Cannot Find or Download My Pictures from my iPad

I am using a first generation iPad which has some pictures saved on there from before.
I have bought a new MacBook Pro, and when I plug this iPad into my new MacBook Pro, I cannot find or see these pictures anywhere in my iTunes or my iPhoto and therefore cannot download them.
I want to save all the content from my iPad before reformatting it, however I need to save this pictures before doing so. How can I back up/download these pictures without losing them?

If the photos were originally synced from a computer then your Mac won't see them, it will only see photos taken with an iPad (including screenshots), those copied to it via the camera connection kit and those saved from emails/websites etc.
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they were on the computer that they were synced from.

Tony is right. What camera (make and model)? Mac or PC? Which version of Lightroom (5.0? 5.3?) Are you downloading from the camera or from a card reader?
What is the exact error message that you're getting?

Cannot delete (non-downloaded) video podcasts from my iPad

Using iTunes on my iPad, I tried to download some video podcasts from CNN and Discovery Channel. For 4 days now, I have had 4 episodes sitting in my "Downloads" section, witht the words "waiting" underneath.
I have searched the discussion forums and the web for answers.
I have done hard restarts.
I have downloaded the above podcasts directly to iTunes on my computer, and tried to sync them with my iPad. It said that the iPad could not play that type of content.
I have deleted the podcasts from my computer and synced with the iPad again.
All to no avail; I cannot remove the 4 offending episodes.
Please, someone, help!

I am confused. Do you mean you found the music, not the tones, or you can't find either?
If the former, then this is normal. You can't redownload tones from the Cloud.

Your pictures are not saved in iTunes Match; that is a music service. If you restore your device from a backup saved in iCloud, you will get pictures back, but any pictures taken since the backup will be lost, so you will want to import those to your computer first.

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.

Plug your iPad into your computer. THere may be a delay while it installs drivers but if you can see your iPad in windows explorer, use that to get to your photos.
Click on your iPad and you should see a DCIM folder. Click thorugh that to find your photos.
Windows explorer will see your iPad as nothing more than a digital camera, and that's the part you're trying to access.

I am trying to email pictures from my ipad to my email address on my computer and I have been going along nice but now I get a message that says "cannot send mail the message was rejected by the server" can't see to figure out why it stopped sending now.

Email may not be the best way to move pictures.

If your Mac is new-ish and has one of the Lions as its OS, the drives, cards, USB sticks no longer show up, even though they're there. Go to Finder's Preferences and tick the corresponding items in the General and Sidebar tabs.
