Cannot encode video in Media Encoder: "PProHeadless.exe has caused an error ..."

Can't for the life of me encode a video from Premiere Pro, it throws an error pointing to "PProHeadless.exe." The encoder will stay active and allow me queue the file, but nothing happens for a long time, and then it crashes with a Dynamic Link error. Nothing gets me out of it -- I have to force restart the Encoder. Anyone experience similar behavior?

Explain clearly what you want to do, what you are doing and what the result is - I would like to export a five and a half minute sequence to an MPEG2 - DVD clip. I go through Premiere Pro CS4 and tell it to export in that format (I've tried both internal hard drives and an external hard drive as export locations), Adobe Media Encoder 4.0.1.078 opens and pauses before the error message appears. The sequence's status is then "Waiting", but nothing else happens when I click "Start Queue" with the exception of the same error message appearing. This is my first time trying to export a sequence using CS4, but I've done it many times successfully with CS3 and FCP 6. I've tried reinstalling CS4 and I updated all drivers only a few weeks ago.
Also, the one video clip I'm using as my source-video is a 13GB+ file. It was never broken into shorter segments.

When trying to encode large (15 min & Larger) timelines in AME, i receive the error pproheadless.exe has encountered and error needs to close.
The result being I cannot encode the file - I have tried this with 3 separate Premier Pro projects, with the same result.  Smaller timelines, under 15 min, dont seem to be affected. Initially, we had only 2 GB of RAm, and upgraded to 4 GB of Ram, but that did not help the situtation.
I have seen many posts on here about this issue, but didnt seem to see anything definitive.
    Advice?

I am not running cs5 yet - still cs4.  I'll wait this time for others to work out the bugs.  Let me clarify, on my desktop - windows XP, 32 bit, I have 3 internal hard drives.  I usually have the project on my "media" drive (drive 2) and then export out to my "export" drive (drive 3).  My os is on my C drive.  My laptop - hp dv7 has one large hard drive.  I usually have the project on the c drive in documents and use an external hard drive as the scratch disc (for all the assests).  Are these configurations "kosher"?
    Thanks,

P.S. I could not find the CS4 forum - I looked again, I found the forum for CS4, sorry.

  • PProHeadless.exe has stopped working error when opening projects in Adobe Media Encoder CS6

Hi, I recently upgraded to Adobe Cloud CS6 and am having problems with the Adobe Media Encoder CS 6 (version 6.0.1.31 64-bit).
When I try to add Adobe Premiere projects in AME, it sometimes gives me the following error:
    PProHeadless.exe has stopped working
I tried rebooting, and it still gives me the same error.  Sometimes the project will load, sometimes it won't.
The Premiere projects contain a H.264 .mov file coming from my Canon T2i.  I also added an overlay logo to the bottom right of the video that I created in Adobe After Effects, which only contains text, no effects, no motion, etc.  Sometimes I also have a .wav file recorded from a Zoom H4n, but not always.  I usually edit those in Adobe Audition with the remove noise feature.
I am running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  I'm using an i7 with 16GB ram and an ATI 6870 video card.
I have the LUT buddy plugin installed.
It will give me the error the first time I try to load the project, and the connection to Dynamic Link Server will fail.  Afterwards, if I try to load the project again, even if I restart AME, it stays stuck in the Connecting to Dynamic Link server...
Any help anyone could provide would be appreciated.

    Hi Dima,
Thank you very much for your prompt reply.  Dragging the sequence from PPro to AME made AME lock up.  But your second suggestion of exporting the video directly from PPro seems to be working.  I still have 6 minutes to go, but at least it got up to 25% so far, so everything seems good.
    Thank you once again!
(although it would be nice if I could go through AME just in case)

  • Exporting video from media encoder. Half of the video export other half goes blank/black

Hi! I'm in need of help I've been trying to export this video to media encoder for about 20days now. I'm working with premiere pro cs5.5 and after effects cs5.5-
Dynamic link, I've updated the two and everything, every time I try to export my video half willl export and I believe after effects crashes and thats when the other
half of the video goes blank/black, this happens everytime, it's very frustrating and I don't know what is causing this. it actually just started.
it also does this on cs5 as well.
    I am working on windows 7 HPE-510y Hewlett-Packard computer
    14gb of ram

Have you checked the output in AME? I always check that before I hit go to make sure that I haven't fouled something up and that the in and out points are what I want. I spot check all along the timeline.
I'm thinking that you have some parts of the Premiere Pro project that are shots or sequences that have been "Replaced with After Effects Composotion." If this is the case, does the blackness happen in one of these shots? If it does I'd suggest trying to render that shot in AE and replace it in the PPro Timeline. If After Effects is really crashing you'll be able to find out why.
A little more detail about your project would also help.

