Cannot detect iPhone 3GS

I was restoring my iPhone 3GS when I accidentally pulled out the USB wire from the port. However, when I tried to insert it back, Windows and iTunes both could not detect my iPhone. Does anyone know how to solve this?

1. First, launch disk utility app., select your hard drive & repair permissions. See if that fixes the problem. You can also Launch the Image Capture application in your Applications folder with your iPhone attached to see if Image Capture recognizes your iPhone. If it does, you can use Image Capture for the import followed by importing the photos into iPhone. This will also determine if the problem lies with iPhoto or something else.
2. You can share apps with up to 5 computers per the SLA. Just connect the phone with the apps you want to share to the itunes account you want to share them with. DO NOT SYNC! Go uo to file & select Transfer purchases made on this ipod to this computer. All purchased content, including music will be transferred to this account.

    Hi, I am using Windows 8 and iPhone 4S. Recently both Windows and iTunes cannot detect my iPhone. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest iTunes and related software, but no use.   • Cannot sync iphone 3gs with itunes 10.3

    Iphone will not sync with itunes because itunes freezes everytime the phone is plugged into computer. I have windows 7 32 bit machine. I have also tried on macbook pro 10.3 itunes and it crashes as well. I cannot restore my phone because itunes freezes. It deleted all my music from my phone, however it still lists that the music is still on the phone. I have a iphone 3gs 4.3.2, cannot download and install 4.3.3 due to itunes freezing.

    I can't sync with iTunes too. My 3GS was updated to 4.3.3 (8J2) by the local Mac store yesterday after a failed attempt to update from 4.1 using iTunes version 10.3.1. All apps, photos, contacts, etc was wiped.
    Because I can't see my iPhone in iTunes I can't restore it. I've tried restarting the PC, and trying different USB ports to no avail.

  • Cannot activate iPhone 3GS!

    I was given an iphone 3GS by my father who got it as an upgrade on the orange network, he had no use for it so gave it to me. I, in my ignorance, inserted my o2 sim card, it worked for half an hour then shut down. It then sat in the box unused for a few months while I waited for my o2 contract to run out and I have now got a new orange contract. I took the phone out again, DFU restored it after it being locked, went through the settings until I got to the activate stage. It is now telling me that it cannot activate and to try through itunes. However itunes tells me there is no sim card! I have done everything it has told me to no avail. The phone has never been unlocked, officially or unofficially, so I dont see why it wouldnt work after restoring the factory settings. Its an orange phone, orange sim card. Please help!!!

    I have already contacting Apple about this problem as they said no-one else could reslove it i.e carphpne warehouse etc... Mine had been jailbroken so i thought it had effected it in someway, but ive tried everything and cant get it to work.
    Apple told me i wasnt under warranty so therefore i would either have to send it to them (as they'd not heard of this problem before) OR i go to my nearest Apple store, which is over 100 miles away for me. I asked how much it will cost to send it to Apple she said £126.56..And that was just to look at it. She did however say it would be cheaper going into an Apple store, but not much. I said forget it and bought another second hand phone as it worked out cheaper. My other iphone remains the same and keeps saying unable to activeate iphone. Sorry i know its not much help really but possibly if someone else finds out the problem they could let us know?!! here's hoping anyways.

    Yes but it is not ATT. I am overseas and I cannot connect to ATT Cell Tower. Moreover it iTune does help also. It seats and times out.

    i am using Windows Vista with my 1.1.2 iPhone & iTunes 7.5
    iTunes cannot detect my iPhone when i plug it via the USB cable to my computer, while Vista can detect it and i can access the photos inside iPhone with the link my computer\Apple iPhone\Internal Storage\DCIM\100APPLE.
    the interesting fact is that when i turn off the "program control" (a function in my firewall, ZoneAlarm). iTunes can then detect the iPhone can they can sync(ringtones, music, contacts successfully get into iphone)!
    if i switch on the "prgram control" in zonealarm after they sync, disconnect iphone and reconnect it, an error message will be shown, something like "iTunes cannot connect to iPhone [^2], unknown error (0xE8000001)"

    Obviously it's an issue with ZoneAlarm. Why not contact their support or post on their forums? May be a common problem. Or maybe look for a different firewall/security software.

  • Cannot sync Iphone 3gs - application error

    Has anyone else had issues with the sync failing because Itunes said it couldn't determine the apps installed on the phone? I recently had updated my Itunes to the latest version and then the Iphone 3GS to IOS 5. Since then, I haven't been able to sync. I have never had this amount of issues between Itunes and IOS updates since I got the phone, so this is a tad bit disturbing. Windows 7 box if you are curious on my PC O/S.

    I would try and reboot your phone and see if this helps. Hold down the power button and the home button for 10 seconds, or until the screen goes black and continue to hold down the power button until you see the apple logo come on.

  • Cannot activate iPhone 3GS iOS6, it wants SIM

    I just upgraded my old iPhone 3GS to iOS6.
    Now it wants a valid SIM (which I do not have) in order to work.   I already did a restore, no success.
    It also wants to join wifi, otherwise it will not work, which I can do.  However, it will simply not go past the SIM stage.
    Must be related to iOS6. Is it some stupid thing Apple came up with?
    There were no such problems in iOS5.

    I do not have another working SIM (all my active phones have microsim).  I tried to insert the micro in a regular SIM frame but I do not have the right tool to carve it out.
    Anyway, this has naver been a problem. If it is an iOS6 "feature" than it is unfortunately beyond stupid.

    Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me find a solution to my problem.
    When a backup is attempted, it starts off as if it's working, then stops and the following error message appears: "iTunes could not backup iPhone because the iPhone disconnected". But, the iPhone doesn't really disconnect! It must be some type of internal glitch.
    The iPhone is a 3GS and I have mostly pictures and contacts, two songs, a total of 33 apps. The iOS is updated (6.1.6). I do not know if this phone was ever jailbroke. I have been able to backup this phone before, but cannot now. The last backup was 9/21/13, it is now 3/2/14.
    Sorry if there is too much info, or not the correct info to find a solution!
    Also, I must say that although I am not a tekkie, I've seen many different types of various programs and I find that iTunes is not very intuitive...don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, just my humble opinion.

    A big THANK YOU!! to you! Your suggestions worked!
    Before I changed USB ports (more on that in a sec...), I employed one of your suggestions that you gave to someone else with the same problem...and that was to clean the connector on the bottom of the phone with a soft dry tooth brush. I couldn't believe the amount of lint that came out! Especially what was found in either end...had to do some very careful picking. (Almost enough lint to knit a small sweater!!)
    Changing the USB port was the second and final step required for a successful backup. My computer is a laptop, and I did have a USB Bluetooth adapter (for another device) installed. I removed  the adapter, plugged the iPhone into that USB port, crossed my fingers...and it worked!!!
    Now if I can figure out the rest of this darn program, I might upgrade to a new iPhone!
