Cannot download some movies to iPad, download icon is now Watch icon

Hello,
I have an iPad mini, and a family member bought a movie that I wanted to download to my iPad (we have a shared Apple ID in iTunes).  If I go to the iTunes Store app on my ipad -> Purchased -> Movies -> All, I see the movie I want.  The icon that's usually the cloud with an arrow for download is not there, what I do see is an icon that says Watch.  If I click Watch, I am switched into my Videos app, the movie tab, where I see other movies, but not the new one I want to download.
If I go back to the iTunes app and this time go to Purchased -> Movies -> Not on This iPad, I don't see the new movie, but again, Purchased -> Movies -> All shows it.
I've hard and soft reset the iPad, I've logged out and back into iTunes via Settings -> iTunes & App Store, still have the same issue.
I've looked at iTunes Purchased -> Movies -> All for other movies, some have the cloud/arrow download icon, some are Watch.  What causes the icon to be Watch vs Download?  How do I get the Download icon back?  I've also gone into Settings -> General -> Usage -> Movies and it's not listed there.  I thought maybe the download had started and crashed, but it's not there.  Other movies also have the Watch button and they're ones I know I never downloaded, so I don't think that's it.
Anyone else had their Download button replaced by a Watch button, and figured out how to fix that?

Go to "Settings." Select "videos." Then select "show all videos." This way it will show all your purchases, even the ones truly in the cloud that you have not downloaded to your iPad. Then go into your "Videos" Select the movie you want, then instead of seeing a watch icon, it will give you the icon with the download from the cloud sign in the upper right corn. So far so good. It's not really a fix, but a way around, until the issue is dealt with by apple.

    I have same problem. I just bought a couple of movies from iTunes and they do not Sync to my iPad I'm using the same apple ID, I dont get it. its frustrating. other movies I have bought before they sync but the new ones do not.     2. You can only transfer a rental to an Apple TV 1, which Apple TV do you have.

    I don't have an iPad to test this, so I can only refer you to Apple's Podcast Tech Specs page:

    This says that the maximum video size for an iPad is 1024x768 - your latest episode is 1280x720.
    Slightly confusingly, it also says

    which suggests that mp4 files are even more limited.

    However when downloaded this produces a file called 'howtosetupappeid.mp4' so soe sort of redirect appears to be in place, and these can sometimes cause trouble. It's better to link directly to the file - it's possible that the iPad doesn't handle the redirect.
    That's all I can suggest: if it still doesn't cover the problem I can only refer you to the iPad forum where someone may be able to actually try your podcast and offer a comment.

    If the movies show up with a Cloud symbol or if they will not delete when you hit the edit button (or the edit button is not there), go to Settings > Videos > Turn off 'Show All Videos'

  • Some movies on iPad are removed and reloaded with every sync.

    Recently some, only some, of my movies already loaded on my various iDevices are removing themselves, then reloading on every sync.   (Note: "Movies" is a loose term herein, it includes all video forms; Home Video, TV, Movies....)
    In attempts to fix this situation, I have;
    Talked to the local Apple Store Personnel 3x, no one knows what is wrong.
    Talked with Sr. Apple Advisor who did not know what was wrong, he escalated the issue to Apple Engineering on 6/20/14.  (Sr. Advisor has been called back regarding this ticket 3-4x, has only returned my call the first time to advise he is still waiting on Engineering....  Sorry, but this time line is getting really bad without a response from Sr. or Engineering.  What is going on with Customer Care?  Added Frustration.)
    Apple Engineering does not apparently know what to do, as there has been no response in 2 months.
    Giving up on the above 3 bullets, I have;
    Deleted/Re-downloaded offending movies.
    Removed/Reinstalled iTunes App on MacBook.
    Removed iTunes App and all of its' extra "strands" on MacBook, the reinstalled iTunes from Apple.
    Created an external iTunes Media folder, pointed iTunes to that folder, then downloaded movies to that location.
    Searched the web relentlessly to find someone else with reference to this issue.
    All of the above has not corrected the situation.  The movies in question are random, some purchased 1+ years ago, some purchased 1 month ago.  I have to think this is an iTunes issue since this issue is reflected on all of my devices.
    Any advice is appreciated.

    It seems the iPhone before the update was not officially unlocked from the carrier it is locked to. Which would mean it had been unlocked to use on your carriers sim by jailbreaking(hacking) or by using third party hardware.

    Hopefully this is pretty straightforward. I downloaded a movie rental from iTunes store. When I attempted to move to my iPad (via manual sync) I got an error along the lines of the following: 'Cannot transfer movie rental as it is already transferred to another device'. I have rented movies multiple times from the iTunes store and did not encounter this issue. My laptop is authorized (I double checked). Correct me if I am wrong but if the rental appears in the iTunes library then technically it is not transferred.

    I have purchased but never rented movies but from what I have read, your assumption is correct. Once you move the rental to an iDevice it should disappear from iTunes.
    If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV).     Since upgrading to the new OS this morning, I have been unable to load iTunes Store purchased movies to my iPad.  In fact, after I loaded the new system, I lost all of the movies on my iPad.  It did allow the movies that I've ripped from my collection into iTunes to stay on the iPad.  Any suggestions?

    Are the movies still in iTunes on the Mac - if they are sync them again. Make sure that they are selected to sync and that the sync movies heading is selected as well.
    If the movies are in iTunes and you already tried to sync them with no success - Are you using the same Apple ID on the iPad that you are using in iTunes on the Mac and would that be the ID that you bought the movies with?
    If you live in the U.S., many movies can now be downloaded again from iTunes at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to buy the movies. You can download them again in the purchased tab of the iTunes Store on the iPad - tap on the View Movies Button in the upper left corner and your purchased movies will appear. Tap on the cloud icon to download them again.
    You can also download them again in iTunes on the Mac and sync them back to the iPad.

    If you rented it directly on the iPad then it should have downloaded into the Videos app - if you can't find it in there then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?

  • Cannot play some games on ipad since yesterday

    Does anyone encountered similar issue? I have ipad 2 that I play world of the tanks and Ashphalt 8. Since yesterday, I started to encounter similar issues like "cannot connect to server". However, broswer worked fine and some other games like clash of clans etc.
    If I use 3G instead of wireless network on ipad, I am able to play both games. Someone says this might be verizon's DNS issue, but I have tried to change to other DNS, they are not helping.
    Does anyone have any clues? Do some of these games block fios customers, or is there any other thing, like firewall, can cause connectivity issues?

    Is the problem only happening on the ipad, and have you tried fully turning it off and fully turning it back on?  Also have you done the same with the Verizon Router (on/off switch or unplugging it and plugging it back in)
    Also game servers can block individual IP addresses, but would be unusual for it to block entire internet providers.
    That would only be a thought for me, if the games were all hosted by the same company, which I am not aware that they are.   they might be.