  • F4v encoded with Adobe media encoder CS4 (longer than 71 minutes)

Hi I don't know if this is the correct place for this post. So apologies me if this is the wrong place.
Encoding with Adobe Media Encoder CS4 (4.2.0.006 and 4.0 too)
Source: MOV (DVPAL) longer than 71 minutes
    Dest: F4V (H.264)
Result: freezed frames and only plays audio at 01:11. Media Player goes crazy and starts showing some diferent parts freeze frames.
In Quicktime crashes, in VLC the same of MediaPlayer. Sometimes the audio starts to downsampling and sounds like the pitch goes down.
Totally agree with this other post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/580391
    (extract)
I recentlly encoded afew F4V using Adobe Media Encoder Cs4.  MOst of them are working properly but I don't know why, all of my video that are longer than 71 minutes seems to have trouble playing back.  They all Freeze when they reach 71 minutes or if I navigate pass this point.
    thanks and help us please!
    Kik

    Thanks for the interest.
I'll try to explain all details:
    MacPro 1.1 (mid 2006) under Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Darwin 8.11.1 kernel)
System files: journaled HFS+ and a unix based NAS (under samba connection)
I have all material on the NAS and also I make the transcoding over it. Is a simple mov containing DV PAL WIDE interlaced 25fps with stereo audio. typical settings with nothing out of DV PAL standard.
The version of MediaEncoder CS4: 4.2.0.006 (it happens with older versions too)
    The settings of MediaEncoder are:
    Audio: AAC stereo 44,1 kHz
Video: F4V. MainConcept H.264, fps like source, profile high, level 4,1. CBR compression.
The problem only appears with videos longer than 71 minuts. At 01:11 starts with crazy problems. It seems like the player have some read or problems.
Tell me if you need some other kind of information.

  • I am trying to install current Firefox 3.6, as I am currently running an older Firefox on my Windows ME, but I keep getting this error message: "Setup has caused an error in SETUP.EXE Setup will now close."--Please help?

I have downloaded all IP changer Privacy software I have purchased and am trying to install it, and although it is made to work with WindowsME that I am currently using on my computer, it now says it requires Firefox 3 or above to be able to install the software. Therefore, I am trying to update my Firefox to current 3.6 but once Firefox 3.6 downloads it doesn't install. Instead I just keep getting the same error message: Setup has caused an error in SETUP.EXE. Set up will now close. Several times, I have also tried restarting the computer as the error message also recommended But I just still keep getting the same error message when I try to update/install Firefox 3.5. Please help/advise on how I can fix this problem. Many thanks in advance!

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever version of Firefox for Win98 / SE / ME.
You can get it from here, but you are better off using K-Meleon (derived from Firefox) or Opera instead an old version of Firefox:
    [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/win32/en-US/]
You can try KernelEx to get Firefox 3+ to work, but it would be very slow with an old PC of less than 750Mhz. 3.5 and later supposedly doesn't work.

  • Why Isn't Flash Professional CC Allowing Me To Export My Video To Media Encoder CC?

    Hi,
I am hoping that someone would be able to help...
I made a couple of flash animations using the Adobe Flash Professional program that I am trying to piece together into a 30-second commercial in Adobe Premiere Pro.  The problem though is every time I go to export the video it'll save it in a .MOV file and then fail to export to Adobe Media Encoder.  The error message that I keep getting is the following:
Does Adobe Media Encoder not currently support .MOV files?   Does anyone know how to fix this.   I would really appreciate it a lot.  Please don't hesitate to let me know if you need more information about the issue.  Thanks!!!
    Sincerely,
    Bobby ~
P.S.:  I Am Very New To All Of This Adobe Stuff!!!

You may need to set the wmode value in a couple of places depending on your embedding code, so be sure to find them all.

