Cannot discover instance1 on cluster database

This is strange one for me. I have over a hundred of cluster database configured in 11g EM but somehow
this one cluster database on a 2 node rac only see the second instance, not the the first instance when try to add the cluster database to EM.
I have added many thru the 'add cluster database' drop down option at the agent home page. Both instances are up and running. The 'auto add' said
no new instance was found.
Has anyone seen this before?

I was able to add instance1 by running agentca -d -c node1,node2 manually
on node1. The instance2 was discovered using auto add in EM.

we als can not find any misconfiguration and can ping all routes.
If I try to restart the instances with sqlplus startup
ORA-00119: invalid specification for system parameter REMOTE_LISTENER
ORA-00132: syntax error or unresolved network name 'borac4-prod:1521'
We did not change anything at the configuration :-/
I can ping the SCAN address from dns configuration "ping borac4-prod:" also telnet established a connection "telnet borac4-prod 1521"
We start all instances via SPFILE from an ASM instance
Does anyone has some ideas to dig the problem out ?

CloudControl 12c shows "Agent Unreachable" for Cluster Database

Hello ,
when clicking on "Targets -> Databases" our RAC database shows up as follows:
Name Type Status
PROD02 Cluster Database symbol for "Agent Unreachable"
PROD021 Database Instance symbol "green arrow" for "Up"
PROD022 Database Instance symbol "green arrow" for "Up"
I don't understand why the symbol for the Cluster Database is not a green arrow, too. The agent on each node is up and running - and when either clicking on "PROD02" or "PROD021" (or PROD022) Cloud Control offers the full functionality. Therefore the status "Agent Unreachable" is missleading (from my point of view). I don't want to remove the complete Cluster Database and discover it once again - several jobs have already been defined and I don't want to do that once again.
Did anybody else experience the same behaviour?
Any help will get appreciated...

CloudControl 12c: when adding cluster-database single instances are missing

Hello ,
I'e have installed the agent 12c on every single host of our RAC. When adding a database to CloudControl 12c just the RAC-instance gets discovered - but not the single database instances on each host.
Due to this when clicking targets -> databases I just see the cluster-database - but not every single instance of the database.
Compared to another RAC database this is totally different behaviour.
Any help will be appreciated

maybe I should try to explain the issue a little bit clearer...
We have one RAC database called PROD02. When clicking "targets -> databases" I see the following:
PROD02 of type Cluster Database
PROD021 of type Database Instance
PROD022 of type Database Instance
That's the way it shoudl be - that's the way I expected it...
For the newly cofgured RAC database, called PREP02, it looks different when clicking "targets -> databases"
PREP02 of type Cluster Database
The single instances don't show up. Of course I see the single instances when clicking on "PREP02" under the item "Instances".
Now I wonder why these two RAC databases are differently displayed when clicking "targets -> databases". When trying to add the single instances (clicking "Add" under "targets -> databases") and selecting then either "only on the host <hostname>" or "on all hosts in the cluster" no single instances are found or displayed...

Cannot discover 9iAS/817db nodes

I have configured two servers each running Windows 2000 Server SP1, Oracle 8.1.7.1.5 EE, and Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.
I followed the Confiuration guide "A Step By Step Guide to install Oracle8i Rel 3 (V8.1.7) and Oracle9iAS Rel1(V1.0.2.2) On Windows NT" from Metalink for this installation.
I want to use OEM to administrer the 8i databases.
I've ensured that the Oracle 8.1.7 Home Agent is running on both machines, but I cannot discover the nodes with OEM.
I can connect to them via SQL*PLUS and DBA STUDIO.
Have checked to make sure tnsnames.ora in all homes include the machines. Both machines reside on the LAN under the same domain as the OEM console and management server.
Have tried manually configuring the nodes.

I'll answer my own question. The 'Static' IP addresses that the LAN guys gave me were also being served up by DHCP. Strangely, though, 9iAS and the database functioned fine in this situation. Only the OEM discoverer choked on it. Everything works fine now that I've gotten real static IP addresses. OEM Discoverer found the nodes immediately.

Does anybody know how we can blackout a RAC cluster database?

When attempting to start a blackout for a cluster database we get the message:
"<DB NAME>" is a cluster target, hence skipping it. Please use EM console.
Is there an api to allow us to do this from a script just prior to a scheduled refresh?

Apparantly Oracle thinks its a feature:
Symptoms
Grid Control 10.2.0.2
Agent 10.2.0.2
Cluster RAC database 10.2.0.2 or 9.2.0.6
The command line 'emctl start blackout test <RAC database target>' fails to initiate a blackout
against a cluster database target, returning the message "<EM102:rac_database>" is a cluster
target, hence skipping it. Please use EM console.
A blackout for the same target type is established successfully using the EM console.
Cause
The emctl utility cannot be used to control blackouts for clustered targets.
This is a limitation when using emctl to control blackouts against clustered targets, because the
command needs to be issued simultaneously on all the agents in the cluster.
Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Use the EM Console to establish the blackout for clustered targets. You will find the Black Out
option in the General section on the home page of any application server target. For composite
targets like OracleAS Farms, you will find this option in the Administration tab.

