Cannot enable wifi

iphone 4s with ios6 cannot enable slider to turn wireless on/
already reset network settings, turned of/on airplane settings and resarted phone.

It may not enable. The only sure soltion is that Apple fixes its corrupt software. Apple however deny that this proble exists, so they may never fix it.
I have the same problem.

  • Cannot enable wifi on droid incredible

i just got my droid incredible today.
i have not been able to get my Wifi enabled.  I go to Wi-Fi settings then click on Wi-Fi to turn it on and then it just says "error" after about 5 seconds.  There are about 10 Wifi networks within range of me so I know thats not the problem.
    any suggestions?

Once you turn it on you need to click on the option below, WiFi settings and choose an open network. If they are secured, you will need to enter the security key to log in.

  • HT4623 Cannot enable wifi or Bluetooth on an iPhone 5

I have a iPhone 5c and both the wifi and Bluetooth will not enable.  The slider buttons stay grey in the off position.  The phone was issued to me with OS 7.0.1.  It was recommended that I upgrade the software to 7.0.3.  Unfortunately without wifi that is not possible .  I tried installing via iTunes but the install crashes.

    Hi Roadrunner558,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps to try if Wi-Fi is grayed out and unable to be turned on:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim

With regards to the issues updating via iTunes and if the above does not work, I would recommend following this article to get the iPhone restored and updated:

  • TS1398 cannot enable wifi on my itouch

the last time i updated the software on both of my Itouchs, the wifi function stopped working. i have tried everything i can to get it to work. have others experienced this?

Ok, after I did 'Reset all network settings' and then rejoined my home network, that fixed the problem.
Illaass, my issue didn't have any settings grayed out.  Everything 'seemed' to be connected, I even had the wifi logo in the status bar and the network settings, as well as my router, indicated I had an IP address.  It just wouldn't connect.
I'm fine now so I would suggest to kajunklr to do the 'reset all network' settings path.

  • Satellite C55-A-199 with Win 7 64bit - cannot enable WiFi

    Hi,
I have some problem with the wifi in my Toshiba Satellite C55-A-199.
I have downloaded and installed every drivers that I could find on the [website|http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp] but I am still not able to turn off the wifi by pressing fn+f12.
When I press fn+f12 the bluetooth can be switch on/off but the wifi symbol doesn't appear on the screen, and the red led at the front keeps lighting.
I don't know what could be the problem, but I hope I'll get some help here.
    Thanks,
    Piri

    Hi everybody,
_Thanks a lot Randy, doing what you said helped me solved the issue_ with my newly Satellite C55-A-1P2, but unfortunately I have discovered an even bigger issue.
I think this thread is probably not the right place to say my problem but I haven't found to much info regarding the issue. :(
If I'm allowed here this is what I'm encountering with the Wi-Fi adapter:
My Wi-Fi adapter (Qualcomm Atheros AR956x I think this is the one) is frequently disconnecting, stays disconnected for a minute or so and after that is reconnecting. For me that is a very big issue as I'm a heavily Wi-Fi user. I do have the latest driver installed from Toshiba site and using windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.
If anybody has any idea on how to solve this issue or if it's even solvable(if this is the case I need to return the laptop) or redirect me to another post related to Wi-Fi disconnections I will be forever grateful.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Airport Extreme- PC users cannot connect to security enabled Wifi

I have an Airport Express and have setup a security enabled Wifi network.  It works perfectly for me, but my PC user roomates cannot access it.  I don't know much about the difference between WPA and other settings, so maybe I need to change the security.  Please help. Thanks!

