Cannot distinguish between left and right sounds IN EARPHONES. Please help!!

when i connect my earphone, i cannot distinguish between left and right sounds (which gives a plesant effect); both left and right sounds are same. Earlier it use to work fine. I realised about this problem when an app-3D audio illusion was was not giving proper sounds, and my ipod songs were also sounding dull. i hav removed that app, but still my ipod songs sound monotonous. I have tried using different headphones, but problem still persists. I am not sure wheather this is a hardware or software issue..PLEASE HELP!!

You're welcome. And thanks for marking question as solved.
Happy listening

  • Surround- left and right gone...please help

When I switch my tracks over to surround... L and R (1+2) are gone! i can sweep the dot around the surround and hear all the channels except for left and right...
but in stereo mode they work fine...
    help!

Thank you. Before I tried to go this route, I restarted the computer. That took care of the back and forward problems, but the bookmarks were still missing. I went into Time Machine and restored the application settings folder from 2 days ago. Now everything seems to work fine. If it decides to be a problem in the next couple of days, I will go this route.
    Thanks again for your response.

  • Discerning between left and right ctrl key(events)

I hope this is possible. If yes just point me in the right direction if too complex to explain in a couple a lines.
    Thanks in advance

I could be wrong but I don't think you can. In Java,
both left and right ctrl keys produce the same key
code (17). It used to be that these two keys
were 'hardwired' to the same function on the keyboard
but I'm not sure if this has changed..I don't think so.
    No, I don't think it's possible.... besides, from a
user interface point of view, why would you want to do
that? Do you know any piece of software that does it?jaffab is right, Client Access for AS/400 makes a distinction between the left and right control keys, as do a number of games.
Unfortunately, the java AWT doesn't :-(
I would tentatively suggest that it would be possible, using JNI, but I imagine it wouldn't be simple to get a key listener set up in C/C++ that would trigger a java event - being the only way I can think of to differentiate between left and right control keys.
Given its infeasibility, I'd recommend having the control key do absolutely nothing - far easier to recover from, especially since reset and enter are such diametrically opposed functions!
Heh, you could always pop up a message box if they press and release control without pressing another key between, saying what to press for reset or accept, respectively :-)
    -Troy
Random trivia - I think the default set up in Client Access is like that because on the original keyboards used with the green screens, the keys in those corners were reset and enter! Users who had gotten used to typing without looking at the keyboard wanted the functions in the same place, rather than on the keys with the same name.
IBM never has been happy doing things the same way as everyone else - database 'tables' are called 'files', 'schemas' are 'libraries'... trying to teach Java to one of the ILE/RPG programmers here, and we still have trouble with the english language differences, trying to explain what the programming language is doing!
Well, that certainly wasn't the few-line post it was supposed to be...

  • How to split left and right sound signal from SI READ Stereo?

How to split left and right sound signal from SI READ Stereo?
I want to display the left and right sound signal in two graph separately, what shall I do?
That is how to split 2D arry to two 1D arry?

    Hello,
Here's another trick...although the "Index Array" suggestion will work, you should investigate using the "Delete from Array" function...you can tell it to delete one of the columns (or rows), leaving one column (or row)...the function will output both the resulting array AND the deleted array, which happens to be the other row/column...this method might not be as intuitive, but it only makes one copy of data in memory, while the Index Array method makes two copies.
I hope this suggestion helps. I only found out about this trick with "Delete from Array" the other day.

  • How do i isolate Left and right sound on X-Fi ca

    Hey all,
Wonder if anyone knows how to turn off left channel sound and vice versa. I play alot of Karaoke VCDs and they usually have left channel as music and right channel as music with vocal but i can't find the option to turn off either left or right.
I usually do this by using the L/R slider in wondows mixer but when i do this with the X-Fi card the left channel (music only) seems to be a mix of L&R resulting in hearing the vocal. Strangly this doesn't happen when playing in Power DVD the slider method works fine, but with apps like real player, media player, media source etc. the problem presists.
Any Ideas? Appriciate any help ^.^
    (Running X-Fi Platinum with Logitech Z5500 5.)

    Jason,
I've tried turning off cmss but it still doesn't do the job. I find it strange that there is no problem with Power DVD but with other applications. Does this mean it might be a application problem?
    Mmm...running out of ideas....

  • TestStand cannot distinguish between capital and small letters

I've made an update from some Step Types that I've created in a computer into the TestStation. The name of all the files inside those Step Types are written in capital letters, but when I try to edit the Step Type under TestStand, this one tells me that he can not find it. For example, I have a VI with name "FrozenPictreTest.vi" associated with a Step Type. Then I say, specify module and TestStand cannot find it in its place because for TestStand "FROZENPICTURETEST.VI" is a different name as in small letter. Can somebody tell me how can I solve this problem? Thanks a lot!
    Angel

    Hi Scott and Ray,
I'm using TS 2.0.1, LV 6.1 and Windows 2000. I attach you a the VIs of a Step Type that I'm using and that TS cannot recognize because they are not written in small letters.

