  • My HP officejet 6000 E609n wireless does not print on envelopes.

My HP officejet 6000 E609n wireless does not print on envelopes.  When I send an envelope address from the Microsoft Word envelope app, the envelope loads and then it  is send through the printer without printing on the envelope.  If instead of loading an envelope I load a plain sheet of 8x10.5 paper it will print the address as it should (side ways and on what would be an envelope).  I have had no problem printing envelope to my old DeskJet 930C with this Word envelope app.
I load the envelopes without the 8x10.5 paper and the paper guide moved over to the edge of the envelopes up which are against the right side of the load table as indicated on the tray guide.

After many frustrating and fruitless attempts to solve this problem, including updating the drivers and following so many bits of advice from so many sources including contacting HP customer services by phone and email (who have not, so far, shown the courtesy of acknowledging my enquiry), I seem to have overcome the problem by cutting a piece of A4 paper along its length to a width, which when added to the envelope’s height, equals the width of an A4 sheet. For example, I use DL envelopes which have a nominal width of 110mm so the width of the piece of paper cut from A4 (which is 210 mm wide) is 100 mm. This strip is then temporarily attached to the envelope by piece of low tack tape (such as masking tape) running along and joining the paper and the envelope tabs. I feed this assembly of strip and envelope into the printer in the default position, (i.e. the envelope on the right hand side of the tray, face down with the sealing tabs on the left). The printer seems to treat this assembly as a piece of A4 and prints the address etc on the envelope correctly. The envelope is then easily detached from the tape without damage and I have found that this works many times as sufficient tack remains on the tape. I know this sounds a little complicated but it soon becomes a simple task.
The HP Officejet 6000 printer has previously worked splendidly, printing envelopes from the Word 2007 envelopes function running on XP but has only recently malfunctioned since changing to Windows 7. For the record, I have also tried to print envelopes using the Word compatibility mode without success.

  • Officejet 6000 e609n cannot convert to from USB to wireless

I am attempting to convert the connection to my Officejet 6000 E609n printer from USB to wireless (XP Pro SP3).  After going to the HP icon on my Application Menu and navigating to the “Configure Wireless Settings” the following sequence of events occur: 1) A window with the title “Installing Officejet 6000 e609n” opens.  As it opens the progress bar shows set 3 of 4.  2) A window titled “Network Setup” opens with an instruction “Temporarily connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.”  A box in the lower left corner of the window is to be checked if you printer is already connected via USB cable.  (Mine is, and has been for some time.)  3) After checking the box and pressing NEXT, another window opens to select the printer being installed.  The HP Officejet 6000 e609n series is the only printer listed.  I select it, and press Next.) This message comes up: “Selected printer is not present. Please connect the printer and press Retry or press Cancel to select another.”  I then cancel my way out of setup.  I can print a test page and other jobs from the computer via the USB connection – no problems.  What could be causing this?  FYI I have gone thru the reset routine, no change. I could not find a similar situation on the wireless printer forms.

I am having the same prob. No resolve yet.

Ok, since you get the error "The selected printer is not present." during the installation, here is some troubleshooting that should help narrow down the cause/resolve the issue:

  • Officejet 6000 (E609n) won't print anything

I'm running Windows 7, SP1 and have my E609n hooked up via usb, with the wireless off.
My power button is flashing continuously, with no other lights coming on. Every 30 seconds or so it produces a sound that sounds like a single cycle of the roller. Print jobs spool, but the printer never changes state.  If I lift the lid the print head moves over and the power light goes solid with the paper feed light soild. When I close the lid it goes back to just the power light flashing.
I've reset the printer with the unplug/hold power button method and reset the print spooler. When I power the printer back up it cycles normally and returns to power light flashing state when it's done booting. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer from my system. No change.
It's out of warranty, so I'm curious if there's anything else I might be able to do. Thanks.

    Hi @panicbot
I see your power button is flashing continuously, with no other lights on. Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue; Blinking Lights on the HP Officejet 6000 (E609a) and 6000 Wireless (E609n) Printers.
    I hope this helps.

