Lalita
    Yes you are correct, I TRY THE Modify -> Templates -> Detach from Template.     I have built over 50 websites with this method using Modify -> Templates -> Detach from Template in DW CS5.5
    After a save a page to a template for future ref.
    I create a new page using this temp. but can not use the Modify -> Templates -> Detach from Template. The Detach from Template is not functional. It is there but when I mouse over its not operative.
    Does DW CC need update maybe.
    Thanks

  • Detach from template: Can I batch several pages?

    I have hundreds of pages attached to a couple of templates.
    For some reasons, I need to detach them.
    I'm not too happy to open them one by one. Are there any way
    of batching
    the process and getting rid of all template related code in
    the docs and
    not just e.g. the top line that refers to the templates?
    Mac

    Hey Mac ;-)
    What about a find and replace sitewide??
    find: bla bla bla
    replace: leave blank
    You'd probably need to do this a few times to remove all the
    comments.
    Of course, do this after you've backed up the site !
    Detaching only seems to work on a page by page basis - unless
    the Template
    guru knows of a better way :)

  • Lost template, have pages from template, how can I convert?

    In a moment of crass stupidity, I managed to delete a template upon which several pages of a site under development are based. There was a P7 menu on the page. Fortunately, I have a couple of pages based on the template alive and well. Can someone tell me how to convert one of these pages back to the template from which it was created?
    Pages from the template are
    http://www.jdcdemo.com/pbc/greater-pine-bluff-chamber-local-apartment-list.html
    http://www.jdcdemo.com/pbc/greater-pine-bluff-chamber-community-calendar.html
    The calendar page is rife with errors of which I am aware. Most are not in the template.
    Can someone tell me how to proceed to recover from my dumb mistake?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Well, we have gotten a lot of looks and no answer. From another board, the first response was the correct one, to wit:
    open a page created from the original (now missing) template
    - go to Modify>Templates>Detach from template.
    - save this via File>Save as template
    - create new editable regions via Insert>Template Objects>Insert  Editable Region
    I took a hard look at the editable region in the file from the template, and set up and named the new editable region as a clone of the original. The pages from the template, worked just fine.

  • WORD Error message -- Report from Template

    Hello everyone,
    I try to generate a "Report from Template" with transaction CG03.
    I can select the generation variant and the parameter values in the next two pop-ups.
    WORD is starting but then there is the error message:
    "Word cannot read this document. Maybe it is corrupted. Try the following:
    - open and repair the file
    - open file with repair-textconverter".
    This message is a translation from german to english so the correct messagt might differ from this.
    When I look at my frontend PC in the local settings I see that the respective files are written, but I can´t open them.
    This problem started two days ago out of nowwhere.
    Additional information: Visual Basic pops up after the error message is closed with "runtime error '1055'.
    A debugger is opened and this is the content of the window:
    Private Sub TmpDDE()
    Dim Template
    WordBasic.FileOpen "C:DOKUME1chgiLOKALE1TempRehsfil0.WWI"
    WordBasic.FileTemplates Template:="C:ProgrammeSAPFrontEndsapguiwwiwwi.dot"
    WordBasic.Call "wwiES.S", "S", ""
    End Sub
    Any ideas?
    Thank you in advance for your help!!!!

    Hello Christoph
    any change happened on your client? New Windows version? New Word Version? New WWI Version installed? Did you manupulated Standad Dot path etc.? Did you change Standard.dot of Word?
    Can you open in cg54/cg50 any document (ready, released or historic) without a problem and the problem is related only to "report from template"?
    During WWI process a number of files are passed on to your client. Can you use Wordpad to open the files? I am not sure but I believe per WWI document there should be something like 4 or 5 documents in your local WWI path. One containing the data, one containing the template and some others (named something like resfil, lesfil etc.).
    An error like you described is normally related to one of the above mentioned changes. Can you use "Report from template "regarding the same spec, same genvariant same language with a different client without a problem => then it is clear you have a local problem
    With best regards
    C.B.

  • Workflow - create document from template

    Hi,
    Could anyone tell me what could be the possible use of Create Document from Template step in workflow...

    Hi vijay,
    1)Open the PC application by choosing the entry Double-click to create in the Document templates tray by double-clicking or choose  in the step definition of the document generation.
    The PC application that you last used to create a template is opened in the Workflow Builder. The system fields and the container elements of the workflow container are offered for selection in the navigation area. They can be transferred into the template by double-clicking.
    You cannot use any multiline container elements in your template.
    All relationships created between container elements/system fields and the document template are displayed in the object area.
    It is not possible to insert system fields and container elements into all types of document template.
    2) If you want to create a document template of a different class, select  Change document class and choose the new type of document template.
    3) Select  to assign a name for the document template.
    4) Create the document template in the usual way in your PC application. You can use all the functions of the PC application.
    5) Insert container elements and/or system fields from the object area into your template by double-clicking. These fields are replaced with the content of the container elements/system fields at runtime.
    6) Select  to save your document template.
    Hope this helps u,
    Regards,
    Nagarajan.