  • Can't get remote cluster machine to encode video - getting 'Media Server application unexpectedly quit'

    Hi
Using Compressor 4 / Apple QuarterMaster admin etc, I have set up a Cluster and it works well to Share > Export Using Compressor Settings.  That took some doing, and I'm happy that it works.
If I do all my processing in the foreground, or alternatively in the background on my FCPX computer, ie without running or using any cluster in the background, it all goes well.  Quick, error free.
If I activate the cluster and only put my local machine's compressor services into it, and then send my compressor batch to the cluster, it works perfectly well.  But that defeats the point of having a cluster.  I want the remote machine to do all the work so my local machine doesn't slow down.
Unfortunately, if I add the remote machine's services into the cluster, the encoding always fails with 'Media Server application unexpectedly quit' in the error log.  I know that the cluster is distributing segments of the file to the remote machine - this can be seen in the Share Monitor, but they never get processed and sit there waiting until I get the error message.
The remote machine is a modern 4G core 2 duo MacBook. It's never been used for this before.  It has Compressor 4 and the Pro Apps Update installed and both appear to work.  Both machines are running 10.6.8.  The remote machine has Compressor services initialised in Apple QMaster sharing.  The QMasterAdmin sees these services.  They are accessible over Bonjour and appear in the Cluster.  Compressor services from both the local and the remote machine are configured exactly the same way.  The same QT codecs exist on both machines.  I've restarted, shift-restarted, etc etc.
So I am at a loss here.  The remote machine just won't compress anything it is sent.
Any ideas?  Must both have FCPX installed?
Anyone actually got a remote machine in a cluster to work with Compressor 4?  I can't figure it out.
    Chris.

    OK... finally sorted it out.
It's a bug, as far as I can tell.
Any job entered directly into Compressor 4 in the normal Compressor manner will be successfully rendered by any working cluster from any machine that can access the cluster.  That's good.  It means that the underlying distributed processing model works well.
HOWEVER - any job forwarded to a Compressor 4 cluster that includes non-local compressor services (ie compressor services not resident on the same machine), using Share > Export Using Compressor Settings direct from FCPX will fail.
To confirm this bug, I made a cluster on a remote machine.  It was a dual core machine, so I enabled 2 compressor services on that machine, and that's all the cluster was.  Simple.
I then manually entered a video file (ProRess 422 720p) into Compressor on the remote machine.  I did this by physically setting up new job using the compressor user interface.  A bog standard ProRes422 720p file rendered fine this way on the remote machine.  As did anything else I gave it.  Good.
Then on my main machine, I opened Compressor and made a job based on the same file and settings, and sent it to the remote machine's cluster.  No problem at all!  Great!
So now I know that both Compressor versions, and the clustering model, are working fine.  In fact I can send all sorts of files to the cluster, from any other version of compressor, and have them processed on the remote machine, and get the result back on my desktop later on.  Excellent.
But, if I try put this same file into a FMPX timeline, and go Share > Export Using Compressor Settings.... and select a cluster with remote (non-local) compressor services, it does not work.  Rendering the video segments on the remote machine times out and fails, every time.  It doesn't matter what file format I use, it just fails.
    So it's a bug.
From what I can tell, Final Cut Pro X somehow messes up the Share > Export Using Compressor settings where the cluster includes non-local compressor services, causing all jobs to fail.  The same Share > Export Using Compressor Settings will work quite happily if all the services on the cluster are on the same machine as FCPX, or if the job is sent to This Computer in the background.  But any attempt to send files to a cluster using any remote services will fail.
I hope this saves some people from wasting as much time as I have!
One workaround is to export to ProRes then put this file manually into Compressor, sending the job to the remote cluster.  This is a two step process with a large intermediary ProRes file.  If one goes Export as QuickTime movie, generating the intermediary file prevents further FCPX work being done.
To get the intermediary in the background one could use  Share > Export Using Compressor Settings via either This Computer, or to a cluster using only local services.  Then once complete, manually add it to a compressor job.
So this is a FCPX bug as far as I can tell.
    Chris.

  • Dark Video From Media Encoder

Imported quicktime video is dark in encoder. It makes no difference what format, codec or anything else I select in the format screen. When I view the quicktime file side by side with the preview and final encoded video the Adobe file is darker. My system is a Mac 8 core with HD 5770 video card and Blackmagic decklink card to output on external monitor. The video is exported from Avid Media Composer using quicktime prores codec 1080I although any quicktime file no matter where it comes from is dark in encoder.

