Cannot E-Mail a PDF Form w/ a Submit Button

Hi, I feel really inept at this point and I'm hoping someone can help me (PLEASE!).  My Home Owner Assoc. uses PDF forms created in Nitro PDF, but most users user Adobe Reader.
When a Nitro PDF form is opened in Reader, everything works as designed (radio buttons, form filling, tabbing, drop down lists, etc.) EXCEPT the Submit Button. The response is "This Operation Is Not Permitted" when the button is clicked.
If I go to File, Attach to E-Mail, the response is "The e-mail copy that you just chose will e-mail a blank copy of this form.  The blank copy will not contain any data you might have typed into this form" with a button that states "E-MAIL A BLANK COPY".  Obviously this defeats the purpose.  There is a lightbulb TIP that states: "This form contains an email submit button, located on the form.  Clicking this email submit button will email a data file containing data you type into this form", so obviously Reader recognizes the submit button.
The form works perfectly in NitroPDF (of course) and NitroPDF support says that it is a "problem" on the Adobe end.
Can anyone help me please?  I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium SP!, Firefox 3.0.11, NitroPDF5.5, Adobe Reader Version 9.1.0.2009022700

Hi Michael, thanks for this info.  I really appreciate it... I
just have one point of clarification:  I don't want to save the
data put into the form at all, just e-mail it (not to be saved),
similar to printing it out complete with data, then ignoring the
file.  Is that still not possible?
Thanks soooo much for your help.  I don't feel quite as inept now

  • PDF form with one submit button that prints form and sanves PDF with data with a unique file name

We have a long medical form that patients can fill out at kiosks as they wait to see a doctor. We want one button so that the patient can print out the form with one click (and finish filling it out by hand if it's not finished already) and the same button click will save the form with a unique file name (using last name, first name, date, and/or email address so that the identity of the person who filled out the form will be readily apparent to anyone who wants to grab the user's responses later). Is Acrobat capable of doing something like this? LiveCycle Designer maybe? And if we continue with the PDF form and add a submit button, is there a way to program the button click to print and to save?
Thank you in advance of any suggestions that might accomplish this task.

I am not sure about the print, but it can probably be done -- possibly with a bit of JavaScript. As to the saving of the form, that is not reasonable at a kiosk. You would want the data submitted to a server (particularly with patient data), no e-mail or accessible drive. You can collect the data and put it in a database or import it to the form for printing yourself.

You have posted in a completely wrong forum. This one is exclusively for participants testing features of the site.
You may want to try reposting in the appropriate Acrobat forum, which you can find here:

  • Why when I e-mail a PDF form, does the recipient get a blank form?

Why when I e-mail a PDF form, does the recipient get a blank form?

Using Adobe to fill in. I think it may be my browser for e-mail will not support the forms. If I convert to Word or Exel, they send just fine.

  • I cannot e sign a pdf form

I am logged into my adobe acct so it isnt a question about forgotten passwords-however I cannot e sign a pdf form, why?

I saw the response below on another post and wonder if this will resolve your issue too.  Good luck.
The error in Adobe's programming on this page for some users is that what is addressed above is that you cannot enter a password because there is only ONE place that appears....there isn't two visible places that the user can match.
To get around this, first enter your password in the box you can see (first box).  Then the work around is that you enter the TAB KEY.  This will put you into the next box (that you can't see) and you will re-type your password blindly.  Make sure that you are typing it in exactly as the first as you are typing in the proverbial ether.   Hit the 'accept' button (or enter or whatever the OK button is for the page--sorry, i don't have the exact reference in front of me--but i think this part is self-explanatory) that you can see.  Hope this helps.

