Cannot edit photos in standard IPad photo app

I have a 1st generation IPad.  I recently lost the capability to edit photos through the iPad photo standard supplied app.  I was able to edit photos back in May but it no longer works since I installed the iOS 5.1.1.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks Tom.  I took a look at iPhoto but unfortunately it says it is for Ipad2 and up.  So that app will not help.  I took a look at snapseed and that looks like it will also work.  I will also check in at an Apple Stor also.  Does any one else have any other suggestions?

  • Cannot open Photos app on iPhone 4S.

It worked fine while taking photos for most of the day, but then after taking a photo I got the spining wheel and it stalled then went to my home screen. I cannot access any of the 216 photos I took through Camera Roll or Photos app. I even tried connecting it to my laptop and removing the pics that way, but the DCIM folder is empty. It's size is 0 bytes. I have restarted the iPhone several times hoping that would help, but each time I attempt to open the Photos app it shows the screen for just a second and lists the Camera Roll (216) photos and then goes back to the home screen. Any advice would be appreciated. I would like to NOT lose the photos.
    Thanks.

Try resetting it: hold on/off and home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple logo (ignore the red off slider that appears first), release and wait for the phone to restart.

  • Cannot edit photos

I uploaded about 200 pictures off of my digital camera last night, and iPhoto will only allow me to view about half of them (the first half) in edit mode. I can see the others in the main Library viewing screen, but when I "double click" on one of those pictures, I get a square of dashed lines with an exclamation mark in the middle. When I double click on any of the first half, the picture opens in edit mode and allows me to edit.
Please help! All of the photos I can't access are from my little brother's wedding!
BTW- I have a Sony DSC-F717 5Mp camera. Most of the images are about 1.5-2.0 Mb in size. I've had the camera for about 4 years, and have never had trouble editing photos, but I am new to iPhoto.
MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

When you uploaded from your camera you named the roll April-June, then imported the photos. Is that right?
There would be no way, then, to have created a "Wedding" subfolder inside the April-June folder by using iPhoto. iPhoto does not create subfolders inside the roll folders. Someone had to have created that subfolder by going into the iPhoto Library folder (via Finder or another application other than iPhoto). If I am correct, then this is surely the cause of iPhoto not knowing where those photos are located, and it is these photos which you cannot view from iPhoto.
You can try to reverse the damage in the same way that it was created. (This is an instance where 2 wrongs can make a right.) Move that "Wedding" subfolder out of the iPhoto Library folder and to your Desktop. Open a few photos in Preview to double-check that they are the original, full-sized photos. Then launch iPhoto, locate the thumbnails for those photos, drag to iPhoto trash, iPhoto > Empty Trash. Once you have removed them from your library, you can import the Wedding folder from your Desktop.
If that seems to work, then check that all of your photos can be viewed at full-size and opened in Edit mode. If all is well, it would be a good idea to let iPhoto rebuild the database (to iron out any wrinkles caused by the tampering). Hold Option and Command while launching iPhoto. Check all 4 options in the dialog box, and Rebuild. If the library functions properly after the rebuild, you can be fairly certain that you won't suffer any additional damage from this mistake. And stay out of the iPhoto Library folder from now on.
If my initial assumption is wrong or this fails to work at any point, please post back with more details.

  • Cannot open Photos app after today's upgrade

    Hello
I upgraded the Yosemite OS today to the new version with Photos
All seemed to be ok except for Photos which is not opening as every time i try to open it the system tells me: an error occurred please restart application
All info is still in the iPhoto app but i never managed to actually start the migration process due to this blocking error
I tried restarting and turning the Mac Off but to no avail
I am using a MacBook Pro of 2012
I cannot remove Photos to reinstall it as this is embedded in the Yosemite OS so any idea is more than welcome
Have a nice day and thanks for the help on this
    Dimitri Dupont

Additional info - all still works on Iphoto so nothing is "lost". It is just that i never get further than the startup screen and when clicking on the blue "start" button the error message appears

Create an album and drag them into the album. Then you can easily select all of them in the album and email.

  • Cannot edit photo in iBook

After placing a photo on an ibook page, I try to edit it. I highlight the picture & click on options. When I click on "edit photo" it goes to that menu, but the photo does not appear. Just black. Any ideas on why that may be? I've already made a book successfully by following those steps, so I'm lost on this one. Thanks.

