Cannot enter BIOS or boot from LSI MegaRAID SAS 9271-8i

Hello,
I have a LSI MegaRAID SAS 9271-8i installed in a C220 M3 (in PCIe1). When I go to CIMC, I can see the adapter there and I can create RAID arrays. I can set the first logical drive to be the boot drive too without a problem. If I boot from ESXi installer it will see the disks and install to them.
The problem is, the server won’t boot from the disks, and I don’t see any problems for the card’s BIOS during boot. I have disabled the on-board RAID controller.
How do I get the server to boot from the RAID card?

Glad to see the issue is resolved now (I never saw your post before) was it that the OptionROM for the PCIe card was not enabled or the boot order was not properly set?

Windows 7 Stuck At BIOS Cannot Enter BIOS or Change Boot Media

My laptop has no problem before. Recently I try to install Windows XP. First attempt fail, so I change SATA at BIOS from AHCI to Compatible, success. However the partition that I want to install Windows XP to is not available.
So just to test I choose my Windows 7 partition. Since it want to format the partition, I cancel the installation. After restarting windows, it stuck at bios. I restart again and change SATA to AHCI. Restart, still stuck at bios. This time I cannot enter BIOS, recovery or change boot media. Assuming the boot sector has corrupt, will reseating the cmos battery will fix this problem. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will need to boot without the HDD to try and access the BIOS again. If you're able to access the BIOS using this method, reload the BIOS defaults by pressing F9 then press F10 to save and exit.
From here, you can try to:
1. Re-insert the HDD and press the OneKey Recovery button to reinstall Windows 7
2. Create a recovery disc for Windows 7, format the HDD and downgrade to Windows XP
3. Dual-boot Windows 7 and Windows XP (see this guide)

Fn Key is disabled on boot - Cannot enter bios

Hi there,
I'm running an x240 series machine running Windows 8.1 pro. I need to enter bios. I have tried butting it from PC settings, but there is no uefi option or any menu or boot menu option.
Hence, the only option was to enter via the traditional route. However, the moment I restart the machine, the fn key green light immediately lights up, effectively locking the button. When I interrupt the normal startup process via the "enter" key, I cannot enter bios via the fn + 1 key since the fn key is disabled or locked.
Is there a reason or a solution to enable the fn key?
Update: Felt like a complete moron. The F1 label was so small on the keyboard that I missed it. Just press the mute option. You will see a tiny F1 label on it.

There is also a way to access UEFI BIOS through Windows 8.1, though it's buried pretty deep.
Go to >PC Settings
>Update and Recovery (it's at the very bottom)
>Recovery (again, at the bottom. the next step shuts down you Windows session, so save your work)
   Click 'Restart now'
the OS shuts down and then displays some 'metro style' options.
   Click 'Troubleshoot'
then     'Advanced options'
then     'UEFI Firmware Settings'
then     'Restart'
then you hopefully will be presented with the options that you are looking for. (works on anything running UEFI Windows 8.1)

Satellite C660-2C3: Cannot enter BIOS

Hello,
I enabled the Quick Boot Function which skips the Logos and only boots from HDD, but now I need to install a 32bit Windows for School, but I can't enter or reset the Bios.
I tried every button combination I can think of.
Is there any way to remove this feature again without taking it apart?
The existing Windows is not the Original one, so no toshiba software is installed.

I have a similiar problem with my toshiba C660.
I want to view the S.M.A.R.T. menu on the hard drive , but actualy i cannot enter BIOS to change HDD Controller. He is curently saved as "AHCI" and i cannot enter BIOS to change it. I have tryied to press "F2" button several times , but no response. I tryed to press "INS" key at the beggining , then "F2" key , but still no entering to the BIOS menu. If i wrong , pls tell me where?!

I love my Apple aluminum thin USB wired keyboard with my Windows-based PC, but...
I'm d*mn frustrated.
I cannot enter my BIOS by pressing the F2 key at start up.
I also cannot press 'any key' when trying to boot from a disc.
The keyboard is unrecognizable to the PC until the Windows XP Pro OS loads, then it works perfectly, typing on it now.
The F2 button works as normal once XP Pro is loaded.
My mother board does not have any PS2 ports (it is an Intel DG33LT board). So I cannot plug in a PS2 based keyboard to enter the BIOS or boot from a disc.
I've read all about going into the BIOS and turning on the support of Legacy USB, etc. However, this is useless, as I cannot enter the BIOS in the first place.
I'm trying to upgrade my computer that I use primarily for producing my income via product design, 2 GB of RAM just doesn't cut it with Illustrator and Photoshop running at the same time.
I'd like to install Vista so it can support the 8GB of RAM I purchased. Can't boot from the DVD to install it.

I figured the obvious culprit was the keyboard itself. I was curious if there was a software fix, etc... rather than going to the store and dropping $20 on a keyboard just to access the BIOS/boot cd.
Well, I dropped the $20 on a junker keyboard, and it all works fine.
Also- do not correct my online etiquette.

