Cannot export RAW files in correct sequence

I am trying to export copies of a projects RAW photos to a folder on my desktop. I want them to be copies of the origianl RAW files, but re-name them in numerical order and have them numbered in the same order they are in my folder (time sequence).
Each time I export these RAW images, they seam to be exported very randomly, and they are out of order each time.

Nobody else is experiencing this????

    Useing a PC
    Have Photoshop CS5
Suddenly cannot move Raw Files from Bridge (or anywhere else) into photoshop.
I Can move Jpegs into ps the only issue is with Raw files
I did get error1 message but as do not know what that means its no help
    any suggestions?

Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

  • I am having trouble exporting .raw files to an external storage device.  Even though I export "original" they end up as jpeg files.  Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I am having trouble exporting .raw files from my Mac Book Air to an external storage device.  Even though I am exporting as "original" they are being exported as jpegs.  Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?

Using the "original" setting is the correct way to do it.  Select on of the photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  That will take you to the file inside the library via the Finder.  Confirm that what you see if the raw file.
If it is then try the following:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Exporting RAW files to desktop corrupts them

I just purchased a new macmini intel 2 core duo 2 gHZ upgraded to 2 GB Ram and I run Leopard 10.5.7 with iPhoto 09
The store where I purchased my macmini transferred all the contents from my old macmini core 2 duo 1.83 gHZ hard disc to my new macmini's hard disc.
Here's the problem: When I export a RAW file from iPhoto to my desktop ( export as "Original") the RAW file is often corrupted by a horizontal band or stripe of color across the image. The strange thing is that it does not have this stripe or band across it every time. It does this about half the time. I experimented by exporting the same RAW file to my desktop a few times. In about 2 cases out of 5 the exported RAW file displays the colored stripe or band. If I export as Jpeg or Tiff it does not happen.
The band is always in a different place. Here are 2 screenshots I took of what it looks like:

    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards
    Fred

OK..I contacted Apple Support here i Holland by phone and they ran through a whole trouble shooting program with me. Then they downloaded RAW files from a site that has RAW files for all types of cameras including the camera I use Panasonic DMC L1
They then did imported the RAW files into their Macmini at Apple support and found that they experience the exact same issues as I reported on my own Macmini. So the problem is not with my particular Macmini but somewhere in the iPhoto 09 software. They will now send these findings to Apple in Ireland and other Apple centres that address these issues. Then a solution will be sought and probably some kind of update to correct it will be issued. Hopefully this issue will be gone in SnowLeopard.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 and cannot open Raw files from my Canon EOS 1000D camera.

I am using Photoshop Elements 9 on a Windows 7 based PC and would like to know why I cannot open Raw files produced by my Canon EOS 1000D camera.
I have checked the version of the plug in as 6.5 for raw files which is supposed to open .cr2 files and should be compatible according to Adobe site info.
    any ideas for next move.
    Mick

    Hi,
According to all of Adobe's charts, the Canon 1000D should be supported by the basic PSE 9 even without updates. When you said you checked the camera raw version in PSE, did you do that by going to the Help menu and selecting About plugins -> Camera raw?
The Canon 1200D requires ACR 8.4 which is only compatible with PSE 12 - so for PSE 10 your brother would need the DNG converter.
I can't find a sample raw file to try (I do have PSE 9). If you want to upload a sample file to dropbox and give me access, I could try it on my system.
Have you tried opening one of your files on your brothers system?

  • Just bought Canon 40d - Use CS2 - Cannot read Raw files in Bridge

Heading says it all really. Just purchased new Canon 40D Body and have been using CS2 on Mac OS 10.4 for over two years. Cannot read RAW files in Photoshop Bridge which is what I have used consistently with 20D files up to now. Quick search on Google brought up fact that Adobe had not up upgraded Bridge to read new 40D files but that was 2 years ago. Am now looking for plug-in! Can anyone help or am I now forced to upgrade my CS2 or move away to Aperture or Lightroom? Any help gratefully received. Rob

The 40d is not supported by any version of Camera Raw that can run in CS2.  You need at least CS3 and ACR 4.2 or greater.
Dowload the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 5.3 and convert the raw files from your 40d to raw DNGs first, then you can open the DNG files in ACR 3.7 hosted by CS2.

  • Cannot open raw files on CS4 extended even with plug in

Cannot open raw files from canon eos 400d in photoshop Cs4 extended. I have updated camera raw plug in and DNG converter but still no luck! I cannot get the images off the camera onto a file. Help, images of my 5 month old daughter are on the camera from when she was born!

