Cannot get adat channels 5 through 8 to produce signal in logic

Recently bought an audient as880 going in to a universal audio apollo twin, I receive and hear signal on the console adat 1 through to 8 yet even with armed tracks correct input selected I cannot get adat channels 5 through 8 to produce signal in logic

I am recording at 44.1, I receive signal but only through channels 3 and 4 and no others regardless which channel is selected.
The word clock is on the Ua as this is the master the 880 can only be a slave.
Thanks for coming back I appreciate the feedback
Well, I don't know if this is your problem but you should have a single lightpipe cable coming out of the 880 into the Apollo, correct?
The 880 should be set to Internal clock 44.1 the Apollo should sync to clock that's coming in on the lightpipe cable.
What I described is the standard correct method for connecting two digital units in the configuration you're using.
The Apollo can sync to external clock can't it. Also, if the Apollo has digital settings make sure they're on "8-ch ADAT" not s/pdif. (which is stereo two channel input)
The problems you're describing could be caused by not having the clocks set correctly.

  • X-Fi: cannot get multi-channel sound or SPDIF passthrough

I've owned an X-Fi XtremeMusic since it first came out, and have been running it with a MCE2005 system. I've had it hooked up to a home theater receiver via SPDIF and 5. analog, but have only had stereo speakers until today. So, right now I'm trying to get multi-channel sound to work. I'm using the latest drivers (have also tried the original drivers) and have all Microsoft patches applied.
First, I cannot seem to get it out of stereo mode. Using the analog outputs to the 5. analog input on my receiver and setting the X-Fi to 5. speakers refuses to produce sound from anything except front left/right. I've used the Speaker Connection Wizard, the THX Console, the Speaker & Headphone console... and no matter what speaker icon I click on the sound comes out of the front left or right as if it is downmixing. I've also tried 4.0, 6. and 7. modes - no improvement. Also, multi-channel sound does not work in MCE setup, games, etc.
Quite by accident I discovered that if I enable CMSS I can get *some* sort of sound from the rear speakers, but only in the sense of an effect. Also, with CMSS enabled, when testing the front center I get the word "front" out of the left/right speakers which then fades out before "center". If I test it again I get nothing (except a slight effect from the rear).
Finally, I cannot get the SPDIF passthrough to work (it DOES work just fine passing out stereo 48khz sound). I've enabled SPDIF on the flexi-jack, I've set Dolby Digital and DTS to "external decoder required", and NONE of my applications present me with an option to use the SPDIF. This includes MCE, VLC and the latest version of CyberLink PowerDVD. Basically it seems that they can't see that there is a SPDIF on the system to use.
Anyone else experienced this? I've spent 5 hours testing everything I can think of and trying different combinations of settings and I am completely at a loss!

Well, I guess I'll answer my own problem in the hopes that it might help someone else.
It seems that hour 8 of frustrated troubleshooting turned up the cure: all of this boils down to Logitech's stupid Quickcam Fusion drivers. With Logitech's "AEC" echo cancellation mode enabled for the built-in microphone, their drivers automatically turn audio acceleration down to second from the bottom. This results in the X-Fi performing nearly no hardware processing (later testing with DXDiag also said I had no hardware buffer). This results in no multi-channel audio, and no SPDIF passthrough.
There are a couple of solutions...
) Disable "AEC" mode from the Logitech Quickcam control panel applet's Audio tab (and reboot). This worked for me.
    2) If this doesn't work, go into the Device Manager and disable the Quickcam's microphone (and reboot). This worked for me, but then I tried # which also worked and still let me use the microphone.
    3) Logitech's site (which mentions this problem/solution but only in the context of it causing BSOD crashes, not with it messing up multi-channel sound cards) mentions renaming one of their Audio directories to disable the microphone, although I don't see why this would be better than #2 (see http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/...p?p_faqid=4066 for more).
    4) Unplug the camera.
So, I'm back in business - or rather, I'm only NOW in business!
Interesting that the Creative diagnostics utility turned up anything amiss. It claimed that everything was hunky dory, when the card was obviously in a mode where it could not possibly work correctly.

I have replced my old router with a BT Home hub3 and so far I cannot get the printer (HP Officejet Pro 8500A) to work.
Printer appears in the "my network" area in the hub settings.
It also shows up in the control panel.
It is connected to the hub via an ethernet cable "to slot 2)
Test pages from the control panel and the hub both fail as does notebook.
The printer itself will print Configuration pages etc just fine.
The old set up worked flawlessly and was easy to set up in minutes. What am I missing?

