Cannot download Desktop Software for my BB Bold 9780 (while for older versions I can).

Dear respected community members, I have and still love my old BB Bold 9780, but alas do not have a desktop software for it, while for an older one the Curve 8520, I could completely download. Anyone of the respected community members, provide me with a way out ? So that I may download a desktop software manager for my BB BOLD 9780. Thank you very much indeed. Harro

Hi All - I have tried to use the Feedback option for the Web Admin but my emails keep bouncing because the RIM system seems to think my feedback does not fit via email. Interesting...well, I am downloading it right now with no 404, which would I think rule out a problem at the RIM webisite end. So, the only thing I can think of is that there is something in your internet routing that is somehow blocking it. Maybe you should start over from this point:

I was also going to comment that RIM does not yet support Desktop Software 7.x, but that seems to have changed sometime today!

Download desktop software before buying phone?

I'm an iPhone user but am getting ready to buy my first BlackBerry...possibly the Storm when it comes out, or some other model if Storm is crazily expensive. My question is that if I download the Desktop Software 4.3 now, can I begin to input/import contact info and other data on my desktop, then when I actually have the phone I could just synch all this very quickly? My contact info and other date will come from various sources so this process could get complicated and messy. Does this make sense, or it it even possible? I'm an independent consultant so this BlackBerry will be for personal use....no corporate network involvement. I'm using a Compaq Presario desktop running Vista Home Premium.

The Desktop Software doesn't actually store any of the information. You can use if you backup the device data, but that file is saved on your computer. Just think of it as a conduit through which information can be exchange between your email client and your BlackBerry .

You can use the Switch Device Wizard to import data from a Palm onto a BlackBerry, but both device have to be connected to the computer: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05459

Try running the software CD first then take the CD out and reboot your computer
after reinsert the CD and restart installing again

'Error 1327 Invalid Drive *:\' (when installing Palm Desktop)
This error can appear when you are attempting to install Palm
Desktop. It occurs when the bootable or system drive on your Windows PC
is not set to the default C:
What to do
You can use the "subst" DOS command to substitute the drive letter C: for the actual system drive.
Determine the drive letter of your system drive. If you did not set
up your computer yourself, you may need to contact your IT department or
a PC expert for help.
Close all running application on your PC, including the Palm Desktop installation wizard.
From the Windows Start menu, select Run.
Type cmd and click OK. Note: if you are using Windows Legacy Versions, type command instead.
The command window appears. Type subst c: {system drive letter}:\ where {system drive letter}
is the drive letter of the bootable or system drive on your Windows PC.
For example, if your system drive is J:, the command would look like subst c: j:\
Hit Enter.
Close the command window.
Install the Palm Desktop software. It should work now.
The other option you can try is a USB Flash Drive reassigned as the missing Drive, with the letter "J".

(1) You should not need to use Windows on your Mac unless you want to do so.
I'm unsure what a "luminex camera" is, but you can probably use your Mac's iPhoto app with it.
Launching iPhoto and search iPhoto > Help for "import" (without the quote marks.)
If you're still having trouble, this article may give you some ideas:

(2) You can only "download Windows" if you have bought it from a download source.
Once you have an usable (downloaded or disk-based) Windows installation, Apple's
Windows on a Mac Support page explains using Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp.

If you only need Firefox 3.6 for just one thing then you may be better off using a portable version of Firefox as it will not impact your Firefox 6.0.2 install. You can install it on hard disk or on a usb flash drive. Firefox 3.6.22 is the current security update as 3.6.16 is old.
