Cannot get ethernet or wifi working on Kanga G3

Kanga G3 running 9.0.4 previously upgraded from a fresh 8.1 install.
I cannot get this thing connected to my network either by using the ethernet connection or by using a supported orinoco wireless card. My network is operating fine, and I have checked and double checked the TCP control panel settings. I've turned appletalk on and off, reinstalled networking components, upgraded to 9.0.4 from 8.1 , tried clean booting, messed with extensions and control panels, and nothing helps. The TCP control panel info box shows NO connection info at all, not even a 169. type IP.
I've installed wifi drivers, but the card is not recognized and no lights illuminate on it, although its known working on a PC, and the G3 displays an icon for it on the desktop when I plug it in.
I've checked all the obvious stuff, so what else could it be?

Do you have the Powerbook 3400/G3 Modem extension installed and enabled? It is required for both modem and Ethernet.
Does your Apple System Profiler report any data on Ethernet?
No point in trying to get the WiFi card working until you get Ethernet up and running.

Yes. tried the one ram stick, no go. I have been trying to boot off/install the windows 7 disk but am unable to get to the point where windows starts installing after its gathering information portion of the install. I can get to the disk selection screen of the install with the WD HD on SATA port 2 but then get the "cant install messages" when I try to select the Vertex 3. Yes I can see the Vertex 3 Drive as well as the WD drive at this point. some times I have to hit "scan" a couple of times.

I plug the ethernet from the airport to the back of the modem (a Webstar unit) from my cable provider. Then I plug the other cable from the back of the airport into my G5. Then plug in the power cord. I get lots of flashing lights - "thinkin & blinkin", but then I get a message that it cannot locate the server. Even rebooted. I've been waiting for the IT guy to call/email me back me back but no response yet. I'm guessing I may just need a new location, but I'm not wired to think IT-like (I'm a very right brained graphic designer), I I don't want to screw anything up.
Do I need to just go through a new internet setup?

Cannot get screen sharing to work long distance...

I set up an AIM account for my mother-in-law so that I could remote screen-share her MacBook and help her with learning how to use it and trouble shoot it (it's a Late 2008 Aluminum MacBook hand-me-down from my wife).
I've set up the account, but cannot get remote screen sharing working. Screen sharing works fine over bonjour, but no go over the internet using AIM. I can control my wife's MBA from my iMac and vice-versa, but neither of us can control her MacBook. When we choose "Ask to share users screen...", we get the pop up window stating "Waiting for response from user", along with the spinning gear icon. If she chooses "Share my screen with...", the pop up window appears on our Macs and we're able to choose accept. But then the pop up window switches to "User would like you to share his or her screen" and just sits there. Nothing happens. On her screen, she gets the message "waiting for response from user" and nothing else happens.
After a long wait, my screen will say, "There was a communication error during your chat. Messages didn't receive a response from..." and gives me the option to report the details to Apple.
What am I doing wrong?
Her MacBook is running Mavericks, as are our machines.

Hi,
@mac.com and @me.com ID works as AIM Screen Names (you add them like they are and existing name) but only if you are using Messages 7 or 8 plus later versions of iChat 6 in Lion.
You should be able to use the Apple Issued IDs in Mavericks.
If you using an AIM Registered name try using it without the @AIM.com or @AOL.com suffix (User Name only)
As AIM can "read" the Apple Database it will think the Apple IDs exist already but may not tell you that is the reason you can't re-register them.
Can you post the info being sent to Apple here ?
However stop the log after about 10 lines of the Binary Images (I will not need it all).

I have checked my Macbook pro ip 192.168.7.3 address as well as Apple TV ip address 192.168.7.2, using both with same apple Itunes username and password, the icon appears on the top of screen and disaapears. You can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion. This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it. I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date. It is usually correct, to within a few weeks. A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.

I would delete the account and try to re-enter it. Also, you have to let your firm's IT department know that you want to sync work email on your personal devices before they actually work.

There is no QuickTime System Preferences pane in 10.6.8 or later.
You enter the registration under the player 7 menu.

OK, that is a Bluetooth mouse so open Windows Devices and Printers>Add a Device Toggle the power (on the mouse) off and then on. he mouse should appear in the window, follow instructions to add it.

Cannot get iTunes DJ to work

No doubt it is something really obvious that I'm missing, but I cannot get iTunes Dj to work. If I click on iTunes DJ in the left column, right section of the window says "iTunes DJ" and explains that I can make a continuous mix, but there is no list of music. The play button is greyed out.
The help file says "To select a specific playlist (instead of your library) for the live mix, choose an option from the Source pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes window."
but there is no Source pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes window.
Any ideas?

Do you see the grey bar at the bottom of the screen when you select iTunes DJ, the one with the Settings and Refresh button, as seen in the picture on this web page? If not, then the bottom of the window may just be off the screen on your system so you don't see the Source selector. If that does seem to be the problem, try changing the resolution of your Mac's screen (Displays system preference) to the highest resolution. If it already is, try changing it to a lower resolution, then back. That may get the iTunes window to reappear..
If not, open the Script Editor application, paste in the following text (up to and including the line that says "end tell") and click the "Run" button:
tell application "Finder"
set {d1, d2, d3, d4} to (get bounds of window of desktop)
end tell
tell application "iTunes"
set margins to {d1 + 10, d2 + 54, d3 - 10, d4 - 148}
set bounds of window 1 to margins
end tell
If the iTunes window is running off the screen, that should restore it.

Cannot get wireless scanner to work

wireless printing to my HP Officejet Pro 8500 works fine but I cannot get the scanner to work - it fails to even communicate with the HP device. My operating system is Windows Vista. The error message I get when trying to use the scanner by clicking on the "HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Scan" icon is "Scanner communication cannot be established."
