Cannot Download & Install OS 3.1.2 - Any Ideas/Help?
Every time I attempt to download the new OS for my iPod Touch, I can only download it to 264.9mb out of 265mb and then pops up and error box saying my network connection timed out and to check my network (which is just fine and tried it 3 different connection locations) and gave error code -3259. Help? Thank you.
I'm having the same problem, and it's extremely frustrating. I have a relatively fast internet, yet it tells me it'll take 9 hours. Then after about 2 hours of loading (and only 1/5 of the way done), the network times out. This is the fourth time I've tried.
I turned off my firewall etc and it didn't help.

I downloaded the latest iTunes software update and it properly installed. But, I cannot close the update window showing it was completed and the blue completion bar is full but cannot cancel or close it either. Any ideas on how to clear that out and close the window. Tried to quit on both the big window and the software update title in the menu bar. No luck.
Tried that by shutting down via the power button only as the normal shutdown was nixed by the open window issue. It did not help. Found a very similar question in the discussions and it recommended "Force Quit". That worked and the update works normal and the window is gone. Thanks!

While installing XQuatrz-2.7.7, the installation blocks at the "destination" level. It asks how to install this soft, "Install for all users" is shadowed, but frozen: i cannot select anything and move on. Any idea how to get that fixed?

My wife and I have both synced our iphones to the same desktop computer. She recently synced her ipad to the same computer. Now we cannot send messages to each other anymore. any ideas?
By signing up for an apple ID it means she will be able to download her own apps and music and in future redownload if required for free. Ideally it should be the primary email address she uses as you can't transfer purchases etc to another ID.
Photos shouldn't disappear but back them up before hand. These days everyone gets an iCloud.com address so she could use this as her ID. You would need to go to www.apple.com/iCloud from a computer to sign up for this. Bearing in mind you need a mac with lion or mountain lion or a pc with windows vista onward to take advantage of all services like calendar sync and find my iPhone etc.
Otherwise sign up for an apple id with any other email address. You can do this at https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
AND Click on create an apple ID.
the applications linked to your existing apple ID will have to be redownloaded on the other ID but you won't lose them on yours. -
I bought my iMac in the fall of 2008; I am running 10.6.8. Can't get Maverick to download--just spins and stops. Any ideas? Do I need a special app when I go to the App Store?
Nothing special. You must havethe app store app installed in 10.6.8. Find Mavericks in the app store. Downloadit. It will take a while (5.31GB) and install thi installer ion your applications folder. Then you can proceed at your leisure.
Check hard disk space, permissions, apple-ID, retry.

I can no longer back up my iphone to my computer on selecting 'sync'. I can back up to iCloud but I get an error message telling me I cannot backup to my Mac. Can any one help? It's driving me crazy!

Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure that your time zone is set up correctly.

I updated my 4s to ios7 and the phone is now completly dead. I tried to restore it with the new itunes but it won't restore. If you can't get the download be glad! Anyone have any ideas other than going out and buying a new Samsung phone? I don't really need a paper weight.
No not jailbroken. After the update which took about 45 minutes. The phone went black. Dead. Wouldn't restart. Using the new itunes I tried to restore it. It went through the motions; the white Apple and progress bar appeared on the iphone screen. Then I got a message "Itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used with itunes." Then the phone went completly dead again. I Repeated the process and got the same results. Is there another way to restore the phone if it's dead, besides itunes?

Assuming you have windows, try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes. You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful. Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.
