Cannot find mobilesync folder on my mac os

I've backed up my iphone several times and followed instructions on finding the sms backup files but cannot find the mobilesync folder for the life of me...  It is simply not there it appears, not under the only user on the mac (both user name and the "shared") or in general Library folder...
Attached is a screenshot of the folders.  Any ideas..?
Thanks for any help you can offer, I'm fairly novice Mac user having used PC's most of my life

Yo 'nycetouch'
In my perspective, I beleieve you are opening the Finder App from your Dock and seraching for /Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
Its imperative that you should be seraching in the GO option on the top.
If you are not able to find GO on the top. Quit all the opened applications to find the GO
or
Doulbe tap or double left click into the Desktop screen to find GO
Under GO click on Go to Folder, in that paste
/Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
In my case,
/Users/Boo/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup.
It took me a while to find the GO option. I must work. Im eager to know how you are going.
JimHDK,
You are a life saver. Your instructions were really helpful.
Thanks again mate!!

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Pictures/ as the path. If that doesn't work, control-click a photo in iPhoto, show it in the Finder, and Command-click the folder's name in the window's title bar to find the path.

  • I cannot find the icon for office:mac 08 word on my doc, where did it go?

I cannot find the icon for Office: mac 08 word on my doc. I downloaded the whole Office: mac 2008 Home & Student Edition about a year ago and just recently the word icon disappeared. The other Office icons are still visible and i am able to use them but i cannot find the word application anywhere.

Have you used spotlight search? Typed "word" and the application doesn't appear? If it doesn't then it probably isn't around anymore.... so hit command + space ... and type "word"... what happens?

  • Cannot find FlexNet folder in /Library with Photoshop CS5.1

    Hi,
I'm running the trial version of Photoshop CS5.1 on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2, however, I cannot find any FlexNet related folder in /Library/Preferences or /Library/Application Supports. Do latest Adobe products such as Photoshop or Acrobat remove FlexNet licensing?
    Thanks.

Thanks Sparkleberry, but it's more complicated than that. I quit Safari, unsynched Safari from iCloud, but nothing changed. Then after about 15 minutes I could access ~/Library/Safari in TM, but only for some of the backups. I Restored from a bookmarks.plist file from December 22, 2014, but it was the wrong bookmarks (completely different from the bookmarks I had on my MBP). I Restored the empty bookmarks file again.
The trouble is, ~/Library/Safari is not available for most of my previous backups, and there were many between December 22 and this evening.
The net problem is that ~/Library/Safari/bookmarks.plist simply don't seem to be available beyond the most recent backup (and the random December 22 file).
I read somewhere that you can backup from iCloud backups, but I try as I might I cannot find how to do that, if it can be done.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot find Safari folder in Library in Time Machine backups

Hi, In preparing an older MacBook Pro for kid use I deleted all of the Safari bookmarks, not realizing they were synched in iCloud. Therefore, it deleted all Safari bookmarks across all of my computers! Ugh! I'm trying to go back into the Library/Safari folder in Time Machine and restore the bookmarks file (Bookmarks.plist) from a TM backup this morning. But in Time Machine I cannot access the Safari folder in the Library folder in any Time Machine backup except for the more current one.
If I enter Time Machine via the Library/Safari folder I cannot go back in time at all (and that's exactly what I need to do). If I enter Time Machine via the Library folder the Safari folder disappears from all but the most recent backup.
Why is the Safari folder not showing up in previous TM backups? Does this have anything to do with iCloud synch? If so, can I go back in iCloud similar to Time Machine and "resynch" the Safari bookmarks file from this morning?
This is in Yosemite 10.10.1 on a newish 15" MBP.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • IMac cannot find system folder.

I purchased my iMac in March. By June I had it back at the Apple Store for repair.
They replaced the mother board. Now it is doing the same thing again. At start-up it cannot find the system folder most times. If it does start up and I let it go to sleep, when I wake up the iMac, it locks up and upon restart it cannot find the system folder.
I have tried reformating the hard drive and reinstalling the software. It only helps for a while.

I don't know if there's a question in there or not but if it's 'doing the same thing' then take it back. It's still under warranty. We can't fix hardware.

  • I placed a personal folder in the sidebar of the finder. It had NB folders inside. This sidebar folder accidentally got dragged and went "poof" into a cloud of smoke. I cannot find the folder or it's NB contents anywhere. Help years of work!

