Cannot edit keywords - white border on box

I have an issue which emerges intermittently & I do not know what causes it or how to escape it once it has occurred....
The keyword box for an image suddenly shows a white border and its contents cannot be edited. Keywords can only be added through the input box below the main box, keywords cannot be removed once input and cannot be edited.
If anyone can explain what brings this on and how to escape it then I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Scott

I just created the white border.  Quitting and coming back into Lightroom cleared the issue.
Prior to me noticing the border I did a lot of events that may or may not be associated.
I searched for "Christopher", added photos to a quick collection, selected all of them and exported photos from Lightroom as email size and full resolution. Used Photoshop to convert some Microsoft Paint images to PDF then used Lightroom to Synch the folder and import 2 Photoshop documents which I keyworded.  Of course, the customer wanted more screen shots captured and converted so I did the convert to Photoshop and synch/import to Lightroom.  I pulled the MS .BMP files directly into Photoshop from Explorer without going through Lightroom.  The Photoshop documents were discovered and imported.
The immediate actions just prior to the problem.
Photoshop was open with no open documents.  I started key wording raw files that had minimal previews.  I completed a series of about 10 photos with the keywording menu (right side menus) open.  The photos were in loupe view.  Just prior to noticing the white box I had zoomed into a photo to identify a person.  I started typed his name "parker" which contains a lot of Lightroom hot keys.  I noticed the white box after the computer returned to normal and I was back to the keywording screen.
My crappy computer may be to blame
It is fairly slow (looking to replace it).  Sony Vaio VGN-CR410E, Intel Core2 Duo T5550 @ 1.83Ghz (2 core processor), 3GB RAM, Windows Vista 64.  Photos on an external HDD (USB 2.0), previews and catalog on local drive.
Lightroom
Lightroom version 3.4.1 [729592] Built-in memory and Real Memory available to Lightroom 3061.6MB.  Real memory used by Lightroom 464.5 (variable).  Application, Library Path, and Settings folder are all on C: drive in default locations.
Hopefully that helps someone figure out the cause.  I don't do a lot of software testing but it is in my past.

  • Cannot Control Bleed - White Border - CS4

Good morning.  I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction regarding how to get rid of the white border that is being printed on my paper.
I have looked around and found the following posts a little helpful but they weren't able to solve my issue.
In following the first thread it appears to be unresolved and a link provided within, to another thread, doesn't seem to resolve my issue either even though it appears to be answered in that thread.
The answer to this thread (shown below) mentions to go into 'Print Booklet'...
...and in the Margins section to enter the depth of bleed.
So I go into the Margins section (as shown below on my computer) but am not sure what to select.  I've deselected the 'Auto' adjust to make sure my bleed is set to 'zero' but it still prints with the white margin.
And if I follow the directions from the Answer further, by selecting 'Print Settings', I don't see anything that references 'PDF' in this window or series of windows that was mentioned.
It appears there are many places to control bleed and margins in InDesign.  And after reading that 'bleed' is a required for control of your printing it makes sense.
But how do I print a sample of this artwork for approval, the way it is supposed to look when printed, without the border?
And furthermore, if my end product is supposed to be a tri-fold printed on an 8.5x11 paper and I have sized my artboards to fit this size (in thirds - 3.61 in x 8.5 in) but I am required to have crop marks, registration marks and color bars for the printer does that mean I have to print this 8.5x11 artwork on larger paper?

If you printer doesn't support borderless printing then you can't do what you want without using larger paper and cutting it.
And to be honest, that's the best way since borderless printers work by scaling the output and you can't control it.

Now select Metadata and the Title box (also turns white) !
Now select Keywords again and Hey Presto !!  White line around box and limited editing, if any !?
(If u now go back to Metadata, you'll see that's white lined too )

  • Cannot edit or add keyword tags

I'm getting this strange behvior and cannot figure out why.
In the Keywording panel, the rectangle where you can enter or edit keyword tags shows a white border.  Tags cannot be added or changed.  The dropdown above the box is set to Enter Keywords.
Not sure to how restore editing ability.
    Thank you,
    Robert

    Robert,
Exiting and re-opening Lightroom is said to work. This bug has been described here before, but no one has been able to pin down the sequence of operations that causes it. If you can find a consistent way of making it happen, we'd love to hear, and the good folks at Adobe would be glad to hear as well.
Most of the work in fixing a bug is finding a way to consistently reproduce it.

  • Printing a .pdf with "boxed" sections appearing as "white" and showing a "white" border to the "box"

    Dear Community,
I have created a .pdf file from an email and then "boxed" sections of the document with a white border and a white fill, intending the recipient to be unable to see the text within the "box". However, when I print the document it appears as if the "boxed" sections did not exist. In other words, all the text in the email is printed. Can anyone help with a solution, please.

  • Cannot edit text in Drawing Markup Text Box

I cannot edit text in Drawing Markup Text Box after saving and closing the pdf file and then reopening it.  I go to add additional text in the Text Box, and nothing happens.
Hope you can lend me a hand,

    Adobe X Pro 10.1.4

In the previous print screen, the layer icon has a paintbrush in it. In the new menu page I cut and pasted the text is still 'text' layer. I am not able to format it other than change font color. I want to make it two columns of text like the original pdf, and change the font.