Is the printer still is still set to shared? Might of become unselected when you set it back up.

  • I cannot get on the internet through Ethernet

    Hi Everyone,
I am 100% new to macs, I just purchased a mini used from someone and I have tried to set up the internet through ethernet card and it will not work. I have researched for two days now and there doesn't seem to be an answer. I have done it all using DHCP to try to automatically get the settings but it is bringing up 169 IP address is is wrong. I have tried manually entering the information in and no luck. It is connected straight from the modem there is no router. I am usually good with PC's and could fix everything but right now I am stumped. I am running Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger. I thought I would try this out to see if anyone could help.
    Thank you in advance

OK, If they are not using fixed IP addresses, then you should be using THEIR Router. You should get your IP Address through DHCP from their Router. \[As an aside, there can be quite a large cascade of Routers -- yours plus theirs.]
The 169.254.xxx.yyy address is the "self-assigned" address used by your Mac when no one responds to its initial broadcast of a request for assignment of an IP address. This is a complicated way of saying "no one will talk to you".
One thing to check for before declaring their box dead is the lights when the cables are plugged in. No lights sometimes means you are using a cross cable where a straight cable is required or the reverse. Most modern Macs "sniff" the cable and adjust to use whatever cable is provided, but older Macs do not.
Some providers grab the first M.A.C. Address (Hardware Address) they see, and limit connection to only that device, ever. So if your computer dies and you get a new one, you have to call them up and ask them to reset their box. Sometimes there is a procedure for a "Deep" reset in their manuals, and you may need to apply that now. \[and if you decide to add your own Router later, you call them and tell them you are installing a different "computer". Your Router then becomes the only registered device.]

  • Cannot Get Music To Play Through CD Player!

Hey guys, I am new to mac but have used iTunes for years. I know how to burn a cd off of itunes, even though I have never done so before, problem is I can't get it to play in my cd player! I have changed the format of the songs to mp3 but my cd player does not play mp3. My boyfriend has a mp3 player in his car and it worked, so I know itunes isn't totally screwing up. So what format do I need to have the songs in in order for it to play?? I have done it also through the default (AAC) and even WAV but when I put the cd in the player there is nothing there, just dead aire! PLEASE HELP

I have changed the format of the songs to mp3 but my cd player does not play mp3.
If your CD player will not play MP3 files, don't use MP3 files.
So what format do I need to have the songs in in order for it to play??
Select Audio CD for the format when you burn.

  • Cannot get WRT160N to Internet through Actiontec 1524 on Qwest DSL

Suffice it to say, I have literally tried everything.  No wired or wireless computer connected through my WRT160N can see the internet.  I can use my old Linksys BEFW11S4 for all wireless and wired as long as the patch cable is connected from the uplink port on the linksys to my Actiontec 1524, and the BEFW11S4 is set up with static ip's.  The Actiontec then acts as the DHCP server for all the other computers.  The problem as I see it is that there is no uplink port on my new WRT160N.  I can't set it up for DHCP because it will never get an IP address from the Actiontec.  I can't set it up for PPPOe, even though it works from the Actiontec to Qwest servers and recieves an IP address, the Linksys never get an address.  I currently have the WRT160N set up with a static IP, within range and scope, with no duplicates on the network, but no computer, wired or wireless, can see the Actiontec much less the Internet.  There is no uplink port on the WRT160N, so I'm thinking that may be the problem in my case, I'm just hoping that someone has more brilliant ideas than I've run across so far.  Oh, and the WAN port..  is not an uplink port.  My BEFW11S4 has both an uplink and WAN port, so I know the WAN is different.  Someone mentioned that crossover cable might make a difference, but I've also read that the ports on the Linksys are normally autosensing.   Please give me hope that I didn't waste my money.  I've got a co-worker that has one but has cable for internet and had no problem what-so-ever.  I'm thinking the Actiontec doesn't like routers, but I'd need proof before I go beat up Qwest.
    Thanks in advance

I should also mention, I brought the 160N into work, setup exactly like it was at home, dhcp, etc. and it all worked flawlessly.  Could it be the Actiontec has a penchant for not working well with routers??

  • Cannot get SSH to forward through to my mac...

