Cannot download os x mavericks, it says it cannot be installed on this computer.  how do i install it ? what is the problem ?

it shows up in my purchases but oes not say purchased, it says downlload, and when i click to doanlowad it says it cannot be installed on this cppmuter.  i am confused because this is a brand new computer and do not understand what is the problem

The version of Mavericks that is on the App Store is not capable of booting your new Mac. You have newer hardware that requires a special version of Mavericks. If you use the Recovery HD, you can reinstall and it will use the correct OS build for that Mac.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install a 64-bit Windows 7 or Vista version in your Mac. Make sure you downloaded these drivers > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630 Also, if you have the Snow Leopard DVD you used to upgrade your Mac or the OS X DVD that came with your Mac, you can use it to install the Boot Camp drivers

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • I have installed firefox 3.2.64. When i click on the desktop icon nothing happens. The windows task manager says mozilla firefox is running but I can't see it anywhere. What might the problem be?

    Question
I have installed firefox 3.2.64. When i click on the desktop icon nothing happens. The windows task manager says mozilla firefox is running but I can't see it anywhere. What might the problem be?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • This version of Mac OS X 10.7 cannot be installed on this computer. Why Not. Mac Mini has the required spec.

    Hi...
I hope that you can help me!!
I am trying to update a recently purchased pre-owned Mac Mini to OSX Lion. ATM it is running OSX 10.6.8, with 2GHz Core 2 duo processor, and 2GB of DDR2 SD RAM. There is 30+ GB of hard drive available. The App Store has acknowledged the fact that I have previously bought OSX Lion, but when I try to download, it displays the following, "This version of Mac OS X 10.7 cannot be installed on this computer." It meets the required specs. Help!! How can I upgrade....

What model is it? There are some early Intel minis around that have had CPU upgrades. They can't run Lion, at least not without hacking.

  • TS1398 I cannot download any games. It says it cannot to the iTunes store.

I have downloaded games before but now it says that the device cannot connect to the iTunes store. However, I am able to open the iTunes store, so I really don't understand why it's not connecting. I have also tried turning the WIFI off then back on and nothing.

You can look here for help.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
I'm not sure how useful this link really is frankly, because I've never had a response that any of the steps worked for anybody in the past. It is really basic stuff, restart your device, reboot your router, make sure that you are connected to the internet ...
I get the message every once in a great while and it always goes away and I can ultimately connect. Aside from the basic things that the link covers you can try this.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try again.
You can also try to download by using another WiFi hotspot/network to confirm that the problem might be with the way iTunes is trying to connect to your home network.

  • Updated to OS X 10.9.2 and now says iPhoto not compatible and all photos from My Mac have disappeared.  What's the problem and how do I get them back?

Just updated to OSX 10.9.2 at invitation of Apple, but find I now have no access to iphoto and all prior photos in my Mac are gone.  It says iphoto isn't compatible with this version.  All other prior documents, podcasts, music etc is intact.  Where are the photos?

iPhoto versions older than 9.5 are incompatible with Mavericks. Version 9 or later should be eligible for a free upgrade to the current version in the App Store. Versions older than 9 will need a paid upgrade.

  • TS3116 I download a movie and while watching it freezes or pauses.  I have apple tv first generation.  What is the problem?  I can watch trailers just fine.

I am having problems with my First Generation Apple TV.  My software is up-to-date. 3.0.2.
I download a movie and while watching in pauses and freezes for as long as a minute sometimes.  I have already checked with my ISP regarding network issues.  There are none.  I can view trailers with no freeze or pause issues.  Just the actual movie when I download.  Is there something I am missing here?

You must have a slower connection if it took 2.5 hours, did you pause it or exit out to the main screen? I've paused movies many times and it resumes..it could be due to the connection as well  so what is your actual speed? Check www.speedtest.net Wifi or ethernet? Have you changed the DNS settings?

  • MAC OS 10.5.2 Cannot Be Installed on this Computer-Help!

My Hard Drive recently failed. I was able to use Disk Warrior to recover my files and I am now ready to re-install MAC OS X using the installation disc that came with my MacBook.
I inserted Install disc 1 and the Mac OS X Installer began. It asked for me to select a preferred language so I chose English. Immediately following that screen I received a dialog box that said "Mac OS X Cannot Be Installed on this Computer".
I used to Disc Utility in the MAC OS X Installer to verify that the new hard drive. It passed. I made sure that the hard drive was set for MAC OS Extended (Journaled). And after a little online searching I even learned how to partition the drive for GUID Partition Table to support an Intel - Base Processor system.
I have restarted the system several times from the MAC OS X Installer menu but I get the same message every time. "Mac OS X Cannot Be Installed on this Computer".
Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz Processor, 2GB of Memory, New 250GB Hard Drive
Any ideas why I cannot perform this install?

I had this happen to me a few months ago. I went into the Apple store and the guy told me that he's seen this many times. Apparently the Leopard discs get tiny scratches (that are invisible to me) and won't do a fresh install, only an install over another OS. So it wouldn't work for me or you because we're trying to install Leopard onto a blank HDD. He ended up hooking up his version of the install disc via firewire external drive and it installed fine. I was not happy with this solution. Sorry to hear about this, hopefully you can figure it out, but you might just have to go to the Apple store like I did.

  • Leopard won't install on Core Duo - "Cannot be installed on this computer"

    Hi,
I have a white MacBook 2GHz Intel and took from a friends black Macbook 2.2GHz Leopard DVD's to install since he will use a mac for Vista. When I try to install it I get a message "This software cannot be installed on this computer" !!! I was surfing on the net but this is usualy problem with old mac's but I cannot believe that my NB is not supported ?!?! Can anyone help ? Also, Apple Hardware Test from Leopard DVD's is giving the same message.

No they are not. 10.5 OS/X install disks are universal. They will not mention MacBook on them. You can not use these CD's on another machine for two reasons: first they will not work. second: it was a license violation for them to be given to you.
