Cannot find interface!

The following question was posted in the beginners area, unfortunately no replies have been unsuccessful:
http://forums.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=54&thread=209889
I have two files (Both in same directory):
Q.java (the interface):
package my.util;
public interface Q {
String pQ (String name);
and another file T.java (the class file using the interface):
package my.util;
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
public class T implements Q {
public String pQ (String name)
return "one";
public String pQ (String name, String value)
return "two";
Q.java compiles fine, but when I compile T.java I get the following error:
T.java:6: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : class Q
location: class my.util.T
public class T implements Q {
^
1 error

hi,
set your classpath to include the Current Directory by using the following command
set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\my\util;.
replace the "c:\my\util" with the path where the Directory structure my\util resides.
Also notice there is a dot (.) at the end of the Classpath, that sets the current directory to be also present in the classath.
then compile both Q.java and T.java in the following manner.
javac -d . *.java
it will automatically create the following folders and files
my
|
--- util
|
------ Q.class
------ T.class
hope this helps

    Hi,
    Have you checked the TMG logging?
    You could try the troubleshooting steps in the thread below.

  • I cannot find the method in this interface!

    Is service an interface and query its method in the following scrips? But I cannot find the method query in this interface. What is the function of new?
    Map map = service.query(new FreeMemAgent(), null);
    Thank you
    Edited by: jetq on Jun 7, 2009 9:05 PM

    Hi Frank,
    service is a reference variable and refers to an instance of a class that implements the query() method that returns a reference to an instance of a class that implements the Map interface. If service happens to refer to an instance of a class that implements the InvocationService interface, you can find the Coherence 3.4.2 documentation of the method at InvocationService. The new keyword is a Java operator that creates an object. Continuing with the assumption that service refers to an instance of a class that implements the InvocationService interface, the FreeMemAgent class must implement the Invocable interface. A reference to a "new" FreeMemAgent object is being passed to the query() method.

  • Peoplesoft Adapter -Cannot find component interface

    Hi all,
    I was able to successfully generate the wsdl file for a Component Interface "LOCATION" in the application explorer. However, on using this wsdl in my bpel project and subsequently executing the interface, i am getting the following error message in bpel console.
    <Invoke_1_LOCATION_OutputVariable>
    <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="response-headers">[]</part>
    <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="output_LOCATION">
    <PS8 xmlns="urn:iwaysoftware:adapter:peoplesoft:ci:response">
    <error>Cannot find Component Interface {LOCATION} (91,2)</error>
    </PS8>
    </part>
    </Invoke_1_LOCATION_OutputVariable>
    I have checked the configuration multtiple times now. Nothing seems to be missing or wrong in the configuration.
    Has anyone faced similar issue? Could any configuration be missing.
    Is this error raised at the adapter side or on peoplesoft? Is the communication with PeopleSoft actually taking place?

    John,
    Following could be the reasons:
    1. Make sure that the path in the jar file for the class files(PeopleSoft CI java api) exactly matches the following:
    \PeopleSoft\Generated\CompIntfc
    Upper and lower case differences should be followed exactly.
    2. The Java API for the selected component interface is not found in the API JAR file. Please check the Java API for the class file for the CI. If not found, please add the class file for the CI.
    3. The component interface name is mentioned incorrectly in the request document.
    4. If you are using 10.1.3.x version of SOA Suite, then make sure that the component interface jar is included in the server.xml. Please see the details for this in the 10.1.3.x application adapter installation guide.
    5. Following could also be an issue:
    LOCATION Component Interface
    Explanation
    When you attempt to access the LOCATION Component Interface using the Human Resources application, release 8.80.000, a failure occurs during runtime and the following message is displayed:
    Component Interface Not Found
    This is due to a problem in the way the PeopleSoft application has been delivered and is not related to the PeopleTools release.
    Workaround
    Perform the following steps:
    1. Open the component interface in the PeopleTools Application Designer.
    2. Make a small change to the component interface.
    3. Undo the change.
    4. Save the component interface.
    This procedure resets certain internal PeopleSoft data structures, which enables the Adapter for PeopleSoft to find the component interface. This has been observed in the LOCATION Component Interface running on the Human Resource applications release 8.8.000 on several different releases of PeopleTools, but it may
    occur in other component interfaces as well.