I finally ponied up the money and replaced my crappy Belkin G router with an Airport Extreme N router and I can't say enough good things about it. However, I am having a problem that I just can't seem to resolve. I have several services forwarded into my iMac such as FTP, BitTorrent, Blizzard Downloader, and SSH. All of them seem to work flawlessly except for SSH. If I try to SSH to my iMac from my macbook from within my LAN it works just fine (ssh [email protected]) so I know that SSH is running properly on my iMac and accepting connections. However, if I change how I SSH and try to access it through my router's external IP address I get a connection refused (ssh [email protected]). I know port forwarding is working on my Airport Extreme because if I FTP to that external address I access my iMac perfectly. I checked and the firewall is disabled on my iMac and the SSH forwarding on the Airport Extreme router is definitely forwarding all TCP connections on port 22 to port 22 on 10.0.1.2.
Anyone got any ideas? This is just baffling to me!!

OK, first, could you clarify this:
+Another thing I tried was plugging my MacBook into one of the Gigabit Ethernet ports on the AEBS and turning off the Airport card in my MacBook to ensure I was using Ethernet. I setup the Port Mapping on the AEBS to point that that IP address (which was 201) and still got Connection Refused.+
What I was basically doing there was making sure it wasn't just the Wireless part of the AEBS that was causing the problems. So I setup one of my macs on one of the Gigabit Ethernet ports on the AEBS. It didn't make any difference, I still couldn't connect to it.
And regarding the cable modem, there may be two options on how it handles the public WAN IP address (this option is available on my DSL modem).
Basically you can pass the public IP address to the AEBS (Ideal), or you can have your modem be assigned the public IP address, and then it assigns your AEBS it's own set of internal addresses. It is easy enough to tell, by looking at your AEBS in the utility. For IP address, if it is clearly a public IP address like 24.xxx.xxx.xxx or 69.xxx.xxx.xxx then you are good. If it is like 192.168.1.2 or similar, that could be the problem.
My cable modem just passes the public IP address right to the AEBS. If I look at the IP address that the AEBS has it is 74.166.xxx.xxx.
BTW, you might be able to config your cable modem by going to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in your browser, while directly connected to the cable modem.
I will go home and try to figure out a way to access the cable modem directly. Although I have my doubts since it is just passing the public IP address right to the AEBS. Not even sure what IP it would be using or if it is even running any kind of web services.

The sound on my iPad sound doesn't always work, it will work without headphones for less than 3 minutes when I'm playing music but will work for longer when I'm not. It will work for an hour maybe with head phones in but then stop, in which time I have to take them out and put them back in to get the sound to work again. When the sound isn't working airplay says the sound is coming out of a dock connector, and the option, 'iPad' goes.

The printer is a HP Officejet 7310 All in One and is hooked up via usb to the iMac. The iMac prints no problem. I installed Bonjour on my PC and it located the printer no problem. I set it up and it is now available in my printer list. I set it as a default and try to print a test page and nothing happens. Printer sharing is turned on on the iMac and I have disabled the firewall completely on the PC. Any thoughts on what I might be missing?

You would need to use the audio control panel to send the computer audio to this output device.

  • Cannot access internet through itunes after last itunes update. Cannot get to itunes store or itunes help. Everything else works fine.

After last itunes update I cannot get to the internet through itunes. Cannot get to itunes store, itunes help, etc. Also, now when I sync everything syncs properly but I get message at end that tells me that my phone cannot be backed up on the laptop.

Something may be corrupt in your iTunes installation. The backup problem may or may not be related. The first step is reboot your system, disable your antivirus and firewall and try again. The next thing to try is completely removing iTunes and reinstalling: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
Also, if you used TinyUmbrella or Recboot as unauthorized apps to help with the update they corrupted your network settings on your computer. You will have to edit your hosts file and remove all references to Apple servers.

  • Updating firmware when I can't get an internet connection through the router

I am trying to update the firmware for WRT54G V8, but some of the instructions indicate I need to have the router connected and be connected to the internet.  I cannot get an internet connection through the router.  Can I upgrade firmware without being connected to the internet through the router.  (I have had this router for about a year and a half with no problems until now.)

Yes, you can upgrade the firmware without an Internet connection.
To upgrade the firmware, first download the new firmware into a computer that you can wire to your router.
Next, power down your entire network.
Then wire the computer to a LAN port on the router.
Disconnect all other wires from the router.
Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    Power up your computer.
Login to the router, and do the firmware upgrade  (it will likely take several minutes).
    Power down your entire network.
Next you need to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is likely dead. Report back with this problem
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. Report back with this problem.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.
