Cannot get HP USB Hybrid TV Tuner to work properly or al all

Purchased HP Pavillion dv7-3188cl laptop because I believed it would allow me to record TV programs. That was 3 weeks ago. Then ordered the TV Tuner which arrived about 2 weks ago. Had much trouble during tuner setup/install process which MAY have messed up some things on the PC. Anyway I was advised by HP to try tuner on a different computer and it worked OK on a Windows 7 desktop using both the TV antenna and also a coax feed from WOW using ATSC digital.
I tried setup again on the target PC and am getting messages like "No Tuner Available" "Resource being used by Another Program" or words to that effect. Also, during one of the software setups I tried, one message said that if I continued "Playback would stop" and I did not know what playback I had asked for. Finally, when I ask Windows to safely remove hardware, the Tuner shows up, but then it cannot be released because another program has it. Could my many installations of the driver, setups on Media Center and HP Media Smart, etc. be all tangled up?
I want to be able to setup a analog cable feed, but I am also having the same problems if I try a digital cable connection.

Sorry for bumping this dead topic, but it is relevant to my current situation. I would like to eject my HP USB Analog Digital TV Tuner so I can free up one of my three USB ports. However, attempting to remove it via the "Eject Device" menu results in the same "Another program is using this device" error that funtodo is getting. Moreover, when I bypass the "Eject Device" menu and remove the Tuner, I cannot put my laptop into sleep mode until the next time I start it up (attempts result in the laptop freezing on a black screen, not falling asleep but not allowing me to abort Sleep Mode either; eventually the screen turns blue and deathly.

With the phone connected to the PC via the USB cable, can you see the phone when you do Start - Devices and Printers on your PC ?
If you can - right click on the phone icon it is showing and go for "troubleshooting"

Hi, I brought a USB Hybrid TV tuner PX1256E and I can't make it run. I have Windows Media Center and when I install the software and connect the hardware to the USB port a blue screen (windows crash) appear and my computer restart.

I am not 100% sure but I believe there can be some conflict between installed software and Windows Media Center. I have Toshiba USB DVB-T TV tuner and it works well on my WXP Professional preinstalled notebook.
I have tested it with Vista too and it works perfectly. If possible test it on some friends PC with preinstalled WXP Home or Professional.

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

Windows drivers for Intel wireless cards are known problematic.. If you have plenty of signal and it still cannot keep or hold the connection the issue can simply be the type of wireless.
Another problem is using names that windows does not easily handle.
eg If you set the TC using apple names, like
Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule wireless24ad12
Then to windows this is too long.. it has spaces and it has illegal character.
Change all names on the TC to suit windows. Short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Also security must be suitable.. I have no idea how old or what OS your dell is, but if you still have issues.. pull off the security on the TC for a test.. if the computer suddenly works, it is not compatible with WPA2 AES. Make sure you also use a password that is mix upper and lower case plus numbers.. avoid special characters and make it 10-20 characters long say.. it is not required to be more than that unless you are paranoid.

That's because the BBC iPlayer app uses basic AirPlay to show the content, this means the original content is sent to the Apple TV for it to decode rather than mirroring the screen of the iPad where the subtitles are added.

I can down load the files just fine and they open. the numbers in the documents will display but text will not what I get is this : "__________" where there should be text.

Cannot get Brother HL-2140 laser printer to work -- AT WIT'S END...

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me to get this printer to work -- I'm about at the point that I'm just ready to chuck the d*mn thing out the window!
For the record, I'm trying to use it with a Dual 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 with 2 GB of memory, running System Version 10.5.6. And connection via USB.
I CANNOT get it to print anything. Well, that's not COMPLETELY accurate -- I WAS able to get it to print a "printer settings" page by pushing the button on the printer. So obviously, it works. But ANYTHING sent from the computer -- no go. Every time, the print monitor or whatever it's called gives me a message saying "*Sending data failed!"*
I have the latest driver downloaded from the Brother website. I have scoured the manual, the Brother website, and googled it, and have tried EVERY fix I've been able to find, save one (that I'm trying to avoid, for reasons I'll explain later). NONE of them have worked.