  • E-Mailing a PDF Form and not an .xml file

I have created a PDF form for staff to request time off.  The form is to be emailed to the Manager for approval.  I used the "Submit by E-Mail" button, however, when I hit the Submit by E-Mail button, it submits an .xml file.  I have looked through the forum, but have not been able to figure it out.  I need help in getting this done asap.  I am fairly new at this, therefore will require simple instructions.  I have attached the form, if anyone wants to fix this form me, however, I would appreciate getting the instructions on how to do this for future use. Thanks

Thanks, however, I just want the user to be able to hit the Submit by E-mail button, and e-mail the form to the Manager.  I believe, that this is what this button should be able to do, except that it converts the file to .XML format.
    Still looking for help.  thanks

  • Cannot read filled-out pdf form on iPad

    Hello,
I completed and saved a pdf form and can view it on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.7.5), but when I open it on the iPad, the form is blank and I can't see any of the filled-out data.  After searching online for solutions, I went into Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 > Advanced, but PDF Optimizer is grayed out and I don't find info on how to activate it.  Any help would be appreciated!

If Adobe did I would recommend Acrobat.
ReaderISO work okay but nothing with any javascript or ability work with forms
Currently Reader is just that it allows your look at some PDF's
That is the only PDF Application that allows full java script and Forms fillout.

  • Emailing a completed active PDF form using a Submit buttom? (Acrobat XI Pro.)

I have created a very large active PDF form with hundreds of fields, with text boxes, drop downs, radio buttons, check boxes and I think the kitchen sink. But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to create a Submit button that will send the completed form to an email address that is set to print anything that hits it.
I have read so much on it that I'm thoroughly confused. Do I need a script, is there a method through Acrobat menus I'm missing, or am I barking at the moon? Any help just getting me going in the right direction would be appreciated more than I could even say. Thanks!

Simply add a button and set it's Mouse Up action to "Submit a Form" and use a mailto type URL and specify that the complete PDF is sent. If it needs to work with Reader prior to version 11, it will additionally need to be Reader-enabled: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
Note that emailing is unreliable compared to submitting to a web server, and it's difficult to make secure, which is relatively easy with a web server.

  • PDF Form with a reset button

I designed an interactive pdf form for a company with a reset button. If someone fills it out then sends it to someone, what's stopping the receipient from hitting the reset button and erasing the info the person sent them.

If you don't want the end user to be able to reset the form at all, you can set up the form so that the user who populates the form before sending it to the recipient sets the default value of the fields equal to the field value, sets the fields to read-only, and removes the reset button. The recipient won't be able to clear the form at all or interact with the fields. They could also flatten the form, which converts the fields to regular page contents, so there are no longer fields present that can be reset. You would also want to remove the Reset button so that it doesn't appear on the page. This can all be done through a script, but Reader is not able to flatten fields.
If you need specifics, post again.

  • Flatten or Lock a fillable pdf when user presses submit button

Hi.  I've been searching all over the net trying to figure this out.  I have a form that I created in LiveCycle and in the form I inserted a "REGULAR" button, with the following script:
//Create a variable to hold the document object
    var
    oDoc = event.target;oDoc.mailDoc({
    bUI
    : true,
    cTo
    : "[email protected]",
    cSubject
    : "New Procedure - Operator "+TextField1.rawValue+" - ID "+TextField2.rawValue,
    cMsg
: "Attached is the New Procedure form for Operator "+TextField1.rawValue+" - ID "+TextField2.rawValue+".",
This script is emailing to "[email protected]" and populating the subject line and body of the message with some text and some items from fields in the PDF.
I want to have the PDF locked or flattened when the user hits the submit button, to ensure that the information put in the PDF isn't altered after they submit it.  I cannot find any way of doing this easily.  I found a script that will flatten the message (below), but I don't know how to add it to the email script I have noted above.  I don't want to add a second button to the form as I want to keep it as simple as possible for the user.
Any suggestions someone might have would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Dm cs3: How to create a proper layout for the E-mail sent to me by the submit-button

    Hi everyone,
I created a form by dreamweavercs3. By the submit-button an
e-mail is sent to the right E-Mail-Address. Everything ok.
But the result looks very poor. Like :
"name=xyc,adress=xtown".... and so one. Difficult to read and
    uncomfortable for further use.
How I can get a better lay-out of this e-mail. Is it possible
to create with that data f.e an excel-file. Or an jpg-sheet.
    Any ideas?
And PLEASE! I am a greenhorm in the dreamweaver-world. If you
like me to answer, do it in a way I can understand. (;-))

Please find the form tag on the page, copy it to the
    clipboard, and paste it
    into a reply....
    <form name="..." method="..."....
(that's an example of the tag - please copy everything from
    "<" through to
    ">")

  • Problems with my Form not showing " Submit" button.