    DrVenture:
Thank you. Yes, this did indeed work. The MacBook now connects just fine. I had one moment of panic when the Vista laptop referred to it as a "security key" rather than a passphrase / password, but I tried it anyway and that worked just fine too. So I'm happy again.
Any idea why WEP doesn't work this time?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi samer almasri,
If you are having issues with enabling Wifi on your iPhone you may want to try a couple of things to troubleshoot. First of all I would quit all open applications on the phone and try again. See this previous thread for how -
How do I close apps on my iPhone with iOS 7?
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5581063
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

  • Portege Z930: Loss of Fn keys after Win 8 upgrade - cannot turn WiFi on/off

After many months biding my time I have just embarked upon upgrading my Portege Z930-11G to Windows 8 Pro.
Largely this has gone to plan with the exception that after running the Toshiba Upgrade Assistant I've lost the Fn key display and about half the keys no longer seem to function at all.
The only key I ever used routinely is the Fn+F8 option to turn WiFi on/off.
So now I cannot enable the WiFi on the machine.
There must, surely, be a mean to do this but I can't find it. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm OK for now as I have a wired LAN in the house but once I get out on the road I'm going to struggle without WiFi.
Before running the upgrade assistant the Fn key brought the key display up across the top of the screen and I surely wish I'd turned WiFi on at that point.
The Fn key utility offers very little control of the Fn keys. It does not offer the ability to do anything other than disable five on screen notifications for keyboard backlight, power plan, touch pad, cursor overlay and numeric overlay.
    All help gratefully received.
    Andrew

    > So now I cannot enable the WiFi on the machine.
First of all you can enable and disable the WiFi using function key but you can also enable the WLan in Windows 8 settings
    Win key + C -> Settings -> Change PC settings -> Wireless
Now you can use the wireless devices slider to enable or disable the WLan.
But to get the FN key working you have to install the +Toshiba Function Key Utility+ for Win 8 and +Toshiba System Driver+ for Win 8

  • P1102w cannot enable "HP WEB SERVICES" for sprintConnection error" check

I have a new printer which works fine for wifi printing but I'd like to use web printing which I beleive is called eprint.
I printed the configuration page and my firmware is 20120814
I cannot see were my printers email address is.
I navigated to the printers url and clicked on the tab "hp web services" and clicked on the green button enable but I keep getting the following error message.
    "connection error: check internet connection"
From the router I can see that both the laptop and printer are on the same network 192.168.0.??
Can you please advise I suspect I have a fault on the printer but cannot be certain what can I do, I have updated the software on my mac which is running mavericks 10.9.2 , I've even hit the update software and there is no further updates available whch should mean I have the latest software and firmware for the printer.
Please advise how I may overcome the error when there clearly is no network issue as I can get to the printer to print and go to its web pages without any issues at all?

    Hi  paz_egap,
Thank you for the thorough response, I appreciate it.
Since you have set a static ip with manual DNS servers and you are still cannot enabled the web services is the firmware up-to-date on the printer.  Please follow the steps in Getting the Firmware and Product Updates.  Once the firmware is current and the printer still has its manual ip address and manual DNS servers you should be okay to enabled the web services on the printer.
If you are still having an issue after completing the above please call HP’s Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in the USA/Canada region.  If you live outside the USA/Canada region please click here to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.

  • Why I cannot enable 3G on iPhone 4S

How come you cannot enable and disable 3G on the iPhone 4S but you can on the iPhone 4 with iOS5?

I have the same problems - in the area I life 3G is very poor so it allways changes, searches or just has 1 reception point. So I allways had 3G deactivated.
In the 4S it´s impossible to do so - damm..
And I think I´ve found out the reason why: SIRI
When you don´t have 3G Siri cannot work properly - if I ask SIRI "where do you come from" - I get an answer on WIFI or 3G but on Edge it tells me that it didn´t understood me.
So it seems that Siri only works with a descent 3G connection - that´s maybe the reason why the took out the possiblity to deactivate as then Siri won´t make sense anymore.
PLEASE APPLE I DON`T CARE! I want to save my battery and have stable connection for phoning etc.
Siri is not more important for me then that - so please bring the functionality back - or you force me to jailbreak what I didn´t do on my 2G or 3GS so I don´t want to do that no either.
Please give us the freedom to decide!

