Cannot Enterprise Activation - Desktop manager 5.0.1

Hi,
I want to perfomr wired enterprise activation of my BB device on lab setup,
Things I do not have
I donot haveGSM/Edge  Blackberry plan and not register with any service provider
Since I'm testing BB in my test lab, my exchange is confined to test lab environment and do not have public dns entry like MX record and cannot route emails from internet
Thing I have,
VMWare - Exchange Server 2003 Sp2 on IWndows Server 2003 R2 SP2 , Domain controller, BES Express 5.0.2 ( 2 free license), XP client with Desktop manager 5.0.1
One BB device for testing.
Internet connection to BES Infrastructure ( resolve - ca.srp.blackberry.com - PASSED)
Question,
1. With the above setup can I perform the wired  Enterprise activation(EA) using Desktop manager 5.0.1?
I'm unable to perform EA using desktop manager 5.0.1
Appreciate your response,

HI Jamead1981,
Please refer teh link - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB21124
This link says you can either directly attach the BB device to BES and perform the enterprise activation. Hence BB plan would be necessary if wireless activation is performed. For wired , you can attach the device to BES server and perform activation.

• Cannot Connect to Desktop Manager

For some reason I can not get my Playbook to connect to the Desktop Manager.  I have tried on 2 seperate computers (one XP and one Vista).  I have tried deleting and reinstalling the latest version of DM.  I know it's not the cable as I am able to connect my Bold 9700 with no issues.  On the XP computer it just doesn't recognize it.  The Playbook itself goes to the "Connected to Computer" screen, however the device doesn't show up as connected or under My Computer.  In the Device Manager it's listed at a Network Device (With a yellow exclamation point) and when I click on it, it says "Device can't start".  On the Vista Machine it shows up in DM as an Unknown Device and a window pops up saying "Desktop Manager cannot communicate with this device"
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Try turning off your wireless.  I had the same problem at work.  Our wireless at work is outside the office wired network and the software will not let you connect if your computer is not on the same network as the playbook. Once I turned off the wireless it worked great.

• Error 1723 - Long time loyal Blackberry TOUR user - cannot install recent desktop manager

I cannot install the latest desktop manager on Windows 7.  I have used this phone for YEARS and also syncd fine.  Now I am dead in the water.  The latest install package needs TO BE FIXED.  Well into the installation I get the following message:
"Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. ActionRepairRimUsbDriverNT.07D232B6_7904_4970_8B22_8F…"
I have resisted the urge to "upgrade" to the popular newer smart phones from other companies, but I will have to leave Blackberry forever if this problem is not fixable (fixed) within the next few days.

Select your Blackberry Model - Your Service Provider.- Verify the Blackberry Desktop Software, which displays and download the latest related to your model.... Those are specifically suitable for your blackberry model... Hope this help..
Actually, not quite...the issue for the OP was the Desktop Software, the link you provided is for Device Software. Indeed, the full portal for Device Software is thus:
http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
There is only one version of Desktop Software, while there are hundreds of versions of Device Software. The Desktop Software, installed to the PC first, followed by installation to the PC of the specific Device Software, is the best way to ensure proper functionality between the PC and the device. However, as with all technology, there is no 100% guarantee.
Good luck!

• Pearl cannot be discovered by Blackberry Desktop Manager

My computer connects to my Pearl via Bluetooth, but I cannot get the Desktop Manager to discover the Pearl.  The Pearl uses Com3, but when I try to use Blackberry Device Manager to add a COM port, I cannot get it to add COM3.  It automatically adds COM8, COM9, COM10 and so on.  Does Verizon not permit a connection via Bluetooth?  If so, how can I make the connection?

Issue resolved! : ) I deleted the browser cache data and the backup finally worked. Thank you so much for helping me resolve this problem.

• Desktop Manager just refuses to see 8820.