    Hello.
I have finally managed to load my website thanks to the wonderful help from these forums, however, I now have a new problem!
My form on my contacts page does not display the “ Submit” button even though it clearly shows on my Mac on Iweb.
I have properly copied and written the html snippet, and it only shows people viewing my site on a Mac through Safari, but not on explorer or Firefox on standard PC’s. Why does it not work?
I am only using a form as people have told me by placing just your e-mail as a contact it attracts spam and so on.
Also the pages take a hundred years to load!
Is it possible that I need to reduce the size of the photos? Or, as friends have told me, is it because of my provider?
    My website is www.claxtonolives.com.
It seems there is always a problem.
I noticed the olives at the bottom of the page display as a “ boxed “ picture also and each of the boxes do not display properly on the outlets page.
What is going on? As I have mentioned it all looks fine in Iweb on my mac.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

You will need to make the snippet larger; large enough for Firefox and IE to be able to draw the submit button. Browsers draw elements in different ways and Firefox and IE are known to consume more space on the page to draw elements than all other browsers. In web design WYSI not necessarily WYG.
On the Contact page it's the Google map photo that requires some time to load. When you choose to draw a map instead of a satellite photo, loading time will be considerable less.

  • LiveCycle form creation - email submit button

I created a form in LiveCycle with an email submit button.  The button works for myself and another person for whom I was creating the form for.  However, now that I am testing this form with other users the email submit button is not working.  When users click the submit button it clicks blue but no response.  Because it was created in LiveCycle do I need to do something to enbed the functionality into the form.  The steps to follow in the help file have produced no results.
    Thanks

    Paul,
I did that and I didn't get any wizard.  Just a dialog box including instructions to save the file as another name and that is it.
Am I suppose to get something else?
    >>> pguerett <[email protected]> 8/19/2009 9:22 AM >>>
Then that is your issue .....I am guessing that your tests were done on Acrobat right?
To be able to submit a PDF from Reader you must Reader Extend the document. Open the file in Acrobat and under the Advanced/Extend Features for Adobe Reader menu follow the wizard to conclusion. Save the file as a different name (I like to have RE in the name so I know that I have extended it - filename_RE.pdf). Now try it with the new file.

  • Is it possible to set up a form with a submit button where the data in the fields gets added to an existing excel file, just like 'collect response' but without connecting to the internet?

I have a form that I want to use to collect peoples information with a submit button. I am trying to get the data that gets inserted to be added to an existing excel doc when the submit button gets hit, the form then resets and someone else can fill in the same form, hit submit and his data gets added to the existing data in the same excel doc. It is basically the same as the 'collecting response' option but without having to be online. The form is going to be used at a boat-show and I am going to get people to fill it out on an iPad. Does anybody know if this is possible?

You could connect a bunch of 3700s to each computer and do this .
Or...since you're the one who monitors the monthly limit, you could restrict an individual's internet access once you see that you guys are coming too close to the cap.
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • Using JavaScript to submit a form with multiple submit buttons

I am a newbie to JavaScript, so hopefully someone can answer
    this for me.
On my user registration form, I have two buttons that submit
the form, 'check_availability' (to check if the username is
available) and 'register'. In my PHP script, I check which button
was pushed by checking which POST value is set,
    $_POST['check_availability'] or $_POST['register'].
If I set the 'register' button to a JavaScript function that
validates the form and then submits it, how do I get my PHP script
    to think 'register' was pushed?

Sorry I used my old captcha script there.
