Cannot download songs to ipod from my itunes library

I am new to this! After purchasing my shiny new ipod nano 4 days ago I successfully installed itunes and ipod on my windows XP. I purchased 26 songs and successfully updated ipod. Last night I purchased 10 more songs, updated and attempted to back up the library on a CD. Here is where I really screwed up...I did not disconnect ipod from my computer. I was told I was not authorized to burn a CD. I then went to a program on the computer that was already present (I think it is called realplay) and attempted to transfer my files in to that library and burn a CD with that program. Well, this seemed to occur but still I could not burn a CD. I think this did somthing to my itunes library. Why? Well, the computer completely froze. After about 45 minutes of attempting to restart my computer etc, I shut down the computer completely and then disconnected ipod. I rebooted and the computer was running fine but all of my music was erased from ipod. However, my itunes library seems intact. I attempted to update the ipod again starting over and nothing will transfer to ipod. I did the "R"s and it still not updating.
I thought perhaps the "other" program was blocking the process so I want back and follwed directions to have "realplayer" recognize ipod and transfer songs from there...no go.
I don't know if I have changed the file formats and ipod doesn't recognize them or if everything is corrupted. As you can probably tell I am fairly computer illiterate...all I want to do is work out to my playlist.
Any ideas about what is going on?

  • I have had to reset my laptop to factory settings and reinstall iTunes. Now i cannot drag songs or apps from my itunes to my iPhone. Any ideas?

    Hi All,
I have had to reset my laptop to factory settings and reinstall iTunes. I backed up all my songs and apps and have now put all songs back in to iTunes. However, now i cannot drag songs or apps from my iTunes to my iPhone.
It only gives me the 'no entry' style icon when i drag it across rather than the 'plus' icon to add items to the iPhone.
Any ideas how to get round this or will i have to clear the phone and start again?
Any help would be very appreciated.

    - Try resetting the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next, restore from backup.

  • Cannot transfer songs to iPod from iTunes.

Please help. I can download songs to my iTunes but the iPod will not update when plugged in. It tells me that it has but when I go to my iPod the songs are not there. I have 3 cds that I have recently downloaded that will not upload to my iPod. Everytime I plug my pod into the computer it tells me that it is updating these 3 albums onto the pod but it doesn't. I tried several times and I got the same thing everytime. Looking at my songs on my iPod from my iTunes it shows these albums are there and play from iTunes but when I try searching from the actual iPod they are not. Oh and everything is updated and I have "Automatically update all songs and playlists" button selected in my ipod options!

I have the SAME problem. "Updates successful" message followed by missing songs on the iPod and next update attempting to transfer these songs all over again. Tried everything, including "strange iPod behavior" suggestions to no avail. This has started since the January installation of the new iPod Updater.
    Please help.....

i just want my music on my compuer on my ipod lol

What happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?

  • Downloaded song, shows up in my itunes library but it will not play. What do I do?

I purchased a song on itunes and downloaded it. It shows up in my library but it will not play. It is as if it did not download at all.
What do I do. I do not want to have to purchase it again.

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads with the same problem then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Cannot move songs to iPod from iTunes

Never had a problem before manually managing music on my iPod. I have recently had an issue pop up to where i can no longer drag my music files over to my iPod icon in iTunes to transfer music. iPod shows up and plus icon appears when I drag the files over but no transfer.
Newest version of iTunes, iMac, OSX 10.5, iPod 5G with the most up to date software.

I feel your pain. I have the same issue. I went through the 5 rs, that didn't help. Went to an Apple store, they were able to update songs on a Mac but I have had no luck with windows xp. I watched it run through my entire library and thought it had worked but didn't.
Apple wants me to bring in my pc. Its too big of a hassle. I'm out of patience.

  • HT201272 How can I download audiobooks purchased on audible to my iPod from my iTunes library

Two audiobooks that are still in my itunes library and used to be on my ipod are now removed from my ipod (don't know why). They were purchased from audible and worked on my ipod for years but now I can't download them...again even though they are in my library under 'audiobooks. Suggestions please.

