Cannot drag contact to group in iCloud contacts

On my iPad 2, I cannot drag a contact from All Contacts to a group, because I can't see the contact and the list of groups at the same time. Where do I set it so I can see both? Also, how can I unmark a contact as a favorite?

I can't move a contact from one group to another either - anyone know a solution?

    You want Mavericks:
    OS X Mavericks
You might have thought this was forum for laptops (not) that is:

Typing "Contacts" got this thread, and seems like you will want to investigate using iCloud

  • I just downloaded OSX maverick and now I cannot drag addresses from my contacts to the "To" box when sending emails.  How can I go back to old drag groups or addresses to the box?

I just downloaded OSX Maverick and now I cannot drag addresses from my contacts to the "To" box when sending email.  How can I get back to dragging groups or individual contacts to emails?

Starting to type a name and getting a list of matches is good but it's not a substitute for being able to choose twenty or thirty names from your address book and dragging them into the "To" field. Of course many contacts can be put into a group but I may want to send occasional emails to many people who don't fit any group, and there may be no need to create a group just for that email.
If you agree please send an email to apple feedback for Maverick OS X.

  • HT204150 Cannot save contacts with no name in iCloud in Outlook.

I cannot save contacts with no name in iCloud in Outlook.  The error messages are generic.  This is an issue, since most companies do not have a dedicated name to go to.  iCloud was always bad with contacts with no name.  The issue has gotten worse.  Also, this is a defect, since before you could do this, and now you can do this in iPhone and web iCloud.  This is one of many issues introduced by iCloud 3.

I now find these USA type errors are only on the Address Book that comes up on my iMac when I go to iCloud.com    possibly because the iMac does not support iCloud
My iPad and iPhone4 seem to be syncing OK re Contacts on iCloud  EXCEPT I have Duplicates and on my iPad I can see one Group relates to "iPad" while the second or Duplicates relates to " Unified"
Is there any way via my iPad that I can eliminate all Contacts from this "Unified" Group and thereby eeliminate the Duplicates?

  • How do move ALL contacts from other groups into iCloud contacts group

Is there a way to make Icloud contacts the default for the "groups" on my iphone ?
    OR
is there a way to merge ALL the other groups into icloud contacts so i just have the one Icloud group to deal with on the iphone ?
    Thanks !

This page: http://www.macworld.com/article/1054187/outlooktoaddress.html - has this to say:
'Under Outlook 2002 you could simply open your contacts and drag them to the desktop to turn them into vCards. No longer. Try this and the contacts are converted to messages.
While you can select a single Outlook contact, choose File -> Save As and, in the resulting dialog box, choose vCard Files from the Save as Type pop-up menu, this works only for individual contacts—you can’t export a group of contacts this way.
You have a few options for eventually getting the things out of Outlook. The first is to select all your contacts and choose Action -> Forward as vCard. Outlook will create a new email message that contains all your contacts as individual vCard attachments. Send this message to yourself, pick it up on the Mac, drag these files into Address Book or Entourage’s Address Book and you’re good to go.
Or Sperry Software can lend a hand with its $20 vCard Converter Add-in for Microsoft Outlook. This adds a service that enables Outlook to export all your contacts as a single vCard.'
    A Microsoft Help Page suggests:
'The simplest way to do this would be to export your Outlook contacts to a tab-delimited file and then import that into Address Book.
In Outlook select File menu --> Export... and select Contacts to a list (tab-delimited text).
Save the new file to your Desktop.
In Apple's Address Book select File menu --> Import... and select your file.
Use the next window to match the field names in Address Book with those in your export file'
If using either method you import into Address Book you can sync that to iCloud, which is probably easier than trying to import into the iCloud website. If you're prepared to splash out $20 the Sperry Software program would  simplify matters a lot.

