Cannot get hooked up to home internet

Does the phone see the wifi router as an available hotspot? Have you verified the phone is set to connect to the same frequency of what the wifi router is broadcasting? The password is being inputted correctly?

  • Just installed a new Airport Exteme.  Set up was no problem however we have  3 IPads and 1 Mac laptop and cannot get all devices to access Internet. Every reset of the airport gives a different combination of devices allowed access. Any ideas as to why?

Just installed a new airpot extreme with a modem to use as a wireless system. Setup was successful however with 3 iPads and one laptop we cannot get all devices access to Internet. Each reset of airport extreme results in a different combination of devices that successfully connect. Any ideas as to why?

    Well, this is interesting,
Let me tell you coulpe of things I noticed:
    - Are you using LEAP as the EAP method? some config examples illustrate configuriong using LEAP with WEP keys. Forget this and use WPA2-AES.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_configuration_example09186a00801c40b6.shtml
    - in some AP configurations (AP1 for example) I can see that:
    wlccp authentication-server client any method_Users
This means that the wlccp client authentication will use the method called method_Users. Let us see what is configured with this method:
aaa authentication login method_Users group Users
This shows us that the method method_Users uses the server group named Users.
let us see what is configured withe the group Users:
    aaa group server radius Users
NOTHING!! it is empty!! so when a client tries to connect it will try to autheticate it against the radius server but the radius server group that it needs to check is empty.
so I think you need to either use the correct method under which the server is configured with the wlccp statement. OR you need to configure the method_Users with correct user group that contains a server.
Check and let me know if that works.
    Regards,
    Amjad

  • Cannot get hooked up with my server.

I have AT&T u-verse as my server and use yahoo for email.  I  have put in my name and password and tried everything but I still cannot get hooked up.  Do I need to charge my card for the services first and if so, that option has not come up and where do i go to do that?  If I hook back up to my computer and ask it to synchronize to my mail, will that do it?  Any help will be appreciated as I'd like to get going and send out my first email.

  • Cannot get MacBook to connect to internet with Airport Extreme

Starting this in a new thread so it doesn't get lost:
I'm having a similar issue as a previous poster. I got the AEBS set up and working on my PC (running XP)--light was green, able to connect to internet. However, when I tried to connect using my MacBook it would not connect. It was telling me "ethernet not connected" and "firewire not connected". Already updated my OS to Snow Leopard. I wanted to switch from my previous wifi connection (belkin--no security code) to the AEBS, but I wound up having to switch back after trying to figure this out for SEVERAL HOURS. All the connections were correct--basically just transferred over the belkin wires to the AEBS--cable modem into the AEBS WAN port and then the other connecting cable into the ethernet ports to connect the modem to the AEBS. Tried switching the cables also--neither worked in getting the wifi connected. Tried rebooting both the cable modem and the AEBS--did not fix the wifi connection issue. I am ready to return this thing if I cannot get this figured out without wasting another 6 hours. After trying to reset everything I then wound up getting an issue where I could not connect at all even though the green light was on and the cable modem's lights were all on and I got an error code: error-6753. Again tried rebooting everything, but still had the same error code. I have unplugged the blasted thing, reset my Belkin so I can at least get back on-line and connect with the MacBook as well. Any suggestions? Not familiar with techie language.
UPDATE--just looked on the MacBook again to see how the belkin is connected. It says "airport connected", "ethernet not connected", "firewire not connected": same as when I had the AEBS set up. Airport connected was indicated with the AEBS also. Able to connect with the belkin, but not the AEBS on the MacBook. HELP

