Cannot edit or see CR2 files in Elements8

I cannot open my Canon RAW files (CR2) in the Elements8 Editor as it says the filetype is not supportet. Neither can I see the files in the Organizer. When I try to Add unmanaged files to Organizer it says that: The file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included in the Organizer. I have downloaded and installed Camera RAW 6.2.
I have also downloaded the DNG converter - when I convert a CR2 to DNG it is visible in Organizer and I can edit it in Camera RAW.
I hope I do not have to convert all my raw files to DNG to be able to use Elements8 !
Can anybody help?

Hmm - I have made hidden folders/files visible, but cannot find a folder or any files that seem to have anything to do with Camera RAW - no files called ACR anywhere, not even in the fileformats folder. Should there be a folder in the Adobe/Photoshop Elements 8.0/Plug-Ins folder?
When I run the Camera Raw 8BI-file it does not come up with the usual installation options - it starts Elements (but then I have not been able to remove the previous camera raw yet).

  • Can some help with CR2 files ,Ican`t see CR2 files in adobe bridge

    can some help with CR2 files ,I can`t see CR2 files in adobe bridge when I open Adobe Photoshop cs5- help- about plugins- no camera raw plugins. When i go Edit- preference and click on camera raw  shows message that Adobe camera raw plugin cannot be found

    That's strage. Seems that the Camera Raw.8bi file has been moved to different location or has gone corrupt. By any chance did you try to move the camera raw plugin to a custom location?
    Go To "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats" and look for Camera Raw.8bi file.
    If you have that file there, try to download the updated camera raw plugin from the below location.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5371&fileID=5001
    In case  you ae not able to locate the Camera Raw.8bi file on the above location, then i think you need to re-install PS CS5.

  • Cannot Edit Captions in One File

    Hello,
         I'm using Captivate 3, and I have this one project file that I cannot edit the captions in. I wasn't having this problem until I imported a slide from another project. Ever since the slide imported, I haven't been able to edit the text captions. When I double click on the caption I want to edit, nothing happen. If I click once on the caption to highlight it, and go to the menu and click on an option to edit the caption, nothing happens. Captivate is only doing this on the project which I imported a slide, every other project I have opened works fine. I tried to save the file as a different name, and I still get the same result. Does anyone have any other ideas? Am I not doing something right? Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hello,
    Could be that the CP-file or objects have become corrupted. I'd recommend creating a new blank file with the same resolution, and copy and paste the slides to this new file. Better not all at once, so that you could perhaps find the "guilty slide".

  • HELP! Cannot open Canon RAW (CR2) file in PP5.5.2 (Mac)

    Hi folks.
    I cannot import RAW (CR2) files (Canon 5D2) files into premiere pro 5.5.2!
    I can get them into After Effects (through cameraraw) but PP does not even show them as a "supported file type"
    If I drag and drop from the finder I get "unsupported file type" error
    My understanding is that CR2 files are supported in CS5.5
    Any ideas
    MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.2 (Lion)
    For the rest, everything seems to be "normal"
    Thanks in Advance
    Tom

    To use Camera RAW, you will need to process the files through a Camera RAW converter. With the proper ACR module, PS, and Lightroom will handle that processing, as will the Canon utility. With Adobe ACR, make sure to update to a version that handles YOUR camera's RAW files - mfgrs. tweak those model to model, so keeping the ACR module current will insure that you can handle the particular Camera RAW files properly.
    I agree with Stephen's rec. to NOT use JPEG, if ultimate quality is of a concern. In PS, I just process my Nikon, Panny or Canon Camera RAW files to PSD. I would assume that the Canon utility would have the option for TIFF, as my older one does - there is no option for PSD in it. Do not know about the newer Canon Camer RAW processing, but TIFF should be just fine.
    Good luck,

  • JDI: Cannot EDIT a java source file in a loaded, inactive DC

    I have finished JDI Scenario 2+.  I have since built a new workspace and imported my Development Configuration.  I would now like to edit the java code and do a re-deployment.
    Problem: I cannot Edit the file; it is read-only.  I was able to edit the file from a different workspace yesterday, at which time when I typed in the editor I was prompted to create and activity and I did.  I did NOT mark it for exclusive check-out.
    Since then I have done a REVERT on that activity,but I still cannot edit this file in my second new wrokspace.  In the context menus, in the DTR sub-menu, the EDIT selections are always grayed-out.
    So, can someone advise how I can get the EDIT selections to be not grayed-out so that I can edit this file in the Java editor?
    Thanks,
    Mike R.