  • Windows 8 driver cannot find HP Officejet Pro L7590 ethernet printer on my new router

I'm changing to a new router and had to change the IP address of my ethernet Officejet Pro L7590 from fixed assigned 192.168.1.7 into fixed assigned 192.168.2.168 (my new provider provided router doesn't support the 192.168.1.xx range). At installation my PC Driver cannot find my HP Officejet Pro L7590 ethernet printer, both not by it's search function, nor by giving the specific new IP address.  Browsing and login into the printer by adressing the new Static IP address works however fine: de printer is well attached. What do I wrong with at PC driver installation, any suggestions to have the printer coupled to the PC driver?
Update: Connecting the printer directly to the router instead of via a switch solved  the problem!

The Officejet Pro L7590 unfortunately will not be updated to support AirPrint. Check out my [FAQ|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2658560&tstart=0] thread for some other options.
    Just trying to help.

  • HP Officejet 6000 E609n stops printing periodically on wireless network

I have a Dell laptop with 64 bit Windows 7 on our wireless network.  I recently installed this printer on the network. It will print documents I send to it, and then suddenly subsequent documents pile up in the printer que and have "error" listed beside the document names.  When I troubleshoot this problem from the printer window, it cannot resolve the problem. The blue wireless light is not on, and pushing that button does not turn it on; I can fix it, by unplugging the printer and plugging it back in, then the blue wireless light comes on, and it prints all the documents in the que, and will continue printing new docs sent over to it for a while, and then suddenly they pile up in the que, and it will no longer print until I unplug it.  Could a firewall be the cause or what?  I get no messages from the printer telling me that the document failed to print.

I have thesame problem with my c6180
I have to re download the driver. then it works fine foe a while and quits. i redown load the driver and again it works for a while.
if this keeps up i will never buu an HP again

  • HP Officejet 6000 will not connect to new wireless modem.

I have Windows 8.1.  My HP Officejet 6000 E609n wireless printer worked well, until the modem died and a new one was installed (new address).  I need to know how to make it recognize the new network address.  (Note: I tried to install the original setup software, but the CD would not run under Windows 8).

  • Cannot print wirelessly from Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop to Officejet 6000 Wireless (E609n)

The printer is a HP Officejet 6000 Wireless (E609n) and is connected via usb to a Windows 7 (64 bit) desktop and the laptop has Windows 7 (64 bit) loaded.
No changes were made that I'm aware of other than the usual Windows updates.
Server is offline is displayed next to the printer icon on the laptop when printing is attempted.
The wireless network test report shows no problems.
I have rebooted the desktop and printer with no success.
The laptop used to print wirelessly without a problem.

I am not sure the Officejet 6000 can have both the wireless and USB ports active at the same time.  You could try disconnecting for the USB cable and then power cycling the printer and trying to connect wirelessly.  If you have the desktop connected to a router that also provices wireless capability you could connect the desktop with the network connection.
One other thing you might consider is sharing the printer on your network from the desktop computer.  Next on the laptop computer do the following: go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the computer and printer), OK, then select HP (not Hewlett-Packard) for the manufacturer and select the appropriate HP Officejet 6000 series model.

  • Setting up my macbook pro to hp officejet 6000 wireless printer

Having trouble getting my macbook pro (new) to print from printer.    Have USB plugged to printer and the wireless modem (no desktop setup).  Was able to intially print then it started showing printer not connected.   If I plug USB to the macbook vs. the wireless cable modem, I can print.
I do get an ip address.
    Thank you.
    CEBD

    Hi CEBD,
Thank you for your reply! As Mac OS X 10.10 was just released yesterday, there is currently no HP Software and Drivers for this Operating System! However, if your HP Officejet 6000 was previously connected to your network, all you should have to do is to add the printer as a wireless printer. Please see this guide, OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer. You can also watch this youtube video, Installing an HP Printer in Mac OS X Mavericks Using a Wired or Wireless Network Connection.
Please see this post, Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite and HP Printer Support, by @Double-U-Dee.
I would also take a look at this guide, 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X, and follow the steps for 10.8 and 10.9.
Hope this information is helpful, and have a great day!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600...laptop cant find printer to set up wireless printing

I just purchased an HP officejet Pro 8600 and successfully synched it to a laptop in my office for wireless printing without a problem. Immediately after that, I attempted to connect the printer to another laptop in the office and the 2nd laptop cannot find it even when I type in the IP address manually. Both laptops are the exact same model and both laptops and printer are all successfully connected to the same router. I've tried almost everything and still can't figure out whats going on. Please advise. Thanks.

