Cannot export original RAW images in one step

Sigh....
Here we go again. Apple tries dumbing it down for everyone and gets rid of some important stuff in the process.
I used iPhoto as a ground level library for all my photography. And would easily import RAW images to my Lightroom collection.
Now you eliminate what used to be a very easy export process and made it more difficult. WHY TAKE THE "ORIGINAL" OUT OF THE EXPORT MENU? Why only jpeg and png???
I do not get you guys sometimes. Screwed up iMovie, now iPhoto.
Does anyone out there know of a shortcut to export originals without the multistep process required now?  I have 50-100 pix every day to export.
Thank you.

WHY TAKE THE "ORIGINAL" OUT OF THE EXPORT MENU? Why only jpeg and png???
Huh?
File -> Export -> Export Unmodified Original?

Cannot open camera RAW images from Sony DSC-RX100M3 camera.  Working on a Mac with Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7?

    Bruce,
When I made the transition to digital some 8 years ago, I had tremendous help from a number of well documented websites, among which:
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com
I think a lot of stuff there to get you seriously going. Another one is:
    http://www.computer-darkroom.com
I sold all my film based stuff, except a Nikon F3 and a handful of lenses and a Paterson developing tank.
The Nikon suspiciously smells like foam mirror damping strips chemically decaying.
I sold my enlarger over the internet. The word "enlarger" caused me to be on SpamCops blacklist for a while.
I'm in this since the seventies, and I think you'll be as amazed as I was at the possibilities and control you have. And no more bags with $300 worth of film that's consumed in one shoot.
Jump in both feet! you won't be sorry. And these forums are the best help you can get.
    Good luck,
    Rob

  • Problems reverting to original RAW image (ACR 7.3)

My understanding of using Camera RAW is that you never lose the original RAW image as shot by the camera.
I've found out the hard way that this does not seem to be true. I opened a Panasonic RW2 file in ACR 7.3 and, among other adjustments, cropped it.
Now even when I select Camera Raw Defaults from the flyout in ACR I cannot get back to the original uncropped image.
Have I lost that original for good - I thought this was not supposed to happen?
    John

In ACR simply reset the crop by choosing Clear Crop in the cropp tool dropdpwn menu...
If you want to clear ALL settings AND crop, in Bridge you can go to Edit menu, Develop Settings and use the command Clear Settings...that's the quick and easy way of resetting an image.

    Any ideas?

My student has been using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 on her Mac for well over a year. Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images from Lightroom and choosing the "Render using Lightroom option when it popped up in the dialogue box. She has been doing this for over a year and a half without any problem. Today when she hit Command E no dialogue box appeared and the image just opened in Photoshop. I'm concerned that all of her Lightroom edits are not being rendered to Photoshop. Anyone have an idea as to how we can get the "Render using Lightroom" dialogue back?

    Hi Ashley Clavette,
The Initial view setting works perfectly when the file is opened in Acrobat after setting the desired Initial View.
When you upload the file onto Wordpress, and view it on that website in the browser...it might be using a different pdf handler program which might be causing this issue ( it would be helpful, if you could provide the screenshot) , however when you download the pdf again from wordpress server...and open in Acrobat/Reader...then what  exactly happens ?  Does the pdf opens in the desired Initial View setting?

    •  If using Mac OS X (10.7.4), do the following:
    (1) Mac OS X (10.7.4):  Restart Mac, download and install OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo).
    (2) install Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 4.06
    (3) If trouble continues, use your Mac's  > Software Update... menu command to see if newer updates are available.
    (4) If trouble continues after all Apple Updates are applied, contact your camera manufacturer for suggestions.
    •  If using Mavericks, restart Mac, download, and install the latest Digital Camera RAW Compatibility update.
Use your Mac's  > Software Update... menu command to ensure your Mac software is up to date.
If the trouble continues, contact your camera manufacturer.  They may have software for translating their RAW files.

  • How to retrieve original RAW image after cropping and opening RAW file?

    Hi
I have a Canon EOS 350D camera and now have PSE 9.  I have taken some RAW images & imported them into PSE 9 OK.  I know the original RAW image is retained after editing.  However, after cropping a RAW image in the Editor and then "Opening" and "Saving as" a PSD or JPEG, I then close the image in Editor and the cropped image appears in the Organiser.  That is as it should be, I think.  If I then wish to start again from scratch on the original RAW image, it seems to me that I have to manually delete the edited version and the .xmp file in Windows Explorer, and then double click the original RAW file in Windows Explorer, which then opens correctly in PSE 9 Editor.  Can this be done from PSE 9?

When you open the original camera raw image, go to the flyout menu
and choose Camera Raw Defaults, that resets everything but the crop, straighten,
    and rotatate settings.
To get rid of the crop and/or straighten settings, click and hold on the crop tool and choose Clear Crop.
To reset the Image rotation settings, you have manually rotate back using the image rotate buttons.