    Hi Mike,
    You are right, and the instructions are wrong: the "Create Project" must be done from the "Inactive DCs" view (for the sources to be editable).
    The "Active DCs" view will give you sources from the "active" workspace (containing all "activated" sources), which is read-only. For DCs you work on (and modify), you should sync sources from the "Inactive DCs" view, and for DCs you depend on you should sync archives/sources from the "Active DCs" view.
    I have requested for a correction of this error in our documentation.
    Regards,
    Manohar
    PS: There is now a dedicated SDN forum for JDI (under WebAS) - so you can post your questions there in future.

  • Can't see CR2 files in Photoshop CS5

    How do I get Canon SX50 HS CR2 files to appear in Photoshop CS5?

    Hi. Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I'm moving your question to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.

  • PS CS5 w/ ACR 6.7 cannot read Canon 7D CR2 files

    Hello,
    I recently upgraded from a Canon 50D to a Canon 7D.  On my iMac I am running PS CS5 Extended 12.0.4 and have updated to camera raw 6.7.0.339.  Unfortunately, PS is not reading the CR2 files from the Canon 7D; "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw".  From what I have read, Canon 7D support was added to ARC 5.4 and, by default, is a part of ACR 6.7.  All the similar posts list the solution as updating ACR to latest version which I have done. Ultimately, I would like to avoid converting the CR2 files to Adobe DNG.  I can confirm that the CR2 files in question are complete and are not corrupted as I can view them with both Windows and Mac photo previewers.
    Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

    Your new camera is a canon 7D or canon 70D?

  • "Plug-ins not currently available" keeps popping up.  Cannot edit old or new files.

    I just downloaded Illustrator CC a few days ago off of the creative cloud for my Mac OS X.  I was able to work on projects and everything just fine.  Today I tried opening the projects I had been working on, but what came up on all the files when I tried opening them was a window saying “The document ‘name of document.ai’ contains elements that are managed by plug-ins that are not currently available.  You can delete or expand these elements but you cannot manipulate them in other ways.  The miss plug-ins are listed below.”  and there would be different plug-ins listed depending on what project it was.  It would not let me edit anything on the AI files.
    I tried restarting my computer but than for a while was not able to open AI at all and a window “Missing Required Plug-ins:  PDF Format.aip” popped up and shut AI down every time.  I looked up some troubleshooting online and found some advice for putting foreign plug-ins in a separate file and restarting AI holding “command, option, shift”.  I did that and was able to open AI again, but the same problem and window as the first time came up.
    I tried starting a new file, but the same message would pop up with and it called my new file “print.ai” even though I clearly didn’t make and name a file yet.  I even tried creating a new file from template and using a stock template like “CD cover”… it opened up and I could move the shapes around, but still no creative tool bar.  I can’t even get into AI preferences.  Any help troubleshoot would be much appreciated.

    Hi Sam_I_Am,
    The missing required plugin pdfformat.aip issue was there in some user machine on 17.1 update and the solution available unfortunately is to uninstall Ai and reinstall.
    On what version of Ai are you facing this issue.
    Sanjay.

  • Cannot edit properties after overwriting file in a document library

    I am (programmatically) overwriting a file in a document library after which none of the metadata fields can be edited either programmatically or manually:
    Edit Properties -> change something -> Save
    There is no error, just none of the metadata fields will actually update. To overwrite the file, I am using copy.asmx webservice. I get the same result when overwriting via REST, or just doing a plain http PUT. I also tried list.asmx webservice to update metadata.
    As long as I don't overwrite a file, everything works great.
    This is Sharepoint 2010. Versioning is off, checkout is not required. "Overwriting" means there is an existing file, previously uploaded manually or with copyservice and the new file has the same name.
    Has anybody seen this behavior? (or managed to get a sharepoint document library file into a similar state).
    Thanks, RL

