Cannot fax after 10.5.7 update

Question

When I try to fax after the 10.5.7 update using the external modem the process stops with saying "preparing fax ..." and the fax marked as used in the print & Fax. The modem reacts on calls from the outside. When I put the modem on my laptop with 10.5.6 I can still send a fax with it.
Any idea? (I reset already the print system and reinstalled the fax)

It is true that as of now the faxing protocol is broken and you cannot send a fax when listening for a faxed to be received at the same time. You must stop listening for faxes by un-checking the "receive faxes on this computer" box in the fax/external modem preferences under Receive Options. You can then send a fax regularly. Then, when you are finished sending your faxes, you will need to re-check the "receive faxes on this computer" box in order to automatically listen for and receive incoming faxes.
