Cannot get CS5 to re-install

Hi gurus. I cannot for the life of me get my copy of Photoshop CS5 to re-install on my computer.
Worked fine on my old and now dead pc (running Vista).
On the new windows 7 (home premium edition) it ran fine for 6 mths or so and then started having issues. First the photomerge failed to startup and then a few months later the whole software failed to start
Un-installed CS5 and tried to re-install. Nope, locks the PC up at the Adobe Help install stage.
Jumped on Adobe forums and looked around. Found advice to deregister install on old machine. Coaxed the old PC into action and successfully deregistered that working version of CS5.
Tried to install again on the new PC. Again failed at the Adobe Help stage.
Have tried un-installing all adobe programs that are required (such as air, download assistant, help manager, install manager, after effects CS6(trial version)) left only digital editions, flash player 11 activeX and Reader XI. Failed to install CS5 at the same point.
Tried deleting all the CS5 folders out of the C drive under program and programx86 folders. Still fails.
Tried at one point to use the adobe on line chat.....after initial contact I was told to wait as I ended up in the wrong section and would be transfered ..............eventual logged off an hour later after no further contact from Adobe help was forthcoming.
Arrgh frustrating as all getout.....
Any one with ideas on how to get the install to work? It would be muchly appreciated.

  • Cannot get windows 7 to install on new imac

I have a new "Thunderbolt" imac. Using the boot camp assistant disk that came with it (or the downloaded one), I cannot get windows 7 successfully installed. Mostly won't start up. Long hang-ups, mouse won't work. Have used Boot Camp on older mac Pro  for a long time with perfectly consistent results, but am frustrated here. I have followed instructions, made several fresh install attempts, used stock mouse and keyboard that came with imac, poor results. Boot camp appears to be v3.0 something. Wish I knew better what to ask......

    Hi joehonse,
Would you please let us know current situation of this issue? Any update?
    Regarding to error:
Package installation did not succeed, this issue may occur if you connect a computer to a server that is running Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials while other Windows updates or application installations are pending and the Connector installation is canceled.
    àWhen
I navigate to that path, the installer is already there.  I'm not sure if it should work like this, but I have tried to run that installer independently, and it will fail everytime.”
Based on your description, did you mean that you can find the installer, however, can’t run it as normal? Would
you please let me know the error message that you can get?
In addition, as Robert suggested, would you please download the installer manually and replace the existed
one. Then please run and monitor the result.
Meanwhile, please refer to the following article and check if can help you.

  • IS There A Link To Download An Earlier Version of Reader Cannot Get Version X To Install

I am running a computer with XP Pro SP3 and cannot get version X to install, I keep getting an error code.  I used to have Version 5, I think it was on the computer and wanted to upgrade it.  I deleated that version and cannot get version 10 to install.  I posted a question about the error codes that I am getting but after reading all of the messages on the board it seems that version 10 has a few problems.  I was wondering if there was still a link somewhere to download one of the earlier versions like version 8 or 9.  All I can find are links that take me to the version 10 download page at Adobe.  Does anyone know of a link to one of the earlier versions?  Thanks for any help.

  • I cannot get Flash Player to install on my Mac

I cannot get Flash Player to install on my Mac Air.  I have repeatedly confirmed that I meet the system requirements and installed and uninstalled the software.  It always fails at 51% installation and give me and alert that says Install Error.  Please help!
    MAC OS 10.8.5
    Safari 6.1
    Firefox 26.0
Just performed the update to FP12 on my iMac.  Worked perfectly.
    MAC OS 10.6.8
    Safari 5.1.10
    Firefox 26.0
It appears the problem is with the newer OS...

"Allllllllrighty then!" as "Ace Ventura" said....
The problem ISN'T with Flash Player...
If you remember back in September, when Apple released the 10.8.5 update, shortly thereafter... you no doubt discovered a file named "mach_kernel" was in your Mac HD directory.  And... unaware of what it was, you deleted it.
That (mach_kernel) is a base file of OS X and Apple screwed up the update and made it "visible" when it's supposed to be hidden.
Hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting Mac Users worldwide deleted it and it'll make things worse as time goes by.
YOU'RE in luck, though. I have a fix.
If you have a TIme Machine and use the "Secrets" pereference pane to reveal "hidden files", you can restore it from a "pre 10.8.5" backup.
If not, I have a "fresh" mach_kernel file you can download.
You'll need to download and install the Secrets prefpane. It'll then be in your System Preferences.
Make sure you have it set to "show hidden files"
Check the box and you have to restart Finder
Press "Quit This" and then go to the Finder Dock icon and right click it
    Select "Open"
    Open your TIme Machine
Go back to September 28 or earlier.
You'll see the mach_kernel file in the Mac HD directory
(I can't show it in the TM because screenshots don't work while it's open but here it is in my MAc HD)
Right click it and select "Restore to"
Then, when it goes back to Finder, choose the Mac HD directory and click OK.
It will place the mach_kernel back where it was and you can install software again
DON'T FORGET to go back and hide your files (and restart Finder) again, or you'll have a mess with the clutter of hidden files everywhere.
IF you don't have the Time Machine...
WITH hidden files shown, download this file (mach_kernel.zip)
Move it to your Mac HD directory and THEN unzip it with Stuffit Expander or TheUnarchiver, whichever you use (most people have Stuffit).
You should see the mach_kernel file there.
You can delete the zip file, and then go back to Secrets in your System Preferences, and uncheck Show Hidden Files.
Restart Finder and it'll be safely hidden again.
THEN you can install Flash Player and other software without the "General Installation Error".