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that after uploading file using the Copy.asmx web service, you could not edit the properties.
    I had used the following code to upload the file, after that to edit the properties, it worked without any issue.
    static void Main(string[] args)
    Copy copy = new Copy();
    copy.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("UserName","Password","Domain");
    copy.Url = "http://sp/_vti_bin/copy.asmx";
    string filePath = @"C:\Test\Edite2.txt";
    string[] destURL = { @"http://sp/LIbA/Edite2.txt" };
    FileStream fs = new FileStream(filePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read);
    byte[] contents = new byte [fs.Length];
    fs.Read(contents,0,Convert.ToInt32(fs.Length));
    fs.Close();
    FieldInformation fileFieldInfo = new FieldInformation();
    fileFieldInfo.DisplayName = "Edite2";
    fileFieldInfo.Value = "Edite2";
    fileFieldInfo.InternalName = "Edite2";
    fileFieldInfo.Type = sp.FieldType.Text;
    FieldInformation[] fileFieldInfoArray = { fileFieldInfo };
    CopyResult copyResult1 = new CopyResult();
    CopyResult copyResult2 = new CopyResult();
    CopyResult[] copyResultArray = { copyResult1,copyResult2};
    uint resultCopy = copy.CopyIntoItems(filePath,destURL,fileFieldInfoArray,contents,out copyResultArray);
    Console.WriteLine("Upload Successful...");
    Console.ReadKey();
    You can check with the above code, then check whether it works.
    Did the issue occur in other libraries?
    You can create new library to check whether it works, maybe the library had been corrupted.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jason

  • Can't see CR2 files in Adobe Bridge CS6

    I have recently purchased Canon 5D Mark iii and have taken a few shots in RAW mode. When I try to open the file in Adobe Bridge CS6, I can't view the file.
    I also have a canon T2i and the raw file from that camera show perfectly fine.
    What could be the problem? All my CS6 software is up to date.

    Updated to ACR 8.4? There is an issue:
    The fix is to download a 8.4 again via the link below and follow the instructions to replace the existing 8.4 plugin:

  • Problem saving files as JPEGs after editing them as CR2 files

    I took some photos in RAW format and used Photoshop CS2 to make my lighting adjustments (in the Photoshop RAW viewer). For most photos, I just clicked the "Save" button, and I had the option to convert and save the file as JPEG, TIFF, etc. But I had some additional changes to make in Photoshop using layers, so I clicked "Open" first before saving, and worked in the general Photoshop window. But after making my changes, I clicked "Save as" and the long list of file options to choose from was no longer there, and I only had the option of saving the file as: Photoshop, Cineon, Large Document Format, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop Raw, PNG, TIFF. I really need to save it as a JPEG, but it is not one of the options. I have flattened all the layers, and am working in RGB color mode.
    If anyone could help me understand why I can't save this as a JPEG, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

    Convert the files from 16 bit to 8 bit and you be able to save your jpeg.

    Maybe tell us a little more about your computer.
    1. The make/model (looks like some sort of dell)
    2. Your kernel command line:
    cat /proc/cmdline
    3. The video card(s) and drivers:
    lspci -k | grep -A2 VGA
    4. Your backlight interfaces and their values:
    for i in /sys/class/backlight/*; do echo $i; cat $i/{brightness,max_brightness,actual_brightness}; done

  • Canon CR2 files in Photoshop CS4

    Hi Everyone,
    I need a bit of help.  I have a G5 Dual 2.7 Power PC.
    I also have photoshop CS4.  I cannot see Canon files from a Canon 5D Mark 2 camera
    in photoshop unless I convert them to DNGs.  I have an older computer, same type but its
    not water cooled and I can see CR2 files in photoshop there.  I had to kill photoshop on that
    computer to put it on this one.  Ive tried to find the update to correct this but I keep getting an
    alert saying I need some kind of  Manager first.  When I download that I get an alert saying the
    architecture doesnt support it.  So Im back to ground zero.  I can do the DNG conversions but
    Im just wondering why it works on an older computer but not this one.  Does anyone have an
    idea of what I am doing wrong?  Or does anyone have the link to the correction.
    thanks
    tony

    Yes, absolutely all of the quality and dynamic range is retained in the DNG, because it is still raw data.
    Outside of upgrading to Photoshop CS5, which can open your files directly with Camera Raw 6.4.1, your only choice is the extra step of converting the .CR2 files to .DNG with the free DNG converter.
    While you'll get all the quality your Camera Raw 5.x converter can deliver, you should keep in mind the Camera Raw 6.x converter has an entirely new, additional "2010 process" for converting raw images, which (depending on your settings) can actually deliver a higher quality conversion than the one you're getting with Photoshop CS4.  I think it's worth the cost of the Photoshop upgrade, personally.

  • Camera Raw .CR2 file download failure from new Canon650D

    I have the new model Canon650D and cannot download Camera Raw CR2 files into Photoshop Elements 10. I get a "program error" message on screen. I have tried converting to DNG files but get same error message. I have downloaded latest upgrades for Camera Raw plug-ins in Adobe Application Manager and evidently have the latest 6.7 version available. Is there a later upgrade or do I have to wait until Adobe catch up?

    You have two alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software) Try a differnt download (7.3 the latest) if DNG did not work before.
    Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
    Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
    You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:
