Cannot edit or view other than thumbnail in Iphoto 08

Just bought a MacBook Air and started moving all my pics from my pc. I imported everything into Iphoto, but when I go to edit or double click to view a larger photo size, the screen goes black (or nothing happens). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A "genius" at an Apple store told me to delete the photos from my documents folder and trash them and I would still be able to keep them in iPhoto. Now I cannot use the photos other than in the iPhoto file. Can this be undone?

How can I retreive deleted iPhotos which were deleted from the documents and trash files? I stupidly did this because a "genius" from Apple Store assured me that I would still have access to the photos.

Check iPhoto's Advanced preference pane to see if it's set to a referenced or managed library;
If it's set to a referenced library you photos are gone.
If that's the case they might be able to be recovered with a file recovery app like SubrosaSoft FileSalvage. It will run in demo mode so you can see if it can recover your photos before having to purchase it. Use the iMac as little as possible till them so as not to overwrite them.
If it's set to a managed library launch iPhoto with the Option+Command keys held down and rebuild the library's databse file.

Can I change the view of videos from thumbnails to details or something other than thumbnails?

I loaded a couple of tv series and movies into my ipad air 2 and when I click on the videos app they all appear as thumbnails. I was wondering if someone could help me change the view to maybe details or something other than thumbnails just so I can view what tv series I have. I couldn't find any option any where on the screen or in settings on changing the view. Please help

Ok nevermind I managed to sort it out.. had to change the type of video and sort the shows with their seasons. pretty long process.

How to get iTunes to show views other than list--no grid or cover flows

I posted earlier but no one offered any suggestions. I'll try very directly this time. With iTunes 8.1 installed, I can obtain no other view than LIST. I can't get GRID or COVER FLOW. Any suggestions from Mac gurus far smarter about these things than me?

Apparently, the only problem is in the view options. I don't routinely purchase music, I merely copy my own or friends' CDs into iTune. So, I can't verify there is any problem area there. But, the ability to view in anything other than list is driving me crazy. I grew accustomed to that cover flow view before this latest update, so I miss its availability. My concern is that this must be the indication of a deeper problem with iTunes or my video drivers or other related problems I've had over the last two months with the iPhoto, documented elsewhere in these discussion forums.

Cannot preview or print other than single photo, want mult preview/print

i download from nikon d90, see photos in organizer, can edit, share but cannot print multiple prints, 4x3.5 or 4x4x5 or preview them which i can do with single prints of any size. this is new problem in last 3 weeks, was working great prior to this. i have uninstalled and reinstalled pse7 twice. i use page layout 8.5x11, package to select what i want to print and get hour glass in preview window and border or preview window. what can i do to fix this?

There might be some problem with the files. Try updating the thumbnail of the files by Edit->Updated thumbnail.

Cannot edit folder properties more than once???

If I edit a folder property so that the links opens in the same folder area, it gives me the following error if I try to edit the properties again.
An Unhandled Exception has occurred. ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error
And for the same folder I get the following error if I click to preview it while editing.
Error: Call to utl_http failed (WWS-32136)
ORA-1: User-Defined Exception (WWC-36000)
If anyone has a workaround for these errors, it will be appreciated.

I just checked it works fine for me. I used this page actually. Have you checked to see if it is just the particular website that you were looking at? It could be an isolated incident.
You could also try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.

Cannot edit tracks in other user account.

I moved some MP3's over to my other user account and iTunes will not let me rename them. I made sure that the permissions where changed to allow this. The only thing I can find thats different is under the file info, the "locked" check box is grayed out. Its not checked, its just grayed out. Any ideas?
Also, I do not believe they are DRM protected as I AM able to edit them in my current user account.

Using Apple-I on the mp3 I have the following permissions at the bottom:
admin read & write
name of 2nd account read & write
current account (primary) read & write
staff read & write
everyone read & write

Oh. The "other user" is not where I downloaded the files if thats what you mean. I downloaded them on my primary account and then moved them over to the secondary account.

Cannot access gradient tools other than the default option.

I am using photoshop CS6 extended. I cannot access the alternative gradient tools and am wondering if the plug-in failed to download or if I have somehow disabled them in the preferences.

Select the gradient tool, then click on the gradient chip at the top left of the screen to open the Gradient Editor, or click on the little arrow next to the same gradient color chip to access a palette other gradients. To make a new gradient, etc., click the tiny icon in the upper right of that palette to get a drop-down menu.

Cannot edit or view site in iWeb.

When I open iWeb, nothing opens. The icon appears in the dock, but nothing opens. Any ideas? Most of the menu options are also unavailable.

Open iPhoto, select a couple of photos and use the Share ➙ iWeb ➙ Photo Page menu option. You may have to do it a couple of times.

My iMac OS X, v 10.5.8 cannot access gmail in other than Basic mode with ANY version of Firefox. Is there a fix?

Query using WSDL 2.0 cannot fetch the fields other than type string

Viewing images in thumbnail - not iPhoto

I have a lot of images stored on my mac that I just want to scan through - ideally having something like the Thumbnail viewer like Microsoft Windows. I only use iPhoto for my own photography and don't want to import because the program seems to create multiple copies and files all over the place for some unnecessary reason.
I can't believe this thing doesn't have simple viewer?
iPhoto is too bloated for just scanning through archive stuff. Do something about it apple!!!

Selecting the folder with the pictures in it and enabling icon view doesn't do it? Works for me-thumbnail are the right size and you can scan several at a time.

App for presenting Photographic Portfolios - (other than built in iPhoto)

Hello all !
I've been asked to investigate getting our Photographers Portfolios onto a couple of iPads we've bought.
I have been using the iPad for some weeks and yes the built in Photo app works ... But we're wondering if there's any "funky" apps out there to show off our pics instead of just drag and expand and drag next one and turn on slide show etc etc ...
Maybe like a "light table" with pics all over, not necessarily all squared up, but like moveable and rotatable (if thats a word) ... just something "different" ...

Mitch - The App Photo-Sort will definitely help - lets you put together presentations made of of selected images from multiple folders. It also has it's own slideshow feature which gets around several of iPad's limitations including: better slideshow timing control, eliminates annoying transitions, includes arrow keys so you can "tap" from slide to slide.
Another very important App for any of your company's Windows users is a free program called ExifDateChanger. As you probably already know, iPad re-sorts all images by date - no option to avoid. There's a manual workaround in iPhoto for Mac, but Windows users are required to alter image dates to control the display order of their photos.
Written by a frustrated iPad user in Swtzerland, ExifDateChanger is a "pre-processor" for synced images which alters their dates so they will always display in filename sequence. You can download ExifDateChanger at this link: http://www.tiltsoft.com/ipad.html

Is there a way to view the iCal 'notes' field other than opening each event individually?

I use the 'notes' field in iCal but it is not visible in any view other than opening each event individually. Is there any way to make this field visible in the Day or Week view?

Thanks, this is definitely better than clicking events one by one. I just don't understand why Apple doesn't display it in the events in the day or week view the same way they show the Location field. Interestingly, on the iPad "Day" view, the Notes field is diplayed in the panels on the left side of the screen (although not on the right side).

Cannot get Toolbar with FF4 other than by pressing Alt button, have tried all methods suggested, also cannot get it to open in Safe Mode.

Since downloading FF4 to replace 3.1.6 I cannot get the Toolbar other than by pressing the Alt button and whilst this shows the toolbar it will not stay. I have followed the Firefox instructions, other than opening in Safe Mode which it will not do either ,none of which have cured the problem. I am using Vista, with Trend Anti Virus and also have IE8 which is working OK.