I v got some problem with my Z87 - unless I enter BIOS or boot menu(F11), I v got error message "Reboot and select proper boot device....".
When I enter BIOS(or boot menu), and dont change anything, exit&save it boots just OK.
The boot priority is simply the OS drive as 1st and everything else disabled. Every single driver is up to date (using supplied live uptade for board (v1.7 bios), and official inter drivers for OS drive (intel SSD), sound, graphics,... everything). Nothing but mouse, keyboard and LCD is connected to the PC. No DVDs inserted, no USB flash drives. Win7 64-bit clean(except drivers ofc) installation.
Any ideas what might be the problem?

I am under the impression that this not a fresh build...did you remove recently any drives....do you have dual boot....?

K7T Turbo2 - how do I tell BIOS to boot from USB?

I have an old K7T Turbo2 system, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it. I guess that's my first question - am I going to run into any nasty problems running W7 on this board, other than RAM limitations? I have a version of "Tiny7" (which installs from CD-ROM) installed already and it seems fine, but I'd rather run a fuller non-pirated OS, and that means installing from a DVD/iso. I don't have a DVD drive installed and it would be a bit of a pain to acquire one, so I'm hoping to boot from USB to winstall W7.
I have a PCI USB2.0 card installed in the system, which seems to work fine. I've set the BIOS to boot from USB-FDD (but I've also tried USB-CDROM and USB-ZIP). I have BIOS 3.6. I've tried booting from the PCI USB2.0 hub (will that ever work or does the BIOS not recognize it?) and from the regular USB1 port on the mobo (but my USB flash drive is USB2).
Is there something else I need to do in the BIOS to get this to work? Will it never work no matter what I do?
I read somewhere about a BIOS setting to "enable legacy USB support" but can't see anything like that in my BIOS settings.
Any suggestions? (thanks in advance)

If there is no option to boot from USB-HDD then it may never work.
Long shot I know, but what if you connect your USB drive, then power on your system, and press F11 when the logo/POST screen appears, does the drive show in the Boot Menu that appears?

Really? DVD drives are very common, and cheap as chips! You can pick up a brand new DVD writer, for the price of a (good) DVD movie.

U310 with linux cannot enter BIOS

Hello,
I cannot enter my BIOS on a U310 no matter what I try, including soft/hard reboots, power plugin', Fn+F2, "holding B while powering on" combinations and other recommendations seen here or here.
I guess I should mention that I do not need/want Windows to the point that I even do not know what kind of Windows came on my U310 when I bought it, so there is a GNU/Linux (Fedora 17) installed, and the only problem I had was sorted as I wrote here. I have been happily using my laptop without problems otherwise.
My question is - how do I regain access to my BIOS now?
As I already stated, I do not care that a "One key restore..." button does not work for me, or similar single button functionalities are not perfect, but being completely cut off from BIOS is a totally different set of problems.

Update: the only hope of functionality left for me in this situation is that an USB DVD with a liveDVD can be choosen for boot by pressing Fn+F12, that gives me a boot menu, so I should at least be able to boot/install another operating system in the future, which is just enough regarding that functionality for me.
The problem with accessing BIOS remains, though, and I am looking forward to consult with a good lawyer after I try to figure out does this malfunction has anything to do with the UEFI recently forced by Microsoft - I somehow feel that at least in the EU courts it coud be presented as highly illegal to tamper with customer's freedom, and prevent me to use my laptop in a reasonably functional manner if I do not want Microsoft Windows on it.

Can't get BIOS to boot from a DVD!

I downloaded a Windows 10 64 Bit .iso file and I want to upgrade to it from 32 Bit, but no matter what I set my computer to boot first it always loads Windows and I can't install it from the .iso file because of a error with some older computers. Also
I do have the specs for a 64 Bit OS.

As mentioned above, If it does not automatically boot from the DVD, then you need to manually enter bios, then change the device boot order, make your DVD as the first boot device. Please also make sure that the DVD is not corrupted, in other words, pleaes
make sure that it is bootable, as Anthony mentioned, you need to correctly burn the iso to DVD.
And it's unavailable to to upgrade a 32 bit system to a 64 bit system, you need to backup your files and perform a clean installation.

T530: Cannot enter BIOS

I am unable to enter the BIOS (or the boot device and application menu) of my T530. When I press Enter at the 'Press Enter to interrupt normal startup' prompt, nothing happens. It just ignores my input completely. F1 doesn't do anything either.
Otherwise my ThinkPad is working fine, but I would like to change some settings (especially change the boot device, to boot from USB).
Could anyone help me?

ok, i'm really stretching here... what are the chances your F1 key is just dead?
does the key work after you're booted into Windows? if you have MS Word, pressing F1 brings up Help, for example.
what's your current BIOS version? you should be able to see it on the System Summary page when running msinfo32.exe.

