Cannot dial toll-free numbers

This morning I had to call an 866- number, and received a recorded message from Verizon "We're sorry, your number cannot be completed as dialed.  Please check the number and try again....blah blah".   Repeated attempts produced only a fast "busy" signal.  This number is in my CONTACTS and I've called it numerous times in the past, so I know I have the right number!  Tried to dial from my husband's wireless phone and got the same recorded message.
I then tried to call various long-distance (non-verizon) numbers - no problem.
Called a local number (non-verizon) - no problem.
Then I tried an 800- number and received the same recorded message as above.
I do not have a land line, so I went to my neighbor's house to make the 866- phone call from her land line -- no problem!  The call went through immediately.
Just wondering if there is a known problem with toll-free calls right now??   Hopefully it's not just me and they're working on it!

There must be a fiber line cut somewhere around us as I can not call an 800 number either. I am about ten miles away from you.

Check this post, the dial assist is part of the iOS 7.1, according to page 49 of the iphone_user_guide
Make calls to your contacts and favorites while traveling abroad. (GSM) Go to Settings > Phone and turn on Dial Assist. Dial Assist automatically adds the prefix or country code for calls to the U.S.

  • Cannot connect to ANY toll free numbers in the USA...

I am unable to use Skype to call ANY toll free numbers any where on the planet EVER! 95% of them are in the USA and 5% are in Canada. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling etc. but it is useless. I can only make calls with the company's main numbers or non toll free numbers for a fee.  Can any one help? Is Skype blocking toll free numbers? Thank you in advance for any information!

Usually the toll free number resides at the service provider and they just translate that number into one of your DIDs.   You can either look through documentation or call the service provider to ask which 1800 numbers map to which DIDs.   From there it sounds like you'll need to investigate call handlers in your voicemail system correlated to that DID.

  • Unable to call UK toll-free numbers

Since the beginning of April, calls to UK toll-free numbers beginning with +44500 have not been working. Skype returns an error message of invalid number. Anyone able to advise? Thank you.

  • Toll- ¨FREE¨numbers are not so Free with a subscri...

I am in Mexcio, needing to make a nuber of calls to Canada & the USA, many of them toll-free numbers (1-800 / 1-888...) but, my PAID SKYPE subscription has been eaten up by these Toll-free numbers, which have you navigate through voice menu options, which then eats up time.
And of course I can´t get any Skype support beyond communty members issues, that have their own issues with skype & don´t answer my issue directly.
    This is ridiculous!
I have managed to get a hold of other websites / providers who don´t even begin to make the money Skypde does, so what IS the money being used for, since customer support is clearly not one of them, nor is good user-friendly websdesign???!!
    Completely unimpressed Skype.
Feels like a scammer who won´t allow himself to be contacted. Why? Too busy selling more product to unwary buyers.

I have a similar problem! Everything stopped working after upgrading to Mac OS 10.8.4 through the App Store. Help!

Eg : 800326xxxx is the number. Request is - When people call in, they have to press 1 for billing and 2 for sales and 3 for enquiry and 4 for voice mail.
How do I go for it. Where should I start.

  • Re-directing Toll free numbers to Skype

    Hi,
Our company in Australia has started using skype for communication purposes and we would like to add a toll-free number to the services. I have discovered from the other posts that skype doesn't allow to add toll-free numbers.
If so, can we re-direct the toll-free numbers to the skype numbers so that we can continue tracking the call logs and take maximum benefit from using skype.
Please let me know the procedure to do the above.
    Thank you

  • Getting Bombarded by Telemarketers and Toll-Free Numbers

Okay, let's start from the beginning:
Preface, we have had the same cell phone numbers for over 10 years and we have not had one telemarketing or unwanted call.
We started with Verizon Digital Voice on August 26th. By September 1st, we got our first telemarketing call. By September 15th, we had enough telemarketing calls to demand a phone number change.
When we got a new number, we demanded that the phone number be non-published (which the first number was supposed to be). We also received asistance with Incoming Call Block. We thought the issue was resolved. Dead Wrong.
    To bring things to a head, we are getting cushed by toll-free numbers and telemarketers. Here are the phone numbers that are currently in our Incoming Call Block list: (800) 238-3770    (800) 477-6441    (800) 715-6478    (800) 726-9594    (800) 727-1182    (800) 978-7819    (866) 265-5945    (866) 759-8002    (888) 277-8353    (888) 688-0224
Here is the problem, one of these numbers, (800) 477-6441, consistently gets through the block. I have done the following to try and resolve this issue:
    - Removed the phone number and add it back in
    - Forward the phone number to a Google Voice number
    - Added all personal and business phone numbers to the Federal Do-Not-Call list
We are getting very annoyed with this situation and have even thought about getting something like http://www.digitone.com/ to supplement the phone service. Is there anything that we can do outside of added hardware? Does Verizon offer a way to block all toll-free numbers?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Oh, okay. Thanks for clarifying. Luckily for us, there is no Early Termination Fee because we are not under contract. Our complex has a terrific deal with Verizon which includes no contract. That being said, if we do decide to get the device, I will absolutely give a honest, objective review.

  • Calls to UK toll-free numbers +44500

Since Oct. 24th 2014, calls to UK toll-free numbers +44500 have not been working. The message given by Skype is NUMBER NOT VALID. Does anyone know why? or who to speak to to report the problem? Thank you

That generally means the area code at this time is unreachable via the Skype network.   I understand the range is going to be fully retired/replaced in the future but that's still a few years off.  This is more than likely a temporary setback for whatever reason though they may have had reasons to exclude it permanently.  It would be best to contact Skype Customer Service to inquire about it.  I personally have tried several 0500 numbers and received the same error for all of them.

  • Cannot fax 1 800 / 888 / toll free numbers from overseas

    Dear HP,
I'm writing because using your fax machine from Germany (or Europe in general) for doing work with US firms is almost impossible. Since the US has had many fax numbers move from traditional area codes to 800 or 888 (free numbers) I am often unable to send faxes with this very expensive fax/scanner/printer that I bought. Your firm ware wrong gives up on connecting too early since when dialing/faxing a toll free number in the US prompts an audio recording first stating that "When calling a toll free number outside of the US you will be charged normal dialing rates. Stay on the line if you wish to continue". However, the HP fax machine just gives up and there seems to be no way to change / fix for this. Please advise since I obviously cannot be the only person outside of the US trying to do business with US companies. Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Aaron

    Hello Aaron,
For a such perfor a manual dialing from the fax, that should overcome a such.
Follow these steps to send such a fax internationally, basically press on Start Fax and dial when you hear a dial tone by following the steps, the fax will act as any other phone..

  • Most calls I can be heard, except 800/toll free numbers

For some strange reason that no one can answer, I can call and recieve calls and be heard just fine. But when I call a toll free 800 number (like for customer service) I cannot be heard at all? At first, I thought my microphone was faulty, but I called my wife's phone to test and make sure, but she heard me fine, so I made a call to a friend, and he heard me just fine. I even had him call me back, and no problems, so I called AT&T using 611, and they could not hear me. I also noticed my dial tones stopped working (the sound you hear when you press a key for menu options during an automated call). Even stranger is I don't get that little bell sound when I plug it in to charge. Anyone else have this problem or have a solution short of upgrading to 6.0? I don't want to upgrade, as I like my set up now.

Thanks Debbelle for the feedback & suggestions!
    bwprater,
I can understand the need to block unwanted soliciting callers, companies and spammers!  I would like to explain the Call & Messaging Block capabilities, as well as the Do Not Call List Procedures.
Account Members with access to My Verizon can block up to five ten-digit phone numbers from unwanted incoming calls and messages for 90 days.  Limited to five 10-digit phone numbers only.  Verizon Wireless Financial Services Call Center or collection agency numbers cannot be entered or blocked.  International numbers may not be added.  Other numbers on the account should not be added.
It is illegal for other companies to make telemarketing calls to Verizon Wireless customers using either an automatic dialing system, or an artificial voice or prerecorded message.  It is legal, however, for other companies to make live telemarketing calls to Verizon Wireless customers.  If a you are receiving such calls, you have the option of filing a complaint regarding the matter with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) or FTC (Federal Trade Commission).  We can add you to the Do Not Solicit List at VZW, or you can call directly at: 888-382-1222 to have your wireless mobile number added.

  • Blocking toll free numbers

I would like to be able to block entire area codes so that I do not have to accept any calls from marketers, bill collectors, or other spammers. This might include all 888, 866, 800, or any other area code. How can I do this?

Thanks Debbelle for the feedback & suggestions!

  • IPhone will not send stored DTMF tones to toll free numbers?

Has anybody else noticed this? When I program my iPhone to connect
to a teleconferencing service (ATT's ironically), the DTMF tones are not
tansmitted. If I change the dial in number to a "caller paid" area code,
the tones are transmitted fine. Probably something to make it more difficult
for consumers to use cheaper international calling accounts.
For example a number such as 866 NNN NNNN , XXXXXXXX will not transmist the numbers after the pause, but change the are code to 865, and it does.

I'm having the same issue. We use a calling card to make international calls and could really benefit from the ability to send 15 digits at a time from the address book. I do it on the RAZR, albeit ungracefully, though it's a smooth operation on my SE W810.
Any thoughts on how this might work (if it does) on the iPhone would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    va

  • Can no longer connect to toll-free 888, 866, 877 numbers from iPhone

Why not call the non-toll free numbers. It costs the same. Some toll free numbers have territorial limits and sometimes cell phones, even though they are in the proper territory, the way that they are routed sometimes cause toll free numbers to reject them.

...which is very weird, because these are all toll-free confrence lines that I routinely dial into on a weekly basis.  What is going on? I CAN dial into these lines from my land line, so the problem is not on that end.  Anyone else experience this -- and hopefully a solution?  So far, I seem to be stumping the techs on the live chat.
