Cannot edit or view site in iWeb.

When I open iWeb, nothing opens. The icon appears in the dock, but nothing opens. Any ideas? Most of the menu options are also unavailable.

Open iPhoto, select a couple of photos and use the Share ➙ iWeb ➙ Photo Page menu option. You may have to do it a couple of times.

Cannot create new pages/sites in iWeb '08

I know this has been brought up so many times before. I read ALL of the posts.
I am unable to create any new pages or sites in iWeb'08. The plus sign is greyed out and command-N does nothing.
Here's what I've done:
Deleted all files associated with iWeb and re-installed from the original DVD.
Tried using the iWeb icon in iPhoto and iMovie (total of 20 times each). Nothing happens. The photos do not show up in iPhoto and I still can't do anything.
Can anyone please suggest something else to try. I have an existing website that I prefer to use iWeb for, but I cannot update it until I can use iWeb.
I can't believe Apple would release something this bad.

When you get it, quit iWeb, put it into Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and double click it to see if iWeb will launch and let you build a site.

Cannot edit or view other than thumbnail in Iphoto 08

Just bought a MacBook Air and started moving all my pics from my pc. I imported everything into Iphoto, but when I go to edit or double click to view a larger photo size, the screen goes black (or nothing happens). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot download SVG Viewer - site seems down

It anyone able to download the free Adobe SVG viewer? If so, please submit the "secret" link because the obvious one appears down.

We still need it to use a graphic mapping program used on our intranet.
At the time I wrote my issue on the board, you would click the link and it took you to a dead page. Today, it takes you to information/educational stuff about using SVG - but no longer a way to download the viewer.

I can no longer EDIT nor VIEW events created in iCal...

I have a problem with my iCal in that I can longer edit nor view events.
I can create events, but only the first line of the details for a new event. I am not able to edit or add more info in any way after that (date, time, details, etc.)
I can delete the event though.
When I say I cannot edit nor view events, this problem occurs when double-clicking, when right/CMD-clicking, choosing the relevant command from the menu, or when typing the keyboard shortcut of either CMD-i or CMD-e.
Nothing works. Nothing happens. It's as if I have chosen to do nothing at all.
I have an iPhone which I use to sync events between my Mac and my iPhone, but without being able to properly create an event on my Mac with a chosen time and alarm, etc. iCal on my Mac is almost useless. All my events now have to be created on my iPhone - even when I am sitting right in front of my Mac.
The only use my Mac's iCal is to me now is for pop-up reminders after an event from my iPhone has been synced to my Mac.
The problem I am having with iCal is happening with all the calendars I have set up.
I have no online subscriptions, everything's local.
I have my iPhone set to auto-sync with my Mac for all data.
I am running the latest versions of iCal, the Mac OS (Leopard), the latest iPhone OS, etc.
I tried deleting all my iCal preferences from the ~username/Library/Preferences, but that didn't work.
I tried deleting all my calendars from within iCal in case there was a corrupt calendar, but that didn't work.
I trashed everything I could find that had anything to do with iCal (knowing I could restore from a recent Time-Machine backup), but still nothing worked.
Even when I had an empty iCal to work with, creating a test new-event revealed the same problems of not being able to edit the event after the first line.
I have since restored all my data from the backup I did the other day, so I am back to square one - not that anything I tried before this actually moved me off square one in any way...
Can anyone help me here? It's getting really frustrating having to type all my events out on the iPhone screen, especially when I'm sitting at my computer.

Similar problem here. My Ical refuses to edit or delete events. Viewing is possible, though sometimes the whole screen turns grey. Adding new events from mail is still possible. The task-pane completely disappeared. My local apple technic-centre messed about with disk utility for a bit and than told me to reinstall leopard. I could of course do that, but it seems to me that reinstalling Leopard just to fix iCal events is a bit invasive.
I tried also tried removing everything, installing a new copy of iCal from the leopard-cd, software updates, all to no avail.
At the moment I'm open to all suggestions that do not include a complete leopard reinstall.

Cannot Edit Links in IWeb

Wanted to edit the links on an IWeb site. I have de-selected the Make Hyperlinks Active box, but cannot then select the LInks (e.g, double clicking on link does not highlight it) to make font changes, etc.

I started creating my site on a PB 15", but when I'm home I like the speed of my iMac and I'd like to continue the editing process on my iMac but I can't find the files that iWeb saves.
I'd ideally like to save my site on my 30gig iPod using it as a hard drive between both. I would love for this to happen but I can't find the files saved by iWeb. Is this even possible?
I've even tried linking my PB to my iMac via firewire as a hard drive. No Luck.
Please Help . . .

