Cannot enter German Umlauts in Short text of Purchase Requsition ME51N

Dear All,
We have one problem in entering short text in PR in German and Russian language , User created PR and can not insert special characters ME51N: e.g. ä ü ö Ø in German and it gets deleted and special characters in Russian language are converted to # symbol for a Russian user in PR short text. Also if German user try to select F4 entries in UOM field , they get message like "keine eingabehilfe verfügbar" (no input help available) ,same with Russian user, but this message is intermittent and this issue is happening since our ECC 6 go live. Pls let me know if this problem is due to Unicode conversion or Basis problem or any related SAP notes to fix the same.

According to Note 508854, the editable ALV grid is not Unicode-enabled.
If you want to use special characters, use the table control. To do
this, set the "Item overview as grid control" flag to blank in the
"Personal Setting" on the "Basic settings" tab page.

This cannot be realize in sap standard system. You may want to write your own coding using
ME_PROCESS_REQ and ME_PROCESS_PO for purchase requisition and purchase order respectively.

German umlauts in dialogue windows

I installed Framemaker 8.0.4 on Solaris.
When I enter german umlauts (or french accents) in any text field of any dialogue window, Framemaker does not echo the umlaut, but a character sequence, e.g. '%X8A', instead of an 'ä' character. This is a bit annoying, because I cannot e.g. search my document for german words containing umlauts. With Framemaker 6 I did not have this problem.
I can cut and paste (with mouse buttons) an 'ä' character from a text editor into a FM text field, which will be echoed correctly. Entering umlauts in the document window also works well.
How can I fix this?

You did not say, whether a search with "%X8A" does find occurrences of ä.
The code is the hex code equivalent of ä - apart from that the hex code should start with \ and your example starts with %. I do not know, whether % is the correct character for Solaris.
On Windows I can search for \x8a and find ä.
All hex codes are listed in Character_Sets.pdf in "documents" in the FrameMaker installation folder. (Possibly the folders have different names on Solaris.)

SAP Gui 7.20 PLevel 3, ALV Problems with German Umlauts u00FCu00F6u00E4...

Hi,
we have updated our SAP Gui to version 7.20 lately and have some serious problems now with entering German Umlauts 'üöäÜÖÄß' into any editable ALV grid.
This means when typing in e.g. 'ü', the grid immediately removes this character and replaces it by, well, by nothing. It just ignores this character at all.
SAP Gui is currently at patch level 3 . The correct version is 7200.1.3.3190, build 1196830. Running German Windows XP clients with service pack 3. ERP is running SAP ECC 6.0.
Is this a known problem? Has sbdy. a workaround this?
Edit: Just found the release notes for SAP Gui 7.20 Lvl 3:
2010/09/02 Texts get garbled while typing umlaut character in ALVGrid, Note 1503081
This note, however, is not open for public view. OTH this means SAP was aware of this problem and tried to correct it to no avail so far.

where did you get this info? Any official SAP note available? Do you encounter similar problems?
We, too, noticed that uploading and downloading files from directories with German Umlauts, this fails now,too. There may be problems with files, too, however, we did not check this so far. The previous SAP Gui, I guess it was 7.10, didn't have any problems with this.
I start wondering if SAP Germany have ever tested this? Or do they not use Umlauts anyway

I have already tried doing these :Opened the GUI Status in change mode and changed the short texts of the Application tool bar ,
                           Menu Bar ,
                           Function Keys ,
thinking that this will update in the Short text .. but that didnt happen ...

Short Text : New GUI Status .
Change the Short Text to " Changed GUI Status ' .

Open the program.. open node GUI Status
Double click on the status you want to change
go to menu GOTO>ATTRIBUTES>STATUS
click on continue or simply enter
Here change the short text and continue or enter
activate it

I think there is no configuration to change the field length. It is technical job, but needs developer key to change the std SAP field length. I recomond that donot go for this, as short text itself is 40 charecter length, there are so may text fields in TEXT tabpage. You can get these texts in PO print also...

PO short text to be made un-editedable

PO short text is to be made unedited.
Now, I am able to enter material description in short text in PO before adapting PR wherein the master description will be different than entered earlier. I want to block editing short text of PO before apapting PR and it should flow from master description only. Can any body help on this how to block entering manually in short text. Presently user can enter any description and then adapt PR, so that master description is not reflected in PO.

Cannot renew code signing certificate - maybe bug with german Umlaut?

Hello!
Since one month I expierence a message that I should renew my code signing certificate and today I thought it is time to stop this message.
Because I could not find anything about renewing the certificate in Mountain Lion I used the KB-article that discribes the process for Lion.

after that I get this in at my terminal:

when I press return I get this:
/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/sbin/certadmin Cannot find the certificate: myserver.domain.de Signierungszertifikate für Code
I checked it again and again - I cannot find any typo or something like that - so maybe Mountain Lion wants to renew the certificate in a different way or certadmin cannot cope with german "Umlaute" - "für" - in english for - but I did not gave this name it was given by the system when I setup the server one year ago.