Cannot Access BIOS or Boot Windows 8 After Changing UEFI BIOS to Legacy BIOS

Acer V7-751, 500G HD, Windows 8.
I changed the BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy BIOS when I was working on a problem. Now I can't even get into the BIOS (F2)
or change the Boot Order (F12). All I get is an error "Operating System not found". I can boot with a Win7, Win8, or Win8,1 DVD. I suppose I could boot with just about anything else bootable as well.
The problem seems to be caused because it's set to Legacy BIOS and Secure Boot Manager as default #1 boot device. Legacy BIOS
can't boot a Win8 drive that has been installed under UEFI (Secure Boot). I have to change the BIOS back to EUFI to boot the WIn8 drive, but the only way to change the BIOS is from within Win8. It's a very flawed way of doing things but it's the way it is.
Does anyone have any suggestions that they KNOW work. Please don't Google answers. I've already done that. And please (please)
don't tell me to power on and press "F2" (or any other key) to go into BIOS. If I could do that I wouldn't be posting.
Once again, I cannot get into the BIOS without going into Windows first. I cannot load Windows because the install was done
under UEFI. I cannot change from Legacy to UEFI because I can't get into the BIOS.

In this case, I flashed the BIOS with a newer version of the BIOS/Firmware and that returned everything to the Defaults (not Legacy BIOS). I believe you could also flash with the same version. I don't think you could flash with an earlier version, but no harm
in trying it. if you've flashed the BIOS previously, you may be able to restore the previous copy. It all depends on the manufacturer and how they handle flashing the BIOS.
I wasn't able to, but you may also be able to boot from a correctly formatted USB drive with another OS (Windows XP/Vista/7) because Legacy BIOS allows you to boot from external devices. Essentially, you need to be able to boot from a valid OS that is not on
the Hard Drive that was configured using the UEFI BIOS setting.

U310 Touch Cannot Enter Bios Setup with NOVO Key

I am trying to enter bios and have tried the following and failed.
1) Through Advance Setup in Windows UEFI Firmware
2) FN F2 / F2
3) NOVO Key
The NOVO gives me an option to Bios Setup but it just boot me back to Windows 8.1.
I need on-site warranty on this laptop in Hong Kong. Is the warranty international?

I don't have an IdeaPad U310 myself, but I'm wondering if you hold down the F12 key after applying power, does that give you a menu from which you can get to the BIOS? That worked for me on a IdeaPad U410.

Set Bios to Boot from 2nd Hard Drive

Hello HP forum!
I have a situation that I am afraid may be hardware related, so this is my last attempt for help before I let it go.
In this laptop, I have two hard drive slots with two hard drives. The second hard drive was used as an HP backup/restore drive as shipped from the factory.
I would like to format and install an OS onto the 2nd drive for easy-peesy dual booting. (This is a work computer, so easy + time-efficient + low-risk is optimal). I have actually done this already, but the BIOS does not seem to detect two bootable hard drives. In the BIOS (pretty sure not EFI) boot list, it simply shows the option to boot from "Notebook Hard Drive", which boots from the 1st drive.
In my 1st Drive's Windows 7, I can read the contents of the 2nd disk, so it is definitely functional. Also, replacing the 1st drive with the 2nd drive, I can successfully boot from it, so it is bootable. This seems to imply that my hardware understands that there are two drives, but the BIOS does not recognize that port to be a bootable option, but only a storage option... I guess?
My question is, then, how can I set up my computer to give me the option to boot from either drive? Is it even possible on this hardware?

Did you make sure to update your bios as that could be something that might require a bios update? Also if you can't see or locate that second drive in the BIOS you might not have the option to boot from the second drive? Does the bios also give you the option to boot from the cd drive? Your asking us to see a boot bios screen and unless some has your same make/model no everyone will be able to confirm or see what your asking so unless you can do more looking at all your bios options you might not have the option to boot from the second drive port.

Cannot enter BIOS HP 242 G1

I have a trouble to enter BIOS on my laptop HP 242 G1. When booting up, I pressed ESC immediately before loading OS, then I pressed Fn+F10 to enter BIOS but there is no response.
I tried to press Fn + F1 to show information and it was worked.
What should I do to enter BIOS?

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial/Notebook PCs - Pavilions, Presario.

Conflicting instructions for BIOS update: boot from CD but undock from Ultrabase?

I have an X61 and am trying to update the BIOS to the latest.
Lenovo support has a downloadable "BIOS Update Bootable CD" for my model of ThinkPad - an ISO image that I can use to create a bootable CD that will update my BIOS.
However the instruction file includes this sentence: "If your computer is attached to any kind of docking station or port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding." This is before I boot from the CD.
If I undock from the ThinkPad X6 UltraBase then how can I boot from the CD??
Should I just ignore the instruction to undock?
Sorry if this seems silly but I'm a bit paranoid about updating the BIOS.

go to this site, it's a heck of alot easier to use. On the other hand you can also use system update, it'll get most automatically for you. For SU make sure .NET Framework v.2.0 or later is installed.
