Cannot download books to EReader

I have a Sony Ereader and I tried to download a book from my local library and it tells me that the Ebook cannot be previewed because the license has expired. I loaded books one day and the next day this pops up. What do I do? I have loads of books on "hold" and they will be coming through soon and I don't know how to fix this. Help! Thanks, Emily

I just spent money on a cover and light for my e-reader and it seems I can no longer use it. Sony or Kobo have done an update to the software so I can not longer download books from the library. All of the books say "this devise does not support this format". This is for an epub or a pdf which it supported last week!!
When I try to download a book the download button dissapears and that note come up in its place. I have tried a soft and hard reboot.. nothing!! Why sell me a reader and cover then discontinue the ability to read using it? I have an PRS T2

I Cannot download books from the library. The error message says "cannot connect to the fulfillment server. Please check your internet connection and try again". I have tried again. You also need to update your Flash installation since the one you have at the moment exposes your system to attack. It's a similar story for Adobe Reader.

Test to see if you can download a free application from the App Store. If this was successful, test downloading the book again. Try closing all open applications and power cycling the device, test the results. Make sure you have an active Internet connection. If these results were unsuccessful, see the steps in the article below that refer to iOS.
Isolate the issue: (Mac OS X, Windows, iOS)
Make sure the issue is with the iTunes Store only. (You need an Internet connection to access the iTunes Store).Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for the iTunes Store. This also tests if the main ports 80 and 443 are accessible. If the website works but the iTunes Store does not, it is most likely a firewall blocking the iTunes software or servers. If this is the case, follow the steps in the "Blocked by software firewall" section below.
Test using another device.If possible, another device, ideally on a different network, would help troubleshooting any iTunes Store issues most efficiently. If another device on another network has issues, the iTunes Store may be undergoing maintenance, and will be available soon.

Connect your computer or device to another network and testing helps determine the next step. This is also helpful if multiple devices are affected.
If your device can connect to Wi-Fi and a cellular network, larger downloads may not be possible over the cellular network.

It is critical that your date, time, and time zone be correct:Windows:
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
Click "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" and then click Date and Time.
Click the Date & Time tab.
Make sure that the date and time settings are configured to use the current date and time and then click OK.

Remove any restrictions that may be causing the issue:
Windows:

You can also check using iTunes Diagnostics if you are recognized as an administrator by iTunes.
Mac OS X:
It is recommended you use iTunes from an administrator account. To become an administrator account, from the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
In System Preferences, click Accounts.
You may need to unlock the lock in the bottom-left corner of the window to make changes. If you can unlock the lock, you are already an admin user.
Under the account you are using, it may say "Standard." Enable the option to "Allow user to administer this computer" to make the user an admin account user.
From the Apple () menu, choose Log Out.
Log back in and return to using iTunes. Test to see if the issue is resolved.
iOS: Restrictions can limit your ability to purchase some content. Check restrictions via Settings> General > Restrictions if you're unsure about those settings.

If you have iOS 4.2.1 or later on the iPod and there was version compatible with that version, then you should be able to get a compatible version by:
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

Cannot download books

I have had my Sony Readers PRS-505 for some time and have downloaded books without any problem in the past. However, now I can’t. I don’t get any error message that I can see (although something flashes up too quickly to read it), the book just doesn’t appear on my PC.
A couple of times I have re-authorised my computer and then been able to download a sample book from the Adobe website, but then cannot do it again.
The sites I am buying from are ones I have used before and I haven't changed my PC. I have run a virus check and checked blocked programs in my anti-spyware software, and now I am stumped.
Does anyone out there have any bright ideas?

Cannot download books from library to Ipad any more.

I've been having no problem downloading library books on my Ipad until last night. Got the response Adobe cannot connect to server. Tried my Sony Ereader and it downloaded fine. Finally I uninstalled Overdrive, reinstalled it, authorized Adobe, only to be told I had too many accounts assigned. Deleted one from my husband's tablet, tried again, would not let me. Got a NEW Adobe account/password, and it still won't let me in. Now it says that account is in use????? I just created it, so how could it be "in use?" HELP!

It appears to be Adobe Reader. I set this up years ago and I've never had a problem till last night. It said it could not connect to the Adobe server. Correction: After researching this, I'm thinking now it is Adobe Digital. Obviously I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It would be nice if I could just find a darn phone number to contact someone in person, but I guess that is old fashioned and out of vogue.

