• ICal dock icon wont update in Leopard

My iCal dock icon has stopped updating the current date.
I have dragged the icon off the dock and re-dragged a fresh version from the iCal application but this only works for the current day where again it will not update the next day.
I have had Leopard for almost 2 months and this problem has only just started in the last week.

Yes, I have the same problem as well. And it started happening after the recent software update. I have also tried the suggested solution - dragging out the icon and restarting, but it still doesn't work.
When I upgraded to Leopard I was happy that everyday the iCal icon updated the date automatically, but I think the Tiger way of launching iCal at login and hiding its window would have to be the solution in Leopard as well

• ICal dock icon "stuck" on fixed date

Today is July 6, but the iCal dock icon on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard says 5. Yesterday, it said 1, but I rebooted last night. The icon changes to the correct number when I launch iCal, but as soon as I quit, it goes back to showing the day I last rebooted.
Any ideas? This one has me stumped. No problem with iCal running on my Mac Mini with Leopard. Adding new events doesn't change a thing.

I noticed this morning mine said Jul 7. When I clicked on it to open iCal, then closed iCal it said Jul 9. Annoying since I use that icon as a quick "date check" sometimes.

• ICal dock icon & iPhoto event's name issue

Recently I noticed that the date number in the iCal dock icon and the event's title in iPhoto were a few pixel shifted up. How can I solve this?
Here are two screenshots:

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Yes, I see on the iCal icon the 4 is shifted up into the red. It's odd. Try this...
It may be LaunchServices. These are only cache files but can get corrupted.
Launch /Utilities/Terminal and *copy & paste* this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices:
Code:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

Then press return. Wait until terminal returns to the command line. Quit Terminal. After that, log out and back in or restart. Let us know

• Alert indicator on iCal Dock Icon

My iCal dock icon has a '1' in a red circle. I assume this indicates an alarm for an event or ToDo. How can I find the event or ToDo in question? And, can I instruction iCal that I don't want it to be showing the indicators on the Dock Icon?
Thanks for any assistance
John
Mac OS 10.5.8, iCal 3.0.8

John,
My iCal dock icon has a '1' in a red circle.
That means that you have an event invitation. Click on the envelope icon in the bottom left corner of the iCal window to display the invitation.
...can I instruction iCal that I don't want it to be showing the indicators on the Dock Icon?
Go to Mail>Preferences...>General>Add invitations to iCal: (Never)
;~)

• ICal dock icon contains a "1" in the right corner

My iCal dock icon has a "1" in the upper right corner and I do'nt know why it is there or how to remove it. Any thoughts? It's probably a simply fix but I am brain dead on this.
Thanks.

Nicholas,
The number "1" means that you have an event invitation. Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification.

• ICal Dock Icon Query

My iCal Dock Icon has a red circle with a "one" in it - similar to unread emails in Mail.
I'm sure this is an alert of some kind - but what? How do I locate it?

ArchiTexan,
Welcome to the Forums! Now I'm using 10.5.6 so it might be a little different but for me I goto:
Show -> notifications from the menu bar along the top. That badge is for notifications and invitations. If you want to turn it off so they don't automatically add goto preferences and turn off Automatically add invitations from Mail.
Hope that helps,
Weston

• Cannot edit iCal to do's

I can no longer edit the to do entries in my iCal! I used to be able to click on it and the edit box came up. Now it no longer does and I cannot edit them at all!! Help!

Welcome to Apple Discussions,
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
Hope that helps.

• ICal Dock Icon Sync

My iCal icon in my dock reads APR 26 (yesterday) yet, when I open the application the same dock icon switches to APR 27 (today).
However, when I close the iCal application the dock icon reverts back to APR 26 (yesterday).
To help matters, my iCal time zone support preference is turned on.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2).

• ICal Dock Icon wrong

Recently my dock icon for iCal has been lagging one or sometimes two days behind the actual date. Before it was updating just fine, now I have been noticing this problem and can't seem to fix it. When I open it up it displays the right date, but when I close it it reverts back to an older date.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Same problem here. Showing 4 Dec in the dock, changes to 5th when I open iCal, reverts to 4th when I close it. Not sure but it might have been since I installed the latest software update direct from the Apple site. I had already updated through Software Update but did the direct one after noticing errors when repairing permissions.

• Cannot edit iCal events on iPhone 3G with OS 5.0

Now that I've upgraded by iPhone 3G to OS 5.0, I cannot edit events on the phone that were created in iCal on my MacBook Air (running Lion). How do I fix this?

The edit feature was working correctly with the calendars and stopped. Performed a sync through iTunes removing syncing preferences first. Did not resolve the issue. I am considering restoring the iphone.

• ICal Dock icon not changing

It's the 2nd of February today, but the dock icon still shows that it's the 1st. When I open iCal, the icon switches to the 2nd, but reverts back to the 1st when I close iCal. I'll check again tomorrow, but this might need a fix.

Oh awesome, it worked thanks! I forgot about plists, silly me.
For reference, navigate to:
[yourusername]>Library>Preferences>iCalExternalSync.plist
Delete the plist file and logout/in- should do the trick. Thanks teorema67!

• ICal Dock Icon - how to rotate the date to a straight, vertical angle?

As you all know the date in the iCal-Doc-Icon is rotated a few degrees against clockwise. I would love to have this straight, because this **** icon is the only one which jumps out of the line, this is driving me nuts ^^
There must be a way to rotate the date a few degrees clockwise...anyone with some good knowledge?
Thanks guys!

Like this? Looks funny, do you really want to do it?
This is a somewhat risky operation; you should only try it, if you understand the structure of an application package and know what you are doing, for you have to exchange a file in the Resources folder of the iCal application, and probably even then it is not really worth the risk
The steps to do:
Create a custom application icon of the rotated, empty calendar (without the day numbers) - I put an icon file here: http://dreschler-fischer.de/icons/App-empty.icns.zip, download it and uncompress it.
Quit iCal. Make a backup copy of the iCal Application. Make sure this backup copy is working by launching it and quitting it again.
Select the iCal Application in the Finder. Ctrl-click it, and select "Show Package Contents". Open the Folder "Contents", then the folder "Resources".
Make a backup copy of the icon file "App-empty.icns" in the "Resources" folder; then replace the icon file "App-empty.icns" with the straightened icon file. You will have to authentificate as administrator to do that.
Close the package folder and relaunch iCal.
If you messed up the application, restore it from the backup copy you made.
Cheers

P.S.
icon is the only one which jumps out of the line, this is driving me nuts
Don't you have Mail, GarageBAnd, iPhoto, dictionary, Textedit, AddressBook? My icons are all rotated ....

• ICal dock icon...

its the actual date when its not on.
is this with the update or just me?
(yes i know i posted this twice but i posted it in the wrong place the first time)

The iCal icon in the Dock will be the actual date in Mac OS X 10.5 or when iCal is open in earlier Mac OS X versions. Otherwise, it's always July 17.

• ICal dock icon stuck on date!

On my dock, the date on the Ical icon is wrong. How can I correct it?

The date? I don't see any date in the dock. Try clicking on the icon while holding down the command key and see if you can drag it out of the Dock. Drag until you get a puff of smoke. Then go to your Applications folder and drag the application back into the Dock.
