Cannot export to quicktime or send to youtube

Hi All,
This is a new problem. I have been doing this for months with no issue until this month.
It seems to have started when a preso I sent to youtube only went up partly. Instead of the full 20 minutes or so, it only took the first minute and a half. However, no error messages were returned. I actually assumed it all worked fine till one of my viewers pointed out it was cut short.
For the next preso I did, I just started getting an error message that the disk was full or the video file was bad. This happens when trying to send to youtube. I tried exporting via quicktime, but the resulting file ends up with no sound and is clearly causing quicktime some trouble. Quicktime menus slow to respond and quicktime just seems to be working hard on something when it should not be. It does NOT do this with other quicktime movies I have that have come from other sources. Then sometimes, exporting to quicktime will result in the same error I got when sending to youtube.
Any ideas on what the heck is going on here?
R

Ok guys, here is the solution.
The culprit is Quicktime 7.5
I took my system back to 7.4 and now find everything is working fine.
Here is a link to an article that outlines the process. It is basically as easy as downloading "Pacifist" and the Quicktime 7.4.5 installer. But this article gives the details.

  • Cannot export to Quicktime anymore. Please help.

    Hi all,
    I did some maintenance on my computer recently and now I can no longer export to Quicktime format.  The maintenance involved deleting old footage plus a bunch of "Media Cache Files," which were taking up nearly 90 gigs of space.  90 gigs!  I guess over the years it built up!  This was the first time I ever messed with these files, in fact I didn't even know they existed until recently.  I found them within the following file structure:
    AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Common > Media Cache Files
    I did some research before deleting them and everything I read said it was ok to do so, but ever since I haven't been able to export to QT in Premiere Pro or After Effects.  Premiere gives me the error message, " Unable to create or open output file."  I reinstalled QT, but that didn't help.
    I normally don't export to Quicktime format unless I'm doing some animation projects in After Effects, which is what I'm working on now.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    I've tried changing the export destination, but that doesn't help, and I don't have a problem exporting to other formats.
    I've never tried using AME as a convertor.  I'm not sure that's the ultimate solution to my problem, but I'm curious enough to give it a try.  How would I do that?

  • Cannot export to Quicktime in Premiere Pro CS5

    This problem has been addressed before, but the solution, to simplify the name of the file, is not working for me.
    I am not able to export to Quicktime.  The error is "Unable to create or open an output file."
    Here are my parameters:
    Premiere Pro CS5, recently updated.
    Windows 7, recently updated.
    PC HP Pavilion desktop
    Source footage is HDV in an mp4 codec via the CS5 timeline.
    I have disabled my anti-virus software (ESET).
    I have no other video-related programs running.
    Clips appear in the Export screen (for preview) perfectly.
    Exporting to any other codec or container, including H.264 (an Apple product) works fine.  To make things
    a little more interesting, the last time I tried to export to Quicktime (a year ago) I was using PPr CS4.  Export
    to Quicktime worked perfectly well.  Now it does not.  Now when I activate "start queue" in Media
    Encoder for CS4, the green check mark appears without the clips being encoded at all. Once again, CS4
    encodes to other codecs perfectly well.
    Sounds like in the intervening year I may have downloaded some interfering software, but like editors
    everywhere, I download a lot of these things.  Finding the culprit would take days (weeks!). Are there
    any prime suspects?
    Alternatively, are there any other ways to export in high quality to let Mac users easily access PC
    generated footage?

    Mac users are the ones who choose to use an OS which creates this type of compatibility issue.  Honestly, I'd just create an AVI and let them solve the problem.
    Your clients must really appreciate you as a great "solution providor" Jim!