Talk about frustration.  I never had any issues with my Treo 650 regarding this.  But what bothers me the most, is my BB 8820 used to work fine.  I don't know what changed.
Here is my log file from reading the forums, and the things I've tried:
I have a Blackberry 8820.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit edition.  I have turned the UAC in Vista OFF because it drives me crazy.
I cannot get the Desktop Manager to see my BB.
The Blackberry shows up in the Device Manager, so no issues there.  It is recognized and installs just fine.
The Desktop software installs just fine.  I am running version 4.7.  I ran the installation using "Run as Admin".  I did not install Media version.
I had to manually uninstall the software initially, by deleting the Research In Motion folder, and then using Regedit to delete all "blackberry" and "Research In Motion" entries.  Once I did all this, the software no longer showed up in "Programs and Features".
I reinstalled a fresh copy of 4.7.  It would not see my BB.  I rebooted, and it still does not see my BB.
I have tried the method of removing the battery and replacing it and it does not see my BB.
I have tried different USB cables to no avail.
Since I am on a laptop, I have made sure that all USB ROOT Hub Properties are not set to "turn off this device to save power".
I had my Blackberry working on this laptop before.
After all this, I tried to uninstall my 4.7 Desktop Manager, and I get the error "Error 2738.Could not access VBScript run time for custom action."  Ok, so I Googled this, and I had to go to my Windows\system32 folder using command prompt and type regsvr32 vbscript.dll to register that.  This fixed the problem and I was able to uninstall the software.
I always installed the desktop manager without the Blackberry being connected to the computer.
I disabled any Anti Virus software, just in case.  I removed the SD card from the phone, just in case.
Something weird goes on.  Each time I run the Desktop Manager, if I click on OPTIONS and then set connection type to USB, it's starts running an install.  It does this like 3 to 4 times.  Well.... finally my BlackBerry came up.  Then I went to option to change something else, and that stupid installation window popped up AGAIN.  Now it doesn't see my BB.
I decided to bag all this and figured I would try the BlueTooth.  I can pair the device with absolutely NO problem to my laptop.  My laptop finds the phone quickly and works just fine.  Then when I try to set the Desktop Manager to use Bluetooth, it won't just use what has connected to the laptop, it has to go out and search for a bluetooth device.  It never finds my phone and NEVER quits searching.
UPDATE:  Ok, so I uninstalled the 3rd party bluetooth drivers and I am only running the Microsoft Vista plain vanilla drivers.  Didn't make a different though, as the bluetooth STILL doesn't see my phone.  Yet my laptop see's and pairs with the phone via bluetooth just fine.
UPDATE #2: Ok, so I created a new Windows Login.  I had installed the blackberry Desktop Manager for ALL users.  I created a TEST login account for windows.  So, once logged into this new account, it see's the BlackBerry just fine with the USB cable.  The BlueTooth still doesn't work, but it see's the Blackberry right away.  Whereas when I log into my regular account, I keep getting this annoying installation windows that says "Please wait while Windows configures Blackberry Desktop Software".
Please, if you see anything that I overlooked, let me know.
Thanks!

Have you turned off the PC, and rebooted .
Same for the BlackBerry, except With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

• Help with Desktop Manager

I have a BB Bold 9650 and run Desktop Manager to synch to MS Office.  I ran version 5.0.xxx and today got an update notice for version 6.0.  I chose to run the update and midway through the update, got several error messages that the software was not compatible with MS and should be shut down.  After the third warning message, I shut down the update, now all I get are error messages and I cannot run the Desktop Manager.  I tried to uninstall, but MS failed to fully uninstall version 6.0, I tried to reinstall version 5.0 from Verizon website, but still no luck.  Ideas????

For some reason, I cannot change my desktop background no matter how many times I delete the "active" folder.  It's as if it's locked.  Any ideas how I can fix it?

Yes it sounds like you have a corrupted preference file.
The setting you make in individual programs get saved to a Preference file in your Users/Library/Preferences folder.
All you have to do is drag out the old file to the desktop, reboot and load the program and the preference file gets rebuilt without your preferences which you reset.
For your case I beleive the preference file is
com.apple.desktop.plist

• Cannot set synch configuration in Desktop Manager

Hello,
I’m using a Blackberry Bold 9700 and a Win 7 computer with Outlook 2003.
I’d like to sync my BB with my Outlook contacts and calendar, but I’m completely unable to set up my synch configuration in the Desktop Manager.  When I try to do so, a “Processing” progress bar pops up, runs through several statuses quickly (“Action engine loading configuration” seems to be the most prominent) and then… nothing.  The progress bar disappears and nothing further happens.
If I try to sync, I get an error that says I need to set up applications.  Choosing the option to do so, however, leads to the same progress bar and lack of further options.
If I check off the option to update the date and time when I try to sync that – and only that – DOES seem to work.  I still cannot sync any data.
All other tools in the Desktop Manager (Application Loader, Backup, etc.) seem to work properly.
I’ve tried installing and uninstalling multiple version of Desktop Manager (I’m primarily using 5.0.1, but went back to 4.5) with the same issues.  I’ve also stripped other applications from the phone (I had Google Sync installed, but removing it did nothing), resetting the phone, pulling the battery, etc.  I’ve also tried running Desktop Manager as admin and in XP compatibility mode.
Honestly, at this point, I’m at a loss.  If anyone can help, I’d greatly appreciate it.

