Cannot get Apple Mail to work on Mavericks - Synching not working intermittently with Gmail account

Like many others, I am having issues with Apple Mail on Mavericks. I have a gmail account and an account that uses IMAP on godaddy domain. When I do things on my Macbook, they are more or less OK although sometimes there is a delay when deleting mail and having it synch up with my other devices. However, if I go to my iphone and go thru my mail and then go to my macbook in the evening, i am finding that all of my mail is showing up like I never looked at it before. All mail is showing up unread, deleted e-mails are in my inbox, etc. I installed the mavericks update for mail last week, and still things are not working. I really need some help in resolving this issue. I expect this kind of stuff from Windows OS upgrades...not Apple

Have latest version of iTunes installed and running. Also make sure you have internet access working and can access Apple websites. Also, make sure you don't have any entries in your hosts file referring to gs.apple.com....If your not sure about how to do that, go ahead and do the rest first. You can come back to that later.....Plug in phone. Put phone in DFU mode.(google put iphone in DFU mode for instructions) Then restore the phone in iTunes by highliting your device in the left column and click on the Restore button. The latest iOS version is 4.3.3. That's what iTunes will restore it to. When it's done restoring, iTunes will ask if you want to restore from a backup or setup as a new phone. I would use the Setup as a New Phone option. Once it's done, you should have a clean install of the iOS and an operating phone, as long as there are no hardware issues with it.

Cannot get iCloud mail to work even though I have an iCloud account already

I am trying to setup Mail and Notes on an iMac (i3) with OS X 10.8.2. When I go into Preferences > iCloud > check "Mail", I get a prompt for an email address. I enter my existing iCloud email account and click OK but it then asks me to click on "Create" to create the account so I do. It then comes back and says that email already exists and to pick a new one.
There is no option for using an already existing account so there is no way to setup mail.
When I try to go to Mail via the web based iCloud.com interface I am able to login with my iCloud account but when I click on Mail it tells me "iCloud Email Needed" and to create a new email by turning on Mail in the iCloud settings.
It appears Apple has really messed up on iCloud as they did on MobileMe as they did with Mac.com. That aside, how do I get access to my mail?

Here are the instructions to set up the mail manually, it's for Snow leopard but works in ML, try this.Once Mail is working you should be able to enable Notes.
I haven't tried this so here's hoping it works for you, read it first, follow all instructions as printed.

Does it still see interent content/Movie rentals just not your iTunes library?
If you've not done so unplug AppleTv2 from mains then restart it in case it's somehow still trying to talk to the pre-Lion machine and not getting the right/expected responses.
Try disabling/re-enabling Home Sharing in iTunes if that doesn't work.

Today I tried to use my apple tv and I cannot get it to load HBO go and it just spins and spins and spins and it seems to be having a hard time connecting to my apple ID and the internet. I have no idea what to do at this point because I've tried signing out and back in and unplugging it.

Ok the restarting issue sheds a new light on things. If you're able to get to the main menu try going to settings and try a restore. Otherwise try grabbing a micro USB cable to restore via iTunes

Cannot get apple mail and gmail to sync properly

I use apple mail for my gmail account. the messages dont seem to sync properly - eg i try to empty the trash and they pop back in there. i changed the settings to what google say to use but now it is downloading 13000 messages. I loged onto my online account to try and delete them from there but i cant find them

Not exactly sure why you cannot find them on the gmail server when logged directly into gmail unless it is due to the fact you set up the gmail preferences to make gmail act as a mail server which I think you have to do to use a mail client.
At any rate, check Mail.app's preferences, accounts, click the account in question, then the Advanced tab. If you check the checkbox "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" then the mail won't be saved on gmail's pop server.

Cannot get db mail to work via SMTP Relay for Office 365 in SQL Server 2014 on Windows Server 2012 R2

Our company recently moved to Office 365 which mean our on premise exchange server went away as well with the move. I am trying to configure my new sql server (OS-Windows Server 2012 R2, DBMS- SQL 2014 Std Edtion). After some searching I found
this article (http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/02/25/how-to-configure-sql-database-mail-so-send-emails-using-office-365-exchange-online-a-walkthrough.aspx) and have followed these steps exactly, but to no avail. I did some further research
on the SMTP relay I setup and found a way to test it (listed here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn592151(v=exchg.150).aspx at the bottom of the article). If I drop the email.txt file in the pickup folder, it gets sent out no problem.
I have configured my db email exactly as describe here(http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/02/25/how-to-configure-sql-database-mail-so-send-emails-using-office-365-exchange-online-a-walkthrough.aspx). But keep getting an unable to connect
to SMTP server error. I have even tried completely shutting down firewall to see if that is the issue and multiple restarts. Any ideas how to get this to work on Office 365?