    Hello-
What Operating System are you running ?? Is there any Firewalls on the second PC ?? Are you running any VPN's on the second PC ??

  • System cannot find file specified during install officejet 6500

I started my HP solution center software today to do some scanning over my wireless connection.  I received a message box indicating I needed to reinstall the original software that came with my OfficeJet 6500 wireless 709n printer.  when I started the software it recieved the message 'system cannot find file specified'.  No information was given on what file it was looking for.  I then downloaded the software from the HP site (OJ_AIO_6500_E709_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe) and encountered the same result.  I hookup up my printer via USB and it appeared to go looking for driver updates.  After that the HP solution center software would run but would only connect to my printer if the USB was connected.  Still cannot run the printer software set.
I recently upgraded my windows 8 64-bit to window 8.1.  It worked before that.  This is not the only software that was broken by the process.  Any help on how I can re-establish my wireless connection to my Officejet 6500 would be appreciated.
I also tried the Microsoft 'Fixit' solutions but they are not available for windows 8.1 :-)...

    Hello All,
Try using the scrubber built into the CD or download.
    From original CD installation:
    1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer.
    2. Open  "Computer", and then right click on the CD drive and choose open.
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
    5. Run the L3uninstall.exe (near the bottom of the list).
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    8. Restart the computer.
    9. Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard.
    10. When it comes to the screen asking to accept the terms, don't yet. There will be a few options near the top of the Window. I need you to choose "Connection settings" or "Internet connection usage settings" (It will be something similar to what I just stated). It will give you the options to turn off automatic updates, I will need you to change all of these options to "Off" / "No".
    11. Once they're set to "Off" / "No", continue with the installation like you did before.
If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
    1. Type %temp% in the run field
    2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
    5. Run the L3uninstall.exe (near the bottom of the list).
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    8. Restart the computer.
    9. Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard.
    10. When it comes to the screen asking to accept the terms, don't yet. There will be a few options near the top of the Window. 11. Once they're set to "Off" / "No", continue with the installation like you did before.
Also, make sure all of the Windows Updates have been completed.
Let me know if this works.

  • HP Officejet 6000 wireless printer

I want to print to my (E609n) network printer from my IPad. The printer is configured as a network printer with a eithernet cable to my Westell Model 7500 router. My desktop is wired eithernet and it prints OK. My HP laptop is wireless and it prints OK there also. When I check for printers via the IPad, no printers show up. I did check and HP didn't have the Officejet 6000 listed as AirPrint capable. I there a workaround to this, or an app avalible to allow printing to this printer from the IPad?

    Hi Lon001,
This is probably the document you were referring to:

The ePrint mobile app, the app HP provides for Apple mobile devices does not appear to support this model printer.

I cannot add a Wi-Fi guest network. Gone to Utilities>Airport Utilities and all I get is an image/browser of my Airport Extreme. Looking for the browser window which has the title Wireless but cannot find anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

Open AirPort Utility. The first screen looks something like this:
Click on the AirPort Extreme and another screen will appear. Click Edit, then the window with the Wireless tab will appear.
If you do not see these screens, you will need to start over and configure your AirPort again.

  • MacBookPro cannot find my HP wireless printer.

I have a HP8600 Plus wireless printer. I recently bought a new airport extreme, which is working ok. When I try to reconfigure my printer, my Mac cannot find it. Report says I should disable MAC address. How do I do this?

From the Canon website: "Printer firmware update is necessary for AirPrint function. Certain exception may apply. AirPrint functionality requires an iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, or iPod touch 3rd generation or later device running iOS 4.2 or later, and an AirPrint-enabled printer connected to the same network as your iOS device.  A printer connected to the USB port of your Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule is not supported. "
Sounds like you need to update the firmware.
Oh and here is the website to do that at: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_ one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mg5320
