Cannot download previous iTunes purchases
I have purchased 172 songs, which I can see on the iTunes Purchased list. However, iTunes on my PC only shows 73 songs have been downloaded. I have tried to re-download these via iCloud, but when trying to do so it is showing the songs have already been downloaded. Looking at my old iPod most of the 'older' purchases are stored on the device. The iPod will not sync with iTunes on my PC. When connecting the iPod I am informed the iPod is synched with a different library. My iPad also has different purchased items. I had to reinstall Windows 7 on my machine, which would appear to be the cause of the problem.

However, if you'll read the KB article I posted a link to you'll see that for the purposes of those services a computer can only be associated with one Apple ID every 90 days. If the OP associates their friend's computer with their Apple ID and downloads purchases from the purchase history the owner of the computer will be locked out from using iTunes Match, automatic downloads or re-downloading any past purchases.
It's not that the friend will be unable to use iTunes at all, but what the OP wants to do will associate their friend's computer to thier Apple ID for 90 days which may cause the friend some inconvinence. -
How can I download previous iTunes purchases onto a new iPod using someone else's computer?

I've brought an ipod shuffle and need to download my itunes purchases but I don't have access to my own computer for another couple weeks. How can I download from itunes? I'm getting a message that the friend's computer I'm using can't use a different apple ID for 90 days - I'll be long gone by then and back with my own computer!!!

Downloading previous iTunes purchases on iPhone
I have iOS 5.0.1 installed on my iPhone, and have set up iCloud.
In the app store I can re-download previous purchases (Updates - Purchased - Not on This iPhone), but I can't do the same in iTunes. Can anyone help?

I want to download my previous purchases from my computer to my IPhone 4. Everytime I plug my phone into my computer it says Apple mobile devices service is not started. How do I fix this?

I find it easiest to download my purchases directly to my iPhone. You don't even need to connect your iPhone to iTunes. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the items, you will not be charged.

I get this message "If you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you cannot autodownload or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days.
If I use my MobileMe login I have no purchases, so I am using my regular Apple ID. I used my MobileMe login when setting up iCloud because it wanted an email address.
Please explain.The same thing happened to me because I had an Apple ID that was not an email address under which I had made all my purchases and a me.com address that I initially used to set up my iCloud account. If you want to get all your purchases from the Cloud, then you need to do a couple of things: first, change the Apple ID that you purchased all your stuff under to be an email address. You can do that yourself by going to the page where you change your Apple ID. I think it's applied.apple.com but if that's not it, just search for "My Apple ID" in the search box on the support page. Sign in with your existing ID -- the one that is not an e-mail address -- and change it to an e-mail address. Be sure to remember this Apple ID. Then create your iCloud account using this Apple ID. You should be able to get all your stuff to download using this account.
The problem with this is now you will NOT have an iCloud account associated with your MobileMe account. If you're OK with that, you're good to go. I think you still have time to manually download all your stuff from MobileMe.
Apple phone support walked me through this, so if my instructions are confusing you can call them and get them to walk you through it too. It's a common problem. -

There are albums i've purchased on iTunes and when i try to download to my macbook or play through apple tv it doesn't give me the option, it just says 'purchased'… I'm logged into my itunes account and all my devices are authorised. Denzilito you can of course download previous iTunes purchases as I have done. Just go to the Store and on the right hand side you will find the purchases tab.

I cannot find a link to authorize my PC (running Windows 7) to download my ITunes purchases.
I cannot seem to find the link to authorize my computer, which is running Windows 7, to download my previous ITunes purchases. The process is supposed to be opening teh Store link and clicking on "Authorize My Computer", but I can't find a link that says Authorize My Computer. Can anybody help me with this?

It osnds like you are unable to find the Store menu bar item to authorize your computer. By default the menu bar is hidden in iTunes. This article outlines how to make it show so you can sign in and authorize the computer:

To turn on iTunes menus in Windows 8 or 7, do one of the following:
Press the Alt key.
This will turn the menus on and off temporarily. This will change back to the default, the iTunes menus being turned off, when you next close iTunes.

To keep the iTunes menus active, change the setting by selecting the Menu icon in the upper-left, and then selecting Show Menu Bar. Alternatively, you can press Control-B.

- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
If you can't log into Settings>iTunes and App stores with your new ID them mean there is a problem. Try restting the password and try to sign in again.

I'd start off your troubleshooting process by deleting and redownloading the songs:
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
As you know how to open the iTunes Media folder, go to this folder and open iTunes. Then, go to Apps in iTunes and drag the IPA file of the app you want to show up to the iTunes window, so it should be added.
If it doesn't work, delete the IPA, empty the Trash and you will be able to download the application.

sj79The policy on lost songs is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download however they are not under any obligation to do so.