    I don't see any messages of loading nvidia ("NVRM") or nouveau. Are you sure that you have installed a module that is compatible with your current kernel?
    You'll also need to patch your ACPI handle or the nouveau/nvidia driver will refuse to load at all, see https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/bbswitch/issues/2 (this is specific to some machines, your Lenovo G580 machine included)

  • 'Font contains bad/Widths' and 'Cannot find/create font' errors when saving pdf as Other Reduced Size PDF

    I am exporting .indd files from within Indesign as pdf files, opening in Acrobat Pro XI. I have no trouble creating the initial pdf file, however, when I go to Save Other > Reduced Size PDF I get error messages. Depending on the file, I receive either the message, "The font (Myriad Pro) contains bad/Widths" replacing the text with dots or "Cannot find or create the font (Helvetica) Some characters may not print or display properly" replacing text with dots or boxes.
    My confusion is that the file is exporting to pdf from Indesign without error, it is only when I try to Save Other> Reduce Size PDF that the error occurs.
    Also, it is only occurring on five out of 120 pages. These same fonts are on other pages and I have no trouble at all with exporting or Reduce Size PDF.
    More frustrating is that I have never had this problem occur in all my previous versions of Acrobat using the same process and typefaces.
    I am reaching deadline on this and cannot find a solution other than to reload Acrobat 9 and ditch this upgrade.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I, too have experienced this issue. Upon export from INDD CS6, I see the error message "The font 'IXWIPX+SourceHanSansSC-Bold' contains bad \Widths."
    The only items on the single-page InDesign document I'm trying to export are copies of a one-page PDF (which was extracted from a longer PDF, arranged into a cover format). I can provide all files as necessary. The longer document that the one page came from also experienced an error when I tried to print to Adobe PDF. While I still get a PDF of the cover on export, despite the "bad \widths" message, it won't print from certain machines. I get nothing (not even an empty shell file) from the attempt to print the larger document (where the cover elements came from) to PDF.
    I can deal with these issues with a few unorthodox workarounds, but wanted to offer comments or volunteer to help test fixes if possible.
    For the record, I'm really not enjoying Acrobat XI. It doesn't seem to have much by way of new features (at least not that I use), and some of those I used most in version X are gone or less functional. Common fonts like Times New Roman are often not found (even though they are definitely on my system); I have a much harder time editing text through the new interface, and I have a few other small gripes—some that I don't have time to get into, others that wouldn't really matter, except that they weren't a problem until I "upgraded." Just sayin'.
    Thanks for listening.

  • Unable to delete User object in FIM Portal - Cannot find the object "#calculateRequestSetTransitionsAssembleStatementsPartition"

    Hi,
    ***Problem
    I encounter a problem with FIM (version 4.1.3441.0 and 4.1.3496.0) when I try to delete a User object (and only a User object) whatever if it is
    manually/Expiration Workflow/Powershell.
    Deleting a User object used to be perfectly functional and, without any product version modification, stopped working. I haven't neither deleted/modified or add a
    "Grant" MPR or any of the corresponding Sets since last time I saw it working.
    Displayed error is "Request could not be dispatched" in FIM Portal and is referencing a stored procedure in Event Viewer.
    ***Error details
    When I try to delete a User object, here is the output :
    Portal
    "Processing error" on submit
    with the following details
    Request status is stuck at "Validating" until next restart of FIM Service (after what it becomes “Canceled”)
    Request’s “Applied Policy” tab does not contain any MPR where, at least, a “Grant” MPR is expected
    As SQL Timeout is relatively high and error happens quickly, I don’t think there is a Timeout problem under that.

    While there are several SQL Agent jobs (FIM Temporal Events, Maintain Sets, and Maintain Groups among others)created by the FIM install only one of those is enabled and scheduled and it calls all of the same stored procedures that the other
    jobs do. Step 2 is Maintain sets and Step 3 is maintain groups. So the Maintain sets and groups jobs never need to get enabled and scheduled, but if you want them to be maintained more frequently then you can.