  • Open video with Media Encoder on a mac

This may be a super easy noob style question, but here goes.
I'm on a MacPro running OSX 10.9.4, Adobe CC 2014. Whenever I need to convert a video file using Media Converter, I'll right click the file in finder and go to "open with", and can't get finder to recognize AME as a recommended application. It's not a huge deal, because I can select "all applications" instead of just "recommended applications", but that is just such a pain in the buns. Is there any way to get OSX to recognize AME as a "recommended application?" Like I said, not the end of the world by any means and I'm probably just derping up and being a noob, but if anybody knows I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, you don't... those are Windows formats that are not available on a Mac
    Nonsense.
Apple Compressor has been doing wmf exports for a decade. I have the Quicktime export components from Telestream and they appear as presets in Compressor. They should be available in Media Encoder or they should be importable. Adove apparently refuses to see them. Still trying to figure that out.

  • Big problems exporting a video in Media Encoder - detailed info

Problems with exporting media through Adobe Media Encoder.
Hi there.  I am really confused now, writing this, cause my Premiere CS4 has worked pretty good the year I have had it.
So it has chosen a really bad timing to cause me problems.
I am working on a big musicvideo production. The whole video is now finished, and the labels and the artists are waiting for the video. But I’m facing big problems now. And I have tried everything to solve this, without succeeding.
    ·         When I export the video, the Adobe Media Encoder sometimes waits and waits and waits and waits, and nothing happens.
    Screen shot:
    ·         When it does start, if goes to about 20%, and then it interrupts and give me "an unknown" error in the log-file:
    Screen shot:
    ·         Sometimes when I open the project , it gives me the following message when importing the media files.
    Screen shot:
    ·         The weird thing is that this only happens to the HD version. I have the same video in DV version, in a DV project, and it exports without any problem.
So PLEASE help me here, what shall I do??? I MUST finish this video!

And here is my log-file with all the attempts I've tried with different settings...

  • HLS stream cannot renew when adobe media encoder restart

    Hi,
I used adobe media server 5.0 in Red Hat 4.1.2 and adobe meida encoder 3.2 to recording HLS stream(get ts file), there's no problem when first running(use jwplayer to view the steam), but when I disconnect adobe media encoder for some time(about 12 hours) and reconnect the encoder, I found hls stream cannot renew, always stay on the moment I disconnect the encoder.
I know delete adobe media server old data(f4f, f4x) solve the problem, is there a way that adobe media server can renew the stream automatically?
    Thanks very much.

If you are not concerned with your .f4f fragments (storing them), then pass "&adbe-record-mode=record" string along with your rtmp stream ID. This will erase the entire /streams/<streamid> directory and re-publish.  However, jwplayer will receive an error.. For jwplayer to cycle automatically on error, just reload the same .m3u8 below with this error function when you load the jwplayer
    jwplayer("hlsPlayer").onError(function(event) {
    jwplayer('hlsPlayer').load({file: "http://example.com/hlslive/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/liveevent.m3u8",duration: "27"}
    jwplayer('hlsPlayer').play()

  • PProHeadless.exe, FileImporter.cpp-1132 errors exporting short video

    Hi,
I'm getting an error when I try and export my 3 minute movie. The error goes as follows:
    PProHeadless.exe
    AppVer: 0.0.0.0
    ModName: dvacore.dll
    Mod Ver: 2.0.0.0
    Offset: 002de00

I tried removing the two clips from the timeline at which it always seemed to crash, and it did export but only as an mp4. I tried re-converting those clips thinking they were corrupted, and still get the error with the new clips. In this same area there are crossfading .jpgs, but they have been sized to 72dpi and are concurrent with the video size, so this shouldn't be the issue, correct?
It also has listed a FileImporter.cpp-1132 error.
I've never had this issue before. I'm running Premiere Pro CS4 on a windows xp machine. Should I be converting these videos to a specific format before using them in the timeline? Right now I'm importing them as mpeg2, after converting them in Media Encoder.
    Thanks for your help!

Everyone may have already got what they wanted from the answers given in the post but I thought I'd add my PAL experience of this.
I tried to media export a timeline to one large mixdown file. (blackmagic mjpeg) the timeline had simple premiere titles fading up and down to black before each video module.  The media encoder worked fine but none of the dissolves from timeline to title worked - they translated as cuts in the mixdown.  In the end I dropped premiere generated black video over the titles and used variable opacity to bring them in and out.  This worked fine and proves that you can export with black at the front.
What it proves however is that CS4 really is working differently to CS3 in lots of ways.
As far as media encoder is concered, I'm sure this is a grandmother sucking eggs business but it's critical for performance that the USE PREVIEW FILES option in the settings box is selected.  Otherwise CS4 starts to re-render everything and seems to be much slower at doing it than a basic timeline render. Including metadata files doesn't seem to offend too much but I only evr include this when I'm exporting final versions anyway.