If you bought them directly from audible.com then, as far as I know, you should have been able to redownload them from audible for free.
They show in the Audiobooks part of your Mac's iTunes library, and they play ok on there ?
And when trying to sync them you're doing what I said in my above reply e.g. you've selected them on the iPod's Books (Audiobooks ?) tab and then applied/synced that selection (I don't have an iPod Classic but I assume that they have similar syncing screens as on other device)
Does the 'screen' at the top of iTunes then appear to be showing that they are being synced to your iPod ?
You could try asking in iPod Classic forum, you will probably get better help there.

  • Syncing ipod from existing Itunes library

Hi. I need help. My son has an Ipod and has a library of about 200 songs and videos. I just bought my own Ipod - when I opened Itunes and connected my Ipod, it automatically updated all of his songs on to my Ipod. Is there a way to avoid this from happening. I wanted to create my own library for my Ipod, as we do not like all of the same music. Once the update was complete, all of the songs are listed under my Ipod, but I cannot check or uncheck any of them in Itunes - it will not let me do any editing. I appreciate any help that may be offered.

Use the instructions in this article to transfer different music to each iPod.

  • Can no longer upload songs to ipod from windows itunes

It was working fine on saturday. Sunday I noticed that while the Ipod was connected, the new albums on loaded on it show up under the ipod contents.
But after disconnecting, they items are no longer there.
In additiona, I was getting the following error message
"The file or directory \ipod_control\itunes\Temp Fill\ is corrupt or unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility. "
I ran checkdisk on my desktop, but I think there is something wrong with the Ipod harddrive. What can I do ? Does this mean that I'm screwed ?

Yes I had the same issue about 3 weeks ago after downloading the new version of iTunes on my computer. I have tried every single thing possible and finally I ended up formatting completely my iPod Video and retauring all my music from the computer. I thought for a while that my harddisk was corrupted but everything went fine there after ... good luck. Hope this works.

  • Cannot play songs on iPod Touch within iTunes 8.

I have been doing this for years. I manually manage the music on my iPods. When I come to work, I plug my iPod into my Mac, open iTunes and play music off the iPod. It's always worked fine. Now, I upgraded to iTunes 8. Every time I try to play music off my 32GB iPod Touch, it plays for a few seconds then pauses... then it will play for a few more seconds... then pauses again. Everytime it does this, the iPod says "Synch in Progress". It should not be synching to ANYTHING. When I play the iPod through headphones, it does not do this. It only does it in iTunes. Very annoying! This is clearly a bug in iTunes

That is because you have the iPod set to Automatically Update songs. If you set the iPod to Manually Update, the songs will not be grayed out, and you will be able to move them around, etc.
I hope this helps! Post back if you need more info!

  • More songs on ipod than in iTunes library?

I'm sure this has been answered before but having searched the forum I cannot find an answer.
Is there an easy way of establishing the extra tracks?
    Thanks

I always kept my entire library on my iPod but recently swapped computers. I still don't understand why the iPod should have more tracks though!?!
    Can anyone explain?

  • I got a new iPod nano 7th gen., but when I tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Some of the videos in your iTunes library cannot be copied to your iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod.

I got a new iPod nano 7th gen, but when i tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Soem of the videos in your iTunes library were not copied to yor iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. What should I do?

I kept having a similar problem - 3 out of the 10 videos I had on iTunes wouldn't sync. They were in the right format and I KNEW they worked on my iPod because I'd RECORDED them on my iPod. I finally figured out what to do! Go to the movies in your iTunes library. Click on one that does not sync. Click on "Advanced" at the top of iTunes and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". Once that's finished, be sure you delete the old version so you don't keep getting the error (or have 2 copies of the same video) and sync. This should eliminate the problem. At least it did for me!