Cannot open book on ereader ALTHOUGH PRESENT IN THE LIBRARY ON THE EBOOK.

Bought a new ereader and authorised it correctly with ADE. seems to download a book to the ereader library until i try to open it then it says 'no file found'. In 'annotations' on the reader it also comes up with that message. The books are there in the library on the ereader though!

Gutenberg books will usually be fine, no DRM. (aside ... Calibre (free) is much better software than ADE for handling non DRM books)
One more thing to try:
use file manager to copy a DRM book from the computer to the ereader
then try to read the file from the ereader memory in ADE
then unplug and try to read the file on the ereader.
If the file manager copy doesn't work, maybe there is something odd in the ereader registration?
Try to deregister (ctrl-shift-D to ADE with ereader plugged in, cmd-shift-E on Mac) and reregister the ereader (menu/Help/Authorize device).
If that fails too, I'm not sure what to suggest.
If the file manager copy does work, looks like something wrong in the ADE DRM file copy mechanism.
In that case, it may be worth trying with the older more reliable ADE1.7.2

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Cannot download book. ..the system is already connected with an other apple id. ???

My Mac is used from me and my wife with two different users on the System.
Wa are also use iPhone and iPad.
My wife purchased a ebook with the iPad in the apple store. Now she would like to read the book on the mac.
But when she would download the book she got the messages, that the system is already connected with an other apple id.
How can we fix this? And why connected with an other apple Id?

Each device can only be authorized for one Apple ID at a time, and the authorization can only be changed once every 90 days.

Cannot download book from ibooks store on iphone

I appear to be having a problem downloading any book within ibooks on my iphone 3g running ios4.
In one case, I have already purchased the book from my ipad and trying to redownload the book on my iphone I continue to get an message
"Sign in required, tap continue to sign in to continue synching your bookmarks with other devices"
I enter my credentials but the popup continues to appear over and over again at which point I instead hit cancel.
The book now appears to have fully downloaded but it stays 'stuck' with the progress bar filled but I do not have the ability to open the book and the progress indicator continues to spin.
This happens for both 'paid' books and 'free' books.
I tried to download the book again this time with the 'sync bookmarks' feature disabled within system preferences and the same problem happens. The book downloads with a full progress bar, but it never saves.
I tried:
- disabled sync feature
- rebooting phone
- deleting and re-installing iBooks

Cannot download books from sample library

Hello,
I've just installed Adobe Digital Editions for my computer and connected it to my Sony Reader.
Adobe Digital Editions took me to the sample library website where there is a list of books, when I click to download a book I get some prompts asking if I'm sure I want to open digital edition etc, I accept all. Digital Edition gets started if it's not running, but it does not add the book to it.
Edit: further testing shows that some books can be downloaded while others can't.
e.g. The Geography of Bliss works, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes doesn't, it redirects me to a file name URLLink.acsm which wants to open with Digital Edition, but doesn't do anything. The contents of the file are some xml with resources and tokens.
What am I not doing right? How can I download all books?

Got the same problem. Can't download some eBooks. Importantly can't open books from British Library - the only reason I've installed the program.
Also it keeps crashing when closed which may be related.

Can you access that URL when you paste it into your browser? You don't need to configure system global settings unless you want to go to PI's navigator automatically - you can always copy & paste the link after opening the wsnavigator in PI yourself as well. If you can access the link, kindly check your network & proxy setup.

I got round the situation by making a second user on my computer. That user synched my new shuffle, the first user synched my iPod.
Then my external drive, on which all my iTunes were stored, failed. Then my computer started dying, then my printer died, and now I have a new Mac. I can't get that online because my ISP forgot to send me a router when they said they would.
So now I have 3000 songs on my iPod and will have to get them off it and onto my new Mac iTunes when I get online, next week.

Sony needs to address Sony eReader users. I cannot use Kobo to download books to my readers.

What was the point of transferring my Sony Store bought books to Kobo if the Kobo Desktop app won't allow book downloads to my readers? I spent considerable time on the phone with Kobo customer care and tehy determined I need to use PC for Reader (sony) to download my Sony bought ebooks. Yet, I can't find a link to PC for Reader that works. SIte under construction?
Kobo suggested I use adobe digital edition to download books. ADE shows me an empty library. How can Sony ignore it's customers?