I followed this blog and got the below error message in the Database Mail Log.
“The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 2 (2014-06-11T19:34:00). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay
for [email protected]).”
If you are getting the same error message, you can try the below steps to resolve the issue.
1. Open the IIS 6.0 management console. Right click on the SMTP server and open the properties window.
2. Click on the Access tab, click Relay button under Relay restrictions. loopback IP address (i.e 127.0.0.1).
Then the email should be sent out from Database Mail without problem.

Cannot get g-mail to work on my Centro

I bought a Centro last weekend. I tried to set it up in the versamail application but whenever I clidked on get mail I received an "out of memory error" (there are 62mb left of memory so that is clearly not the issue). I spoke with Verizon wireless for an hour and they couldn't figure it out so they suggested I exchange it for another one, suggesting that particular phone was broken. Well the next phone had the same issue. So I called Palm support and was on teh phone with them for 2 hours, they couldn't help. I really don't want to go to a Blackberry but if I can't get it to work, that is what I am going to have to do....any suggestions? I also tried downloading the versamail upgrade two times that is supposed to help patch through g-mail but I never got the 77 code suggesting it had downloaded corectly....any suggestions?

I got Versa to receive my gmail messages, but all it would give me is the headers and two lines of the message...when I would say to download the whole message it would go through the download process, but still only give me the first two lines....which needless to say is pretty useless. I switched to using the ExpressMail instead which downloads the whole message, except that it seems to have an issue with timing out and anytime it tries to check my email when I'm out of reception (which lately in Miami is almost all the time) it loses my password and won't download emails automatically anymore until I manually go in and use the menu to receive new messages....the whole thing is very annoying.

Perhaps you can try to take out the sim card after powering down. Wait a min or 2 and reinsert SIM then power on. If that doesn't work, sounds like it is another of the widespread issues and bugs in 5.0, unless you haven't updated to 5.0 yet. On a related note, but different phone, I had a similar issue and called my VM and slowly went through option 7 to delete messages just to make sure. I also had to have a data connection, for some reason, for the icon to disappear.

Motion 3.0.1 - cannot get point tracker to work properly with mask -Help

I can't get the behavior called point tracker under shapes category to properly work with a mask. Motion either quits unexpectedly with the message or goes into "not responding" mode.
Here are the steps: I set up the foreground and background shots in Final Cut Pro 6, then "sendto" motion (embeded checked).
In Motion I create a simple mask around the foreground object (talking head). With the playhead at the start of the clip, I go the behaviours - shapes - point tracker and apply to mask.
Next in Inspector I check tangents and then analyse. This can take a long time.. When it completes I save and go back to Final Cut. Final Cut then quits unexpectedly after about 10-15 minutes in beach ball mode. If I exit Motion and try to re-open the project, Motion also quits unexpectedly.
What is going wrong? Please help?

Can login to Verizon email. I receive incoming email however I cannot send email. The SEND button appears not to work. Have upgraded all plugins. Works OK on Internet Explorer browser. Upgraded Flash and Java but still does not work.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Cant get Apple TV to work properly with older flat panel TV.

I have an older flat panel, a 42" philips 42pf9630a. This one:

I plugged my brand new Apple TV into the HDMI and switched input on the TV. I can see the Apple TV main menu but it blips in and out, toggling between the main menu and snow. Obviously there's some sort of communication issue between the Apple TV and my Philips. I have successfully used this apple TV on several other TV's in the past couple of months.
Is it because my TV is too old? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this??

Go in to the network and sharing center (in control panel), with the pc connected by wire. Right inder the little "map" of her network, it will list the available networks (probably only one listed), click customize and set it to private, you can also name it if you want so its more easily identified.
Also, make sure file sharing and network discovery are "on".

I can't my Apple mail to work. It started when I did an up date. When I went to use mail (the little stamp at bottom) it said, "you can't use this version of mail with this version of OS X. I looked on support and was told to solve the problem by downloading combo package and security update. Did it 3 times. I did everything. Still doesn't work. I even took everything mail out of applications and the library and did those two updates and still can't get it. Could I reinstall OS X Snow Leopard and would that affect any of my documents like i photo or i tunes? I don't want to loose anything! I have spent way too long on this problem. I feel like I own PC with windows again. Please help!!!!!! Frustated

No need to reinstall Snow. Try trashing all the Mail.apps you have. (But don't empty the trash yet!) Do a search for those. Reinstall Mail from the DVD in Optional Installs. This will put Mail 4.2 in Applications, then run the Combo Update, which will update Mail to 4.5, and then the Security Update again, in that order.