  • Cannot export to QuickTime file with PE8

    Hello,
    I have an issue when I want to export my video choosing My Computer, QuickTime. The e^port cannot start, APE8 stop immediatly after launching export (message : unxpected errors; PE8 must closed).
    I already uninstall and reinstall Quicktime (last version), same pb. I also uninstall and reinstall PE8, with the update, same issue.
    I do not know what to do.
    I cannot have files MOV to export to Youtube (also the direct export to Youtube from PE8 is still not working, I have a serveur error, already dscribed by other members, but means to have no solution)
    Eric

    I'm sorry, Eric. I have no solution for you. If your computer is crashing whenever you select Share/Computer/Quicktime and your unable to install a program update, there may be a problem at the operating system level.
    How fast is your processor, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean, defragmented space is onyour C drive?
    The best solution, assuming your computer is well tuned, would be to upgrade to version 11 of the program. Version 8 was notoriously buggy and does not work at all well with AVCHD video.
    Video 11 edits AVCHD natively and has been optimized for this format. You may be able to find a good deal on the software on Amazon. It would certainly save you a lot of aggravation if you spent the few dollars on it.

  • Keynote '08 cannot export as Quicktime movie

    I purchased KN '08 to create presentations. It is updated to version 4.0.2. I have tried for the last 3 hours to export my presentation as a Quicktime movie. No matter what functions I turn off, or change, nothing seems to work. In fact, after the 3rd attempt, Keynote erased some photos out of my presentation. When I tried to re-add them, Keynote said it couldn't because I didn't have access to the file, or there was damage to the files. Luckily I had back-ups I could access.
    Is there a way to make this work? Why would Apple put out a product like this that doesn't work?
    Robby

    ditto. I have not been able export any of my presentations. Also, I could not get the recording to work consistently and correctly. I can't even get my PowerMac G5 with 5 GB RAM to play the slide show correctly.
    I found that the only work around is using Snapz Pro X while stepping through the the slide show. This creates a high quality QT movie.
    Keynote is not the only problem. Quick Time does not work properly either. Some movies, even high def movies, play flawlessly and some I take at only 640 x 480 gives me a "strobing" (flashing of white). This has happened in movies added to Keynote, movies streamed through Safari, and even some movies played in Quick Time Pro itself.
    I thought I had a lemon MacBook Pro, since I'm now on my third logic board/video card since I purchased last July, but I think it is also a software issue. I was hoping that Leopard would magically repair the problems with Quick Time, but it has not.
    Any suggestions in how to fix this would be appreciated. Why does some QT play without a problem and others so nasty? What is the ideal settings for a QT export? What is ideal resolution for movies included in Keynote to play without "strobing"?

  • Cannot export to Quicktime after upgrade 9.4.3

    I saw another thread about this but what they suggested is not working for me. I am also a professional photographer who has been using iphoto as a quick way to create a slideshow to bring into iMovie or FCP for tweaking. Yesterday the option for 'custom export' was there after going under File > Export > Slideshow > Display now there is only one export button showing and when you click it, it does just that, exports to M4v, which is of no use to me whatsoever.
    Please tell me I am missing something here....
    Thanks in advance....

    Use the Export button at the bottom of the slideshow window:

  • Keynote 08 will not finish export to quicktime, or share with any apps

    I have a presentation that I am using a smartbuild (160 photos) that will not finish exporting to quicktime, or share with youtube or iweb/idvd, etc. It saved once out of twenty attempts. It freezes up around the last photo in the smartbuild then quits unexpectedly. Any tips?

    The other work around that I've found is to tell it "send to iDVD" but then quit iDVD when it pops that up. You'll end up with just the quicktime file it created.
    What I noticed is that when a "quicktime export" plays in QT, it has a fps rate of like 7 or 8 or even 13 but the dynamic "playing fps" goes up to 30 during transitions and back to 0 when there isn't a transition. At least with the iDVD cheat you end up with 24 fps. That may work for some people, that is film rate, but I'm in need of NTSC DV 29.97. So I import it into Final Cut Express, and do an export conversion.
    I don't use audio, so I don't know how that would work in this cheat, but since your voiceover (I'm guessing based on trying to put music to my slides) is one entire track, you can add that in FCE before that export and line it up there.
    If anyone else has suggestions to get a 29.97 export correct with the "export to quicktime", I'd love to hear it. This cheat takes too long for my work.