  • Cannot Edit Text Box

I have opened a file that I wish to edit. I cannot edit the text within one of the text boxes. The text box is not locked.
    Any insight?

Any hints as to what actually happens when you try and edit it?
We try and not play 20 questions, but here goes…
    1. Is the text actually in a textbox, ie is it possibly a graphic like a .tiff or .pdf?
    2. Is it under something else?
    3. Is it a master object? +Menu > Format > Advanced > Make Master Objects selectable+
    4. Is it bigger than a breadbox?
    5. Is it animal, vegetable or mineral…

  • How to get rid of white border around Container Div (main box)?

I have look and look for a solution but couldn't find one. I'm developing a website but the main issue is the white (I changed it black so you can see what I'm talking about)  border around the website when i go to preview it from DW to Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.
I've tried everything! from setting body margins all to zero but nothing works... can anyone help me?!

No that's not what I'm talking about, the black div bot on the top is what i put, I put the entire style.css code in my last post, I'm talking about the white border on the right inside the scroll bar.
let me explain from the bottom, let say I don't put Margin: 0 under Body  in my style.css . I get a white (I made it Green to show you better) border around my entire webpage looking like this:
so this made me curios because I wanted to know why it gave me this border without putting Margin: 0 under Body in my Style.css sheet. so i went to inspect element inside Google Chrome and saw this:
I was shocked because it automatically added 8 px in Margin around the body. So I took all the advice i was given in this thread and put the Margin: 0 ; under Body in my Style.css Sheet and it did this:
for Some reason it says Margin 0 in the inspect element under body but put a default white border there to the right....
I have explained this the best way possible. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME?!
ps. its doing this for all browsers so i know it not a chrome issue!

  • Using Postcard Template, how do I print with NO white border?

I am trying to use the 4 postcard template and cannot get the photo printed without a white border around the edge of the paper. I want to the photo to take up the entire card. What am I doing wrong? Obviously I am new to this so I would appreciate very simple instructions.

To test how close to the edge your printer prints, just make up a page in Pages with an all over grey box and print that.
Then adjust your postcard template to suit.
You have not said whether you are printing to A4 or US Letter.
    http://www.office.xerox.com/multifunction-printer/color-multifunction/phaser-856 0mfp/spec-enus.html
suggests you can print to larger paper stock and possibly trim it back.

  • Removing White Border

Hey, I'm new to Elements 10 and am experiencing my first real problem.  I have a fun printer that allows me to print photos onto photo paper and I was experimenting with a couple photos.  My problem: They are printing with an annoying white border and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it.  If anyone could please shed some light onto this matter, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.

To add to Mark's post, not all printers will print borderless, so check the documentation. If your printer is ok for borderless, follow these steps:
Go to File>print in Editor. I never print from the Organizer.
In the dialog that comes up, go to #2 Printer Settings
Click on change settings, then advanced settings
    Tick the box for Borderless
Under #3 for Paper type, be sure to select the borderless option for your size paper stock
Crop the picture to the dimensions of the paper stock before you send it to the printer.
This same issue came up yesterday and was resolved by implementing these measures.

  • Any way to globally set "edit keyword tag"

When you double click a keyword in the Keyword List, you're taken to the "Edit Keyword Tag" window, where you have several option boxes to click. Is there any way to globally set these options. For instance, I would like to always forego the option to "export containing keywords." (I'm finding it easier to click the containing keywords according to my preference, which is easy to do, since all the containing keywords appear as part of the hierarchy.)
But of course I don't want to go through each and every keyword that I already have and unclick that option. It'd be far easier to do this globally. Is that an option anywhere?
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Cannot edit any roles in CUP5.2 due to "Enter a valid Role Name" error

    We are running CUP 5.2.
I am having a problem with our Roles after they were uploaded into CUP; I cannot make any changes to the Role Details because CUP returns an error stating that our Role Names are invalid.
First I uploaded the roles (I continued to receive errors when trying to use the template, so I did them by uploading with the "Selected Roles" option).
Once they were uploaded, from the menu, I select:    Roles --> Search Role    and then I choose a role from the resulting list.  When the next screen appears (the "Role Details" screen), I added all of the respective details (Business Process, Sub-Process, Detailed Description, Role Approver, Functional Area, etc.).   When I pressed the SAVE button, I received the following error:
    Please correct the following errors:
Please enter a valid "Role Name". Only Alpha-numeric, Space or Underscore characters are allowed
So I realize what the problem is - the "Role Name" field is automatically populated with our security role name as it exists in our SAP system ... and because our security roles all begin with Z:, it does not follow the CUP naming convention.
I'd like to just update the "Role Name" field but when you are in the "Role Details" screen, the "Role Name" field cannot be edited.
I saw the "Export" button and used that, in an attempt to edit the file to replace each occurence of Z: with Z_, and then upload it again.
So I updated the file accordingly, and then did an upload, selecting the "Overwrite Existing Roles" box.
    It returned a successful message:
Import Status: 133 successfully imported out of 133 records found
Yet, when I go back to the list of roles, the roles still exist as Z: instead of Z_ so I still cannot edit any of the roles to add the required details ...  has anyone had a similar issue and know how to work around this?
    Thanks!

