Cannot enter password into Windows 8.1 login screen

I hve brand new Pavilion 15-P016AX notebook, runnign Windows 8.1.
I have not used it, simply gone through the user setup and connected to th internet. I assume some HP and/or Windows updtes have probably installed themselves in the meantime, but that would be the only change from the factory settings.
On power-up, the first screen which comes up is the standard scren with a clock and the date. I click on this screen and a second screen appears, asking for my login password.
I can click in to the password box, but any typing on the keyboard does not result in any entry to the password box. No asterisks appear at all.
All other icons on this page are active, however. Even the icon (the right facing arrow) to submit the password is active. I can submit the password, and I am told I have entered the wrong password. Other icons like the on/off icon are also active.
Now, if I put the notebook into sleep mode, then awaken it, the same startup routine happens, but this time I can enter the password and log on.
The onyl solution I can find is to disable passwords on my account, however I would prefer to have password protection.
Any ideas?

I unplug the keyboard from it's USB socket, then re-plug it into the same, or another USB socket. This always works for me. The problem only occurs during approx20% of my login attempts seemingly at random. I bought new keyboard but this made no difference. I have a "power on" password set (in the BIOS) on my computer. There is never a problem typing this. The problem only occurs at the Windows login screen. I understand that this problem has been around since Windows XP. Maybe Windows 10 will fix it - or maybe it won't.
I have an HP computer running Windows 8.1 that is set up to install updates automatically.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Try resetting your phone:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

Export Launches Windows Live ID Login Screen

I am having a prob with Lightroom
Whenever I try to Export, I get a Windows Live ID Login Screen, which eventually hangs and crashes LR.
Anyone else have this prob, or a suggestion as to how to solve it.

My Lightroom has just started with this same problem.
I run Vista and had no problem with Lightroom Version 1.1 or 1.2 until I recently upgraded to V1.3.
I have uninstalled Lightroom and re-installed my original Version 1.1 that I purchased. But the problem was still apparent, so I then upgraded back to the latest version and still have the same problem.
Basically the problem that I have is whilst in the Develop module I select Export DNG and a dialogue box opens up and when I select computer this is when Windows ID box opens up and the problem is the same as everyone else was getting.
I will now try the above solution, but I don't see why I can't select computer, then D drive then the folder I want to export to?

Cannot enter data into table with column named DATE

I have a table as follows:
CREATE TABLE PACKINGLINE (
SNO VARCHAR2(13),
"DATE" DATE DEFAULT SYSDATE,
PRDORDNO VARCHAR2(12),
NOW DATE DEFAULT SYSDATE,
CONSTRAINT PACKINGLINE_PK PRIMARY KEY ("SNO", "DATE"));
Note the "cleaverly" named DATE and NOW columns (yes, that is the name of the column... our company was bessed with a very clear SQL server DBA in the past)
This SQL statement works:
INSERT INTO PACKINGLINE (SNO, PRDORDNO) VALUES ('1000808972', '100080897');
However when I try use SQL Developer as follows I cannot enter data:
1. Open SQL Developer
2. Click on "Tables" then on my table named PACKINGLINE
3. Click the "Data" tab
4. Click the [+] "Insert Row" Icon
5. Enter the same data as above
6. Click Commit
7. The following error is shown in the log window and I cannot commit the data change.

I can copy and paste the above query into a normal SQL statement window and the data commits fine.

Its so flaky there really must be something wrong Mr Adobe support person....
If I load a PDF, do nothing, gently save it, reopen and then waiting for my trial dialogue to wake up so that I can click on continue trial... then save as extended reader blah.... then close. I have finally saved one that works!!!! but how difficult is that????

