  • Cannot download or open pdf or wrd files online

My adobe reader XI does not open pdf or wrd files online.  Neither can I download another version of Adobe.  I have reset my computer to a previous date, but evidently it cannot go back further than my problem.  I believe this trouble began when I accepted a new version of Yahoo, but I didn't have the requirements to run it, so they said.  Thus when deleted I believe it took off whatever runs my downloads.  I think I had Adobe Acrobat too, but its gone now.  Cannot download that either.  What can I do to fix this problem?

    Hi Karen,
    Try using this cleaner:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    Then reinstall: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Let us know if this helps!
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
    Kind regards, Stacy

  • Cannot download an Apple pdf document.

I have been trying to download an Apple pdf document (about HDV capture) but my screen goes dead when I try. I used another computer and tried there and got a page that my "server" does not have permission. What's going on? How do I get "permission." And I don't have a server, I have only stand-alone computers.

Well, that's the link, only I just now tried it again and this time it downloaded the document. So the problem is solved but I don't know why it was there in the first place. Thanks for the response.

  • For some reason I cannot download and view PDFs from a website, It works in chrome, but not Firefox, please help.

When attempting to download a PDF, (detailed bill description) the download appears in the OS X download folder. When attempting to click on that file, a warning comes up that the file is empty.
When I switch browsers and navigate to the same page, (Chrome), the document downloads and I'm able to view the document.
I updated the browser to version 33.1, but that didn't help.

Do you have parental controls enabled on your computer or have other security software that might interfere?

  • I have just upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now I cannot open or save PDF files from the internet. I get a dialogue box saying the QuickTime plugin has failed. I have tried to download the latest plugin but this doesn't work. Can anyone help?

I have just upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now I cannot open or save PDF files from the internet using either Safari or Firefox. I get a dialogue box saying the QuickTime plugin has failed. Can anyone help?

Is this what you downloaded: iTunes 10.7?
When the update fails what if any error report do you get, specifically? Please do this before trying again:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

When you say that you have the same problem, do you mean that you are:
    1. Not able to download Adobe Reader;
    2. cannot view a PDF file;
    3. or what?
Please be a little more descriptive of your particular problem or, better yet, start your own thread and clearly indicate which problem(s) you're having and what you have done, thus far, to correct the problem(s).

    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
If a Finder window opens with that item selected, delete it, then quit and relaunch Safari. Otherwise post again.

  • The recipient cannot download the PDF?

I sent a PDF document and they cannot download the link to open the PDF document.

You aren't the only one having this problem. Presumably there was something wrong with the update that Facebook hasn't corrected yet.
    Try accessing Facebook through Safari.

    Hi,
Which web browser are you using to view the PDF? Safari 5.1.8
When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader add-in you will either see a floating toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317859/430-90/floating +toolbar.JPG
    or a normal toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317860/450-11/normalto olbar.JPG
both the toolbars have save button, use the button to save the file locally. I do not see these toolbars. I do, however see this
    and it works! Thanks
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