    Thanks for the clarification.
You know that you need to reset the cable modem whenever you change the device that it is connected to, correct? Push the reset button, power off the modem, (and pull the battery if it's easily accessible). The power down can be a few minutes to 30-60 depending on your provider. It's always better to leave the modem powered down longer rather than shorter if you're not sure how fast the equipment at your ISP will reset back at their offices.
You're probably tired of resetting the AirPort Extreme, but I would recommend a factory default reset to clear everything out and start fresh.
Power off the AirPort Extreme (AEBS)
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in while you plug the power back into the AEBS
Keep holding the reset button until you see the amber light blink more quickly, hold another second or two when you see this, and then release.
Connect the ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN (circle icon) port on the AEBS. I also suggest that you temporarily connect another ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports until you have the device configured.
Open AirPort Utility and click Continue to follow the guided setup. On the 3rd or 4th window, you'll be asked how you want to configure the device. Choose the "Create a wireless network" option and continue to follow the setup until you Update the AEBS. You should have a green light in 20-30 seconds.
For now, keep the ethernet cable connected from the LAN port to your computer and open your browser to check and see if you can get an internet connection. If so, then disconnect the ethernet cable and click the AirPort icon at the top of the screen to see if you can locate the name of wireless network you created and log on.
Please post back on your progress or questions.

  • SPA122 cannot get registration after losing of Internet connection

    Good day again,
    still problems
I have SPA122 connected to dual WAN balance router. SPA is working perfect and no any problems with calls but...
When I lose one Internet source (primary) and  balancer switches to another source (secondary) modem cannot get registration again. You can get registration only after you restart modem. The same time you can get Internet connection on Internet port of SPA122 all the time.
I tried several times both way Primary - Secondary, Secondary - Primary. The same result: Internet availible, VOIP - no registration.
Also I tried direct connection to both sources. The same. If you lose connection on source and after you get it again SPA122 is not registering again.
    Can you recommend something?
SPA122 has last FW from your web site.

  • Cannot get Lela to recognize my internet connection

I have tried and tried and tried to get Lela to recognize my internet  connection. I am connected to the internet through the WRT54G right now, but the easylink advisor will not "fix" the internet connection in my network. It just keeps telling me to make sure my cables are connected - they are, it tells me to plug and unplug my modem and router (done this at least 20 times). I'm guessing there is some setting on my computer that needs to change, but I have'nt a clue what it could be unless Lela tells me what needs changed. Like I stated I am typing this and have an internet connection right now. When I try to get through to support from easylink advisor it goes to a "the website cannot be found" site. Could someone help me I am about worn out with this issue?

Go to add/remove programs and remove LELA from your system.  It is not needed for anything.

  • Cannot get to websites despite robust Internet Connection

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro.  Wireless and Network Diagnostics show no problems.  I get green status indicators on both my wireless and ethernet ports, but suddenly cannot connect to websites even though I can get "on" the Internet.  I tried resetting SMC and PRAM.  At the Apple Store they said my drive was showing errors, so I replaced it with a Samsung 840 and I upped the memory to 8G.  I then did a clean reinstall of Mavericks, and used Time Machine to restore my programs and files.  The computer is faster, works great, but... you guessed it.  No website access.  I tried wired Ethernet and that isn't recognized nor is my iPhone Personal Hotspot, although everything is recognized at full signal.  I had my machine set with a Google DNS and changed it back to Time Warner.  Nothing.  However, Spotify was works and I can do a search in Google, but I can't actually access the websites it shows.  This is true for both Ethernet only and Wireless.  Very puzzling.  Any thoughts?

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Cannot Get One Computer to Access Internet