  • Have issues with Contact locking up while dragging contact into Group

After creating a new Group in iCloud-Contacts, while dragging and dropping new contacts into the group, the browser locks up each time I try to drag a new contact into the group.
    Browser:  Firefox 10.0.1

I am also having a similar problem with my 13 " macbook pro purchased in Aug 2011. I took the same to
m/s Unicorn Infosolutions Pvt Ltd , Mumbai ( authorised service centre for apple). They first checked it and said that it was a hardware problem and I will have to keep the MBP with them till they get the replacement part from Bangalore and the repair would be free of cost since it was under warranty. So far so good. Then late in the evening , they called me up to inform that there was liquid found inside and the mother board would have to be repaced and the same would cost Rs 64,000/- which is slightly less than the cost of a new mbp.
Unable to understand the formation of liquid since the time they checked up in the morning and their discovery in the late evening.
They probably had a change of heart regarding replacement of the part under warranty.
Apple should take serious action against such firms which indulge in such unscrupulous activities.
Now I am left high and dry since apart from scrapping my new MBP, my data is also lost.
Hope Apple can come out with a solution for this problem and replace/rectify the machine.

  • In address book on my new macbook pro I can't drag contacts to a new message or drag a group to bcc. What do I need to do?

in address book on my new macbook pro I can't drag contacts to a new message or drag a group to bcc like I could on my 2007 macbook pro. What do I need to do?

The issue has nothing to do with your MacBook Pro. You are using a different version of OS X.
If you are using Apple's Mail application, it will search both previous contacts and the address book as you type the send address.

  • Cannot add contacts to any section below Workgroup on Relationships tab

In Lync, when I click over to the "Relationships" tab and can see "Friends and Family," etc., sections, I am able to add contacts from my "Groups" tab no problem to either "Friends and Family" or "Workgroup."
However I cannot add contacts to any of the other sections.  For example, I add a person to "Workgroup" and he shows up; then I drag him onto the "Colleagues" section and he disappears.  The comment "No one's in this access
    level" never goes away.
What is the trick to adding people to the other sections in the "Relationships" tab?

    Hi,
Did the issue happen only for you or for multiple users?
Did the contact exist on Group Tab after dragging the contact from “Workgroup” to “Colleagues”?
You can login Lync client on other computer with your Lync account to have a test. If it works normally, you can delete user profile on your issued local workstation, restart Lync client and test again.
You can also login Lync client on your computer with other well-worked Lync account to have a test.
Please update to the latest version for Lync client as well.

  • I have a new MacBook Pro with OS10.8.2 and cannot get Contacts to print a list of addresses with pictures showing.  There is a check box selecting "picture" which has been checked - but no picture.  This worked fine on OS10.7.5.  Problem??

I have a new MacBook Pro with OS10.8.2 and cannot get Contacts to print a list of addresses with pictures showing.  There is a check box selecting "picture" which has been checked - but no picture.  This worked fine on OS10.7.5.  Problem??

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Active Directory does not exist or cannot be contacted

Hi:  We have a server 2008R2 x64 bit.  The DC is an server 2008sp2.  Single domain.local On trying to install Exchange 2010 we get a series of errors:
    1. AD doesn't exist or cannot be contacted
    2. must be a member of organization Management role or enterprise admins
    3. The credential for machine|Administrator is not on bind
    4. The user is not logged on to a windows domain.
DCDiag >> no errors.  Have read through a lot of posts with these errros but most apply to server 2003 where there were tools used not available in 2008.  Help is greatly appreciated.  Chris

    Hello Chris,
Are you installing Exchange 2010 on the same server that is a domain controller? if this is a different member server, please post the complete ipconfig /all
Make sure the domain controller is a global catalog server
make sure DNS is functioning well dcdiag /test:dns
You donot need to manually add admin to all these groups as exhange 2010 will do this automatically as long as the account you are using is and administrator and a member of the schema/enterprise admins group

  • Problem dragging contacts into numbers

Hello all, and I hope you can help. I'm a relative newbie to the forums (other than lurking occasionally), but quite an experienced Mac user.
I am trying to get contacts into a spreadsheet. I have tried the two methods of (1) dragging individual contacts from Contacts or groups into a table with mapped column names, and (2) dragging contacts or groups onto a blank area of canvas, in Numbers 09. Neither works. Nothing happens.
Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong?
I'm on Mac OS X 10.8.4 with all software up-to-date.
    Thanks in advance,
    Keith

Superb thanks, Wayne. Sorted in one. Obvious (well, in retrospect anyway). Now of course I realise what happens when I installed all those apps that asked me if I wanted to allow them to access Contacts and didn't let them...