Local Users (belongs to domain) on ISE cannot derive Password from Windows Database

Dear Support Team
We are in the progress of Migrating ACS4.2 to ISE3355 running 1.1.4. We have SSL VPN Users & Wireless Users to be migrated.
ISE 1.1.4 is already integrated with AD Windows 2008 and can see all the groups defined on AD.
1: in ACS 4.x & even 5.x, we have option to add a user locally (users belonging to domain) , and we can configure user’s password to be derived from Windows Database. It helps to control AAA Policies.
It also helps to avoid configuring "users" in specific groups on AD and as a result no dependency on System Team to configure users in specific groups, which can be used in policy making on ISE.
However while doing the same, I could not find an option in ISE 1.1.4. Password cannot be derived from windows database. Password has to be set manually, that clearly means that i have to arrange the users in specific group on AD.
Is it a platform specific issue or am I missing something ?

It seems that i have to open a TAC case to get cisco official explanation on this feature, it was a nice feature, which has been unnecessarily deprecated.

Windows 8.1 cannot change password in Windows 2003 domain level domain

On several installations of windows 8.1 enterprise, users cannot change passwords by using <ctrl> + <al> + <del> keys and choosing change password.
The error is: "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship"
Fresh Windows 8.1 enterprise installs with no patches to fully patched windows 8.1 enterprise workstations have the problem. Backed out patches one by one and tested password change without success. Tried various dell laptops, tablets, and workstations
but same issue. Tried VMware guest workstation with windows 8.1 enterprise. The domain functional level is 2003 with a mixture of Windows 2008 R2 DC's and Windows 2003 DC's.
The add/remove from domain did not help. What troubleshooting steps should I take from this point? Is this related to secure channel failures? Note: did not find event log entries for the failures in the DC's nor on the workstation.
Perhaps I did not search for the proper entry on the DC's.

Secure channel is broken (Can fix by rejoin problematic client to domain)
AD replication issue. The computer account exists on one domain controller but not others.
Duplicated SPN (seems not possible)
So, to narrow down the issue, you need to make sure the AD replication is working fine. Please run command
repadmin /showrepl * on a DC, then post the result here.
After that, please run
set l on a problematic client, then post the result here.
Moreover, please check on system event log and check if there have any related error of the issue.

Cannot paste password into prompt when importing a certificate

I wanted to import an email signing certificate into my Keychain Access application, but when I import and am prompted for the password to open the certificate, the Keychain Access application won't let me paste anything in the password prompt. Has this always worked this way?
I guess it discourages people from saving certificates with long random passwords.

i'm really a novice into Apple Store and Products for Development, so i hope to be clear.
I'm an italian app developer, and i'm figuring a strange behaviour into Individual Apple enrollment program: when i fill in the form for billing, country field is deactivated so i can't choose anything. So that at the next step Apple shows me an error. I even tied with Safari or Chrome or Firefox, but nothing changes (i'm using a MacBook Pro).
How to fill in the form properly?
I remark that i tried to submit as a company but i'm wasting many days with D&B number that is always reported as wrong from Apple, even if i directly contacted D&B support to make verification and updated on my D&B account.

Cannot enter email into blocking area

I am trying to enter the following email address into the blocked address list

However, I get an error message on the Verizon page saying You have entered an invalid email.
I have newsmax.com entered but the emails are still coming through. What is the correct format?

I just did a copy and paste of the address you posted and the webmail blocking took it just fine.
I have no idea what is different for me, but no issue here.

When i click on a banking link an allowed pop up appears. It will only allow me to enter one digit of my registration no.

HT1212 My IPod Touch is locked & I cannot enter password or even slide to unlock. Is there a way to correct this. It also says I can try again after 23 million or so minutes.

My granddaughter had not used her Ipod Touch for a few weeks & when she attempted to turn it on it was locked w/ a message indicating the Ipod touch was disabled & to try again in 23 million + minutes. I tried the same with the default form created from the wizard based on the table SCOTT.EMP .
It contains the field SAL with datatype NUMBER(7,2).
I was able to enter the decimal values and it worked perfectly fine.
Did you specify the precision and scale of the number datatype properly ?
NUMBER(precision,scale)
precision - the total number of digits
scale - number of digits to the right of the decimal point.