  • Changing header information in pages made from templates

    I am familiar with GoLive and using components for menus to
    accomodate universal changes.
    I am new to Dreamweaver (CS3). I am using templates for my
    menus so I can make universal changes. However, what do I do if I
    want to put a form on a page and need to be able to put some code
    in the header? I cannot because the header is non-editable on pages
    made from templates.
    Are templates the only alternative to GoLive Components?
    THX

    This is the sign of an improperly made template.
    Do this -
    Create a new page (Basic HTML).
    Use FILE | Save as Template....
    Look at the code in the head region of the page, particularly
    the editable
    region around the <title> tag, and the other editable
    region in the head
    called "head".
    Make your template file look like that.
    Always use FILE | Save as Template when you create your
    templates and you
    won't have this problem again.

  • "The system cannot create journal template"

    While creating the journal template for my legalapplication using wizard i get the following error
    "The system cannot create journal template"
    am using category, group and time as my header dimension --
    group dimension contains the LC.
    please suggest what steps can be taken. Also while trying to access journal from etools we get the message journal not found.
    Thanks

    Hi Andy,
    Please check how many sheets are in a default excel workbook on your client. If less than three, BPC fails to create the journal template. If that's the case, try setting default number of worksheets to 3, then retry journal template creation.
    If the above is not the issue, then you'll have to check that reporting services is working correctly. As a first step, go to http://<app server name>/reportserver (or reportserver$<instancename> if you are using a reporting services instance and left it with the default name)
    If that page compiles and shows without error, then try http://<app server name>/ reports (or reports$<instance name>) If that one also compiles/doesn't give errors, then reporting services is working.

  • Cannot find CFML template for custom tag SELECTDATE

    Hi,
    I am not a ColdFusion developer and just moved a site from one server to another. That site is developed by someone else not me and I just moved the site to ColdFusion server. Site is working fine except a few pages where I am getting this error:
    Cannot find CFML template for custom tag SELECTDATE
    I read a little bit about custom tags. These are files that needs to be placed in a certain folder from where ColdFusion reads them.
    So that means I will need to ask the developer who developed this site to provide me with this custom tag file, which when I will place in appropriate folder, this page will start working? And without that file I cannot do anything about it?
    Thanks

    As Dan says, they're just CFM files.  Usually one can identify them as follows:
    * they're in the same directory as a file calling <cf_somefilename[...]>, wherein there is a somefilename.cfm is the name of the file
    * they're in one of the directories set as custom tag directories (in CFAdmin, or Application.cfc)
    * they have references to "thistag" or the attributes scope in them (although the latter can produce false positives on Fusebox sites)
    By the sounds of it, your issue is - like I said before - you haven't got your custom tag dirs set up in CFAdmin (or in Application.cfc, which I didn't mention before).  Investigate that.

  • Problem with writing code from template based file

    Hey there! Thanks for taking a look at this:
    I have a page that I created New> From template.
    I'm in Split view and I'm manually going in and placing my cursor where I want to add some content. Ive tried writing a <br> tage and inserting a Div.
    I'm inserting this code right before the closing <div> tag that my editable region ends, its clearly in the right spot, within my editable region in the template, but I'm getting an error from dreamweaver that says it's not. This seems to only be happening when I edit the code directly. If I insert code through the menu's in design view I don't get this message.
    I'm using CS5 on a Mac
    What do I Do?

    > making this change would require changing code that is locked by a template
    > or a translator. The change will be discarded
    This 'generic' error message happens as follows -
    1.  You open a page that is controlled by a Template
    2.  You make a change to that page, forcing the template engine to run through the page looking for things to potentially change (this is normal)
    3.  While doing this scan, the Template engine finds an unspecified number of coding errors and attempts to fix them
    4.  If it tries to fix an error that is a) in a non-editable region of the page, or b) in a Library item, it cannot do so, and throws the error
    So - the first questions are these:
    1.  Does the template validate when you go here - http://validator.w3.org - and paste the code from the page into the Direct Input tab?
    2.  Do the Library items contain <html>, <head>, or <body> tags?
    If the answer to either of those is "yes" then we will have to see the page and the code to guide you further.