  • 2008 r2 RDP SSL NLA problem "Local Security Authority cannot be contacted"

    Hi!
I have run into an issue with RDP settings for 2008 R2 servers (all of them) whenever I enable NLA. That happens on user accounts that do NOT enforce password expiration (and so passwords are not expired) and MSTSC supporting NLA (client computers are win7
    or win8).
In fact those same clients can use NLA just fine for connections to other win7/win8 workstations (domain members) using NLA, no probs!
SSL certificates are automatically issued by enterprise CA. All computers/servers have current and valid Computer certificates.
For some strange reason, I cannot enable NLA on RDP settings for any of 2008 R2 servers (various roles, ranging from physical DC running multiple roles, through dedicated virtual DC or dedicated virtual Print Servers up to dedicated Remote Desktop Services
host), because all of them at once stop accepting RDP connections, always with same error message:
    An authentication error has occurred.
The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted
    Remote computer: server.domain.local
This could be due to an expired password.
Please update your password if it has expired.
For assistance, contact your administrator or technical support.
That same message also appears on DC (2008 R2) running the enterprise CA role ... irony ...
Please keep in mind that domain member computers running windows 7 x64 or windows 8.1 x64 can accept NLA enabled and SSL encrypted RDP traffic at same time without issues while using the same user accounts to connect.
To make it even funnier, I can set RDP on 2008 R2 acting as Remote Desktop Services server to accept only SSL RDP traffic and keep NLA disabled and all works just fine. So, it is strictly the NLA causing trouble here, but why? WS 2008 R2 unable to use Kerberos
    authentication for RDP?
WS 2012 R2 can accept NLA/SSL RDP connections without trouble, just as win7/win8 workstations can, so issue is narrowed down to only 2008 R2 servers (physical or virtual).
Is there a hotfix for this problem on 2008 R2? sounds to me like it is a bug in 2008 r2 regarding Kerberos authentication for RDP... is MS ever planning to fix it or we have to upgrade all servers to 2012R2 to "fix it" ...

In case this is of use to anyone, I traced this issue down to some group policy settings restricting the use of NTLM. If you're connecting to a server from a Windows client within the same domain, this won't be an issue, as Kerberos is used for authentication.
However, when connecting from a machine outside the domain, or from a non Windows client (e.g. Wyse ThinOS terminal as we were), it seems NTLM is used for authentication.
Since we have quite a secure environment setup, the following group policy had been set throughout the domain:
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
Network security: Restrict NTLM: Incoming NTLM traffic - Deny all domain accounts
Network security: Restrict NTLM: NTLM authentication in this domain
    - Deny for domain accounts to domain servers
What was needed was to apply a new policy to the RDS servers being connected to from outside the domain with the following settings and so that the new GPO took precedence over the standard GPO applying the above:
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
Network security: Restrict NTLM: Incoming NTLM traffic - Allow all
Network security: Restrict NTLM: NTLM authentication in this domain - Disable
In addition, the domain controller policy had to be updated with these settings:
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
Network security: Restrict NTLM: Add remote server exceptions for NTLM authentication -
Enabled with either all RDS servers listed, or use a wildcard name which will capture all RDS servers
Network security: Restrict NTLM: Add server exceptions in this domain - Enabled with either all RDS servers listed, or use a wildcard name which will capture all RDS servers
Took me a while to figure this one, so hopefully it will help someone somewhere :)

  • Mobile Me & mail.app "Cannot be contacted on port 143"

    Hi all,
After moving from SF to Miami I've recently been having problems with my me.com account in mail.app . Upon launching mail, the me.com account is always ofline (and my three other accounts are always online and working fine). When I click the "!" icon it returns the message "The server cannot be contacted on port 143". The strange thing is that after about 15 minutes emails finally seem to get through and the account is back online. Is there any way the account settings could be changed so the emails come in right upon launching mail?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    datlocin

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

I cannot sync contacts between my iPhone 4s and MacBook Pro after I upgraded the Mac with the latest operating system software upgrade. Even the Mac Store couldn't help...

That is because that sync ability (for contacts and calendars) has been removed. Use iCloud instead.
