  • Error -42018 Cannot Download Purchased Music from iTunes Store

I cannot download music, it says unknown error -42018 check network connection and try again. I can download videos just fine, but music. This has never done this before. I downloaded music before just fine. I turned off my firewall but no luck. Please help resolve!!!

    Hey everybody,
I also was experiencing the unknown error -42018 when attempting to download purchased music. Additionally, I was stuck in an endless authorization loop when attempting to play previously purchaed music. All this started when I installed the latest iTunes software 7.0.2.
I run windows XP Pro, and unlike the majority of users I actually set it up correctly with a dedicated administrator account, and regular user accounts instead of just running as admin all the time. For me, that was the cause of the problem.
The new version of iTunes software required FULL CONTROL privilages on the iTunes and iPod install directories for all user accounts that were using the program. (Previous versions worked fine, so this is a new thing.) Once I provided those permissions, iTunes worked correctly. Follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040 for information on how to provide FULL CONTROL to every user account.
I hope you all find this helpful in solving your problem.
    Good Luck,
    Bill

  • Cannot Download Purchased Music After iTunes Match Subscription Expired

The other day my iTunes Match subscription expired (making less money and decided to cut out the cost). I expected to not be able to access music I had stored on my computer (which was the only reason I did Match in the first place), but now, even songs I have very recently purchased using my phone are unavailable. I don't typically buy songs while on my computer, preferring instead to just use the iTunes app on my phone to make the purchases on the go. After purchasing them, I did not think they would not actually be downloaded to my phone. Anytime I try to re-download these songs, I receive a pop up notification stating when my iTunes Match subscription expired. Is there a way to get these songs to play on my phone without having to pay for iTunes Match again? I'm pretty unhappy about this because that was not how Match was advertised to function and don't feel we should have to pay a yearly fee just to be able to restore our purchases we made on the actual device.
My phone is a 32 gb 5S running iOS 8.3.

I've been having a problem similar to this. I click download, it charges me for it and then gives me a message saying there was a problem downloading, an unknown error occurred(-50), check the network connection to make sure it is active and try again. No firewall, no web accelator, network working fine for EVERYTHING else. I think this is because the iTunes servers are overloaded. It seems to have started once they put movies, tv shows, video games, etc. on the iTunes store. I would imagine the download time of these new services are much longer and more bandwidth taxing than the music they've been selling. I usually continue to try for the next few days, maybe trying during off hours to avoid the bandwidth traffic jams, and this SEEMS to help. Although, this is all pure speculation, it is what has worked for me. Still makes me consider paying more at Borders just so I CAN own it when I pay for it. Seems if you take my money I should get the product. Kinda sucky.

I have turned off my iPod and urned it back on and still nothing
I have tried clearing space on my iPod even though I have 40 Gb still available
iTunes on my computer have all the songs I have recently purchased and when I try to sync them to my iPod still nothing, im not sure what to do now ?

    You said:
"when I try to sync them to my iPod still nothing"
What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

For first problem try powering off and then back on your router.
Next try when connected to another network.

  • Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Why is this setup now blocked by Apple? Cannot download purchased music.

Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Each of us is using an own individual iPhone, which we frequently update with our iTunes Accounts. We have had this setup for years. It was convenient, reliable and user friendly, since we both could download what we wanted, create playlists, etc. without impact on the other. Exactly this convenience has made me and my wife real Apple fans, so that we also wanted to convince our daughter to move from Android and PC to our easier Apple setup.
Since a few weeks, this setup does not work anymore. From Apple Support (online chat on Apple.at) I was not told that this is not supported any more. Every computer is only allowed to be connected to one iTunes account. From one perspective (sharing music across other users as an act or media piracy, etc.) I can somehow understand this. However, since we are using different user accounts on this computer, I do not have access to other user´s iTunes media and could not play, download or copy it. So what is the point in this?
This now means, that my wife and I are only allowed to download individually purchased music with our personal iTunes accounts only with an interval of 90 days, so every on of us 2 times a year!
Was I incorrectly informed by the Apple support? If so, how can I solve the problem? Or is this really a new policy by Apple? If so, what is the reason? Am I expected to purchase a Mac for my wife, my daughter, myslef and for the three smaller kids to follow soon?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes.

  • ITunes 7 (error -50) Cannot Download Purchased Music...

    Greetings!
I have recently upgraded to iTunes 7 and tried to purchase an album today and recieved error -50 "There was a problem downloading "X", Try again. Please Check Your connection."
I have also purchased music a few days ago with version 7 and had no problems. I do have a "good" connection established, so why can I not download? I tried turning Norton Off, but no difference.
My wife was using iTunes earlier and noticed a pop-up from norton, but did not read it and just clicked allow...so do you think that this might have something to do with this problem? Other than this problem, iTunes 7 works okay, connection to the iTunes Music Store is not an issue.
    Please Help!
    Thanks,
    Jared

    Hello all,
I restarted the computer and all is well. I'm not sure what the problem was...maybe a bug in version 7? After the restart I just went to STORE->CHECK FOR PURCHASES and the new music was downloaded successfully.