I am having problems connecting one notebook to our new wireless router.  It connects if I wire it, but with the wireless, it does not get internet access.  On the problem computer, in Network Magic, the network map only shows the problem computer.  On the other computers attached to the nework, Network Magic shows all devices attached to the network including the problem computer, with the problem compuer being indicated as offline.  I have repeatedly tried repair connection, rebooted both the modem and router many times to no avail.  Running the Cisco install software fails on the problem computer.  I went through Cisco support last night, and was able to manually get the router working via a manual setup process, but it does not work for the problem computer.  The problem computer has a 64bit processor.  I almost think that the problem computer is attached to something named the same "Cisco96587" but that that is not the same "Cisco96587" as the non problem computers are attached to.  Thanks for any help or advice.  I wonder if I should just uninstall Network Magic on the problem computer.
The basic information is as follows:
Your Network Magic Version installed: 5.5.9195.0-pure
The type of connection to the Internet: Cable Modem to Linksys E3000 Wireless router
The Brand of Modem and its Model Number the router is connected to: Motorola SURFboard SB5101U
The Brand, Model, Hardware Revision of your Router and include the Firmware Version: Linksys E3000
The Method of connection your problem computer has to the Router:  Connection works if wired, does not work for wireless.
The Connection in use on the problem computer: Wireless
Operating system and version and Service Pack Level, if any. Windows Vista Home Premium
Software Firewall in use: Norton 360
Also if any Anti-Virus Program or Spyware Program is actively protecting your computer. (Some Programs like Spybot does cause problems, not being able to go to specific sites.) Norton 360
Include your location in the post or fill out your Profile for this forum and include the location. (Reason: Not all Routers from a given manufacturer are available everywhere.) NJ USA
Post the link to your Router Model, if an off-brand Router or not found in the USA on the Manufacturer's USA's Website. (Why? Posters helping each other, aren't working for Pure Networks or Network Magic, so make it easier on the posters helping on.) cisco.com
And any other information you think is important if answering your own post, and the nature of the problem, itself.

are using internet connection as dhcp?
    Yes.
bridge mode seems to only work with pppoe connection to internet which is what my set up is
But you've never said why you're using bridge mode (I'm not), which -- as I've explained before -- is probably the reason you can connect only 1 client at a time.
If you'll setup the AX as a regular, main base station, connect using DHCP, and share IP addresses, you should be fine.

  • Cannot get 'Go to Database Home Page' to work on 10gXE after installation

    Hello,
I recently installed Oracle(univesal) 10g XE onto my PC. I tried to go to the Database Home Page and am not able to do so. When I click the 'Go to Database Home Page' button, a browser appears with the message 'page cannot be displayed'.
I am using Windows 2000 and have installed the loopback adaptor.
    Thanks,
    Shane

You might want to search this forum for keywords "10gXE Database Home Page" - this has been discussed many, many times.
In addition, Virag has such an excellent troubleshooting site, it is simply a waste of time to walk through the steps here - go to http://viragsharma.blogspot.com/search/label/oracle%20XE first!

  • Cannot get a home connection and the speaker icon illuminates each time

I cannot get a reception at home sometimes. When this happens, the speaker icon illuminates. Is this Apples way of idenfiying the problem.

I start to appologise that is was not the `speaker` icon, but the earphone icon, that was illuminating when my iphone4 would not work. Now, thanks to info from a contributor the problem has been resoved. The problem appears to have been caused by small grit or other tiny matter getting into the earphone jack. After several unsuccesful attempts to clear it by inserting the ear jack, I left the jack in overnight. Problem solved!  Many, many thanks .

  • HT201328 i cannot get off the settings screen on my phone

i went to change some settings on my phone, but now i cannot get back onto my home screen. does anyone know how to sort this?

    Hi coolface,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the Home button isn't returning you to the home screen, these troubleshooting steps can help:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
The Home button is slow to respond
If the Home button is slow to respond when exiting one application, try another application.
If the issue exists only in certain applications, try removing and reinstalling those applications. For further assistance in installing and troubleshooting applications see this article
If the issue continues, Try turning iPhone off and then on again. If the iPhone will not restart, try resetting it.
If the issue is still happening, try to restore the iPhone
Seek service is the issue is still occurring.
The Home button is not working
    Put the iPhone to sleep.
    Wait a couple of seconds.
    Press the Home button.
    iPhone should wake up.
If iPhone does not wake up, then iPhone should be serviced.
    Best,
    Jeremy

Hi. I have a MacBook Pro with OS10.6.8 and cannot get internet pages to load on my WiFi network at home. My iMac, iPhone and iPad all work on this network.  It is connected to the net as dropbox registers a connection and so does skype. I can connect to the WiFi in work and on other networks when travelling. However, some other networks are now starting to fail. Can anyone suggets how I can fix it, as the MBP appears to be fine, its updated with all the latest versions of software and the WiFi network is also fine....just not with my MBP??

  • HT4410 I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7

Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.