  • Cannot load movie with subtitles and export in QuickTime 10 / Os X Lion

    Since Os X Lion, when trying to load a movie (DivX) in QuickTime 10 at the same time that the related subtitles file (.srt) is in the same folder as the movie, QT 10 suggests to use QT 7. QT 10 cannot load the movie with subtitles (in Snow Leopard everything was OK). Q& 7 is useless too because it cannot export movies to another format.
    Anybody has a solution for this? Thanks for your help!

    I do this because Perian don't work with QT10 on Mac OS X Lion:
    -Try to open .avi movie with QT 10;
    -OS X ask you to open on QT 7;
    -Donwload QT 7 and install it. It will be installed on "Utilities";
    -Download Perian but don't install it;
    -Mount Perian, and click "Show Package Contents"
    -Go to "Contents"->"Resources"->"Components"->"CoreAudio" and copy to Desktop "A52Codec.zip" and unzip it;
    -Go to"Contents"->"Resources"->"Components" and copy to Desktop "Perian.zip" and unzip it;
    -Go to "Contents"->"Resources"->"Components"->"CoreAudio"->Quicktime" and copy to Desktop "AC3MovieImport.zip" and unzip it;
    -Then copy all packages with ".component" extention to /Library/Quicktime/;
    -Then you can run all movies on QT 7.
    Or,
    -Install MPlayerX;
    Or,
    -Install VLC;
    Or,

    The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
    Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
    However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
    Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
    I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

  • Share to youtube/export to quicktime dialog box questions

    In Share to YouTube, or export to quicktime, you get a dialog box that says:
    Playback Uses: Fixed Timing
    Slide Duration: 5 seconds
    Build Duration: 2 second
    The keynote presentation is built with all the correct timings that I don't want to change, so I guess I don't understand this questions. I would want the presentation to follow the timings build into the elements and page transitions.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

  • Cannot export quicktime movie from iPhoto

    latest imac (brand new)
    iphoto slideshow...
    when i try to export a slideshow as a quicktime movie...it renders the quicktime movie...then when it goes into the "saving" phase...it just keeps saving and never ends...
    but it will let me save a high quality mp4 movie...
    it seems to be something with the quicktime format
    (i posted to the iphoto forum...no replies...it seems to relate the quicktime format...so thought maybe someone here could help)

    I had the same problem and figured it out. I had a FLA from the office and took it home to work on. At the office I was exporting to a folder on the staging server and had my SWF and HTML Publish settings set up that way. At home I tried to export the same FLA to quicktime (along came the aforementioned error). I made a folder on my local drive, set my publish settings for my SWF and HTML to export there, published, and low and behold, I was able to export to Quicktime. Problem solved.

  • Cannot Export Keynote to Quicktime

    When i try and export a the keynote into quicktime, the result is not as intended. i have recored a video inside of keynote, with animations and different timings. the video is around 8 mins long. when i export it to quicktime, i get a video of 4 seconds in lenght. this is the screen shot of the options i get when i click "File", "Export to", "Quicktime".
    any help would be much appreciated

    The export options show that the QuickTime export will take the timings of the transitions from the "recording";  every time you press the enter, spacebar or right arrow key, Keynote will advance to the next event.
    The recorded timings are wrong, you therefor need to clear the timings and record them again:
    1 - Inspector > Document > Audio > click the clear button
    2 - click record
    3 - click the red start record button at the bottom left, wait for the countdown to finish then press the enter key every time you want to advance to the next event.
    4 - when your reach the last slide, click the record button again, then click the X button top right
    test the timings are correct by playing the presentation from slide 1

  • Keynote 08 - problem exporting to Quicktime (no sound or video clip)

    Hi
    Having just spent a long time making and narrating a training slideshow intended for a screencast using Keynote 08 (4.0.3) I choose to export the show as a quicktime movie with the recording timings and recording narrative soundtrack. A screenshot of my settings is below.
    The problems I have are:
    1. The recorded narration is not present in the QT Mov file
    2. A video animation of an embedded movie (screen capture) displays the first frame but does not play automatically
    The show works fine if I play it in Keynote, but this is no good as I want to put it on the web!
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    If anyone has any ideas or similar experiences, please let me know
    Thanks
    Nick

