Cannot edit iCal events on iPhone 3G with OS 5.0

Now that I've upgraded by iPhone 3G to OS 5.0, I cannot edit events on the phone that were created in iCal on my MacBook Air (running Lion). How do I fix this?

The edit feature was working correctly with the calendars and stopped. Performed a sync through iTunes removing syncing preferences first. Did not resolve the issue. I am considering restoring the iphone.

Cannot edit calendar events on iphone with most of the calendars, one personal calendar has the Edit button available but only on a few events--not all. We hosting the calendars through an ical server, running OSX 10.5.8.
The software is up to date on the computer and on the iphone. Any ideas how to get the edit feature to appear?

You will need to do what it says, contact iTunes Support. These are user-to-user support forums, if you thought you were contacting Apple by posting here. Go here:

  • Accepting ical events on iphone with 3.1.3

Not able to open or accept ical invite attachments on my iphone. Is there a resolution available (I have to open the and accept the attachment on my Macbook to accept and then the event syncs to my iphone with mobileme. I rather not go through this extra step if possible).

This conversation is a couple of months old, but... iPhone OS 3.1 was announced AND nothing happened, .ics invitations in an email cannot be read on the iPhone and/or posted to calendar. What's also pretty surprising is that I have gone through ten pages of this "Mail, Contacts and Calendar" discussion forum and I have only seen 2 maybe 3 mentions of this very frustrating situation. Apple doesn't seem to be bothered by this and in the meantime we, the users, keep getting frustrated. Let's wait.

  • Edit iCal event from calendar1 to calendar 2 on iPhone dupliates the event

    Hi All,
I have a very strange problem with my iCal server.
A user has 5 calendars in his account. When he accesses his account every 5 calendars work perfect from the LAN and from the Internet (outside)... He enters an event in calender1, changes the event to calender2, it gets moved perfectly. This happens on OS X clients.
Now the culprit, which drives me nuts...
When he changes an event on his iPhone or iPad, the event gets duplicated. So the event which was in calendar 1 is now in calendar 2 as well, but stays in calender1 too...
Hmm, I have searched here, googled my head off, and cannot find a solution.
Does anyone have this problem or just me?
    thanks
    Rob
Everthing is on 10.6.6 (Server Clients, iPhones are on 4.2.1. All calendars reside on the server, there are no local calendars.

    Hello there,
I have the same problem. I use a 3rd party calendar app (miCal) to synchronize with my Google calendars. Their support told me to try it with iCal on iPhone, and its the same problem, so the problem resides there, as miCal is synchronizing with iCal on the iPhone.
When I move an event from calendar1 to calendar2, it is displayed as supposed in iCal and miCal. When I access Google calendar directly via their web interface, you can see the "old" event in calendar1, though. So it's still there.
I'm pretty sure the problem does not reside with Google, as I found some forum post with the same problem somewhere else on the Internet, but with MobileMe for calendar sync instead of Google.
Currently I'm running 4.3.2 (according to the post above, it should be fixed with 4.3.1) but I still run into the same problem again and again as I move events from one calendar to another on a regular basis.
With iCal on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8) it works as it's supposed to. No complaints there. This duplicating of events happens only when I move events on the iPhone. Any solutions there?
    Thank you!
    Thomas

  • How do I delete an event on iPhone calendar with no edit icon

How do I delete an event on iPhone when no edit icon appears

Have you tried to open the event and delete it? Tap on the event to open it, then scroll down to delete it.
You can also try toggling iCloud syncing for the calendar on and off (or off and on), this sometimes makes hte edit button reappear.

  • Help....duplications of ical events on iPhone and only syncing from mac to iPhone?

    Hi,
Has anyone got any suggestions for fixing this problem.....
My iPhone syncs with my Mac perfectly via iTunes apart from iCal, which is giving me real grief! iCal on my mac is in perfect order and syncs events to my phone but my phone has duplicate and triplicate events and even events in different states of being edited. The iphone doesnt sync events made in it back to the mac either.
It syncs contacts etc. fine, just not iCal events.
Is there an easy way of fixing this or even totally reseting iCal on the Mac and iPhone so it clears this up? (obviously, I need to keep my calendar events though)
I've tried replacing the info on the phone, reseting the phone, changing to iCloud syncing and back again and I even upgraded to the iPhone 5 (which I was going to do anyway )
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8, iCal 4.0.4, iTunes 11.0.2 and I was on an iPhone 4 and now iPhone 5. It's been happening for two months now and it's getting really frustrating!
Thanks for any help in advance

This fixed my problem - finally!!

  • Cannot edit imported events

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but wondering if others are having this issue.
When I import an event (for example from evite.com) it gets entered into my calendar. However, I am unable to edit the event. I can't change the location, time, or any other category. I'm guessing this is because it sees the event as not belonging to me.
I should be able to edit an event regardless of ownership. It's on my calendar. If iCal warned me that I shouldn't edit it, that's one thing. But not allowing me to edit it is another.
I was able to make the necessary changes through MobileMe, but I shouldn't have to do this.
    Is this a bug?