  • When converting an image from raw to jpeg , the jpeg can look flat compared to the original raw image . Is there anything I can do about this ?

When converting an image from raw to jpeg , the jpeg can look flat compared to the original raw image . Is there any way to prevent this ?

Hi Joe , Thank you for your quick response . I am viewing the jpeg in Microsoft Picture Manager and Flickr. It 's not always really noticeable , but for example if I shoot into the light with dew on the grass , the dew glistens in LRoom and I'm happy with the shot but when I convert it to jpeg ,it looks dull. I have changed the setting to sRGB - from Adobe 1998 ,but don't see much difference.  Kind regards   Alberto.

  • Original RAW image

I do my work in the ACR, click done and go back to Bridge. In Bridge the image has been updated. What if I want to go back to my original RAW image, how can I do that?
    Merrill

From Bridge or Camera Raw? From Bridge, select Edit>Develop Settings>Clear Settings (note this is not undoable). From Camera Raw select the flyout ad Camera Raw Defaults. But you really want to be sure because in both cases, once you clear the settings you'll have to go back and start all over on adjustments...

  • I have lightroom 5 when i cannot import my RAW images. When I tried a blank box for the images are there stating tha the preview for the image is unavailable

I have lightroom 5 and I cannot import my RAW images When I tried a blank box for my images appear stating that my previews is unavailable in this file. When i do hit import it comes out 0 in my catalog

    Jim Hess asked:
And if you use Nikon Transfer to download the images?
    I don't see the answer.

  • Export and then import those images in one step?

I'm slightly annoyed that every time I want to use the export function to create jpeg versions of images, I then have to do the extra step of importing those jpegs into my catalog. Is there some way to do this in one step?
If I need .tiff's of .psd's, I just use the edit in photoshop function, because that has the option to automatically stack with original, but there is no option that I can find for other formats.
    Thanks

Right, then until 2.0 comes out, I'll try the watched folder idea that John suggests. Yea, I was talking about raw files, but also psds or really any "digital neg".
As for the workflow import-process-export, and the final product not needing to be re-imported because it theoretically needs no more processing, this would be fine if one used lightroom to organize digital negs and bridge to organize absolutely everything, including final versions for various media, but I'm glad that adobe has realized that at least some of us use are trying to use lightroom without opening bridge a lot of the time. Although I haven't even tried using bridge that much, maybe there are advantages over lightroom as a central depository.

  • Can you export a raw image to an external editor?

Just wondering if Aperture 2 will allow you to edit a raw image in an external editor (Nikon Capture NX) as a raw image not as a tiff?
    Thanks.

    Shannon,
It would appear that this cannot be done, due to no option for that file type when exporting a Version, and the file type is only available when exporting a Master, which by definition does not have the adjustments.
To start a new topic you must open one of the forums within the Aperture group, such as Aperture Installation, Setup and General Usage. Then you will find a Link near the top left to Post New Topic.

  • Reverting to original RAW image in ACR

In the past I have almost always used Nikon's Capture NX2 as my RAW editor. In that, it's immediately obvious how to get back to the original NEF camera image, or even choose to go back to different stages in the editing history.
There seems no obvious way to do this in ACR. For example I made a mistake in a RAW edit, but when I reopened the RAW image again from Bridge I got the edited version with the unwanted error.
I would appreciate some guidance on this. In an ideal world, I would like ACR to do what Nikon Capture can do.
I have also just found that, when trying to assign a keyword to this file in Bridge, I got got an "...error writing metadata" message. All the other NEF files in that folder (none of which have yet been edited in ACR) accepted the keywords with no problems.
Since writing the above, I have found that this "error writing metadata" is a common issue for which there seems no solution - it extends back to earlier versions of Bridge (I have CS6 64-bit with vety latest updates).
I have deleted the sidecar file for the file in question, but the error remains.
I cannot help being a little concerned about what ACR actually does to the file. Maybe I'll go back to Capture NX2 (not without its own problems) unless there are some solutions to these issues.

There are several ways to go back/edit history.
In Bridge, select the photo you edited in ACR. You can see the Edited symbol above the photo upper right.
Go to Edit menu, Develop Settings, Clear Settings.
In ACR you can also make Snapshots of different times in your editing session.
Go the Snapshot tab (the rightmost tab) in ACR. Click the New Snapshot icon in the bottom right and name the snapshop. You then can go back to a previous edit by simply clicking its tab. The caveat is that you need to manually add these Snapshots as you go along.
You can also go back to an earlier edit and Open the Image in Photoshop while still retaining the later edit shapshots in ACR
Lighroom has a real time history that you can go back to a previous edit. This history is automatic. I'm not sure if the history is retained after the file is closed and then reopened. I tend to think not, but you can also create Snapshots in Lightroom.