I have purchased Acrobat from the Cloud and downloaded and installed it. I received an order number but no serial number and cannot get it to finish installing Where do I get the serial number!?!

Like most online purchases you would normally receive the order number before the order is processed so you should be patient and allow some time for the processing to happen.  If you feel you have waited long enough then you should contact Adobe Support directly and try to get information on your order since you now have a reference for it that you can share with them.

Hi Ned.. thanks taking the time to reply.. but, unfortunately, I got the same error message.  BTW, I found it interesting that my serial number did NOT work in the downloaded version, so I selected the trial, which resulted in the same error message:  Your installation encountered errors, Please try restarting your system and installing again.  Inconsistency in the installer database.  Please restart your computer and install again.  I am open to other trouble-shooting ideas!

  • Mac OS 10.6  Safari 4.0.3.  Cannot get Flash Player to install.

Did an archive and reinstall of the OS, then went to download center and downloaded Flash Player (again), but when I try to open a video, continue to get the message that I need to download the latest Flash Player. Called Applecare and they got me this far, don't want to PAY Adobe to figure out how to use a free program that apparently I have no choice in using. Cannot view any video.

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)

  • Cannot get Cisco Connect to install or set up E1000 router

    1. We have been using an E1000 router connected to our main Dell desktop (running XP SP3) to handle a small home network that includes wife's laptop which has card and kids' desktop with USB wireless adapter.
    2. We purchased a new main desktop computer, ZT Systems running Windows 7. I am attempting to install Cisco Connect on this computer and set up the router. I reset it to factory specifications because I figured I'd have to start from step 1.
    3. I cannot find the original setup CD that came with the router and I have no clue whatsoever what my password is.
    4. So, I downloaded CiscoConnect.E1000.1.3.11069.2, the appropriate software to my desktop, and have been trying to install the software and configure the router, without any success whatsoever. When I plug it in, it asks me to connect the router which I do. It then will get to 25 percent of setup and stop, saying it couldn't be configured. At the same time, I have no Internet access, keeps telling me it's looking for networks when I actually am trying to set up a network.
    5. I've tried the steps for configuring without the software, Windows still searches for a network and tells me it can't find one and I have no Internet access.
    6. Can anyone tell me what's going on here, what I'm doing wrong, anything I'm missing? Do I need to just buy another router or what? Thanks in advance for any help.

Does your desktop have wireless? If so, switch it off and retry the installation. Make sure to reset the E1000 by holding the reset button for about 10 seconds.

  • I CANNOT GET CS5 EXT ON VISTA 32 COMPUTER

I put in a new drive in a Vista 32 laptop. I had no problems with the CS5 being downloaded and working. As I tried to download a plug-in for CS5, the screen with that plug-in froze. I tried re-booting and shuting down completely but when it was turned back on, it was still there. I thought I would do a restore back a few hours today to see if it would fix it and it did. But, I had to reload CS5. After it completed, I checked for "All Programs" listings and ther was NO Adobe things there. I checked the C drive and CS5 plus other Adobe things were all listed as a file folder. I uninstalled CS5, rebooted, and am trying another download-------anything else I can try????-----thanks-----Dan

If you get to the point where Photoshop is installed, but somehow it has failed to put entries in the start menu, you may just need to create some shortcuts manually, without the need to uninstall and reinstall.
Photoshop's executable will be here after it has been installed:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop.exe
Just navigate to that folder in an Explorer window and double-click Photoshop.exe (you may see it as just Photoshop, with a blue icon).  If that works, and Photoshop comes up properly, you can drag a shortcut from this file to your desktop, or you can manually add a Start Menu entry for it.

  • I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and now I cannot get Adobe Reader to install.

I have a MacBook Pro with 10.9.2. I was unable to open the version of Adobe Reader I had been using, so I used CleanMyMac to uninstall it. I then tried to install Adobe Reader multiple times to no avail. I am able to download and begin the installation process, but depending on where I download from, I get one of two messages. One reads, "Package name is Adobe Reader XI (11.0.06) installer: Installing at base path / installer: The install failed (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)"
The other error message, using the other AR download, says, "Found a higher version Adobe Reader in the installation location. Installation will terminate."
I have, as noted, uninstalled everything Adobe from the computer. I have turned the computer on and off. I have emptied the trash.
Any suggestions on something else to try?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elise

CleanMyMac is not really recommended software, you should take a look at the many threads on these forums that discuss whether it is needed & if it is safe to use.
Personally I don't think it is safe to use tools like CMM because they can encourage you to 'clean' essential system files that the OS needs. It also runs processes in the background that use up system resources for what purpose?
As for Adobe Reader. It's clear that CMM didn't remove all traces of Reader since Adobe's installer is still finding evidence of a 'newer' version installed (this seems like an error on the part of the installer).
You will need to follow Adobe's instructions for removing Reader correctly, instructions vary for each version of Reader, so you will need to try to figure out what was installed.
