Cannot download iOS5 firmware, saying software corrputed at 100% download

upon finishing download, itunes says "the software for the iPhone(iPhone) was corrupted during download, the software for the iPhone was corrupted during download"
same for my ipad.
and this happened like 6 times since i always try to re-download the firmware.
some one help?
btw, i just uninstalled and reinstalled all the apple product on my win7 yesterday, so it shouldnt be the itunes's problem. And I dont really have a firewall blocking the download.

im having the same problem. i talked to a friend of mine who is basically a genuis and he said it probably is Apple's server...that so many people are updating and its causing this. i havent found a true answer yet, i tried to call apple support, but that was hopeless. i thought maybe restoring my phone or something, but i dont want to do that and then realize that if i waited til tomorrow or so that i didnt have to. but im stuck just like you guys!

Assuming you've done a system wide search for it including the Applications folder and it's not there......
I think you will need to address this with them - did you pay them for the application? Or was your purchase price to include it? And the question(s) to ask them:
If the app store states that it has been downloaded, ask them where it is and which Apple ID they used. (the store keeps track of Apple IDs and machine IDs on everything you download).
I have absolutely no faith in their advice; however, in this case, it's not so much technical advice, but an answer to your questions: you paid for something and it appears not to be there.

New iPad . Cannot load ios5.0 says network connection timed out.trying to sync with a pc

Just got a new IPad2. First time Apple user. Need to upgrade to ios5 but get an error message saying network timed out. Tried removing firewalls on my pc and disconnecting my anti virus. Did not help. Any suggestions?

Download iOS 5.0.1! apple servers will not allow you to install iOS 5 as there is already a later version available.
If your itunes is acting up, download the iOS from another site then hold shift button and click RESTORE button in iTunes and select the iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file you just downloaded and voila!!

Okay ... that rules out one possible treatment. Sometimes people with the redistributable installed can get past this by applying a security update for it ... but it looks like the same sorts of problems are preventing it from installing.
(2) And last time I checked my History I had several failures I believe, however now I only see one failed update, that being Update for Windows (KB944036). The error code listed 8000FFFF. Apparently it's an update for Internet Explorer 8.
The other primary strategy we (I?) have for dealing with these is to attempt to treat any underlying issues on the PC that prevent Windows Updates from installing. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that your 8000FFFF is related to your IE being uninstalled, I think we'd probably better try following up on the following document:

The update (whether of iTunes 8.2, Security Update 2009-002, or QuickTime) appears to be downloading completely but then I get a red exclamation mark, an "unspecified error" message, and a failure to install. Yes it could. Delete any files like that. They could be old preference files from software you don't use anymore. Delete them and restart your Mac.
Don't see the Genius Bar just yet.
Check the hard disk for errors. I know you said you did this but make sure just in case.
Insert the installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
If the hard disk appears to be ok... see if you can download and install the 10.4.11 combo update which contains fixes for 10.5.1 up to 10.4.11 available here.

I am able to access the app store, browse and send/receive mail. so my internet connection is fine. Also my ipad works just fine over the same network.

You need to connect your iPad to your computer and update the software in iTunes. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and your iPad should be recognized when connected and it should let you know there is a newer version of iOS available for download. Going to iOS 5.0.1 is a lengthy process. Make sure you have turned off any Firewall/Anti-Virus software before starting the process.
