Cannot find the downloads file icon in the dock

How do I get the downloads file icon into the dock? I can only access it by going into the Finder.

Drag the Downloads folder back to it's spot next to the Trash can and it will make a "alias" there again.

If all .exe files are blocked, antivirus software is most likely configured to block them. See if you can download these with your antivirus and/or security software disabled.

I started to access my Charter email via Firefox. The names of attachments (Microsoft WORD, PowerPoint and .txt files) appear correctly. However, when I choose to download and save the attachment, the real name is changed to Viewattachment(n) where n is the number of the download. Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

How do I re-enable showing the download files history in the download manager window?

I am trying to re-enable showing/retaining the list of downloaded files in the download manager window. I want to be able to drag and drop directly from that window into a folder of my choosing. (I used to be able to do this, but apparently I messed that up...)
I have tried the suggestions that could easily be found, including setting Firefox to remember all history in the Privacy tab of Options.
I also deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file to "reset" the browser defaults, but to no avail.
Any ideas/help?

By the way, a few other things you probably know:
(1) The setting to keep the downloads list displayed after a download is here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > General
Check "Show the Downloads window..." and ''uncheck'' "Close it..."
(2) You can always show the list by pressing Ctrl+j
The mimeTypes.rdf file isn't particularly relevant to this problem; it affects what application Firefox uses to open a particular type of file.
However, there is a database file which stores your download history which might be corrupted. You could rename that file and have Firefox start building a new one.
(1) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
Help (or Alt+h) > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
(2) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., File > Exit)
(3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''downloads.sqlite''' to something else, like downloads.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
(4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.

How do I remove the hidden file icons from the Finder folder?

I recently had problems with Final Cut Pro and had to remove QuicktimeX and use Pacifist to re-install QuicktimeX back into the Applications folder.
I now have "hidden icons" that are lightly grayed out in the Finder folder. I was told by the Apple Genious leave them alone until you know the correct way of removing them from the folders because they play an important role in the system folder.
Can someone advise me on how to make them go away again?

Are these files fine?Probably your files are broken because of interrupted or incomplete download.

Are you installing from the official site? http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
If you use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to check that path, is the Mozilla Firefox folder there? That is the normal installation location, but I think it's worth checking.
If the folder isn't there or firefox.exe is not in it, I wonder whether some other software might be interfering. You might want to run some supplemental security scans. These two tools are highly regarded:

Check Finderr->Preferences->General and ensure that HDs are selected for display. If so and they still don't, Reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Reset the SMC, and see if that does the trick.
