  • Cannot Drag Finder Windows

Hello- I am having a problem with my finder that I have never encountered before.. the windows just will not drag at all. The weird thing is that- whenever I restart the first window that pops up drags fine, but any subsequent finder windows I open after that just will not budge. Sure enough, if I close the one finder window that does drag, I can't get another one to drag again until I restart and get that window back. I have absolutely no idea what is causing this- I have been wracking my brain to come up with a solution and am at a complete loss. Also- every other application window drags perfectly fine on the computer, but for some reason the finder is being really stubborn. I would appreciate any and all help on this matter to hopefully combat this extremely annoying problem.
    Thanks!

Delete the com.apple.finder.plist file in your /Library/Preferences/ (folder), OPTION-click & hold on the Finder's Dock icon, select Relaunch, and see if that fixes things. If so, reset your Finder preferences. If not, create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem persists. Report back.

  • Cannot install clean Windows 7 64-bit to GPT partition

    ASUS Maximus VII Formula
    HGST 4TB Deskstar NAS, SATA 3 (6 Gb/s), 7200 RPM, 64 MB
Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1
    SW_DVD5_Win_Pro_7w_SP1_64BIT_English_-2_MLF_X17-59279.ISO
    Procedure
On a Windows 7 Pro 32-bit BIOS laptop, I used Disk Management snapin to initialize the virgin 4TB disc to GPT. In Properties, it said it was a GPT disc. I then created a  1.0 TB partition with Quick Format unchecked (equivalent to DISKPART > clean)
so it would check for bad sectors.
I placed the 4TB disc into the ASUS Maximus VII Formula computer.
I made sure the UEFI BIOS was set to only use UEFI mode.
I booted into the Window 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 dvd.
During boot, ASUS screen said it was in UEFI mode.
    Windows installer loaded properly.
On the Windows screen for selecting which partition to install the OS to, I selected the 1.0 TB partition. The following error occurred:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
Since the ASUS boot screen said I was in UEFI mode, why does it not let me install Windows to my 1 TB GPT partition?
I then deleted the 1.0 TB partition.
The partition was deleted leaving unallocated space.
I used NEW link to create a partition.
NEW did not work, it just left the unallocated space and did not create a partition.
Since the ASUS boot screen said I was in UEFI mode, why does it not create a GPT partition?
From the ASUS driver downloads page, I also tried loading the
"Intel_RAID_Win7-8-8-1_V13101058" 64-bit drivers during the installation process with no success.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
How about your problem now? Based on my knowledge, Windows 7 X64 system is support GPT disk, but Windows 7 X32 system not. According to your description, your disk should be already GPT, this problem probably caused by Windows installation disk problem or
    motherboard UEFI boot settings mistake.
Therefore, please check these two points for test. If problem persists, in my opinion, it would be better to contact ASUS suppoort for further assistance with this problem.

  • Cannot install on Windows 7 64-bit

Trying to install iTunes onto my computer and having some problems. It was previously installed on my external HD, which recently was broken. Removed all traces of iTunes and Apple software etc. from my PC and tried a fresh install. Also used the Windows Installer cleanup to make sure all items were gone. restarted my PC.
Downloaded 64-bit version of the installer with no trouble and during installation I get the following problems...

Installer rolls back then tries again and apparently completes succesfully, but after install the when trying to open iTunes the following errors occur:
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
    Error 7 (Windows error127)
I can not figure out what the problem is. No other problems going on with any programs, iTunes! Any ideas?

These ones are tricky. But the following instructions are worth a try.
First do a complete uninstall of iTunes and related components (but don't reinstall just yet), as per the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    a. Launch regedit (Start >> Search Programs and Files >> type Regedit and open the regedit that comes up.)
    b. Access the following Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components
    c. Perform the following actions
    i. Right Click on Components Folder
    ii. Select Permissions
iii. Select Full Control and Read Permissions options
    iv. Select Advanced Button
    v. Select Owner Tab
vi. Select to Change Owner to the Administrators
vii. Check the option “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects”
viii. Select OK when prompted that it may not change all.
    ix. Select Apply
    x. Select Apply again
    xi. Exit the Registry Editor
Now try reinstalling iTunes again. Does it go in properly this time?

  • Error VE_FMS_CONNECT_FAILED, Firefox, Windows 7 64 bit

I consistently get this error on many different major sites (USA Today, NY Times, etc.). I am on version 11.8.800.94 of the player. This only occurs with Firefox (using version 23). Other browsers (Chrome, IE) work fine on the same URLs which have a problem in Firefox. I have seen similar symptoms on other posts but not exactly this scenario. As some other posts mention, the commercial prior to the video is rendered fine. This is one example URL where I get the problem:
    http://www.usatoday.com/videos/tech/columnist/2013/07/26/2591567/
    Any suggestions?

Well, I had originally ruled out my firewall as the culprit mainly because things worked fine with the other browsers on the same ports. Turns there was a firewall rule specific to Firefox. I removed that rule, and the video works now. I hope this helps someone else out there with the same issue.

  • ITunes 11.3.1.8 cannot delete playlist Windows 7 64-bit

I have been importing CD's and I created a few playlists. Now, I want to delete some playlists and iTunes only crashes EVERY TIME.I tried a Repair Install, but that didn't help. Here's what I'm doing:
    1.     Display playlists.
    2.     Select playlist to delete.
    3.     Right-click and select Delete from pop-up menu.
    4.     Acknowledge the Delete dialog box.
    5.     Pop-up stating iTune has stopped working.

I am having the exact same issue - Homesharing just cuts out - particularly with my Apple TV2.  All updates have been applied all around.  I know it is not the router because I can still access the Apple Store, NEtflicks, and other web-based services.  It is just the Homesharing that gets dropped.
As others have mentioned, closing iTunes and restarting it again helps temporarily.  Really seems to be an iTunes issue.

  • HP Laserjet 1012 Windows 7 64-bit Driver

I cannot find a Windows 7 64-bit driver for my Laserjet 1012. Has anyone else had any luck?

Win 7 X64 works with my Trusty HP Laserjet 1012.
    From Start/Devices and Printers.
    Choose add a printer.
Had to use Windows update at the bottom of the install printer driver window because the HP Laserjet 1015 was not on the list of HP printers. But after the update there it was "HP Laserjet 1015".
I did the intstall and it is working on my Win7 x64 machine and Office 2010. By the way, I chose Generic IEEE 1284.4 as the printer port (See comment below)
If you look on the HP website, they show the most recent drivers only for Vista x64 but the drivers are for the HP Laserjet 1010, 1012, 1015. So 1015 drivers will work but I did the install through Windows add printer as stated earlier in this thread and seems Win7 offers support for this legacy printer.
    Comment:
Oddly the HP HP Laserjet 1012 also shows in unspecified devices on the Devices and printers page and did so before I installed the printer...I could not delete it but right clicking and Running Troubleshout gave me the choice to fix it saying "The driver for Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support is not installed. Install the latest driver for the device." I believe chosing Apply this fix would have made it work. I am hoping on reboot it dissapears from unspecified. I will repost later

  • I downloaded Firefox to my Macbook, but when I drag it to the dock and open it, I get a blank Firefox window and so can't run Firefox.

Firefox shows properly downloaded with 18.7 meg. I dragged from the download folder into the Applications folder. When I try to drag from the Apps folder to the Dock, Firefox will not stay in the dock but instead shows on the desktop. When I click on the Firefox logo on the desktop, a Firefox window appears, with no options to do anything.

I downloaded firefox again, deleted the earlier version, and now firefox is working properly.