    First and most obvious question is, what are you trying to have the applet view? The NoPlayerException generally means that JMF couldn't figure out how to display what you're telling it to display, be that an unknown codec, or unknown media type.

    Hi,
    Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT HD Audio Driver ( this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.

  • Installation error:  Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at path C:\Program Fi

    I am installing latest version of SQL Developer, Release 1.2. I have Sun Java 2 Standard Edition Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_10-b03). When I browse and select the java.exe found it comes up with error: Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at patch
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10
    I am installing the version I downloaded for Windows systems with JDK1.5.
    I have tried on two different machines.
    Any ideas?

    This is going to seem loooong, but comprehensive.
    I'd initially always suggest using the bundled
    package, since that's supposed to be a tested and
    proven combination.You know what, I'm gonna be mighty surprised if you're implying that Oracle hasn't 'tested and proven' the releases at http://www.oracle.com./technology/software/products/sql/index.html other than the first 77 MB download labeled Oracle SQL Developer for Windows... :)
    After having problems with a graphics card for
    example, installing the latest JDK might be
    indicated.Huh?!? Not a clue what you're talkin' 'bout! :S
    It's also easy for users who don't know which Java
    version to download, or even where to find it! You
    guys have proven that: although it's stated you need
    .First of all, it says right there on the download page (http://www.oracle.com./technology/software/products/sql/index.html) that:
    "JDK 1.5 (JDK 5.0) is required. This is the minimum JDK version required"
    And we've "proven that [..] although it's stated you need the JDK, [we]'ve tried running with the JRE" and have NOT been able to run the application. It just presents the user a dialog box to locate the 'SDK' manually and exits gracefully if you try to dismiss it. So, conclusively proven, the JDK (or as SQL Developer puts it, Java SDK) is required- QED.
    And given users might have several versions running
    on the same machine (I have half a dozen), sqldev
    could easily pick up a wrong version.And every JRE installation (atleast all of Sun's) make sure they update the default (via PATH and other required system variables) JRE point to the latest one installed. So if you have anything 1.5+ you're good to go; if not, you've got an incompatile JRE. Doesn't sound that hard to me!
    As for being bulky, even without the bundled JDK, it
    still is.Ya missed the point. Developers are making Java applications bulkier by including the JRE/JDK with their distributions. A SQL Developer release sans JDK is about 46 MB; with JDK that climbs to 77 MB (sizes quoted from download page linked above).
    Imagine what happens when you have, besides SQL Developer (JDK 1.5 included), some-cool-java-app that also includes the JRE/JDK it was built on; and then another-java-app that also includes a JRE/JDK... I bet JDeveloper also comes with a JDK bundled in. So, now you have FOUR copies of JRE/JDK (aside from the "have half a dozen" that probably installed themselves via Java Update Checker)!
    Here's the big picture, the savings in disk space would only be the beginning of your benefits. Here's a few others:
    - Class Data Sharing (http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/vm/class-data-sharing.html) introduced in Java SE 5.0 provides for storing definitions of commonly used classes in a representation closer to machine code, even closer than bytecode, this reducing load and startup time. Plus all VM's launced using that particular distribution get to share the cache- Performace+ !!
    Running each app offa' it's own VM just causes multiple caches to be loaded. You just multiplied your losses! :(
    - Sun is currently working on a way to have applications simply inject into a running JVM. That way, there is no load and startup time for the JVM, just the time to load you app classes. Using different distros would completely defeat this!
    (The reason why this feature isn't out yet is because they're still trying to make it possible to specify hitherto VM configurations like security and logging as application configurations. Then there's also the issue of setting up class loading boundaries between applications.
    You say you don't have to bring over the VB runtime
    for each app? I remember in the 90's doing it all the
    time. Of course, being MS, now that's not necessary
    anymore, since it's "magical" Windows. I don't have
    any machine from Sun, but for sure they've got Java
    bundled with it, right?I don't believe you had to do that since VB 5; and that's because MS realized that they messed up on this very point upto then! Sun worked the simple solution to that into their deployment strategy- install only ONE runtime and run all apps off that. As for you're half-a-dozen, I think you can safely uninstall the five older versions; because, even today, people are running apps developed using JDK1.1 on Java SE 6.0!
    Again, I find the most logical difference between JRE
    and JDK being the debugger. As you say it yourself:
    JRE for end-users, who don't need to do any
    debugging.
    Now, sqldev is not just a table browser, but also for
    debugging PL/SQL. 1 + 1 = 2.I think it's a little naive to differentiate between the JRE and JDK on just the debugger! Aside from the obvious inclusion of a compiler, the JDK has several other tools for monitoring/managing the heap, threads and logging on the fly. There's also the Doclet API and Sun's javadoc implementation, dev interfaces for instrumenting the VM, native interfaces, ...
    And I reiterate, we're talkin' PL/SQL developers here. Why would I want to give a PL/SQL developer a Java Development Kit?!? ;|
    Nevertheless, as said in the other thread, if the
    team discloses how to circumvent the SDK check at
    startup, you can go ahead and use the JRE. In any
    case, you'd have to agree that won't work as
    out-of-the-box solution...You're right, it won't work like a standard Windows OOTB app. But, it WILL work as a Java OOTB that only mandates that there be a JRE available; just like the scores of Java apps out there- from tiny little Pong clones to large IDE's like NetBeans.
    BTW, don't even think about quoting Websphere/Rational/Eclipse as counter-arguments. They are the biggest offenders as far as this issue goes. And jikes is an abomination, a curse Sun must carry as a result to opening the VM Spec. But, I digress...