  • 2012 R2 guest VM creation from template fails - SVMM 2012 SP1

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a VM from a VM template and I get error 13206 - Virtual Machine Manager cannot locate the boot or system volumen on virtual machine <NewVMName>.
    First, the current setup:
    Host OS: Windows Server 2012
    SCVMM: 2012 SP1
    The VM Template creation process:
    - Create a normal VM from SCVMM: Guest OS is Windows Server 2012 R2
    - Simple configuration of the guest OS (eg: regional settings, ...)
    - Disk within the VM is configured as Dynamic (has one simple partition that is System Reserved and another simple partition for the System (C:))
    - Sysprep the guest VM with Generalize and Shutdown options
    - Import the syspreped VHDX onto the SCVMM Library (making sure that the transfer is "unencrypted")
    - Create the VM Template using imported VHDX (since this is SCVMM 2012 SP1, not R2, the option to select the VHD generation (1 or 2) is not provided)
    The VM creation from template process:
    - Create a VM from the template with the default values and ticking the box for the VM to "start the virtual machine after deploying it on the host"
    The "Job" process:
    - Create virtual machine = Completed
    - Deploy file (using LAN) = Completed
    - Change properties of virtual machine = Completed
    - Fix up differencing disks = Completed
    - Install VM components = Failed <=Error 13206
    Some additional details:
    - Hyper-V integration services are not installed on the guest VM
    - Repeated the same procedure with both Dynamic and Fixed VHDX
    - Original VM was created with only 1 disk for boot drive (no additional disks)
    - Original VM does not have any roles or features configured
    - The VM Template does not make use of answer files nor is it configured to join the domain
    - Enabled SCVMM log tracing using Microsoft kb2913445 and searched the logs using the VHDX ID number - Not found
    Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated...
    Thank you,
    Karim

    SCVMM 2012 SP1 does not know of 2012 R2 (that I recall).
    Also, the VM must be a Generation 1.  Generation 2 creates a UEFI layout on the VHD that SCVMM 2012 has no idea how to handle.
    SCVMM actually mounts the VHD when the VM is deployed and looks for disk volume markers to find the OS in the VHD, then injects some startup files.  This is the portion of the process where you are failing.
    How do I know?  I submitted a bug around this in the SCVMM 2012 timeframe.  That I believe was fixed around the time of UR4.
    I caused the problem to happen by creating my VM with DISM from an image.  This did not create the layout assumptions that SCVMM was looking for and blocked template deployment.

  • Create file from template format problem

    Hi
    I have a template (index.dwt.asp). In the body tag is
    <body id="<% =xid %>" class="<% =bodyclass %>" onload="SwitchMenu('<% =loadm %>')">
    when I create a new from template it writes the code with a capital L in the onload function which will not validate as xhtml strict.
    <body id="<% =xid %>" class="<% =bodyclass %>" onLoad="SwitchMenu('<% =loadm %>')">
    Is there any thing that can be done to stop this.
    Thanks
    Paul M

    Also, just so you'll know, I cannot reproduce this in CS4.  If I create a template -
    <%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="65001"%>
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </head>
    <body id="<% =xid %>" class="<% =bodyclass %>" onload="SwitchMenu('<% =loadm %>')">
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="EditRegion3" -->EditRegion3<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </body>
    </html>
    and spawn a child from it, here is what I get -
    <%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="65001"%>
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/test-onload.dwt.asp" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
    </head>
    <body id="<% =xid %>" class="<% =bodyclass %>" onload="SwitchMenu('<% =loadm %>')">
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="EditRegion3" -->EditRegion3<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
    </body>
    <!-- InstanceEnd --></html>

  • HMTL files disconnected from template

    I was working with one template that is connected to about
    130 html files. Or I should say, those 130 html files were once
    created from this template by a co-worker. As I was trying to add a
    new issue, meaning adding another html file, somehow I messed it
    up, and the connection between the template and the other files
    were broken. Meaning, when I update the template's pull down menu,
    the other html files don't get updated.
    Is there any way of connecting them again? I really can go
    through all 130 files to include my new pull down, and next issue
    when we add a new one, I would have to do it all over again.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    G

    > Is there any way of connecting them again?
    If they are TRULY detached from the template, then there is
    no easy way to
    reattach them. But post a link to one of the pages that is
    not updating so
    we can see if that is the case, please.

  • Cannot print from hp DeskJet F4580

    I have just bought my first MacBook with Mac OS X 10.6.4. Great computer.
    However I cannot print from the wireless hp printer. I downloaded the latest driver from hp (maybe a fault) and started to install. Everything went as expected untill the setup process of the Printer Queue. Here I add the printer in order to create the Printer Queue, but when I click on the continue buttom I get this warning: Are you sure you want to continue without adding a Print Queue? I finished the installation with a congratulation sign.
    Therefore there is no doubt, that the printer queue is missing. However I cannot found out to install the printer queue.
    The printer is a socalled all-in-one printer. The scanner function is perfect with the wireless connection. But not the printer function.
    I have also tried to connect via usb cabel. The result is the same. Scanner okay. Printer not okay.
    The printer works perfect under Windows.
    I hope somebody can help me. Thanks in advance.
    Erik

    I'm having the same problem ! The wireless printing works using OS 10.5 on a G4 PowerBook but not OS 10.6 on an intel MacBook. I'm going to get in touch with HP as have used the latest drivers (as you have) - I've re-installed the HP software using Software Update for the latest version - still can't print. USB printing is also faulty so must be their drivers.
    I'll let you know if I have any luck !
