Cannot download OS X LION?

I have a MacBook, it meets all requirements for installing OS X Lion, I have 10.6.8 currently installe and the latested I-Tunes (5.0), I have searched every where, and the option to down load OS X Lion does not appear anywhere. I have gone to Apple's front page, tried throught the I-Tunes program, tried the "check for updates" - everything is up to date, disabled all antivirus, cookies, etc. Read countless help pages... This is crazy as I have 4 Apple devices. I also have a Mac Pro1, running same version of OS X & I tunes, same problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I just bought a MacBook Pro with Lion preinstalled. I was so excited thinking I can take it anywhere and do work whereever I go. I'm a graphic designer and I use Adobe CS5 designer package. Now I'm debating whether to return MBP because CS5 is not compatible with Lion. Lion doesn't have Java so the programs don't run. I can install a java script but I read that there are still issues with the programs quitting unexpectedly and things missing. I also noticed that I don't have Adobe Updater. I was hoping there would be a fix by now but I know the only fix is going to be Adobe coming out with CS6 compatible with Lion...so i will have to dish out more money.
I have an iMac and I haven't installed Lion yet because I hear it runs slower. I need to be able to do work so I can't risk having my iMac fail on me. I feel like this is another update like when OSX first came out nothing was compatible no print drivers, no programs it took a while for people to update from Classic 9 to OS X. I hate when Apple does such drastic update, they should wait and make sure everyone is on board like Adobe and HP so that it runs smoother and it's and easier change. This way it's just frustrating. Now my MacBookPro is just sitting in the box because I currently have no use for it but surfing the internet. What a mess!

  • I cannot download the newest lion version...........

I have a Mac Book pro and cannot download mountain lion.........

Apple has tightened its requirements for this OS upgrade, and some older Macs— even ones that qualified for Lion — won't make the cut for Mountain Lion.
The general system requirements are straightforward:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
Apple also lists which models WILL support Mountain Lion:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Hope this helps

  • App Store - Error 13 - Cannot download/install Mountain Lion

    Hello,
I tried to upgrade to Mountain Lion via the App Store on my early 2011 MacBook Pro running Lion OS X. Whenever I try to purchase Mountain Lion I am greeted with an error 13 message. I have followed the various other forums suggesting I delete file ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist in the App Store cookies however this fails to work.
I have also tried the following:
Per post above, enable debug menu via
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    Sign out
Clear cookies AND reset the app, using debug menu
    Select Menu->Store->Check for unfinished downloads
Wait for the downloads to finish and then
    restart the app store app.
But it failed to work! :(
Thanks in advance for any help as at the moment I am unable to install Mountain Lion and it's rather annoying!
    BL.

  • HT2404 how come i cannot download os x lion?

Im trying to upgrade to os x lion but its not showing up in the mac store. where can i download it?

You can call 1 800-MY-APPLE and order it. They will then email you a redemption code that you can redeem in the App store. The price is the regular 29.99 which is a bit cheaper than the USB installer.

  • I have redeemed my code and downloaded the Mountain Lion overnight. Now I am unable to find the download and unable to install it. And the code says that its already redeemed. What can I do? Please help.

I have redeemed my code to download the Mountain Lion. I left it for download overnight. Now I am unable to find the download and its not installed. And the code says that its already redeemed so I cannot download the Mountain Lion again. Please help.

    Look in your Applications folder.

  • Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, everything works fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN.

Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, connection speed is fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN. My current location is Shanghai, China. OSX Mountain was installed this morning and everything worked fine until then. Is Express VPN not supported? What do i need to do in order to get it working again on my Macbook Pro (early 2011). I want to be able to go on websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, ect...

    Hi,
I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal.  I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved.  Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:
Please follow the instructions here: https://www.expressvpn.org/support/setting_dns_servers_mac_os
(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
    1. Click on Applications
    2. Click on Utilities
    3. Click on Terminal
    4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
    5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

I have paid for it and all...

    You can't do anything. See:
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
Your computer does not meet the requirements to run Mountain Lion.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • I Purchased Mountain Lion via app store - now I cannot download it.

I purchased a license for OS X Mountain Lion via the App Store and now I cannot download it.
Clicking on the download button did nothing.
Check for unfinished downloads says all downloads are complete.
There is no installer file named "Install Mac OS X Mountain Lion.app" anywhere on my system.
Now "OS X Mountain Lion" is listed under a seperate catagory "Other Purchases" and the button
is solid grey with no "DOWNLOAD" text.
I paid for a copy of OS X Mountain Lion but I recieved nothing in exchange for my payment.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Then you will need to contact Mac App Store (MAS) support and clear up the issue before you will be able to download the Mt Lion installer.

When i installed the mountain lion it said that the hd disk is broken and cannot be repaired, and the other disk doesnt have enough space! HELP and i cannot return to my desktop with the old sofware so i cant use my computer normaly

This error means that your hard drive is badly corrupt and cannot be repaired by Disk Utility. Since you say you don't have backups, this is very bad news. You may already have lost data irrevocably.
First order of business needs to be backing up whatever you can, but this may be difficult to do if the machine won't start up any more. See step 1 of the following post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21614450#21614450
Once you have backed up your data, you can address the other issues.

  • Mountain Lion - Cannot download additional components???

My MacPRO (2008) was running like clock work, but recently a gremlin has appeared. I have been on this forum before and so far all information has been really useful. The mac would start up and shutdown in one motion. I didn't even have enough time to bypass or boot from an alternate drive so it was off to the mac centre to find the cause. Weirdly enough they found nothing wrong and it was good to go. I decided this might be an opportunity to rebuild from scratch and so my 4 drives I zeroed the data and tried to reload Mac OSX 10.8. It starts all well and good before stopping after a few minutes and flagging a problem "cannot download additional components". What is causing this and how do i get around the problem. I would take it back to service centre but have lost confidence in there competency since everytime I take it there it comes out worse than it went in.

Did you get to the point where you have downloaded the entire package from AppStore?
Save the ESD package and prepare an install disk and do a clean install.
Usually - there was one person recently here but cannot find buried in a thread, they had 10.8.2 and the installer is 10.8.3.
    What are you running now?
As for the original problem, for which no problem was found... are you using an SSD to boot the system?
How to do clean install of Mountain is same as was for Lion, with how to clone a system.
Make sure you have 8GB flash drive, or even a small (16-32GB) partition (yes, you can setup an installer to run from hard disk drives to do a clean install to another drive or partition).

Worse case and probably the easiest is to reload a clean OS