  • 'Cannot find symbol' error after putting class into package

    I'm sure this is probably just a stupid mistake that I am making somewhere, but I can't figure it out.
    I have written a Java program, "LineConsole.java" and an interface, "LineConsoleKeyListener.java". LineConsole.java uses the interface (it does not implement it... it uses LineConsoleKeyListener objects in the program). If I put the two .java files into the same directory and compile them, everything works.
    So now I want to put them in a package called "LineConsole". I thought all I had to do was move the two files into a folder called "LineConsole" and add "package LineConsole;" to the top of each file. I did that, but now LineConsole.java does not compile. It complains that it cannot find the LineConsoleKeyListener interface, even though it's right there in the same directory.
    What am I doing wrong? Do members of a package have to import themselves or something?
    Thanks!

    Thanks guys :)
    It's working now.
    One more question...
    Right now I have 3 files in a folder names "LineCon":
    - LineConsole.class
    - LineConsoleKeyListener.class
    - wincbreak.dll
    If I copy that directory into the same directory as some other program I am writing, I can use those classes just like they are in a package. But is there any way to zip that package into a jar file? I know how to create jar files, but is there a way to make them behave like packages?
    I have tried creating a jar file with the individual files and also with all three files in a directory. The jar file is created successfully, but I cannot copy that jar file into the directory of a program and use the classes within it as if they were a package.
    I guess my ultimate question here is... how do I import a .class file that is in a jar file?

  • Why is a 'globe' contact available in Global Address List (which belongs to AD), but I cannot find it on AD server?

    I have a topic at link:

    I dot not make sense about why a 'globe' contact is available in Global Address List (which belongs to AD), but I cannot find it on AD server? I think the cause relates to Exchange server.
    Could you give me an explaination!
    Thanks advance.

    And here the Documentation:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201680.aspx
    Mail contacts
    Mail contacts typically contain information about people or organizations that exist outside your Exchange organization. Mail contacts can appear in your organization’s shared address book (also called the global address list or GAL) and other address lists,
    and can be added as members to distribution groups. Each contact has an external email address, and all email messages that are sent to a contact are automatically forwarded to that address. Contacts are ideal for representing people external to your Exchange
    organization (in the shared address book) who don't need access to any internal resources. The following are mail contact types:
    Mail contacts   These are mail-enabled Active Directory contacts that contain information about people or organizations that exist outside your Exchange organization.
    Mail forest contacts   These represent recipient objects from another forest. These contacts are typically created by directory synchronization. Mail forest contacts are read-only recipient objects that can be updated or
    removed only by means of synchronization. You can't use Exchange management interfaces to modify or remove a mail forest contact.