    >I cannot get the images off the camera onto a file.
I presume you're on PC (since you don't bother to give that rather critical bit of info). On Windows you'll have to set your camera to be a mass storage device in order to even see the raw files. Best bet is use a card reader as you really shouldn't be trying to transfer image files directly from the camera. It's really slow and as you've found out, it's not "easy" like a card reader.

  • I cannot open raw files in elements 10

i cannot open raw files in elements 10

The 650D wasn’t supported until ACR 7.2 that was released the beginning of October 2012.
Adobe only updates ACR for their current version of Elements, which is PSE 11, not 10.
So you’ll either need to update to PSE11 or use the DNG Converter 7.2 to convert your CR2 files to DNGs and open them in the older version of ACR.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106 <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows> &platform=Windows
Another alternative would be to get Photoshop Lightroom which doesn’t cost a lot more than Elements and will give you more raw processing capabilities, and you’ll still be able to do Edit in Photoshop Elements for any pixel editing with your older version of Elements:

  • PSE 8 cannot open RAW files

    I use Canon 1000D and S90.
I have an iMac with PSE 8 installed.
I download the RAW files via an USB cable and acces them via the hard drive.
When I double click on a CR2 file in Bridge, PSE 8 states that it does not recognize this type of file.
I searched the Adobe FAQ / help sections and followed the instructions given there, i.e. deleted the Camera Raw plug-in and re-installed PSE8.
Consequently, I now have Camera Raw Version 6.2.0.29.
However, I still cannot acces RAW files.
In addition to PSE 8 I have LR3 (version 3.4.1) installed with Camera Raw 6.4.1. - I cannot import RAW files here either (I am a complete novice in LR3).
Checked for updates in both programs and downloaded and installed all available.
Suggestions on how to solve this will be very much appreciated.

In Bridge I double click on the CR2 file - and it is not recognised in PSE 8.
If I skip the Bridge part (and close Bridge down) and attempt to open directly from PSE 8 via File - open I can see the picture, but it is sort of dimmed (like in not active or accesible).
    The two options below say:
    Enable: All readable documents
    Format: Photoshop Raw
The option "Open" is dimmed out and not available.
If I change the Enable option till "All documents" - the CR2 file is not dimmed, however, the "open" button is still not active.

  • I have Elements 8. I have bought A Nikon D750 and take Raw files. I have downloaded Raw 8.8 file converter, but cannot open Raw files

I have Elements 8. Raw converter for my previous Nikon D300s worked ok. Now I have D750 cannot open Raw files. I have downloaded lastest Raw converter from Adobe 8.8
Still cannot open Raw file. Get message "cannot open as it is wrong type of file" How do I get the latest Raw converter to work with Elements 8? Any info gratefully received.

Are you saying you converted from NEF to DNG? If so, after you convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format, the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Another way of exporting Raw files directly to ACR

    Hello,
I just stumbled on this workaround for Aperture´s failure to export RAW-files directly to Adobe Camera Raw converter.
I use iView Mediapro to keep my digital files archived. iView is able to catalogue every photograph of my Aperture library. In fact apertures library shows up in iView as a folder called "Aperture Library.aplibrary". All images apear in iView´s browser. I can now select any RAW file and right click to choose an application to open it. I choose ACR and it opens like a breese.

  • Export RAW files from iPad to NAS

    Hello everyone,
I've been a while wondering if it is possible to quit personal computers for my Photo Workflow, that involves RAW file formats. The ideal workflow should be like this:
    Take a photo in RAW+JPEG.
Import the photo in an iPad Air 2 with iOS 8 via SD Card Adapter.
Work with the image with the existing RAW editing apps, Like Photogene 4 or SnapSeed.
Save the original RAW and edited stuff in a Synology NAS.
The problem is the fourth step. It's impossible for me to extract them intact from iPad to NAS. I had recently a false positive when I found FileBrowser, which is a Finder-like app that let's you take RAWs from an album and copy to a network storage. BUT surprise! The filesize of that files is EXACTLY the same of the JPGs, around 2,5 MB, so these .CR2 files have been altered.
¿Is there some way to export RAW files from an iPad?

The following claims to transfer RAW. Not sure that it will work in the circumstance you describe but may be something to check out: http://www.photosync-app.com/photosync/en/features.html#cluster_1