I just had this issue and figured it out:
1-Go to SETTINGS (the wrench)
2-Go to OPTIONS (the wrench)
3-Choose ADVANCED OPTIONS
4-Choose DEFAULT SERVICES
5-Make sure the Calendar chosen is the correct one.
Mine had defaulted to facebook somehow and threw off the syncing process

• Activity stream in CC desktop manager is not updated

Hello, the activity stream on the Home panel of the Adobe CC desktop manager is not updated. I'm logged, I sync, I reinstalled the Adobe CC manager. I use the same Adobe CC account on another MacBookPro OS X 10.10 and the activity stream in the Home panel is fine.
MacBookAir OSX 10.10.1, Adobe CC (2014), no firewall

I'm having the opposite problem.  All those listed in the screen shot as "Install" have been installed.
Deleting OPM.db and downloading and installing CreativeCloudInstaller.dmg did not fix the issue.
Do I really need to delete all of my installed apps and starting from scratch?

• Cannot completely uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.6

Whenever I try to uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.6,
I get window that is looking for the BlackBerry Desktop Messenger.msi file in c:\Temp\<something>
I downloaded the latest 4.6 from the BlackBerry website, unzipped it and then point to the msi in there.
I get a message that says this is not the correct msi file for this application.
The latest version is B027 and I might have installed an earlier version.
Any thoughts on how to get this completely uninstalled.
Reason is I cannot install 4.6 or 4.7 because it first wants to complete the uninstall.
Further I cannot download the Webex client as it also is looking for this uninstall to complete.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
It sounds like you've got some real PC-level problems there...with all that you've done, I honestly don't know what to advise you at this internet-distance. I do know that, in the past, others have gotten into the same situation you are in and have would up totally reloading their PC OS from scratch in order to clean things up. I hope you don't have to go to that extent. But, several of your statements cause me to have questions...

You can or cannot do the uninstall from the Control Panel? I cannot tell from what you've said. The clean uninstall is documented in the prior-linked KB.

Yup...you've created quite a problem there...you might try re-installing the software, in repair mode (if such is offered), and then perhaps you'll be able to uninstall.

Again, is it or is it not showing in add/remove programs? I cannot tell from what you've said...

• Cannot get Desktop Manager 4.7 to connect to Storm

I have looked at the similar post at this location,
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?
and used its trick of connecting the Blackberry Storm *before* starting Desktop Manager 4.7.  I enter my password, then turn on DM and I get a question of whether to use an old profile, so I say "cancel," i.e. no profile.  It then freezes up, with a terminal and a Blackberry appearing on my Blackberry screen, and "working" on my Blackberry icon on my PC (Windows XP operating system), and the manager menu grayed out.
This Blackberry is for work and as such is set to be connected to its Enterprise server, and I am doing the Desktop Manager operation on my own PC (not the enterprise server).
I do this because I wish to transfer the rather comprehensive Outlook contact list from this Blackberry Storm to a second Blackberry Storm that is my personal one, which IS hooked up for my PC being its server, rather than the one at work.
Maybe there is another way to transfer files, e.g., with a USB drive?
Thank you for any advice you can give.

do I understand your need ?
you have one device that is linked to Exchange with BES. It works perfectly, and especially the contacts are synchronized in real time without requiring the Desktop Manager.
you have another device, and you want to synchronize some of the contacts that are in Outlook to your personal device.
If I were you, I would uninstall the Desktop Manager, and install it again, and only connect the personal device (at some point you have to say "I am using BIS").

• Cannot Load Applications Using Desktop Manager

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8130 (through Verizon) and am running Microsoft XP Professional on the PC. Using the About Blackberry Desktop Manger menu item, I find the Desktop Manager version is 4.3.0.15 (Aug 15 2007), the Device Manager version is 4.3.0.7, the Application Loader version is 4.3.0.13, and the RIM program is 1.0.0.35. The Device Software tab has no software listed, although I have several applications installed.
The problem is that when I try to load a new application, the loader program always gives an error message that it cannot find any new applications even though I point it to a directory that contains both the *.alx and *.cod files. Luckily, so far i have been able to find over the air installation options but that isn't always going to work.
I have spent hours on this problem, mostly on the the Blackberry website, but so far have been unable to find anything that worked. I even did a full reinstall of all of the desktop and device software--a full half day job.
Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be that the desktop manager is generic so as to support all blackberrys but the device software is required for programs that will only work on certain models?
Yep. The Desktop Manager is designed to be universal between BlackBerry Devices, and as handheld code can change for BlackBerry devices often, the configuration files are not included with releases of just the Desktop Manager. You will need to download the relevant handheld code from your carrier to include it.
PITA I know, but its the only way it can be reliably done.