I downloaded and tried the Print Therapy program that was mentioned in this thread -- it didn't help. The only thing I haven't tried is archiving and reinstalling, as was mentioned in the thread. I assume this means the system software, right? I REALLY don't want to do this, if I don't absolutely HAVE to. I have always bought Macs, because they just work. I don't want to "get under the hood" and tweak and tinker to get my computer to run better, or constantly have someone ELSE work on it when it's not working right, like many of my PC-owning friends have to. I don't run out and get the newest system software the instant it comes out, either -- instead of getting excited over new features and stuff, I generally tend more to get annoyed that I have to "relearn" or get used to the new ways things are set up or run or whatever. Anyway, when I got an iPhone a little over a year ago, I discovered after bringing it home that I had to go back to the Apple Store to buy Leopard -- because I couldn't activate the phone on my Mac (with old system software). So I did, installed it, and got a blue screen. That's it. Nothing else. I had to call Apple support and have someone talk me through going into the Terminal (which I didn't even know existed until that point) and enter a bunch of code. I felt like I was back in high school 20+ years ago, learning MS-DOS in computer class (which is why I didn't continue on with learning computer programming. Yuk. I discovered the Mac, and never looked back...). After about a half hour or so, we finally got it working. So my point after all that is that if I reinstall Leopard, I'm afraid I'll get just the blue screen again -- and I don't want to go through THAT again...
In the thread, someone mentioned using Pacifist to install just parts of it. If I tried that, does anyone know exactly WHAT parts I would need to reinstall? Or does anyone even know if I'm at risk of getting the "blue screen" again, if I do either this OR a full install? Will it "reset" all that stuff I typed into the Terminal to the way it was when I first installed Leopard, or is whatever I changed in there now permanently changed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's 95% sure to be a software problem - but...
You need to start eliminating possibilities. Like, you need to try a different USB cable. You need to try the printer and cable on a different computer.
Go to Blue Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info and check to be sure your Mac knows there's a Brother printer attached.
Use your Apple Hardware Test CD (or maybe your model has that as a program on the original Install DVD) and run the test.

I cannot get the numeric softkeybard to activate for a textinput component in my Flex 4.6 mobile application for a BB Playbook.

I realise that and I thought the StageTextInputSkin was the default skin for textinput for a mobile app. But I added it manually to the textinput line above. ie:
skinClass="spark.skins.mobile.StageTextInputSkin"
but still the same result. NO numeric keyboard on the PlayBook. Any other ideas?

Cannot get past setup. WebOS Dr not working

Hello everyone.
I am ready to get my money back on this thing so this is my last attempt to get it working.
About me: 30 years of computer knowledge so I know how to follow directions.
Tried 4 of the 5T's several times, but cannot get WebOS doctor to run
Cannot get past setup on the touchpad so I don't know my webOS version
Have read every troubleshooting guide I can find
No WebOS account because I cannot get that far.
Been working on this for 3 days
My setup:
Windows 7 x64 sp1
Java 1.7
4GB ram
500GB HDD
Found a link to WebOS Dr without an account form tis forum, but it would not run. Got error MSVCR100.dll missing. Got the file and put it in systemWOWx64. File was alrady in systemx86. Also put in folder with WebOs Dr app.
No error, but no joy either. Then read another post that sent me to

Donloaded latest version 3.0.5 WIFI omly. Don't know my actual WebOs version because I can't get past setup.
What happens on setup:
Selcet language = ok
select network = ok
enter network key = ok
load User agreement = never happens becaue after about 10 minutes I get "server Error" that takes me back to the begining. I have done this process about 30+ times.
Also, must note the toughpad takes 5-6 minutes just to come on. The longest I have ever waited for anything to boot up.
Update: Contacted seller, WebOS ver. 3.0, 32GB Touchpad

I think this might be your problem. Java 7 is only a developer preview right now and not ready for mass consumption yet (info about that is here: http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java7.xml) Any chance you can try using the latest version of Java 1.6 and run webOS Doctor again?
Also, the webOS Doctor file should be a .jar and not a .rar. Some browsers have been known to mix up the extension so try heading to http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/WebOS_Doctor_Versions, finding the version for your product, and right-clicking + selecting "Save As..."