    Hi,
I need your help Please, I fear I might have lost years worth of work.
I had created 3 personal folders In my Home folder.
I then created a new folder called "active folder" and dragged these 3 folders inside, removing them from the Home folder.
I then dragged my newly created folder "Active Folder" to the Sidebar of the finder.
When I had closed finder and reopened it - the "active Folder" folder was unable to open.
A friend tried to help- dragged "active folder" off the sidebar.. and it disappeared with a cloud effect.
I cant find that folder or its NB contents anywhere,
Please help me with some advice if you can.
    Not using tiger or Lion.*

When you created that "active folder," where did you create it?  And after you added it to the sidebar, what did you do with it?  If the data is truly nowhere to be found on your system, even using EasyFind, then I suspect you mistakenly deleted it, thinking that you had copied it to the sidebar.  That would explain why you later found that the "active folder" was unable to open from the sidebar.  The sidebar is just another way to access the original item, and if you deleted the original item, it can't do its job.
Unfortunately, if this is what you did and you don't have any backups, you may be out of luck.  I don't know what you mean by saying you "did the whole data recovery 1's and 0's," but if you haven't already done so, you should try some dedicated data recovery software, to see if those deleted files may still be on the drive.  See Recovering deleted files.
Ultimately, this is not a flaw in the Mac system, it is a flaw in your use of it.  I strongly recommend some reading to get up to speed:

  • I cannot find my music on my mac.

My music on my Mac disappeared. I can find the hidden library, but all of the folders are empty. And when I go on iTunes, there is I cannot find my purchase history.

It's not in music either. I saw a post about finding your library, that sometimes it is hidden. I found the library...no music or movies except something I purchased after the first of the year and a couple of days ago. It also does not show any of my children's purchases that have occurred at any time. It's very odd.

  • Cannot find newly exported iMovie on mac, used iMovie11

i have just completed an iMovie project and exported it to finder.   But, i cannot find the movie anywhere on my desktop?   tried it again, and specifically specified saving location to movies, and cannot find the second copy.   a search for the movie file name has come up empty?   any ideas on how to export a project and actually be able to find it?   need to attach to an email and send out to friends.   thanks.

    Hey goodhill1,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you can't find a movie you exported. I would recommend that you follow these articles, they may be able to help you resolve or isolate this issue.

When searching with Spotlight, you can search for the metadata too not just the file name.
OS X Mavericks: Narrow down Spotlight search results
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14172
    Search for metadata attributes
Most items contain metadata that describes the item contents, how it was created, and other attributes. For example, when you take a digital photo, information such as the camera model, the aperture, and the focal length are among the many attributes automatically stored in the file as metadata. Here are examples of what you might type in the search field when you search using metadata attributes:
    trip kind:document
searches for the word “trip” in documents only.
    author:tom
searches for all items written by Tom.
    meeting date:tomorrow
searches for meetings you have planned for tomorrow.
    kind:images created:5/16/08
searches for images created on a specific date.
    kind:music by:“glenn miller”
searches for music by Glenn Miller.
    modified:<=6/29/08
searches for items modified on or before a specific date.
To view metadata for a file, select the file, then choose File > Get Info.

  • HP 8500 - Cannot get network folder for scans (Mac OSX 10.5.6) to work

Trying to get the network path set up for saving scans from the printer.....I've gone into the network (Ethernet, wired) configuration for the printer at its IP address from my MacBook Pro.
Under the setting where I create a network folder to store scans, I entered the network path to a folder on the mac, enabled file sharing, and entered my user name and password.
However, when I "Save and Test" (or Test and Save, whichever), it comes back saying the user name and password are incorrect.
    Huh?
I've checked this a dozen times and also tried to prefix the user name with the machine name.
What's a little disconcerting is that the instructions on this Web page (for setting up the scan folder for the printer) say to enter the "Windows" user name and password. No mention of the Mac.
    Not sure what's wrong.
    I entered for the path:
    \\MacBookPro\Users\Mork\temp
    (temp is a valid folder)
I entered the user name and password I use to login to the machine
    I then get the error.
    Any ideas what's wrong?
I tried to use Mac paths with forward slashes, but the Website for the printer said this was an error right away.
    (Confused).
    Thanks.
    - M

The support for the scanning is built into the Mac. This link tells you how to do it.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01846935&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c01627041/en_...
Go to the System Preferences under the apple menu.
    Select Print & Fax
    Open Scanner
    Click Open Scanner
The last pull down menu on the left selects the folder. Change it to what you want and you don't have to worry about the network path and it will work!
To scan, click the scan button.
I tested it and it was such a relief to see the file appear in the folder. I hope this helps someone!

  • ITunes cannot find the folder containing the installation package itunes64.msi.

When I try and update iTunes to the newest version it says that it cannot find the itunes64.msi.  How to i fix this? I have a Dell Inspiron if that makes a difference.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)