  • Cannot download purchases music

I have been having a problem lately (no change in setup), where I get an error when I try to download music from the ITMS.
When I check for purchases, I get the following error:
There was an error downloading your purchased music. The disk could not be read from or written to. <<<</div>
Ignoring the grammer error in the message, I am wondering what I am doing wrong, or if this is a new iTunes 7 issue (I cannot work with version 7, and use version 6 instead. I have no issues with the disk...

hmmmm. is your download location on a network drive, John? If so, by way of experiment, can the download go through if you shift the location to your C drive? <<<</div>
Yes, it is, and good thinking. I have already tried this, and still did not get it to work.
Now, in the meantime, I have an open ticket from Apple Support, and here is their (not) helpful reply:
I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced with this issue. I understand you are receiving the error "The disk could not be read from or written to."
However, the nature of your question falls outside the type of support provided via email by iTunes Store Customer Support. I can only answer non-technical questions about billing, customer accounts, downloading purchases, and iTunes Store content.
If you require more in-depth assistance, you will need to call Apple technical support (there may be a fee associated with the call). <<<<
I think that response takes the cake. "I can't help you, but if you call, maybe someone can, and please have your credit card available?" What sort of support is that for not being able to download music that I purchased. I am begining to rethink the whole matter of buying music from Apple -- alot of hassle, not very good quality sound, and now no support

  • Trouble downloading purchased music into iTunes library

I am trying to download my recently purchased music into my iTunes library, but I am continuously getting a "Error 8003" message telling me to check and make sure the connection to the network is active, even though it clearly is. Any solutions?

    Yes.
It appears in the purchased section of iTunes, but not in the music section.
It does exist in the iTunes folder

I just want to know how to get it to appear with all my other music in the "music" tab

  • I can't download purchased music from iTunes to my PC

All of my music is gone from my PC.  I recently did an iPad backup, and for whatever reason, the music is gone from the PC.
The music is still accessible on my iPad.
In the iTunes store, when I go to Purchased Music and click on the All tab, all of the songs I have purchased are there, but there isn't a cloud download button available for the songs.
How do I get the songs back on my PC?

Bumping for a reply.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Cannot download purchased movie from Itunes

Rented a movie and it shows up in purchases. I cannot download it. I get the same error message non-stop, tap to retry - to no avail. Please help!

Purchasing more storage in iCloud was not necessary. You may need more space locally - on the iPad itself - not in the cloud. But did you receive a message saying that you needed space to download the movie? If you did, then you need to delete content on the iPad to free up space.
Settings>General>Usage>Storage. You can see which apps are taking up the most space and you can see videos and TV shows that are on the iPad. You can delete content in there via the Edit button and download it again later a desired. Most purchased content can be downloaded again for free but there are some limitations and exclusions.

  • Cannot access purchased music in iTunes

    Hello all,
I just purchased an iPhone 5, 32 GB. I restored from a previous iCloud backup which seemed to go well. I noticed that some of my songs would not play. The album art displayed, but the songs would not play and skip to another. I read online that the best solution to this problem is to delete those songs from your device, and re-download them by accessing "Purchased" items through the iTunes app. I did this for several of the non-working songs and it worked great.
I noticed several songs by one band in particular (Depeche Mode) were not playing, so I deleted them all off my device. I then went to "Purchased" items in iTunes to re-download them, but now I see a loading graphic that freezes, and the albums/singles are not displayed. All of the other artists seem to work just fine, but for some reason, none of my previously purchased Depeche Mode songs are displayed.
I have 124 items from that group, and really want them on my new phone. Anyone else have this issue?
I am wondering if a solution to my problem would be to connect my phone to my computer and sync, but I would prefer to not do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    -Daniel

You enable iTunes Match on your iPad by making sure your are signed into the Apple ID you used to subscribe in iTunes Match in Settings>iTunes & App Stores, then turning iTunes Match and Show All Music to On.
Also, iTunes Match doesn't use your iCloud storage plan so you don't need to purchase a storage upgrade to use it.

  • Download purchased music to iTunes

I bought an album on itunes for the first time ever and it was through my phone (iphone 4s). Now I want to listen to it on the computer. But when I go to Library> purschased> and then click on the cloud-download-button it says something (in swedish) like: "could not buy xxxx. Network connection was disconnected due to a timeout. Verify that your networksettings is active and try again later". And sometimes it says "item is temporarily unavailable. Try again later."
Why does this happen? My network is perfectly active so I don't understand why it clames that. I have windows 7 and the lates version of iTunes.

I have recently bought an iPad 4 but am struggling to download music and films that I have purchased in iTunes. • Re-downloading purchased music from itunes

I went to download past purchases and it shows they have already been downloaded on my computer (mac mini) which I am sure they were -- I think my daughter deleted them by mistake.  How do I re-download them through iTunes.  They show up as "downloaded" and I do not see  any obvious way to get them again....

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; only apps, books (not audiobooks), music, and t.v. shows (not movies).  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.