    Just thought I would add my voice to the chorus... I am having the same problem.
    Also note that this error will prevent you from being able to "Send To">"YouTube" as well.
    I am seeing the exact same issues reported here by everyone else. Not sure what update screwed this up, but it was working fine less than a month ago (I do a series of 5 keynote presentations each month and it worked for the first one I did on June 7 but has not worked for the last two I tried).
    I am also in need of a fast solution for this. I am pretty much dead in the water till I get a solution going.
    My flash export also results in out of sync audio. Do I have to dig up powerpoint?
    Also, it looks as if Quicktime is having a hard time with the file. Quicktime suddenly becomes very sluggish (IE: tons of delay when you click on menus or on pause when the keynote export is playing). Quicktime is NOT having these problems with video files from other sources.

  • IMovie 11 - Export Using Quicktime - File Disappears after Export......

    Hey everyone:
    I've got a weird one here.  I've made my first project using iMovie.  I want to burn a DVD, so I clicked >>Share >> iDVD and it comes over fine.  I then setup a menu and stuff and burned it.  However, when I play it on my 52" plasma, it doesn't fit correctly.  It fills the screen, but it's almost like it's zoomed in so it cuts off of ALL edges.
    So I did some research and found this post and went to try it out.  So within iMovie, I click "share using Quicktime" and change some of the various settings and export the movie as a Quicktime (.MOV) file to my "Movies" folder.  The movie is about 55 minutes, it says it'll take about 35 minutes to export.
    35 minutes later I come back and the export box has closed, iMovie is still open, just like it should be, and the file I just exported is nowhere to be found.  It just disappears.  The second and third time I tried, I open a Finder window and watch the file get created, then get larger, and larger.  But once it's done, the file is gone.
    So then I created a new project and made a movie that was only 10 minutes long.  It exports fine and the file is there when it's done.  In other words, I can't replicate the problem with a new project.  However, I have a lot of time in editing this movie and don't want to start over for fear of finding the same result.
    What should I do?
    Thanks!

    I have this same problem and there are several threads running about it.  I have the paid-for version of iMovie, and cannot even get it to export a Quicktime movie.  This makes it even more useless than I already find it to be.  I spent the last two days working on a video, and for me to send it to my client, I would have to freight my computer to them so they could view it.

  • Exporting using Quicktime - but file never appears??

    Ever since I downloaded the latest iMovie '11 software update (9.0.7), every time I try to export using Quicktime, it takes two hours to export, shows no error messages of any kind, but the exported film NEVER shows up where I saved it to (or anywhere else on my computer). Has anyone else had this problem?
    I can't export using any of the other options because the film is so large (the Quicktime export compresses it enough to upload to Vimeo, while exporting it straight to Vimeo does not). The Quicktime export (and all the settings still in place) worked perfectly before I installed the 9.0.7 update.
    I need to get this film off my computer pronto. Please help???

    Hi Mike:
    Apologies for the long delay in response; have been working on other things of course.
    I don't know how to use OS X's postscripting feature, but I did try and succeeded in creating a .ps file. When I try to open the file, however, it tells me there is a postscript conversion error and the file cannot be converted to pdf.
    Manually distilling the file is exactly where the problem arises.
    For giggles, I tried to select the OS X's pdf'ing feature instead of postscript or distilling, and it worked instantly! The dimensions are correct when I open it up, and the file size is large enough to indicate to me that the resolution is likely sufficiently high. I would not know for sure of course until finding out the hard way after sending it to the printers, but it seems to be a use-able file.
    So, it seems that this is a pseudo-solution, at least so that I have a tool to bypass the problem when I next encounter it; however, I wonder if you have any ideas about how to actually fix the glitch? Does it have to do with the sorts of images that reside in the KeyNote file; if so, which file types does pdf not like and should be avoided?
    Thanks,
    Heide