SharePoint 2007:Cannot connect to the configuration database.

The share point 2007 server under Windows Server 2008 R2 runs well formerly, but suddenly the user can't visit the site with error on page:

Creation of cluster database failed

Hai all,
We have successfully implemented Oracle 10g RAC on windows 2003.. but when am trying to create a new cluster database using DBCA ..DBCA failed after reaching 70% with the error
PRKR-1001 PRKR-1001 "cluster database dbname does not exist"
The other database is working fine and all services are up

can you see the db registered in CRS by running crs_stat -t, seems like issue with reigtring db with CRS. Please check dbca logs and crs logs for details.

We have had several customers report this after installing DPM 2012 R2.
To get past the below error while scheduling reports to be mailed.
Reporting Services Server cannot connect to the DPM database.
To repair the configuration, follow steps for repairing DPM from DPM Setup Help.
ID: 3001
Perform the following steps as necessary:
1. Created a new local group called "DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>"
2. Created a new user called, "DPMR$<DPMServerName>" and added this user to DPMDBReader group that we created on step 1.
3. Open SQL management studio and add the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName group to Logins under Security in SQL Management Studio.
4. Modify the properties and under General – change the default database to the current DPMDB name.
5. Under User Mapping – select the current DPMDB name and check the db_datareader checkbox.
6. In SQL Management Studio, navigate to the Databases > DPMDB > Security > Users > and select the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group.
Right-click the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group and select properties. Under the
Securables section, click on Search. On the add objects dialog, click OK.
On the Select Objects dialog, click the Objects type, then check the
stored procedure checkbox. Browse and add the following two stored procedures
“Prc_MOM_Heartbeat_Get” and “prc_MOM_ProductionServer_Get”.    Grant the Execute permission for both of the stored procedures added.
7. In SQL Reporting Services Configuration manager, under Report Manager URL - click on the link to open the portal (http://localhost/Reports)
      i. Click on the DPMReoprts_GUID to open the DPM reports.
      ii. Click on the DPMReporterDataSource
      iii. On the poperties page, enabled "Credentials stored securely in the report server" on DPMReporterDataSource configuration page and added “DPMR$<DPMServerName>” user account that we created in step 2.
      iv. tick "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source."
      v.   Click ‘Test connection’ on the same page to verify whether it can connect successfully.
8. In SQL Reporting configuration manager - change the Service Account to use build-in account: Network Service
9. Reboot the DPM Server.
10. You should then be able to schedule e-mailed reports.

Thanks for this... I actually wanted to pair my iPad with my iPod touch so I can use the keynote remote app in my iPod touch to control my keynote presentations... I was able to control my presentations through wifi... I wanted to use the bluetooth since internet connection is quite slow.. The app tells me I can connect through bluetooth with my iPad but sadly, it can't... I've been trying to pair them but the can't discover each other... :(

I encountered the same problem in Oracle Forms 10g (9.0.4.0.19) with an Oracle 10g database. My error was caused by default values in the form of a function call in one of the procedures functions
f.e.
package my_package
function my_function
( par1 varchar2
, par2 varchar2 default my_function_in_another_package
) return varchar2;
end;
Remove the default value in the function parameter par2 and everything works fine

Cluster Database Connect Works Only in stand-alone OEM

When I connect to OEM standalone, I can connect to the cluster database with no problem. When I try to connect with the management server, it gives me the ORA-12514 error. The service name works both in SQLplus and in stand-alone mode.
My console is running on a windows XP machine, the management server and OEM catalog are on a machine running 9.2, the cluster resides on two other machines running 9.2.
What do I need to change to get OEM to let me open the cluster database using the management server?

Try to create a service like this one and try:

Cannot connect to the configuration database

I tried to configure my server with active directory after I have successfully configured sharepoint . For a mistake , they made me delete the active directory and now when I try to connect to the admin section or site page it me give the following error :
"Cannot connect to the configuration database"
Deleting the active directory ; I noticed that all the other users have disappeared and the service : SQL AGENT ( Sharepoint ) not run and the error is :
" This installation of SQL Server Agent is disabled. The edition of SQL Server that installed this service does not support SQL Server Agent." Thank you for the Help

Was the active directory server that you removed the last active directory server in the farm? If so then your only two real choices are to rebuild everything from scratch or restore everything from backup.
If it was just that you were trying to make the SharePoint server into a Domain Controller, then I still think you may need to rebuild. But you can try re-adding the SharePoint server to the Domain. It may have lost its Domain membership when you removed
AD from it and gone back to being a standalone server.
