Cannot get display on my apple macbook pro?

My Macbook Pro Switches on gives the start up sound but nothing appears on screen. The keyboard lights up but nothing on screen.
Is there a way I could use an external monitor to see the display

First, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Do a PRAM reset > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If it doesn't work, it's possible that there's a hardware problem with the graphic card or the display. To test that, connect an external display. Look at the connectors of the external display and buy an adapter if it's needed. Just connect the external display to the MacBook, turn on the external display and start your computer, so image will appear on the external display. If nothing appears, the graphic card is damaged, if something appears, the display is damaged. In both cases, take your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller

I cannot get a signal from my MacBook Pro to a Samsung T220HD using an HDMI cable

I was in the Apple store to see how to improve the resolution on my Samsung T220HD, which I had connected to my MacBook Pro using the PC cable and an Mini DisplayPort adaptor. The staff recommended I buy a Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable instead. I've plugged the new cable in, and the Samsung display reads "Check signal cable".
I don't have another cable to test it; am I doing something wrong?

Mini Dis[playPort cables have a lot of contacts, and require a lot of force to seat properly. Push until all the metal part of the plug disappears into the jack.

I have a mid-2010 27" iMac and have not been able to properly install NexDef 4.2.21 to OSX 10.9. Can't get it to work on Safari, Firefox or Chrome. I have tried all the "work-arounds" on apple discussions and even on MLB.com to no avail. It's clear that there is no way to get NexDef to work on Mac Mavericks, but has anyone been able to find any discussions from MLB on an update to work on the latest Mac OS?

Cannot get Continuity to work with Macbook Pro

I am unable to receive or make iPhone on my mac.
They’re both on the same wifi network
Both connected to iCloud
Mac is using Yosemite
iPhone is using latest iOS
iPhone cellular calls in enabled on phone
Handoff enabled on mac
On my iPhone, in "General" settings, there is also no Handoff settings available. Further more, whenever I try to go into iCloud settings on my mac, it takes a while, lags and the spinning wheel comes on for a couple of seconds.
Just to clarify, I am able to receive calls on my iPad Air with iOs 8 installed.
ALSO, when I click on iCloud Drive in my finder, the window doesn't change. It stays on "my documents" even though the "iCloud drive" is selected. Both are enable in settings.
What am I doing wrong?

I've been looking into the Apple MacBook Pro. Of course, I would want to get rid of Mac OS X and load up Arch. Please tell me if the following will work out-of-the-box or have workarounds:

I know the high DPI display shouldn't be a problem since GNOME Shell now supports those, but I want to be able to use all of the above things. Also, please let me know if there are any other problems to look out for. Thanks.

I can't comment on your specific model, but IMHO, getting a Mac (especially a Mac laptop) to run Linux exclusively doesn't make much sense, for the following reasons:
Apple's EFI implementation is weird, and some features (most notably the ability to upgrade the firmware) can be done only with the help of OS X. As a practical matter, this means that you'll either have to use exotic tools like the Linux version of "bless" or boot the computer in BIOS/CSM/legacy mode -- and even then, upgrading the firmware will be a hassle, should that become necessary. Booting in BIOS/CSM/legacy mode is the easier path, and there's nothing wrong with doing it that way, but as the industry is moving away from BIOS and toward EFI, it means that either you'll be going in the other direction or you'll need to struggle with a Linux-only EFI-mode installation on the Mac.
Hardware support in Linux for Macs is a bit weird, in part because of the preceding issue (the weird Apple firmware). I realize your question is aimed at uncovering specific answers about this topic, but as a general rule, Apple hardware seems more trouble-prone under Linux than standard PC hardware. Also, note that hardware support can vary depending on the mode you use (BIOS/CSM/legacy vs. EFI). Video hardware can be particularly troublesome on some models, with BIOS/CSM/legacy sometimes working better.
Mac mice (including laptop trackpads) are 1-button devices, but Linux works best with 3-button mice. A 2-button mouse can do in a pinch. Using a 1-button mouse with X requires applying unusual workarounds involving the use of keyboard keys while clicking the mouse button. Although this can be done, it's an extra hassle, both to set up and to use. On a desktop computer, of course, you can just replace the mouse, but this isn't always practical with a laptop.
I haven't checked pricing recently, but Apple hardware tends to carry a price premium compared to similar hardware from other manufacturers.
Although most of these issues (with the possible exception of price, if you're on a tight budget) aren't really critical by themselves, they combine to create a rather unpleasant combination, at least when considering a Mac exclusively as a platform for running Linux. If you wanted to dual-boot with OS X, things would be different, of course, but personally, I wouldn't buy a Mac as a Linux-only computer.
If you've got specific reasons for wanting a Mac, perhaps you could post them here. Although I personally haven't shopped for a laptop for a while and so can't offer specific suggestions, somebody else might be able to suggest alternatives that would do what you want.

Apple Macbook Pro Retina with display issue Samsung LED

Once I have plugged the HDMI cable from Macbook Pro to Samsung 24" LED Monitor, the display remains black. Doesn't seemed like the samsung monitor recognised the Apple Macbook Pro at all. I have reset the PRAM and troubleshoot it with Apple and meanwhile still waiting for answer from Apple. They have acknowledged of the problem but there is no solution. I erally need the second extended monitor for my design work. Bit ridiculus that the most powerful Apple system cannot even do the simplest thing. I am stuck now. Please help.

drag the file to the desktop, then using the menu item "File > Get Info…"
in the "Open With" section select "Mail" from the list and then click the "Change All…" button to make Mail the default application for all .eml files

Either use the Apple ID you used when you originally purchased the applications or you will have to purchase them using your Apple ID. If you did not have the other Apple ID, then you have the applications illegally or they were improperly included with a computer you purchased from someone else.

Apple service centre employee told me that they do not have this 14 day offer in India.
And My mac book pro is taken in by Service centre people to run test etc and I will be informed the next day if they accept it as a fault or not ?

Only thing you need is a minidisplayport-to-? adapter ... plugs into Thunderbolt port. ? is replaced by VGA or HDMI or DVI.
I have used high-quality brand names (LG, Samsung) that were picked because I liked the display and have had no issues.
I will add that some threads speak of issues with some Dell monitors that work spottily if at all. But only from reading other threads.