  • True Stereo Left and Right Separation from Mac

    Hello All,
This is quite long so please be patient.
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get "true" left and right playback for split tracks through iTunes. By "true" I mean that neither the right track bleeds through the left or left through right. I use a lot of split tracks in our church and am trying to do it straight through iTunes.
I tested it with a stereo feed coming from the headphone jack to two independent speakers playing through iTunes. The instruments come out the right and the vocals come out the left. When I unplugged the left speaker (vocal) I could hear the vocal bleeding through the right speaker.
To further test this I burned a CD of the same song, played it through a stereo and could separate the left and right audio. I played the same CD through iTunes and unplugged the left speaker and could hear the vocal bleeding through the right speaker.
One last test, I opened Quicktime and selected the same track from the CD, played it through Quicktime, unplugged the left speaker and the vocal did NOT bleed through the right speaker.
So lesson learned, unless I am missing something - iTunes cannot really separate left and right signal from mp3's on the hard drive or burned audio on a CD.
By the way, if anyone knows how to accomplish this true split I would be grateful to hear it.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Ok.... I did some further testing.
I went back and noticed that in preferences under playback there is a checkbox for sound enhancer. With this checked you will get bleed of the left channel into the right channel. With it unchecked you will get the separation needed to play split tracks. Looks like I answered my own question. Hahaha.
Thanks everyone that looked into this,
    Greg

  • I get noise when I combine left and right from the headphone output.

I need to combine the left and right channels of a Macbook Pro at the output connector.  When I build the cable to do this, there is significant static noise introduced.  If I break the short between left and right, the noise goes away.
(I'm doing this to put both channels of audio into a single side of a set of headphones, and I really don't want to buy a mixer.)

    Eddie,
I just ran a test on my G5 Logic system (Logic 9.02) with an internal RME PCI 8in/8out Audio Card and I get perfect separation bouncing to a stereo audio file using standard panning. Click on one side and a couple of crunchy guitars on the other. Each side is completely separate.
So, it seems to point to your hardware unless you have some other audio routing that we've missed.
I'm re-doing my setup so I may try a couple of other tests as I go along.

  • Left and Right audio channel

I have a video clip that has two different sound track on each channel, one on right channel and one on left channel.  So when I play normal both sound track come up on the same time.  In Window platform, I can change the speaker output into either left/right to isolate one channel, but how can I do this in Mac OS?  I tried the one in system preference, it didn't work, when I switch it to right channel, it just played both sound track from the right speaker, but not isolating the right sound track.  Please help.

In your Applications/utilities folder is a program called AudioMIDI setup.
Just move the slider of the channel you want to mute.

  • My ipod's music quality is inferior. It doesnt have the surround sound/ left and right audio channel unlike my brothers ipod? is there a problem with the chip?

I have an ipod touch 4g (8GB), I got this about 2.5 months ago, the same time my brother get his. My problem is that I noticed that audio quality is better on his device than mine. I have been listening to music and had different music devices before (non-Apple product and mobile phone) and the quality of music is better when I used to listen to those devices as well as my brother's ipod touch. Im referring to the left and right audio channels. Im not so good about the technical stuff but the best explanation I can give you is in a music or a movie, there's an effect wherein you can here a sound only at the left ear phone/speaker that you cant hear at the right earphone/speaker. I mean for example in a song, a guitar intro can be heared only at the left
ear while the background music plays on the other ear. Or when theres and echo effect on the song that alternates sound on the left and right ear. I hope youre getting what Im trying to say. Im bothered that my ipod is fake or has an internal problem on the chips or something because I didnt bought this at an Apple Center/Mac Center. I bought it on a retailer. I am not able to visit any store or Genius Bar  or contact an apple specialist through phone because of my work schedule and work load.  I have contacted the retailer before when I tried to return it for replacement or repair but he told me that it is under Apple's warranty, not theirs. I do hope that I can get a help from you because I want to really enjoy my device. Thank you and Im looking forward for the responce/assistance form you.

I suggest you don't apply pressure to the screen - it's a Touch - you touch the screen not push it.

  • I'm using GarageBand 10.0.1. Do the built-in drum tracks only come in mono format, or is it possible to make them true stereo (i.e. Left and Right channels outputing different signals, to sound like the kit has been panned across the stereo field)?

I'm using GarageBand 10.0.1. Do the built-in drum tracks only come in mono format, or is it possible to make them true stereo (i.e. Left and Right channels putting out different signals, to sound like the kit has been panned across the stereo field)?

All the Drum Kits available for GarageBand are mixed in stereo.
Logic provides the same 18 Drum Kits also as "Producer Kits", which are multi-track outputs,. Each Drum Kit Piece (Kick, Snare, HH, etc) and also room mice and overheads are routed to individual channel strips.
Here is a screenshot of one Drum Kit in Logic Pro X with individual Channels Strips. Each Channel Strip can be loaded with individual effects (compressor) and adduced with individual sends, etc.
What that means is that all the Drummers are professionally recorded and sampled with individual mics. The Stereo Drums Kits are just "stereo mix-downs" for easier handling and less CPU demand. I explain all the details about the Drummer ecosystem in my graphically enhanced manual "GarageBand X - How it Works"
    Hope that helps

  • Video with 5.1 surround sound only shows up as center left and right in FCPX?

When I import a video that already has 5.1 surround sound, the clip will show up in only center left and right, according to the audio meters.  Other files with surround sound will sometimes play in only the center and left channel.  I know the file has 5.1 surround sound because it plays fine through my home theater and it shows there's 6 channels in video information....It just doesn't play right in Final Cut.

Make sure your Project Audio and Render Properties/Audio Channels are set for Surround:
You then need to define your audio stems in the Inspector based on channel, like this:

  • Sound - Left and Right Channels?

Alrighty, there's probably an easy way to do this, but I need help.
I have a video in which the sound was only imported in the left audio channel. I would like the audio to be played through both the left and right, rather than just the left. Even if it's just mono sound, I want to be able to hear it from both speakers.
    Any help?
    Thanks
    Ziggy

Put the audio in the timeline, select the tracks or the clips, and press Control-period for pan center.