I have the same issue. Specifically, I cannot edit events imported from facebook using the "Export" link. I wouldn't call it a bug as much as an ease of use issue/poor design. I just performed a work-around that was kludgey, but worked. I don't know if all the steps are necessary, but here's what I did. I copied the event and pasted it into another calendar. I then double-cliecked the event to view it. Facebook auto-populates the attendees field, so when I pasted it into the new calendar, it let me add or delete new attendees and click send. Even though I deleted the attendee, it still sent an email to them saying the event was cancelled (?!), but then, after it was sent, I double-clicked the event and the send button changed to an update button and all the fields were editable. So I changed everything and clicked update. This time it did not send an email and changed the event info, including putting it back in the original calendar. After that, every time I double-click the event, it's editable (no edit button) with a done button. Weird. Every other event has an edit button to make changes. I definitely think this is just poor design.

  • Can't edit iCal events like before installing Snow Leopard.

When creating a New Event or trying to Edit an existing Event the title field isn't editable like before I installed Snow Leopard. If I try to click on the header field to edit it, the whole event box turns into a window with red & green buttons at the top and I STILL can't edit the title area! This doesn't make sense! Did something go wrong installing Snow Leopard? I've reinstalled it twice and still the same behavior. This can't be the way things are supposed to work editing events in iCal. I can edit the location and all the other fields in the event panel, but NOT the title. The only way I can try to edit the event title is by hitting the enter key and try to add characters before it switches to an un-editable field again.

Perhaps you've just updated your OS and now have the newer version of iCal which is ***** compared to the faster, more elegant older version. The older iCal presented every event's details in a ready to edit format just by clicking on the item in the calendar.
Now you have to double click that item you're interested in (one two) to get a window that shows you the item's details. Then, to edit, you must click the 'edit' button (three) upon which another editable window will allow your event details to be edited. Finally, after finishing your edits, you must click 'done' (four). Yes, that's right, 4 clicks to do what used to require only the initial click to specify which event you wanted to edit.
Four times as many clicks for a utility application that has no further improvements, only this annoying change from what was once a very efficient tool.
I do hope a future "update" will bring back the elegance of the older version with some true improvements.

  • ICal on macbook pro won't sync iCal events from iPhone 5

I've synced/backed up my iPhone 5 with iTunes within the past hour.
After it finished, I went onto iCal on my macbook pro and saw that it didn't have events my iPhone 5 had.
So then I went to settings and changed the iCloud settings so that it would back up iCal.
But even after that, it took too long to back up and it failed at backing it up.
So I googled how long iCloud takes to back up and realized that the more I had for it to back up, the longer it takes.
Now I'm down to 500-something mb for iCloud to back up. It's still taking a long time.
THEN I googled to see if anyone else has had any problems with syncing iCal.
There was one person who deleted iTunes 11.0.1 and downgraded to the 10 version.
Is there any way for me to sync/backup my iCal on my macbook pro with iCal events from my iPhone 5, vice versa?
(Other than downgrading, if there is one)

Your signature says you have 10.3.x but presumably this can't be correct - could you please make sure it's correct to prevent confusion. 10.7.2 is required for iCloud - your Mac won't be able to sync with pre-Lion systems.
The fact that you have iCloud accounts showing does suggest you have Lion: are they showing in System Preferences>iCloud, or where? You can only enter one there.
Are the two different or the same? You could try deleting both and then starting the setup again from scratch.

  • Videos cannot be put in my iPhone 4s with ios 6

Hello.  I have problems in puting my videos (in MP4 format) into my iPhone 4S with ios 6.
Although I can put them in my itunes (in my computer), but I cannot syn them into my iPhone.
Does anyone know what I can do??
    Thanks.

Hi! I don't what's happened for your phone but, you can have more battery life with turning of Wifi, decries brightness, turn off location service and etc. also you shold use less Free+Much Ads apps becuase they use more battery than paid apps normaly.
for more informations about battery normal life see here.
I guess it's not a normal issue. so connect to Apple Care or wait for a better answer...

  • Ical events on iphone 5S will not sync to desktop

I have an iphone 5s operating 7.0.4. My ical events will not not USB sync to my desktop OS 10.6.8. My itunes version 11.1.3. Any ideas?
    Thanks

No you shouldn't have to ever repurchase anything.
I would go, on the mac, in iTunes, go to iTunes store section. Sign into you apple id, and over towards the right hand side bar you'll see a section titled 'quick links'     look for purchased and click on that.
At that point, you should see your purchase history and be able to re download them right to your mac here.
You'll also want to authorize your computer with your apple id(s) by clicking 'store' and going to authorize this computer and sign into your apple id(s)
At this point all should be well.
Might turn on auto downloads on your mac as well byt going clicking 'ituned' in the upper left corner of your display, going to preferences, click the store tab, then check mark all that applies about half way down.
    Hope this helps 

    Hello jo ann51,
For correcting mail issues, I would recommend reviewing the following article. It contains helpful troubleshooting steps and information:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

They show up on the iPhone but not on the Mac? In what calendar do these events show on your iPhone, a iCloud/CalDAV calendar or an "On My iPhone" calendar?
I've tried syncing and this is not adding my events back to ical on my iphone. Please help!
Are you trying to get them back on your iPhone or back on your Mac?

  • Cannot edit iCal to do's

I can no longer edit the to do entries in my iCal! I used to be able to click on it and the edit box came up. Now it no longer does and I cannot edit them at all!! Help!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.