I am stupid - I read the KB article again and there it says
"When entering the hexadecimal serial number, ensure that all letters are entered in lower case."
I retyped the command with lower case hex numbers and everything was fine

Error message if invalid characters entered in PM order oper.short text fld

Hi ALL,
I need to display a error message, when user enters the invalid characters in work order operation short text field. The error message should be displayed during work order u201CSaveu201D (during creation and change mode).
Kindly let me know is there is any user exit / BADI can be used for this.
Note: I have checked some user exit, such as IWO10009 but I am not getting the value of Operation short text (AFVGD-LTXA1) to compare and throw the error message

Enter short text error when creating a purchase requisition using ME51

I would be grateful if someone can help. I am currently trying to raise a purchase req using ME51. The purchase req is for one item so i enter details of this item on line 1. However when i try to save the purchase req i get an error message stating "enter short text" on line 3 and it does not let me continue. Line 3 however does not contain any item information so i dont understand why i am getting this error message.
Another user created the same purchase req and it worked fine for them so i am not sure why i am getting this message.
I would be grateful if you can please help.

I cannot enter text in the iTunes search box

I'm having a really bizarre problem with iTunes latest version (10.5,0.142). When I click in the search field in the upper right-hand corner of the program, I cannot enter any text--no text cursor appears. I can click on the little down arrow next to the magnifying glass and select "All," or "Artist," or "Album," etc, but I'm not able to enter text. It's like the focus doesn'tshift from the Library pane and any letters I type just cause the highlight for that window to drop down to the closest match to the character I typed, even though the focus has shifted to the search pane.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but that does not correct this misbehavior.
Not sure if it's related, but I also no longer have the text menus available at the top of the window, whether the program is maximized or minimized and taking up only part of the screen (this is not a screen clipping problem--those text menus are no longer there, though you can get very small hotspots to appear near the upper left hand edge of the program window (when you have the program window in normal mode, rather than maximized), where those text menus would be, and if you click on the hotspots, the menus do appear.
But, by far, the first issue is the most perplexing.

Solved: This was caused by replacing the SegoeUI (Regular) true-type font. I have no idea what process or why that font was deleted, but finding the segoeui.ttf file on another Windows machine, emailing it to myself, saving it to disk, then right-clicking and choosing "Install" fixed this problem.

Cannot enter text in Elements 11 after installing PS CC and LR 5

After downloading installing PhotoShop CC and LightRoom 5, I cannot enter text in PS Elements 11. I get the message that "something prevented the text engine from being initialized."
How do I correct this?

Did you reboot the machine after installing the new applications? In windows 7 and Windows 8 it is almost always required to reboot the machine. sometimes it does it automatically but sometimes it doesn't but it is a good idea to manually RESTART the machine.

I cannot enter text to change event names

I just installed the newest update for 08 (7.2) and now I cannot enter text into the heading boxes for the events. I can select the area so that a text box comes up, but I don't get that icon thing that tells me that I can type in it. I should also add that I just purchased one of the new apple keyboards and have been having occasional problems like this in other applications.

You need to have the Helvetica Neue font installed. Open Font Book and check to see if it's installed. If it is, deactivate it and then reactivate. If it's not there, use Pacifist to locate, extract and install the font from the system install disk that came with your Mac.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

It's a bit hit and miss, Walter. Sometimes the box to enter text shows up straight away in the inspector under "text". Other times, although you click "text" in the inspector, there's nowhere to actually write anything.... then what you have to do is move the trackbar over the Title Box until you see the text boxes in the main Viewer. In the Viewer, double click a text box.... you can enter text there, but it's a bit flaky, but when you've clicked in it, you'll find that under "Text" in the inspector, the box for inputting text has magically appeared!
I'm not sure if anyone else has this trouble, but it is a bit of a pain!

i want to write a enhancement to remove the case sensitive of the short text entered in me21n transaction code for service Number . ie .. whether i enter the text in captain letter or small letters it should fetch the exact data accordingly to the short text entered ( the respective service number should be retrieved ) , i think there will be some function module that will remove this case sensitive thing . plz help me out

It strikes me as odd that Apple would appear to make the use of both lower- and upper-case letters possible in the short user-name, leaving the possibility that upper-case letters might lead to some problems/conflicts down the line. It would be helpful if they'd provide some explanation about this. Anyway, as I said, I'm very far from being an expert in all this, and appreciate that people like yourself on these
forums are willing to provide helpful feedback.
