Cannot Detect Router

Hello, i'm trying to set up a wireless router and i am baffled with this one.  I can connect to the internet just fine from the Verizon Westell DSL modem, but when i used the setup CD and it got the point of Modem > Router > Computer, setup would error and tell me the router was not detected. I have steady green lights on the modem and router, everything that should be lit up is lit up.
I used online help and called and the options told to me were to Download the firmware upgrade and easyconnect, but neither of those will detect the router either, so they didn't really help at all.
Just looking for some possible solutions
the router is a WRT54G  Ver.6
I'm using Windows XP Home, with SP2 installed
ISP is Verizon, with a Westell DSL modem, connecting with Cat5 ethernet cables (just figured i'd throw that in there, saw another post where someone was using the USB connection.)

When you are connected to the modem, which IP address do you get? Is it possible you get one with 192.168.1.*? If that is the case, your modem has a router running as well and having the identical network on a WAN and LAN interface of a router is always doomed.
Also, make sure when you are trying to setup the router that your computer does not establish its own internet connection through the modem at that time. Make sure it does not dial automatically. If it does, your router is basically bypassed.
I would suggest you disconnect the router from the modem. Wire a computer to it. Then go to http://192.168.1.1/ and configure the router to connect to your ISP (e.g. setup PPPoE if required). Once you have setup the internet connection you reconnect it to the modem.

I cannot detect my wireless HP desk jet 3520 printer from my iPad?

I can't find an Arris router with that model number, are you sure it is not a TG862?
Regardless, Arris routers are known to either be incompatible with Bonjour or have problems with Bonjour packets hence Airprint will not work. Check with Arris' website and see if there is a firmware update availble for your router for Bonjour/Airprint compatibility and install it or switch out your router.

  • Help Connect me phone adapter cannot detect phon...

    Hi there,
I recently bought Freetalk Connect Me phone adapter through Skype website. When I hook up phone line, ethernet and wall line as instructed, the setup wizard successfully detect my internect connection. However, it cannot detect my wireless phone. I tried another wireless phone but it failed again. I try to replace my existing voip to skype so I'm pretty sure my phone works well. During the initial setup, I saw the red light goes to flashing green light while trying to detect my phone....then it goes to red and repeat again.
Does anyone have this problem before? I try to locate Freetalk customer service number, but they don't have one.

  • AAAGGHHH!!! Have WRT54G V8, all lights a go, but cannot detect internet connection

Any help is a Plus!!! Just bought my wife a WRT54G V8 router from Best Buy. The thing is less than 2 weeks old. Have yet to figure how to set it up. I have ran the CD, it gets to about %89, stops and says "Cannot detect internet connection, ck cables and try again". Have went through the speal w/the phone self help setup, downloaded the instructions from the Liksys support site, and set on hold for about 30 minutes before getting sick of waiting for help. I don't have a firewall other than the Windows firewall, my DSL service is through Verizon (MSN). When the router is hooked up I can't sign on to the internet at all. If I unhook the router and hook the modem back into the computer it works fine. I am at a loss, Please Help!!!

check first what is your ip when you are connected straight to your modem
if it is 192.168.1.1, disconnect the modem from the internet port of the router
turn the router off wait 10 sec. then back on
with the pc connected to e.g. port no. 1 on the router, open internet explorer, on the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 - uname  none/blank  password admin
then on set up look for local ip address change that to 192.168.2.1
Melsky, this is a very confusing post. You say to check the ip you get when connected to the modem, if it is a 192.168.1.1 address then disconnect the modem from the internet port of router.
First, you would never get a 192.168.1.1 address from the modem. If the modem has a built in router or just a dhcp server IT would most likely be 192.168.1.1 so it would not assign that address to anything else.
Second, you say to check ip directly connected to modem, but then you say to disconnect the router if the address is a 192.168 address. If they connect directly to the modem, the router is already disconnected.
    Very confusing.

  • TS1538 Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows.

Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows. However, the driver "Microsoft teredo Tunneling adapter" has a yellow exclamation mark, which i believe means it's not installed correctly or something is wrong with it. This driver is under the Network Adapters (Please see picture below).
This is what happens when I connect my iPhone 4s to my laptop (Windows 7 Starter 32-bit)
    1. The phone charges it's battery
    2. I can open it in My Computer and import/export media files.
    In iTunes
    3. It start to sync until step 3 then stops.
    4. The iPhone option with an arrow appears beside the iTunes Store, but when the arrow is clicked it disappears.
I hope you can provide me a solution for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Ralph

    Hi ralphagir,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
For your iTunes issue with it not recognizing your iPhone, I would go ahead and suggest deleting iTunes and all of its components from your Windows computer and installing fresh.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
As far as the arrow button that you click and the iPhone disappears, it sounds like you may be clicking on the eject button. Please take a look at the following article for information on the eject button in iTunes.

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.

  • My v3753au (32bit win7) bios cannot detect internal dvdrom & hard to detect internal hdd?

    hi...
my v3753au is wonderfully running on 32 bit win7.  lately the bios cannot detect the internal dvdrom & kinda hard to detect (longer than usual) the internal hdd during startup.  i've tried with the other dvdrom & it's still the same.  however, the one that i used is still ok on other laptop.  fyi, i've tried with the original f.15 version as well as the latest f.28 version but both let me down.  when win7 runs, dvdrom doesn't appear either in win explorer or device manager.  i've also checked the registry for that filter thing but it isn't there.  any suggestions of what should i try next?
    tq for the help...

    > I couldn't reinstall/recover new system from CD cos Win7 couldn't detect any drive while installing.
Its no matter if the SATA mode is set to AHCI or compatible mode. The HDD should be recognized by BIOS even if the AHCI mode has been selected.
At the first BIOS page the HDD should be listed with the name and size.
If it isnt the case, it could be possible that your HDD controller is faulty.
What HDD did you purchase exactly? Is it a 2.5 SATA HDD?