  • I cannot view march 13 (month view) in the standard ipad calendar app.

    Anyone else experiencing this glitch?

I googled this query and found that the is a glitch for 1 Apr 13. If this date has any 'all day' events it prevents displaying march 13 in month view.
I amended all my appointments to 20 hour periods to cover the whole day and this alleviated my problem.

  • Cannot edit Numbers cells on iPad

I have an iMac, iPhone, and iPad. All are up to date for systems and apps. I believe since updating to Mavericks, my iPad is having an issue editing cells in Numbers. I share a spreadsheet on the Cloud among all three pieces of hardware. On the iPad, when I want to enter new data/text/time in a cell, the cursor shows up but typing in textj/data does not appear. For cells that have an entry, I cannot use the editing functions. All works OK on the iMac and iPhone.

Doh.  You're right.  Guess I was expecting the App Store or the update process to have not let the upgrade start if the prerequisites weren't met.
    Thanks.
Now I have to decide if the upgrade is worth the risk of having the battery life issue that others have complained about with iOS 4.3.3.

  • HT1848 Cannot transfer old podcasts from ipad podcast app to itunes.

I have a number of old podcasts downloaded on my ipad that aren't available from the server anymore.  How do I transfer them to itunes so I can then transfer them again to my ipod nano?
I have tried syncing podcasts through itunes, but it only displays the podcasts in itunes, not the ones on the ipad.
I have tried doing a transfer purchases from ipad, but this seems to transfer everything BUT the podcasts.
There isn't a button on the ipad app itself to do this, except the one that sends a text message with a no longer valid web url.
Anything else that I haven't tried yet?

    In Windows
    In 11.0.1
Click the icon at top left of iTunes
    Click "Show menu bar"
    or
Hold down ctrl key and press the B key  i.e Ctrl/B
    After that - Go to
    File/Devices/Transfer purchases...

    Hi Anjohi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you've edited photos on your iPad and only see the original version when you import them to your computer, the tips in this article may help:

  • Very disappointing why do I need a camera on my iPad to manage edit photos in new iPhoto app?

Very disappointing why do I need a camera on my iPad to manage edit photos in new iPhoto app?

That's just a visual differentiator so folks can easily tell if it will run on their machine. The difference is the RAM and processor in the iPad 2 and iPad (New). The camera has nothing to do with the physical requirements.

  • Printing edited photos on my ipad and iphone camera roll using HP eprint app

I edited and saved photos on my ipad and iphone camera roll. When I use the HP eprint app to print the photos to my HP 5514 Photosmart printer, the edited photo that I select does not show up in the preview, (the original shows up not the saved edited version). I am stumped because in the photo book and on the camera roll the edited version is the only one visible. I don't know what the problem may be. Why is it reverting to the original?

    Hi jdanrok,
I did some testing on my iPad and found that after you edit a pic in photos and save it, it will only show the edited version. However, if you go to edit the "edited" photo, you can "Revert to Original", which means it is not really saving the "edited" version, it just "remembers" what you have changed.
When you go into the HP ePrint app, it is only seeing the original, and not the "edited" version.
If you are printing over local wifi (using Airprint) you can actually print the "edited" photo directly from the Photos App by touching the arrow towards the top of the screen and choosing Print.
If you are wanting to use the ePrint app, and you are not on your local wifi (through ePrint), you can email the "edited" photo, save the "edited" photo from the email and it will be just the "edited" version. The old psuedo "edited" version will still be there also.
If I have helped in any way, just click the Kudos star on the left. Also, if your issue has been resolved, don't forget to select Accept as Solution

  • Transfer edited photos from iPhoto app on my iPad back to the iMac

    Dear all,
I've edited some photos on my ipad using the iPhoto app and I would like to have them transferred back to my iMac.  Can anyone please show me the required steps?  Thanks.
Note: I've tried plugging in my ipad to my iMac and opened iPhoto on my iMac but it seemd like I could only transfer non-edited photos from the iPad.
    Million Thanks,
    TMK

Turn on PhotoStream on your iPad and in iPhoto on your Mac. They will sync to your Mac.
    iPad - Settings > iCloud > photoStream = on.
    Mac > iPhoto > preferences > PhotoStream > enable