  • Airplay not enabled unless I enable WiFi

On a late 2012 Mac Mini, updated with OSX 10.8.2, iTunes 11.01.
I cannot see my AirPlay devices in either iTunes or the menu bar at top unless I enable Wifi. That seems silly since all my airplay devices are connected by Ethernet. Is there anyway to have airplay without turning on wifi?
This is perfectly repeatable...enable wifi, can see devices, disable wifi, airplay goes away.
    Thanks

Hi, I think it's the whole reason the name starts with Air...
Apple wants you to stream music and movies all over your home network. And they want you to do it wirelessly. And of course, they want you to use Apple AirPlay to do it.
    http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/airplay.htm
As long as your computer and the device you want to connect to are on the same WiFi network, you'll see the names you've given the devices in the menu that appears when you click the AirPlay icon.
    http://ipod.about.com/od/usingairportexpress/ss/airtunes-use.htm
Not that I think it should be Wifi only... just reporting the way it is.

  • Is there a location aware wifi option (or app) that enables wifi at a specific location (home) and automatically disables it when you are away from the specified location?

I manually turn off my wifi when leaving home for several reasons:
    1. I don't want my wifi to be on and constantly scanning wifi networks while I am away from home due to privacy reasons.  Many retail stores and airports are now tracking users based on their smartphone's wifi pings.  They can then store your phone's MAC address (the unique identifier of your phone) to determine how often you visit the store and where you go within the store.  It's just a matter of time before they match up your phone's MAC address with your credit card/payment info and then to your identity.  The only way to subvert this is to turn off your phone's wifi.
    2. For security reasons: Wifi access points can track devices that broadcast their wifi signal, even if they don't ever actually connect to the access point's network.  These access points can then store your device's details including your phone's MAC address.  Once your phone's MAC address is discovered, it can be targeted by a hacker.  In addition, there are multiple well known hacker tools that can be used to scan for smartphone wifi signals in order to detect and then hack your iphone.  Bottom line: if your wifi is discoverable, then your device is hackable.
    3. I believe it would save battery life if the iphone's wifi is not on and constantly scanning for networks all the time.
There are other reasons as well, but the above are my 3 main reasons for asking about this.
The reminders app is location aware - you can set reminders to alert you when you are at a specific location.  So, why not provide the option (or an app) to only enable wifi when you are at home - or any other location where you have an authorized or trusted wifi?
As it is right now, the iphone's wifi is broadcasting 24/7 everywhere you go.  Not great for privacy & security.  When I turn off my wifi, the phone uses my 4G plan for data and GPS for location services... so wifi is not needed at all for data or location services while I am away from home (and no, wifi does not improve location accuracy, that is a fallacy... there is nothing within the wifi protocol that could ever improve location accuracy).  But the point is, wifi should have a location aware option.  Otherwise, it's just a matter of time before there is a headline story about how not having this feature is a huge security/privacy problem.

Understood.  However, the point that I'm trying to make is that it's not the WiFi access point's security that's in question, it's having your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode that's in question.  It's simple: if your phone's WiFi is on, then it is both discoverable and hackable... even when it's not connected to a WiFi network or access point.  Here's an article about a drone in London that was created to hack smartphone WiFi signals (and hackers have been doing what this drone does for years):
    http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/20/technology/security/drone-phone/
The point is that it's not  secure to have your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode.  It would be better for privacy and security if Apple made WiFi location aware so that it is only enabled when you are at a trusted location (e.g. your home or office).  Or, at least give us the option of location aware WiFi so that each user can determine the best mode for their phone:
    (1) Always-On (current default - not secure and many privacy issues).
    (2) Trusted mode (only on at trusted locations).
    (3) Off.

I am able to unmonitor and monitor the resources manually. What is the cause of these WARNING messages? This from Oracle and we have yet to complete the installation of HA-Oracle. Oracle is not installed and tnsnames.ora and listener.ora is not configured. Is this the reason? If so, could someone explain why you cannot online the resource group until after the application has been installed.
    Thanks in advance,

As the manual says for clrs create:
By default, resources are created in the  enabled  state with  monitoring enabled. so when you issue the clrg online -emM it is just simply warning you that these other resources weren't disable. Note they wouldn't have been started because the RG would have been offline.
Does that explain it? If not, ask more questions.