    Hello Alpesh,
    Thank you for replying!
I had already tried to export the roles and replaced the Z: with Z_ before creating this message, but the upload attempts failed due to the explanation above.  But this time, I followed your (good) advice to delete the original Z: roles first, before uploading the corrected file.
Sadly, even after I deleted the original Z: roles prior to uploading the corrected file, I am still having no luck ... when I uploaded the file, again it (falsely) reports that the import was successful:
Import Status: 133 successfully imported out of 133 records found
After seeing that message, I quickly checked the roles, and none of the roles had uploaded.  So now I have ZERO roles.
Any further ideas?  I am thinking it may be something very small that is being overlooked ... perhaps certain buttons must be selected/not selected on the import screen?  Or could it be an issue with the file itself?
When I do the import, I only select the button for "From File ..." and retrieve the file from my desktop via the Browse button.  I do not select any other button, nor do I make a selection from the System or Role Source boxes.  I have just selected that one button only ... I've tried it with and without checking the "Overwrite Existing Roles" box, but neither one works.
The part that bugs me the most is that I receive what I perceive to be an inaccurate/bogus "successful" status each time I attempt the upload of the file.  At least if I had an error message, I might have something to work with to troubleshoot this.

  • How do I get rid of the white border that prints on my pictures?

    Lightroom 2 - Windows 7 64-bit - Nikon D700
I have just downloaded my Lightroom software to my new computer which runs Windows 7.  I had lightroom on my old Vista computer and just had to change the border size to remove it from my pictures, however, for some reason it will not let me remove it anymore.  When I try to adjust the border size it states it cannot be smaller than .2.  Therefore, I have a white border around all my pictures I am printing.  HELP!  How do I get rid of this border.  Thank you so much for the help.

Make sure you select a borderless papersize in the page setup. That will allow Lightroom to set the margins to zero. Otherwise it sets it to the minumum value the printer tells Lightroom it can print at at the current print size. Your printer and driver need to support borderless printing for this to work.

  • I cannot edit text in a PDF created from scanning

I am using Adobe XI, and I have created a PDF by scanning a document.
When I do click on a paragraph to edit text, all the page appears selected, it seems to be an image. At that moment a message pops up saying: this page has not editable text or digitalized content. The editing tools are disabled, so I cannot edit text.
If I do export a page to Excel or Word, I can edit text there, although there are some kind of data that is not converted properly (even when I have executed OCR).
I have edited preferences, but I am not sure if I did it correctly.
    Thanks

I am using Acrobat XI Pro on PC.
Of course, I have done all the steps you mention,  but I wanted someone to confirm me if these setting values are correct in order to obtain the best results. I repeat the paragraph of my previous discussion that I want to clarify, just in case some of you can help me, mainly about optimization
I digitalized the document from the scanner. This scanner is installed in the net, so I personalized the settings in Acrobat and I chose memory mode instead of native mode.
    Mode color: black on white
    Resolution: 600 ppp
As you say in your mail, I understand I should choose ClearScan OCR not searchable just at this moment.
Well, and what about the options of optimization?, JBIG2 (without lost)?, 4 CCITT?
And filters?, I have: activated, low, activated, medium
Are these values congruous or compatible?
    Thank you

  • White border problem when zooming with SWF in PDF

    Hi Everyone,
I have posted my original querry in the Indesign forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5176893#5176893
I'm having problems with zooming whedn trying to create a PDF with SWF inserted.. at certain levels of zoom I get a white border on the left and right of the document which squashes the content into the middle and makes it a little pixelated.  I also get a thin white border on the right when zooming out.  Does anyone have any ideas where I might be going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Em

Not wishing to be rude, but that workflow is not supposed to be used that way.
InDesign's ability to export SWFs is intended for showing the file in a Web page, and Acrobat's ability to embed SWFs is only intended for small annotations placed within the pages of a conventional PDF file. By placing the entire Layout as a SWF you are in effect playing the entire thing as a movie in Flash Player - all the advantages of the PDF format are completely lost, there is no vector-rendering of any content or text, and users will find it very hard to understand what's going on (the navigation buttons in Acrobat or Reader will not work, text is not searchable or accessible, multiple pages cannot be printed, etc.).
It's not entirely trivial to do this 'correctly', as at the moment we don't have full support in the PDF standard for all the interactive features that InDesign can apply to page objects - that's why they are grouped into PDF and non-PDF in the various selection menus in InDesign. Rather than saving as a SWF you should be using Export to Interactive PDF, and ensuring that the various interactive items and media are all selected on the export dialog.
Basic stuff such as links and video will export just fine that way, and the PDF will preserve everything else in the Layout as native text or graphics so it'll look fine, navigate properly and be searchable. Animations and buttons will not work as expected, so you may have to revise their behavior if PDF is your intended output destination.