I think iWeb only recognizes the 'domain.sites' file so while you can set up more than one site, they are in the same project.
Of course, the workround is to move the domain.sites file out of the default location, which them makes iWeb create a new one. You can then work on any number of projects, only moving the correct file into the default location for work on each one. Not elegant by any means, but until someone suggests a better way (or Apple produce a more flexible version of the software) it works fine that way.

Business Data List View ONLY Displays records - Cannot Edit them

Using SharePoint 2010, I created an External Content Type. Data is coming from SQL Server. I created a new Read operation on my External Content type. I added a few filters in this Read View.
I have created a web part page in which I placed a Business Data List Web Part. In Web Part properties I chose the VIEW in question. I can now filter my External List data and the Business Data List Web Part displays them. But I cannot edit these
records!!!
From the web Part properties window, I can ONLY choose Views that are created from READ operations. How do I allow users to edit data and save data in the original source (SQL Server).

What's your OS? Acrobat 8 is not compatible with any modern OS.

How to prevent editing a SharePoint site column value from document properties view of a downloaded document?

Hi,
We have created a SharePoint site column with below settings
1. ShowInEditForm - False
2. ShowInNewForm - False
3. ShowInDisplayForm - True
With the above definition, the site column showing only in view properties form not in New and Edit forms. This column is added to a document library and updating this column value will be managed by event receiver code when a document is uploaded.
Till this point, everything is working OK.
But the issue is when we download and open a document from the above document library, under document properties the above column (with value) is visible along with other document default properties and this column value is editable. With this issue,
user is able to set a new value and overwrite the existing value by re-uploading the document.
Could you please let me know how to handle this issue so that user should not be allowed to edit except viewing the value/property (read only)?

You can set "ShowInFileDlg" property of field to "FALSE". Using this you will not see that field in document properties list

Cannot edit (or even view) some photos...

Recently I got a new Olympus FE-190 6 megapixel camera. (My previous camera was a 4 MP). The first roll that I imported into iPhoto (version 6.0.6) worked fine until I try to edit or view a larger image. The thumbnails appear, but when I click to edit a photo from my new camera, a grey screen appears where a larger photo should be with an exclamation mark surrounded by a dotted-line square. It only does this for the 6 MP photos, which are 2816 x 2112 pixels. Also, these photos are the only ones I cannot put into a slideshow in iDVD. Any suggestions would be of much help.

It has a few different ideas to solve the problem. All I had to do was select the thumbnail, go to photos in menu bar, select revert to original! Problem solved.

hi prob a real noob question but i published my site with iweb and decided i wanted to change the theme and when i published my new site it created a new site thats not my homepage, my homepage is still the original theme, when i view my site from option box after publish it shows new site but its not my home adderess in my URL box its basiclly myhomepage/myhomepage/home.html when i go to www myhomepage com it shows my old site.... any help would be the greatest before i clean out the FTP and load fresh, its pretty big... that seems like the long way tho... thanks!

okay after a little more poking around and research i found that ( i think ) this happened due to me transfering my site to local folder then uploading using iweb SEO, when you publish a entire sight with iweb it creates a new folder in you root that is named after the sight name you added when setting up ftp.
   So i now have my site loaded in to my filemanager twice, if i make changes in iweb and "publish changes" it changes the "second" site which nobody see's because its not my real homepage URL ,like i said nobody looks at this except me when i click "visit my site" after publish and it takes me to my revised webpage. Which fooled me untill i went to my site via bookmarks.

in effect iv'e lost the ability to publish just my changes in iweb, i now have to publish entire site to local folder and upload entire site via iweb SEO (which must be done anyways to add/keep meta's and titles but i haven't assingened them yet) this overrights my real website, but is ALOT more time consuming everytime i want to make some small changes, HOW DO I FIX THIS???/

Cannot edit source after selecting View | Source (Cntl-U)

After installing Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13, I cannot edit source text when I select "View" | "Source" (Cntl-U).
I can see the source, but I can't modify it. I believe I used to be able to do this on my prior Firefox release (can't remember exactly what the release number was, but it wasn't more than a couple years old.)

The built in option is a source viewer, not an editor. You can change this to use an external application.
You can do this by changing 2 hidden preferences.
# Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# In the filter box type view_source
# Double-click on '''view_source.editor.external''' to change its value to true

Editing a web site using windows that was made with iweb using a MAC

I published my web site using iweb with my MBP, but at times would like to edit it when I'm running windows. Anyone know how to do it?

You can't. To edit a site created by iweb, you must be using a mac with iweb installed and also with the Domain file installed that was used to create the site.

Of course you can mess with the html and other files created by iWeb with any app you please, but any changes will be overwritten if you republish from iWeb later.
